My scripts all had flavor messaging like this, I got a lot of complaints about it actually.
I dont know who did it, but this was very in genre. I found it excellent
It’s nice to see some appreciation though for sure. It does add a certain bit of well, flavor to the otherwise bland ship, or dead as you said. In the scripts I wrote it’s the actual crew saying things but still very neat
The crew calls out when they lower the sails and the captain calls out to get the ship underway also when enemy ships approach
I forgot the current osa script author but he’s a talented individual. Kudos
it was from whoever did the osamap and osa-map-plugin scripts. I think
it was really excellent. It even referenced the sea you were in, with your crew from various parts of the ship making sight. So sometimes from the crows nest, somtimes from the main deck. The ship felt alive. Damn shame.
so how do i get an OSA task? :O
GET BOARD
thank you :D
do enemy ships spawn into the room you are in? or do they spawn as you enter a new room? 🤔

i wonder if paying the boatswain contributes to my solhaven citizenship
Heh. Not likely. What happened out there
the enemy ship depleted my hp to 0 before i could deplete its hp to 0
:3
but don't worry i have a plan!
i'm gonna level up cannoneer, so that my dps increases
Oh you should board it. Dont get in a shooting match Hang on…let me get my article on osa to you.
boarding? :o
would that not be harder?
Oh yeah. Thats the normal play loop
https://gswiki.play.net/Jaysehn_(prime)/The_Silver_Sun
This article is a bit out of date, but you should read it.
So when a ship arrives, immediately TURN WHEEL SHIP. When the ships collide, you can board their ship and/or wait for them to board yours
oh!
Read through that primer section. It will help. The ship map is for a ship bigger than yours (my carrack) but the commands are all the same.
I need to clean up that article
This image has all the commands you need on it. Your ship is smaller, but the important rooms are the same
is there a way to tell the opposing ship's hp?
Yes. You should WATCH OCEAN once you set sail. Once you find a ship, LOOK OCEAN will show you the ocean ‘room’ and the enemy ship. It will say how damaged it is. Somehat. Heavy. Etc
Frankly, you dont have the firepower to outgun a ship atm. Just board it. You can fire as you are closing. You only need to TURN WHEEL SHIP once to set a collision course
It helps to have blessed weapons vs ghost ships. They will probably be the toughest for you. Dark ships (pirates) will be the easiest. Krolvin (think planet of the apes pirates) are probably the hardest for most folks
i'm scared of the captain 👀
In the Sentinel Fleet, enemy captains are scared of us😎
ok, here's the plan >:3
Frankly, you dont have the firepower to outgun a ship atm.
but i can only ever fire one cannon at a time anyway, right?
Yes. But with a crew…
can i hire (NPC) crew? 👀
Your fellow players! Sloops can have a maximum of 3 players on board, including yourself. So you + 2.
Unfortunately , NPC crews are not a thing
What are your normal playing hours?
yes (edit: i tend to go to sleep one hour later each day and i sleep for 12 hours
so, for example, today i woke up at 6am, tomorrow i will likely wake at 7am, then 8am etc
and i play on and off throught the day, but i play more than anything else xD)
So like what times are you around normally? Those are est?
for some reason i'm being slowmoded on this channel
We all are. Some channels have slowdowns.
i live in western euroland
i'll be on for another 7 hours i think (it is noon now)
but availability will be spotty
We have a few euro based players. Welcome
thank you
You are definitely asleep during EST evenings then. Shame. Thats when i do osa
well that's the thing, i circle around, i'm not sure why... at one point i thought i was attuned to the moon 😂
but it's not the moon
what day is the next outting?
Kinda whenever. But usually starts 9pm est
so i could try accelerate the process and be awake during the night for next week.... i kinda want to be awake for christmas day though :<
Dont alter your life! One day it will work out
.>
If you're going to sink ships via cannons
- Pre load cannon
- Get a bunch of balls put them in your backpack in a disk drop them on the deck near your cannon pretty much anything to save you sometime
good idea! :O
i'll try boarding next though
...when i can scrounge 25k together >.>
Also some tips for cannons is drop your anchor so they cant board you as fast
i wonder if celerity works in osa? 🤔
solhaven
pssssst look at your game window
Thats the deep lore. We don't ask those questions
the answer is younger me and undiagnosed dyslexia
oh i'm sorry :<
I'm not sure theres anything to be sorry about, but thanks
Captains ought to have back up on the larger ships. Add an extra miniboss per category, so its Captain plus 5 officers on MoW. I often can't get a swing in before the Captain's dead on a MoW, they go down so fast when outnumbered 20:1.
For sinking with cannons, also get your hull fully reinforced. You can raise sails as well as dropping anchor to close more slowly. Its only really on for solo play with full experience as a cannoneer, but with two or three firing rather than one its a lot more effective. I can't take on krolvin solo without full invokering, so I went through a phase of sinking them with the ammo I took off the other ships.
Remember to drop anchor, you don't want your ship drifting back to Solhaven without you.
You can also buy a net launcher for your ship which allows you to grab the crates without jumping overboard.
silver spent on balls: 4,500
silver earned from firing the balls: 6,000
for everything else, there's mastercard
Balls taken from ghost ships: FREE!
oh yeah xD
non-clerics may have different opinions about where is best to acquire ammo.
I want to see the captains spawn with elite mobs like Reim elites do
yay

I just want to say with all seriousness, you are a savage of a player. In all the good ways. You are utterly fearless, toss yourself into the deep end of this game entirely solo and are extremely willing to just plunge in and see what happens
That spell has a massive bonus when used on low level targets to help low level empaths, but it also means its going to wipe out low level characters when a critter uses it on them.
That looks like a hoot. I'm going to have to download that and give it a try now as well.
Hopefully it inspires someone to do something similar in-game without the need for the additional script. 🙂
I just HAD to say that OSA was safe earlier today...

I’m in a sloop; is there any way I can close on larger ships and board before they blow me out of the water? Currently have a 0-2 record
is it a basic sloop? (no upgrades)
I know this sounds dumb but are your sure your sails are down and anchors are up?
Pretty basic. Edit i think I have a couple hull upgrades
at least one hull upgrade is highly recommended, as far as i've been told
You need the one hull upgrade for sure
Not dumb but yes to both.
Last one I started running from at first, so maybe I need to set a collision course right when I see one?
Get 2 honestly. and all sail upgrades. Dont bother with cannon. You can repair as you wait to close. Yes. Immediately Turn wheel ship
Ohhhh repair while in combat. Yeah didn’t do that either
What role are you?
Captain
Be navigator. You get faster closing times for boarding actions. You collide sooner
Ok thanks, I’ll try to get to Kf to change it.
You have any more info on this? When I tested it in a sloop, I didn't see much benefit. It seemed to shave off between 0-30 seconds, even doing extra turns of the wheel.
So you cant really time it. Each enemy ship has a different approach speed.
So a sloop under full sail, with wind/breeze in sails, with master navigator working the wheel is the fastest boarding action in the game
My expectation is enemy ships just roll an rng meter filler per ‘check’
I timed several and looked at min/max of my samples
With a big enough sample size, for sure you can get an average
That said, i dont have hard data. But anecdotally, i notice a big difference personally.
It may be more helpful on bigger ships, but what testing I did on a sloop with max sails (no wind) had no discernible benefit to adding some extra turns.
That might be. All my experience is on my frigate
Same with carrack in my testing. If it halved the closing time I might consider it a real competitor to boatswain’s repair perk. The roles don’t move the needle a lot on most relevant metrics except for time_off_node
Same. Boatswain definitely sped up the whole repair process so I get to spend more time on node.
Why not just repair during approach and spend 100% on node?
You should be able to outpace damage received with repairs. Or just toss a f2p in the cabin and let them do all the repairs?
On node during approach. As a master boatswain it takes me about 30-60 seconds to repair after a fight. Using a F2P to repair seems sketchy to me.
I have my healer boatswain in my cabin and he does all the repairs. My guy is a Captain just because i like the title.
yeah, so if you're chaining tasks solo, the mandatory off node periods are, generally speaking, 1) clearing the enemy boat and 2) repairing your boat. You could theoretically dip in and out of the cabin between pulses to repair the boat, but that strategy always feels a bit cheesy and sweaty to me.
obviously, if you're open to MA then analyzing the impact of the roles to that level sorta goes out the window
Yeah, my pocket healer goes wherever my main goes, plus having a healer and cleric on board for when i bring guests is handy to avoid accidents
I prefer to chain tasks as much as possible. I clear a ship, repair mine, throw all the boxes on my main deck, raze, pull into port, drop all boxes off at the pool, collect boxes from last ship, sell loot, turn in task and crate, share silvers, return to captains cabin, do spellups and absorb exp. I can generally stay saturated the entire time
As far as roles, navigator for the captain and boatswain for the crew seems to be most efficient.
.. I never touch the cannons. I know there’s some who straight sink ships instead of the combat but as far as exp and loot goes it’s not overly economical
With task boards in every port the bird loses its role unless you are like some who stay out and don’t go back in every ship
My 3 person group I only fire cannons when nobody has a cull task - since it seems doing cannon damage reduces the mob count on the ship.
I used to just go immediately after I was done cleaning up, but I added a wait time so they'll only grab the next ship when one of them hits muddled. Just to reduce the number of ships I was doing.
I do believe waiting while saturated after turning in a task raised my xp/hr pretty decently.
I would hover around 2000/hr when I just chain ships
But when I started resting, I'm closer to 2400/hr now.
I’ve got it down to an art, you should sail with me sometime. 😉
I got 2 crews of 3 from ~20 to cap with OSA. So I think I'm doing okay
Cleric / Bard / Monk... Then Wizard / Ranger / Paladin... Currently doing my capped Cleric/Wizard/Sorc.
Tonight! At Solhaven’s Commodore Hall! The Free Captains’ Company will be raffling off the sloop Golden Hawk, last owned by famed scoundrel Jasper De Rayne! Tickets are 25,000 silver each! All funds go to benefit Belamy Bakery of Vornavis!
Tickets go on sale at 9:00pm and will be drawn at 9:45pm!
⛵
so, i dont think that using the cannons actually reduces enemy counts at all, or if it does its negligable. I just blasted a brig to heavily damaged and i estimate it had maybe 10 or less hull remaining. boarded it and there were 35 enemies, thats 5 less than the max.
the math isnt adding up
I have lots and lots of tasty data I could pull... We can test this.
i dont usually collect data but yeah you should check it out if you have the data at hand, id love to see if its any real difference
This is gunna take a bit
I could gather more, but I did 7,103 ships...
Firing upon the ships does seem to reduce the size of the force
The type (treasure, merchant, battle-marred) didn't seem to have an effect.
What I do is... If any of my guys have a 'cull' task, they don't fire.
If everybody has a non-cull task, they do fire - but the navigator turns to the ship as quickly as possible, so it's only a few volleys.
So in that short time, looks like my guys reduce the force by an average of 2-3 mobs.
The "Min" value is probably off by 2-4 because sometimes some mobs will pop before I go across the gangplank.
I'd say 80% of the ships are from a sloop. 1-2% from a brig, and the last 18% or so from a carrack.
All level ranges welcome. 9pm tonight in Solhaven!
I recognize there is something of a crisis going on with the spell disabler stuff, but any news on the OSA storage?
so mass evil eye is not allowed in OSA? Whats the reason behind that?
or is it a bug?
Going to need a little more information before anyone can answer that, most likely. Is it happening in every room? Is it just on your ship, or enemy ships, or both? When did it start happening?
ill get you more info
but what i can tell you so far is that i was on a enemy ship and tried it and it says i can't create a connection. Had another player try as well. same thing.
Are we still needing more info? Or is anyone able to answer if this is intended?
whats the status of the captain's chests?
It'd be nice if we could have the number of ships sunk in our profiles.... similar to how number of warcamps razed can be put there
Oh geez. As long as we can hide it.
pretty much anything in profiles is toggled off by default except title, name, race, and gender.... the rest can be toggled on and off
I really don't need to see it.
Own up to your addiction
I'd love to be able to toggle whether I'm in the notoriety list or not.
Not that it works, but...
OSA NOTORIETY TOGGLE
I've really been enjoying OSA and am thinking about upgrading to a bigger ship to get some of the tasks done faster or be able to spend more time out at sea before returning to town. Would a Carrack be getting too big to solo on? I don't mind if it takes longer to clear a ship, but having them come in too fast could become an issue and the hours I tend to play don't make it easy to find crews (not to mention I just don't wanna spend half my time looking for one)...
Tasks don't really go much faster on bigger ships unless you have multiple people.
I can't imagine soloing at all. It would just be so painfully slow
I'd say that the bigger ships are mostly only good if you have enough crew for them. So like don't go to Carrack until you have too many people for a Brig, etc.
That said, I do a 3 man team on a Carrack (mostly because I don't want to buy another Sloop). And it does basically work.
I leveled up 2 3-man crews from 20 to Cap on a Sloop and their XP/Hr was better than my capped crew on a Carrack. And they prioritize doing tasks. They only rest if they have no active task and they're all waiting for a new task.
Think about it like this... What are the tasks?
Sink a specific type of ship - faster if you have faster interactions - Smaller ship is better (presuming you're still boarding the ship and not just sinking it with cannons)
Kill a specific type of Captain - faster if you have faster interactions - Smaller ship is better - Fewer mobs to get through to get to the captain
Cull a certain # of mobs - Arguably better with bigger boats because more mobs to cull
So two tasks are better with smaller ships.
I solo on a carrack frequently as a wizard. In terms of optimization, Brig is the bottleneck ship for spawn speed relative to ship population if you can clear rooms at about the same rate for 1-4 targets, otherwise sloop is almost certainly going to be better for solo
So if your clear speed is essentially the same for 4 targets as 1, carrack is slightly more optimized for solo bounty chaining
I would say carrack is the absolute biggest you should do as a solo.
Anything bigger and you can get some crazy high counts on ships where you are killing off 75% of your foes with a fully full head
A massive, massive, massive QoL update would be let us manipulate spawn speed of actual boarding enemies.
Spawn speed is directly tied to ship size and group size. I’d love to see it but I doubt it ever happens. Maybe a P2W/silver item??
Sure. I'd pay 25k bs for the chance to up enemy spawns during boarding. Its a lot more value that selling me a solution to logging out on a boat for cash.
And if I'm being honest...if I pay 300m silver for a boat, being able to have a faster spawn rate than a sloop seems like not a big ask
I don't mind killing 100 foes, but 1 at a time is not fun. Give me 5-10 at a time if i think i can handle it
Long-Term Experience Boosts: 1169
It'll be a LONG time before I'm worried about wasting EXP cause my head's full..... and now that I'm playing the warrior beyond her gift, I have a reason to actually use them. But yea, I don't want the fighting portion to stretch out TOO long....
Its more about how screwed you are if you have to logout for any reason. 45 mins of totally uninterrupted play is rare for me
Long-Term Exp: 13,003
Only way to speed up spawn rates is to have more people on your boat? If yes, does it work if any are hiding in the captain’s quarters?
You can speed up spawns by moving from room to room (at least you can while on the enemy boat). You will "get ambushed" usually by 2 sometimes by 1. When soloing on a sloop, at any rate
Ok thanks, yeah that’s what I’m doing but 1-2 every 60-90 seconds is way too slow when I need to clear 30+ crew. Was hoping I could hide a few stowaways and really pump those numbers
Yeah. Its not a great feeling to spend 300m silver on a boat and feel like you never use it because the system has code limitations it sells cash solutions to
Would love a way to increase the wave numbers. I joked about raising a fiery flag for more . . aggressive boats.
I've found tripping the traps can inadvertently delay next wave appearances. So that's not even helpful.
So, to echo some other sentiments, a larger ship won't necessarily net you faster task completion, unless it's a "Kill X Pirates" task, because you can often end up completing the task in one encounter. You can tickle the spawn rate by moving around, and the # of pirates that ambush you is directly related to the size of the enemy ship, with Carrack I think up to 3 (I may be wrong) on an ambush.
Contrary to some opinions, I don't believe the system was designed around any cash event, nor is it being held from any changes due to the existence of cash related items. Sure, some items were added later for things like ship spawn, but they are in no way required and in fact don't add all that much benefit (this coming from someone who has a fully upgraded signal wand and orb).
I actually really like brig for solo. I have a sloop, brigantine and carrack, and have fun soloing the sloop and brig, and then use the carrack for small group (2 people) fun. It's a perfect size for that.
I am perfectly happy with both signal wand and storm orb. I have both.
Selling a way to return immediately return to port safely without having to totally scuttle your ship and end up half way across the world for cash instead of silver is and remains gross
But you could buy those for silver, just takes a few more steps.
At 25k bs, we are asking a sloop owner to pay something like 3x value of the boat to avoid the coding chaos that happens when you log off on your ship. Its gross.
Should have just been a per trip silver cost like stocking your ammo
A mere 15-17 months of median silver earnings
I agree, would be much better to be able to log off and have the system save your ship/location when you log back in. But reads like that’s not a feasible solution due to resources
Sure. Fair enough. But if you code a fix, dont put a cash price tag on it
I still don’t understand why they don’t just set a flag when you board disembark and retrieve your ship…. Then if you log out on a ship they can just compare the flag to your current location and adjust right away
I won't pretend to know what can be coded or not. I'm not a coder and I certainly don't know the system. I do know that its not reasonable to punish people for logging out of the game. The port orb feature of returning to port in an emergency solved several massive problems with the OSA system. Instead of selling the solution for a reasonable in-game silver price that makes it expensive, but not exclusionary, it was sold for 25k bs
Its not a great feeling to OOCly tell a player on your boat when you are 15 mins from shore that 'no, you really shouldn't log out, you'll be teleported who knows where in the game world and if you aren't premium and you don't have a bank account there, especially if its Kraken's Fall, you are going to have to beg for ferry money to leave. Just stay in the captain's quarters AFK and I'll drag you to an inn table before I log out in an hour.'
Watch the player never come to an OSA trip again after that.
Great point
Have we released the seabug buckets/tubes to a island yet? They were removed from DR for an island so was curious which one its on now?
it is going on the Flotilla. The Flotilla doesn't have shops yet but we are getting there.
Sadly running 6 accounts barely makes OSA tolerable for me. Nevermind needing enhancive rechargers to avoid feeling like I'm wasting silver just being out here. I'd like to have a means of forcing spawn by myself, I'd like to have a means of working toward enhancive recharges through sea tasks and I'd put the forced ship spawn items on the same pedastol as a brooch. You get more ship encounters X times over the usual person who only has time for X ship encounters per day.
My one thing with enhancives....OSA is pretty easy content. I don't think most folks would need to even use them there. But I get the disire to see it work alongside the bounty point system.
I REALLY want a way to force more spawns. I had suggested it as a benefit of swashbuckler long ago. Let them taunt more enemies
Enhancives just let you clear faster due to aoe CD reduction from having more weapon skill.
Sure...but if you have 6 accounts in there, it can't possibly be hard
I'd like to have the option to just sail by myself without being punished for owning a frigate.
lol. it me
You can solo a frigate…bring herbs
I'd solo a frigate. Just give me 6 or 7 pirates per wave. Let me ask the handler for harder ships. +1 to +5 random additional pirates per wave depending how many times you ask.
Lets have some ascension boats. A MoW with a bunch of 110 pirates. Elemental boats. Collides with you and buncha confluence elementals start pouring over.
The # of mobs per wave should be based on the passenger count and the boat size.
I can solo a frigate no problem. Its the 45 minutes it takes I'd rather not bother with
After ten waves. I’m ready for a nap.
I'd just love to have an option for 3-5 spawn at a time. Would be great. Do it like bandits work
Yeah, nothing really lives through a whirlwind from me.
I turn off my enhancives for bandits and OSA.
Why is that a solution?
Because the solution you want has been requested dozens of times and we’ve been told no. Im not saying you are wrong, because i would love to get bounty points through osa.
Maybe we can get some sort of movement towards a way to up spawn rates. As it stands, i rarely osa for this very reason. I cant control how long it takes and therefore i cant play unless im 100% sure i have an hour to burn
This might make me actually interested in doing OSA regularly if it became a thing. I sometimes go sailing with friends, but the pace is painfully slow in combat. Myharl is built specifically take on massive swarms (or one really big opponent like wyrm/packmother/||sybil||), that trickle of pirates just becomes tedium.
The trickle as a baseline is important. Lots of characters cant solo a 3-4 spawn over 50 critters.
But there should be like an option to up the spawns somehow.
A head on a pike... You take the head of a captain, put it on a pike, and put that in your room and mobs spawn faster. 1 mob per pike head per wave. Can have as many pike heads as you wish.
Id view a spawn increaser as similar value to storm orbs or signal wands. Id pay 25k bs for one
ask handler about harder
The handler nods and says, "Very well, Ensayn. You will now get up to 5 additional pirates at a time. This will result in increased danger. Be careful!"
fictional. Do not try this at home
Only 5? I want to +10 it like bounties
Technically there is only the ability to add an additional 5 levels to bounties on top of the default -5 to +5. Sure 10 would be a pleasant upgrade.
Just let me summon the entire crew, it'll both make osa challenging and respect my time in doing so.
Don't see how it equates to respect. It'd be fun. Rarely get to go all death blossom/super nova/nuclear. Probably not great for the server performance I'd guess.
I'm not sure this is a matter of respect, honestly. The system was designed as stated. We can certainly request for QoL improvements, but its hard to say a thing that works as designed isn't respectful
my biggest issue is when you have a full man o war... and the waves are still 10-12 mobs... i end up with 2-4 characters who were unable to get kills/attacks in, i do support us having larger waves, but i want it to be more in line with the crew size. If i have a 20 man crew, i should have waves of 20-24 pirates
With a crew of 20, I'd guess you'd want 4 groups of 5 or 5 groups of 4, all in different rooms
Is it possible to have a man o war and solo? I don't know enough about the bigger ships to know one way or the other.
It's possible but it'll be very slow
Sure. you just sit there forever grinding one foe at a time
That was the main reason I dislike OSA. It was just too slow.
Ah, yeah, that's what I suspected. The phrasing "waves are still 10-12 mobs" made me think maybe that wasn't the case with a larger ship.
The wave size scales with more people but it caps out around 12. If you sail with more than 12 it helps to use lighter attacks/setups first and then finishers on second attack.
OSA is a bit slow, but I like the idea of captaining my sloop to different towns (outside of the WL/IM/SH area). It’s only a bit longer than the walk to the Elven Nations, and much more enjoyable than the cart rides.
I'll wait until I can modify my cannon balls to make them rain down....erm....liquids...on the towns before sailing in that direction
It was more of a “how long will this trip take me” than anything. But I like being able to pop over to KF and Teras fairly quickly from Solhaven.
I just wanna be able to make it rain liquids of a questionable nature on the elves 😋
I think you can pay for that in the jungle room.
really!?!?!?! I gots me some plannin ta do!
I am sure its been discussed before, but my search skills are failing me. It would be really cool for FWI to have an OSA port you could sail to. Maybe if you have non-premium people on your boat they either can't exit the boat when you are docked, or maybe only access the port. I suppose they would need some way out so they don't get stuck.
The problem there is lore. Currently, the location of FWI is unkown. It would require either the location or magical portal. I suggested you could do something like use the Breath of Luukos flowstorm just off the east coast of teras as a way point. Sail into it, arrive in the waters of Mist Harbor. Same thing to get out. I think it would be a fun example of some Bermuda triangle type stuff.
Even more fun if inside the Breath you got hit with some sort of monster fight or a boarding action by wind wraiths or something
Oh interesting! I had wondered about FWI lore around this.
Oh yeah, just did a little reading. It would be cool if the "entrance" was a squall that appeared randomly in different locations and you had to track it down.
That sounds neat, but I don't know who would bother really. The Flotilla for example is hard to go get to for no great reason. If there were boss level OSA fights in there, thats different. Then I can see the tracking being fun. Like a proper quest
Kraken boss fight!
Imagine a proper boss fight with stages. Like once you do enough damage to the head it submerges and a bunch of tentacles come up you have to fight, then maybe the head comes back up. Have to use ship cannons etc. Would be epic
I have yet to attempt to find the flotilla, is there anything on it?
Its got pretty much everything a port needs except a locksmith or pool.
Or a bank - Unless it's changed since I last went there
I thought it had a bank.
https://gswiki.play.net/images/gswiki/f/f3/Flotilla.png
Are you thinking of that other place? Brisker's Cove?
https://gswiki.play.net/images/gswiki/4/4f/Brisker's_Cove_map.png
Flotilla has a pawnshop, but no gemshop. and no bank.
That map shows a bank at the same spot as the pawn.
Well in Shattered it doesn't have the bank or the pawnshop, so it's tough for me to remember.
And yes, You've exposed again my #1 greatest weakness... reading words on the page. Especially when they're right next to the words I absolutely did read.
But still - no gemshop, no pool - Or I'd 100% use that as my base of operations... Also no shattered nexus portal.
If I remember right it also only has a fishing location, but no way to cook or buy gear.
Can you go to fwi from it?
I don't really OSA, but inherited a Sloop. Anyone know if this has much value? I've heard from a relatively wise person that OSA is a silver trap, and not to fall into it...
You take a moment to read over the deed...
If i'm not going to OSA, any idea what would this fetch?
Ship Name: The Fiery Grey Rum Runner
Mechanical Upgrades:
Sail Level: Upgraded to Tier 3.
Hull Level: 4
Cannons Per Side: 4
Cargo Hold Size: Upgraded to Tier 2 of 3```
Well, a sloop isn't a trap. A sloop is good value. You CAN make your money back with a sloop. will take time, but its not impossible
Personally? 5m. I don't think anyone would pay much for the upgrades. The name is good, that's worth something. Maybe 5.5m
Cool, i figured it would just be worth whatever the normal sloop cost was, but wasn't sure if the upgrades had any value. Thanks @chilly forge
I may just hold into this in case I feel like playing around with a Sloop and seeing what's out there
I'd pay for the name if it was me buying. If you want, I can always post the nightmare list of the 50 names I went through on my carrack. I kept all the results.
Honestly? Keep the sloop. Sloops are awesome. Its one of the best ways to spend 5m in Gemstone honestly. Anything beyond that is pretty questionable, but 5m is objectively good value.
That's a pretty good name - though I'm not sure how something can be fiery and grey at the same time
The Cruel Umber Sea Dragon
-All I gained was a 10m defecit.
My Carrack is probably my best - The Crazy Cherry Red Grace
But it's still an odd name
Right now mine is the lazy mauve potato. I got it earlier this week. Enjoying using it so far.
I spent way too much on my ship names....
a storm grey mistwood sloop - The Grey Hobgoblin
a bone white brigantine flying a black flag - The Golden Dawn
a bone white mistwood carrack flying a sable silk flag - The Silver Sun
a bone white mistwood frigate flying a vert cendal flag - The Onyx Eclipse```
Ran into the previous owner of the Fiery Grey Rum Runner.... let em have it back, since it kind of fell into my hands anyways. Felt like it was the right thing to do.
Might have to have one of you gents take me sailing someday to check it out.
While I agree it isn't the best way to make silver, It's a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend doing some sailing with someone just to get the experience and see if it is something you would enjoy.
I feel I got lucky with my first sloop name "The Alabaster Freedom". Though might sound a little racist.
I haven't dipped my toe into the OAS waters, as it were, but I would be lying if I said a big part of the draw is to see what name I would get.
I'll save you the time and silver. I'll just DM you my doomlist
Doom, you say?
now I wish I could pick a name for my sloop instead of having a random one assigned to it.... Boomer Doomer would be such a good name.... and if The Gnome ever gets his own ship it would almost have to be named The Soggy Elf
I'm guessing the assined name is mostly to avoid people for picking Bad Names?
yea, can't trust elves to be namin things.... all their ship's names would be offensive
please I'd just name mine Bane of Ta'Nalfein for REasons
You can always reroll the names
How's the node situation on boats? Wondering how much the exp/hour is on a boat + boat tasks vs regular hunting without bounties
Lustrous Bloo Sprout... ferst try. 😉
A sloop's a fast boat tho...so push alla da extry cannons oberboard! Ye'll NEBER sink nuffin wittem.
I'd like to actually have to fight a leviathan like beast, but thats just me.
bonus points if it swallows your ship whole and you have to blast the walls of its stomach with your cannons to get out
Was that using Midjourney? @granite tree I'm always amazed at what all gets cooked up
I found it on a fb site Cursed Ai, I have no idea which engine was used. I will ask the contributor though and get back to you
dont sweat it, was just curious.
have been debating starting to dabble in some of the generators, just not sure which one is best
if that could be a thing like the hw wyrms, that would be so great
what are the chances we could get osa salvage crates to be LOOTable....
Any word on the Captain's storage? Did the Test server implementation work/fail? Do we need more testing?
any chance we can get 118 to work on ships.... when the pirates spawn into a room with webs... they are completely unaffected, unlike any other mob who enters the room with the web in it. I feel like this is because they are spawning and not walking into the room
Noticed that too the other day. I swore it worked in warcamps, but it’s been years.
I haven't been seeing any issues with area web. I'm also not used to it having much of a chance to fire off on a pirate, so maybe me seeing low numbers isn't the norm I'm used to but an actual THING. But I have been seeing pirates get stuck in it if the battle takes me a little longer and they're able to get back up before I knock them off completely.
I may be wrong, but I believe when a mobile enters a room with an area web inside, there is an invisible roll that happens to cause them to become stuck in the web when the pirates spawn in the room I don’t believe they are being affected by the area web
I wonder if, because it's been changed to SMR, whoever is casting the web just hasn't have as much power behind it now as when it was CS based?
Hard to say, but that’s why I asked the general public in this channel to see if I could get some answers or possibly a resolution. So far it seems to be working
AS: +671 vs DS: +164 with AvD: +21 + d100 roll: +35 = +563

Just tossing out a request to maybe see some new offerings on ship customizations in the OSA system or elsewhere. We have a whole bunch of new woods and fabrics in the game that are common rarity and it would be nice to be able to use them in the OSA system. I think I really need a ghostwood ship!
For a task that is sinking a pirate ship, do you have to sink it with cannons or raze it?
either/or
dead is dead
I’d love to have eonake cannons…and balls
Just bought a sloop. Retrieved it, stocked it up with wood and cannon. Went to find it. Found it.
You see a sloop. Sprawling across the back of the sloop it reads, "The Weak Ivory Madness".
Did go sloop and this is what I get. What am I missing from >ship help basics and my wiki research ?
Bought shipped at the landing. They retrieved it for me. I see it. And ship info shows this, so now really confused.
Ships you own:
SLOOP Docked at: Kraken's Fall
At the landing where they retrieved my ship:
go sloop
You trudge up to a sloop.

You see a sloop. Sprawling across the back of the sloop it reads, "The Weak Ivory Madness".
you might have to go gangplank, I can't remember specifically though, so not 100% sure
When the boat doesn't have is gangplank down, go <ship noun>"
When the gangplank is down, go gangplank
"Go sloop" is not working for me so if that's not working and I see the ship at the landing dock, then why does the ship info show it is docked in kraken falls? I am confused. There's no gangplank to push, pull, or go

Thats….not right. You say Ship Info says its docked at KF? Make me sane and type SHIP INFO SLOOP and paste it here?

Five distinct piers made of water-roughened oak and teak come together to create a large docking structure with ample room for portage. Still can't go on it but we made progress. Ship info sloop doesn't say kraken falls anymore
Is it possible this ship name existed before and the random number generator gods chose it again? But there's some history? Kind of like cell phone numbers that get recycled? I'm still thinking user error on my part.
I noticed the "trudge," are you using a movement style all the time?
Yes
Bingo! We have a winner!

Interesting…
But I love trudging! Haha. It's going to mess up my whole rp style. Just Kidding. Thanks everyone for helping troubleshoot.
To trudge: the slow, weary, depressing yet determined walk of a man who has nothing left in life except the impulse to simply soldier on.

Koar's invisible rope pulling him along...now apparently as a captain of a sloop
Alright now....changing gears. I logged off about 2 hours ago on the sloop that I had just bought....you know the whole ordeal from before, I literally just went to the captain's quarters sat for a bit and logged out....and now I log in and get this message:
You feel yourself being pulled away.
[You were removed from the ship you logged into as it is not your original ship!]
[Kraken's Fall, Deadeye's Road]
ask handler for retr sloop
A dock handler says, "What? Your ship is over in Wehnimer's Landing last I heard! You'll need to transfer it here."
I am so confused now. Why did Ram go to Kraken Falls but my ship that I was, is still in WL?
Logging off on a ship or disconnecting on a ship for a time longer than ships duration is bugged. Has been since the start, I believe.
Ya, it does that. Can't log off on a ship. swing her into port, leave the ship, then log off.
Heh. I am putting move trudge back on. Hehe
I'd assist and ask to be sent back to where you were
I worked everything out. Had to run to FWI to get some coin, moved the ship to KF, then sailed over to WL. Fought a sloop, went for a swim, a couple of kind sailors helped me when the swiming got too rough, and now I am drinking some stout.
I offer personal sailing lessons if needed
I sounds like you might need to get that first hull upgrade
Sloops need (hard NEED) at least one hull upgrade. They only have 100 hp and a few lucky cannon hits from the enemy can just wipe the boat
Hey to whoever is watching.
- Captain's Quarter storage? Any updates? Would you like us to do more testing?
- OSA ferry travel costs...any chance we could get these standardized to 25k per trip for anywhere? They are kind of all over the place right now.
If you are in the landing, Icemule and Solhaven are 12,500k. But if you are going to TV, thats 35k. If you are going to Naliera, thats only 25k....but if you are IN TV and want to go to Naliera, thats .....20k.....which happens to be the same cost to go from TV to briskers cove.
I know that there is an attempt to be immersive with distances travelled, but if I an be candid, its pretty expensive to use these systems for the most probable use cases. To get to TI requires that you spend another 5k on a day pass as well, so a return trip to TI from the west is 75k. Thats...wildly high.
to add to this… that’s the same cost as a chronosphere and sometimes that can be quicker
On a different note though… travel to EN is over an hours via your own ship and thats while winding the sails
Teacher, Teacher...
lol what?
"Teacher, Teacher, you forgot to give us homework"
Gotta think like a game dev... They aren't gunna hear, "Oh, we should make sailing a ship faster" they're gunna hear, "the portmaster should take longer".
The update to making white sails enemy free was excellent. If it could double sail speed, also would be amazing
To be fair, its not an hour to EN unless maybe in a mow. On my frigate, its 25mins from solhaven to cape of good hope. Thats with no wind in sails. From there to end is about 20 more.
Blew up my first sloop! Well, one that wasn't mine.
Landing to Nielira in mow with winded sails was about an hour
Oof. Thats why ill never get a mow
I have a sloop too… but I prefer to sail my mow
yeah, I get it. I prefer the frigate generally...mostly because of what I paid for it
I mean I have all ships, I only use one… cause you can only use one at a time… sure would be nice if someone was listening that could implement a new feature to allow us use of our entire fleet.
how would that work?
Not a clue…
look stern
Trailing in your wake are ... as you bravely lead them onwards into pirate infested waters.
Whatever playermade script that had crew ambients on board was the dopest OSA upgrade that wasnt…im still bummed by how stoked i was when it was happening only to realize it was (a) only me seeing it and (b) it wasnt a staff improvement
Your craven ... flee over the horizon as an ethereal treasure galleon materialises ahead of you.
So ambients?
I can dig with the idea of having ambients of your ships trialing behind. Man i think osa could really be brought to life with some ambient options. Or an item you buy, place on deck like a DtH and it broadcasts ambients to the whole ship
Pack ice closes in behind you just as a krolvin merchant sloop rounds a passing iceberg. Your fleet desperately try to force their way through, but it looks certain the fight will be over first. All the more glory for you!
OSA has some great ambients, adding more via retrieving your fleet or buying an item would be a nice addition. An item like that is the sort of thing I'd be in the market for at Rumor Woods.
True and real
Thing is. 100% of all osa things have only ever been sold at DR. I dont know why, but thats the reality. Believe me, i put in osa requests on every event form. Ill add this to my rw requests
I’d still be happy with a simple custom cannons chit
Maybe a reinforcement chit… to add metal reinforcement to your hull, even if it’s non mechanical having an eonake reinforced faewood hull would be fantastic for aesthetics
Bonus level sail.... Spinnaker!
Bonus to da spinnaker... ye gitta pick da color combo and logo! (mine would be a bright yellow happy face spinnaker... cause pie rats are dum.)
Lobby fer mechanical upgrade! It mite cost more den a parrot in da crows nest but fer an under staff'd crew it'd be worth it!
Not sure if these have already been suggested but:
- Loot: treasure maps, a rare drop from captains that lead to the location of a procedurally generated island with diggable chest with substantial loothopper of some kind. Also just more and maybe different loot in general. Sinking millions to hunt something with inferior loot feels bad.
- Ascension: ascension tier mobs/ships off one of the towns you can sail from with treasure in line with the difficulty.
- Account bound ships: allow us to use our ships on our alts on the same account.
I blew up a brigantine with my sloop. Woohoo! I hope to remember that feeling of such a victory! ⚓
I really like that last suggestion
That first item was in the original design, but I think Retser ran out of steam/sanity before he put it in. (It would have needed to be a major update anyway... there's a lot build with something like that.)
Could we PLEASE change pirates so they won't go into the shadows when missing their right arm.... or make it so when they taunt us they come out of the shadows.... or allow all AOE abilities to be triggered without a target and attempt to force hidden critters into the open... or address this problem somehow. This is the second time I've removed a pirate captain's right arm and they've slipped into the shadows refusing to come out (leaving the room doesn't work.... apparently critters can't tend with their left arm). As a warrior soloing, I have no options other than waiting for it to bleed out.... which I've previously waited 20+ minutes and only had resolved cause I REPORTed about it.
heck, I've even tried berserking to no avail
yeah that sucks
gone from fried to fresh and clear in the time I've been waiting for this damn thing to bleed out
can't even pull up my gangplank and try to sail away.... this is lousy design
FINALLY.... got an open roll with SEARCH after more than 100 attempts and spotted that wuss....
kicked him to death
I'd have been here for HOURS waiting for him to bleed out with that much blood still left in him after 30 min of him bleeding in the shadows
I guess that's an incentive to train in perception
warcry cry all
I have 101 ranks in perception.... 1x is the baseline for all my characters
Not sure what success rate on a captain, but warcry is the warrior way to knock from hiding.
so I get to struggle through 50 ranks of warcry training or I'm just screwed? that's just poor design
You have a way as a warrior. You could also train 2x perception.
You could also chop its leg off first.
I usually do aim for captain's leg first.... but just cause you aim for it, doesn't mean it won't hit something else. I get there are options, but one of the outcomes that shouldn't be possible is for a character to become stuck with no way to resolve the situation other than logging out, REPORTing, or getting lucky with a 1/1000 open roll
Also its weird you couldn't disengage, pretty sure I've done that after a captain came out.
both times I've had it happen, I've gone to an adjecent room and peered over for several minutes waiting for it to come out of the shadows to tend it's wounds.... without it happening
the way out ought to be that you go back to your ship and sail away.
yea, tried it, didn't work
I'm pretty sure I've run away from a captain after being wounded to the point I couldn't cast.
for now, I'm looking for a 410 or 609 scroll
I never had too much trouble finding the captain. But I do run a lot of disabling
Yeah it’s a messed up outlier that could be addressed with critter mechanics adjustments.
But also….Carn’s Cry is my answer to most challenging critter situations.
Departing on or about 10pm EST from Solhaven's North Market! All are welcome of any experience range!
I qualify to upgrade to a brigantine. Question: Does enemy ship size spawn based on player ship size or are the spawns based on geography? I don't really want to get clobbered by big ships yet. I am still learning the ropes.
Just player ship size as far as I can tell. brig you'll get sloops, brigs, and occasional carracks
Storms give more spawns at the top end of the range, but they don't change the range. Bigger ships are only really an upgrade if you are clearing out the current ships too fast for your taste, or you want to have a bigger crew. If you need 50-60 rather than 20-40 enemies for a satisfying fight, then its an upgrade.
I am thinking I will stick with my sloop for awhile.
I personally have no plans to get anything bigger than a sloop, ever. I sail my ship solo, and even another sloop fries me and then some.
Yea, I was going to get a brig.... but the more I've thought about it I just can't come up with any real reason that justifies the cost. The number of enemies that gen on brigs is about at the limit of what I find fun and the time spent repairing a sloop is annoying enough... I certainly can't imagine spending even more time repairing. Maybe if the value of the crates found with bigger ships was greater, but I haven't seen anything that even hints at that.
brigatine is a trap
honestly...Traiva is right. Unless you have a RP reason, a MA army or you are the head of a sizeable MHO AND want to bring them sailing AND they will also come...Do not go above a sloop. Take it from someone who has walked this road
Storm guarantees +1 ship size. So, if you are in a storm, you cannot draw in a sloop. its gotta be brig or bigger.
The best use of the storm orbs from DR is to not get shafted fighting a 16 man sloop when you have a big ship and a dozen plus players on board.
Agree entirely with Ptolemy. The only current reason to scale up ship size is to match group size, or vice-versa.
Thanks all
Just once again putting in this request. Please enable a way to increase spawn rates significantly on ships, particularly larger ships. Right now, if I take my frigate out, and I fight a man o war, I am fighitng 100 or so foes 1 at a time.
It is a terrible experience, and the system doesn't allow for it to sped up meaningfully. Since we can't log off safely on a boat without all sorts of chaos, I would really appreciate this so I feel like I can take my boat and finish an enemy fight off in reasonable time
you don't like the ambush waves?
Let us buy crewmates for silvers or bloodscrip. They don't need to actually fight, just count the same as another player for spawn calculations. Tie the maximum number to notoriety.
They really don't keep up
and no, I'm not really a fan of slapping w/e/w/e/w/e back and forth ten times until something spawns. I find it really OOC/meta/game jarring
This sounds like a nifty idea
So....just because I like data. I just took out the frigate solo.
Used my signal wand to summon an enemy ship as soon as the cooldown from port was over. Drew a pirate carrack. Ran around to get ambushes from time to time. Total enemy crew was 44. Total time from Port to Ship boarding - 5:49. Time from ship boarding to dead captain. 24:41.
Total time = 31 ish mins total.
Obviously, the time to ship collision would be the same regardless of enemy ship size.
So that means if you are drawing larger class enemy ships (galleon/frig/mow) , the average enemy crew size is 85. (minimum of 50 for galleon and 120 max for mow).
Since thats close to double the 44 count I had, its reasonable to assume the 24 min mark is about 48 mins to kill an average large ship off.
So add the minimum of 5:49 to close to an enemy ship (more if you don't have the signal wand), we are easily 50m+ to over 1hr+ for a solo encounter. You can't break or log off, or your ship scuttles and you are ported to KF.
Did you have black flag set? Those numbers look like neutral rather than black. (30s spawn pulse rather than 20s)
Yup. Black
Its definitely 20s on a sloop, because it syncs with bearhug cooldown and 30s because it syncs with 320.
Seems like they spawn slower on bigger ships as well as being more of them.
Also I've found setting off traps to cause waves to skip if not timed correctly. If I'm not careful. It's a net loss on spawns.
I just go take a break in the captain’s quarters if I get interrupted when I’m soloing a larger boat
@chilly forge
thanks, it definitely was broken for me this morning. thank you
Can we get an update on when we can expect Captain's Quarters storage to roll into live. It was placed on test on 11/15/23. As we have passed the five month anniversary of that announcement, can we get more info please?
I will see what I can find out.
Uh. Ignore that. A message sent at 6am was once here
ONE Sloop vs. Sloop battle fills up my meager noggin...kinda amazed some ye WANT more opponents! But also also, if'n ye run aroun onna da enemy ship dey will pop out a tad fasser. Not dat I'd know nuffin but it seems to be "by design"...Don't jus stand der. ⛵
Its a tad faster for sure. But facing 100 foes 1v1 isn't ideal. Especially when the system punishes you severly by Gemstone standards for logging out.
So either the logout on boat issue needs a fix...or a way to spawn foes much faster needs to exist because one of the two is making it impossible for me to use my 300m silver ship.
I've proffered the idea of a different flag. Same ship timing as a black flag. Raise a flaming flag and send out more critters per wave.
Perhaps in waves of +2 over the norm. Only picked 2 because it's a boost for the smaller crew scenarios like what's killing Ptolemy without making it overpowered for large crews.
Oh im not dying, except of boredom
Yeah that’s what I referencing.
you can always just turn the ship away and disengage
Thats not a solution that works when you are suddenly having to leave, the game crashes or you lose internet. Disengaging is also not guaranteed
The game needs to let you ‘end’ the osa mode quickly and/or let you greatly increase the speed of a fight through faster pirate spawns
The game has a fix to let you return to port, which is essentially a tool for getting around what might as well be the logout bug, but it charges you $50 cash to buy it. Which is disgusting imo
Why can't you just retreat to the captain's quarters and log out?
Or.. if you don't want the 300m ship experience today for (reasons) use a smaller one instead?
The game will eject you to Kraken's Fall
If it would take me back to at least the port i left from, that would be one thing
Sure. And i do. But that doesn't make the 300m ship a reasonable return on value after seeing it in play for several years.
A few solutions to the log out problem could be
-
at a minimum, respawn the player in the port they left from. keep in mind, its not JUST the captain who suffers from this. if I take a crew of 14 players out and someone needs to log off for some normal life reason, I have to tell them to please AFK in the captain's quarters and I'll make sure they get back to a table when we hit port, because I don't want their experience on my boat to end with them ejected across the game world.
-
The port orb that now cost $50 should be made available for use in game for silver. It returns you and your ship. yes, I'm a broken record on this. This is, in effect, a bug fix. It should never have been sold for cash. it should have a been a core part of the system.
Making the bigger ships work for smaller crews include the above, but also
- Create a toggle for players, EVEN if its gatekept behind a paywall, where you can have something like a Crimson Flag setting that increases the number of critters per critter spawn while boarding by a multiple.
- Create a toggle for players, EVEN if its gatekept behind a paywall, where you can have something like a Crimson Flag setting that increases the number of critters per critter spawn while boarding by a multiple.
this is a pretty wild suggestion, to me, because you're saying you're willing to pay RMT to not press "e" for essentially the same functionality
I find spamming my way around the boat slamming w/e/w/e/w/e/w to trigger ambushes very unsatisfying gameplay
I wonder if they'd consider the addition of something like duskruin arena's SHOUT to trigger a movement ambush wave
I suggested that as a good Swashbuckler master ability
...actually, I just learned that the the $50 port orb will not return you to port if you are in a battle. That makes it more or less have zero value
I've done a decent amount of testing with this too, and find that it doesn't really speed things up. You have to time it very specifically. Trap waves can delay normal spawn waves if you do not keep a close eye on the time to next wave.
Also. There's only so many traps right? So you set off 7 traps and are down to 80+ waves from 90+ waves?
Not disagreeing at all. Just additional contribution to the . . . yeah this doesn't work so great thoughts.
Time for you to move to KF! Join us!
Ambush waves are based on the size of the boat, so if you’re solo taking out a larger boat it can speed things along considerably
Starting at 90+ waves solo, 7 ambushes would be worth a potential ~28 normal waves if you were fighting a galleon, so you’d be looking at 60+ waves left
it's faster for me to solo a Galleon than a Carrack because a galleon spawns 4-5 per ambush wave where a brig/carrack is usually 2-3
My frigate doesnt see 4-5 critters per ambush wave. Not even close. I get 1-2
Ambush waves are dependent on the size of the vessel you’ve boarded. Your vessel matters as far as the class of the enemy ships you’ll see. You could expect to only ever see a max ambush wave of 1-2 on a brig boarding action
Maximizing the ambush waves and killing all waves at roughly the same speed regardless of enemy count, you could expect to clear enemy carracks/galleons the fastest
#open-sea-adventures message
Gotcha. Thanks for that clarity. I definitely would pay silver/bs/whatever to have a way to spawn in 5 foes at a time on a regular basis. I sincerely think a 300m silver purchase should have some ongoing value to the player who is character bound to own it.
Also, I'd prefer the combat challenge of it. Right now, OSA is also very very easy content and I'd like a way to opt-in to a harder challenge
Thanks for clarifying on this point. I wasn't away and definitely seems like a bug that should be addressed here.
I feel really bad when I'm taking a player onto OSA for one of their first times and they log off or DC. I know they are about to get catapulted across the game world when they log back in
That reminds me, in a different way, when I made a few people co-host of a conference I was hosting on zoom once and people kept hitting end meeting to leave and killing the conference LOL. The OSA bit is just a bad situation with the log out.
Just curious if there was any info on the cabin storage on test?
I was able to get some information but not a lot. During testing, some behind-the-scenes issues with the system cropped up that will need to be looked into before this can be brought live. Unfortunately, I don't have a timeframe for a resolution.
Thats ok. I appreciate at least knowing. Thank you🤍
Perfect!
"Congratulations on your new ship name, Captain of The Feared Sanguine Vengeance!"
Bloody perfect!
How long did that take you?

Now I have more ship than I know what to do with. Just went from sloop to carrack.
Happy face flag! Gutstorm's "middle finner flag" is too spot on.
Is it possible to reasses the 20% cost to deed a ship for transfer. It is an extremely penalizing fee, and has cost me substantial money to offer ships as raffle prizes in order to promote the system.
It also means the loss on transferring a larger ship is so large, it is effectively not possible. 20% of a frigate is 50m silver to transfer. Even if i wanted to transfer it to another character on my own account, its an incredibly punishing sum.
I would be very happy with just having the deed be for the account rather than the character so you can use it on your other characters
Hi, question about the floatilla (I don't think that had been released yet last time I played). Does its location move around the seas randomly? Can it be anywhere in the entire OSA ocean, or does it stick to a certain ocean region? Are there any tricks or shortcuts to finding it, or is it just sail everywhere until you stumble across it? Thanks!!
Yes, it is supposed to move around, but sometimes it gets stuck
Yes, its a stumble across it situtation
Does its location move around the seas randomly?
Yes
Can it be anywhere in the entire OSA ocean
Pretty much
does it stick to a certain ocean region?
Nope
tricks to finding it, etc:
You can ask the handler (I think?) where it is and they’ll tell you which ocean it’s in
Oh sorry I didn’t see the GM response while I was typing!
I thought you could ask the handler where it is but maybe I made that up 🤔
been there several times with other things 😋
You can!
He gives the output like he does when he tells you the weather or the seas
Thank you all for the answers to my questions!!
it also appears on the map in the captain's quarters, so once you get close enough you don't have to sail in every single room thankfully
Is there a cooking fire on the flotilla now? The flotsam fling description implies cooking can be done, but I didn't think the flotilla was equipped for it.
the floatilla has been in the waters heading towards vaalor for awhile now.. .i have made a stop there in the past month.. its been that area pretty much as far back as i can remember now
It apparently was stuck there. The GMs manually moved it recently to get it unstuck and are apparently working on ways to help it randomly navigate better.
It needs a random teleport to a new sea occasionally.
Ships should have a ban or lock out feature.....why can anyone walk onto your ship? Should be some kinda of allow or invite list like a table at the inn.
...or accidentally walk onto the wrong ship and start loading the cannons before realizing they're not on their own, like I did once
This is why you keep the gangplank stowed
and why I jump dock
You can kick people off your ship
Can you do it at sea? What’s the command for that?
Found the OSA janitor hanging out.
I hear the Flotilla is still stuck over near Ta'Vaalor? I thought a fix was implemented?
It's not stuck there. It was moved there for an event on 7/7. I imagine it will move again at some point.
What was the event?
Part of a storyline for Ta'Vaalor, an RP event/silent auction.
There have been a few RP events utilizing the flotilla over the past six months, they've all been awesome.
The next one that I know of is calendared for 8/3, Fowl Fashion Feastday.
Since we didn't have a RoL this year, I have one fewer place to dump a bunch of silver. As such, I've built up enough that I can afford a MoW.
I think if I'm still able to afford it after the next DR, I'm gunna pick one up. HUGE waste of silver, but might be fun.
I hear ya!
Rings of Lumnis was open this year.
Open, but no entries, right? It wasn't active? So I couldn't spend my hundreds of millions on shattered entries
there were entries to run it
I'm confused. You were speaking of silvers and Agora Promenade was open. Rings of Lumnis could be run with entries. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something in the conversation...
It's largely moot - even if there were event boxes for RoL, I didn't buy them, and thus the extra cash
IIRC, there were no event boxes for RoL. You were able to buy entries from the SimuCoin store, of course.
First time to Nielira Harbor- such a beauty! Great shops and I love the koi feeding bowl on the bridge- great touch!
I found a couple spots in right before Nielira Harbor and a bit after where there was some 'looping' going on- my boat would either show that it was moving to a new place but not actually move or a section of water would simply repeat itself after a certain time, and I'd end up back where I started.
I couldn't get room numbers because we don't have a command for that yet, but I could describe where it was if anyone wants to confirm or if GMs want to take a look.
Did you try plugging the room description in the search bar here: https://lich-mapdb-room.ffng.xyz/
I'm guessing not, but maybe if you head back that way again (since you know where it is), you could see if you get anything.
Also, if it's a room error, starting a BUG ROOM report in the room (just type BUG to get the pop-up window in Wrayth and make it easy) will give the exact room info over to someone that can potentially make sense of it.
The search bar site doesn't handle OSA room descriptions as far as I can tell, probably because they are mostly generic. I wonder if Lich users can 'look ocean' and get a room number? I'd go back down that way and mess around to find the specific rooms again, but I'd rather just describe the general area and allow someone with a bit more back-end resources to take a peek. If I do end up running into it again I think using bug room while I'm there isn't a bad idea. 🙂
I just ran into it again! Room bug complete 😄
Does attacking an enemy vessel do anything besides damage the ship itself?
kills mobs on the ship
So you don't have to kill them when you hook up.
I fire at the ship on all my runs, except when somebody has a Cull task - then I don't so the # of mobs is a little higher.
In the time between first seeing the ship and hooking up to it, I can usually do a enough damage to kill 2-3 mobs on average. The more damage you do, the fewer mobs there are, but it's still faster to just kill them while on the ship.
So is the loot system similar to a Grimswarm camp, in that the more mobs you kill while on board, the better the loot? Or is that determined the second it spawns?
There's normal ships, and treasure ships. Treasure ships have more treasure. Bigger ships have more treasure.
Krolvin ship mobs drop boxes. The other two don't.
Brigand ship mobs only drop gems.
Undead ship mobs I think only drop silver.
A bigger, krolvin, treasure ship can actually get decent boxes. Add a loot boost and you're getting quite a lot of boxes.
i'm assuming each ship costs more for upgrades but i haven't found any prices for ship upgrades other than for a sloop, anyone have a list of them?
https://gswiki.play.net/Open_Sea_Adventures#Ship_Upgrading_and_Cosmetics
Assume 50% more for upgrades.
So if the MoW costs 400M, a fully upgraded MoW is ~600M
can anyone on your account use the sloop or just the one who purchases it?
Ships are tied to characters.
kind of figured as much, thanks
I am close to buying a Frigate...someone push me over the edge. I've been livin on the edge for over a month about it. I can't see myself going man'o'war.
Previous post not sponsored by Aerosmith or Man'O'War
I'm starting to see things in a different way.
I neber fire da cannons at nuffin...why kill any greedy loot fountains? I less den neber allow anyone to shoot da peashooters atta krolbin treasure boat! <growl> I'll make ye walk home.
(mines a swift sloop...made fer outrunnin anna boardin fast tho... differnt idears fer da big boats)
Some little helpful stuff and hopefully helpful opinions.
Each ship size has a slight variance in number of boxes you'll get out of the pile. The merchant and treasure tags determine the additional number of boxes received from the loot pile. +1 or +2.
Broke pirates . . . er Undead pirates . . do drop gems. Just at a much reduced rate.
Like Dwi mentioned. Cannons are just wall decor. Maybe sink the sloops out of anger.
I think I spent around 500m for my MoW. Though I do remember balking at expanding the cargo hold for the crazy prices. Sales and Hull. Everything else is a waste.
There's not alot of reasons to get a MoW. You have a greater chance of not getting a sloop which is the only boat I think doesn't get heads full for me. That's great. Boats past a carrack are going to be ALOT of killing after your head is completely full. Not great. You get more chances at treasure. Mixed bag depending on the type of pirates you get. So a great/not great. More notoriety. You absolutely slay notoriety when everyone works on tagging groups coming out of the big boats. That's really great. The cost of getting your boat out of dock is silly. That's not great. Even naming costs way more. So not great.
MoW's are super cool. Frigates are beasts too. Amazing if you're chasing notoriety. I'd have bought a floating island for combat if I could have. I spent my first 2k runs in a carrack and to me they are the most efficient if you aren't carrying a group greater than 8 ever.
Half and half experience and opinions.
I just solo OSA, so I've stuck with a sloop.... I might upgrade to a brig eventually, but the slow spawn rates make the 30-40 enemies on a brig when you encounter them kinda tedious. Not sure I have the patience to solo more than that.
Can more than one character on an account purchase a sloop?
Yes, each char can have their own ship(s)
Each character can have one of each type ship.
The owner is the only one that can retireve/store,stock it at the docks, do repairs at the boatswain, and depart from shore.
That's where I'm sitting with it. The money isn't the problem, it's just the value you get from going to full distance just isn't there for me. I'm sure I'll buy the frigate today or tomorrow. Well I should say the silvers are involved because it's correlated to the perceived value. But more specifically the leap of change of the silvers.
If I have enough cash after DR, I'ma get a MoW because I can
It's not uncommon for a fully cutomizable Frigate or MoW to go up for auction. I think there's even been an upgrade for auction before. So with DR around the corner. Consider that as well. Buyer's remorse is an annoying debuff with a long duration.

Whenever I go up against a man'o'war...I think of this:
I'm buyin a Frigate...
Was gunna do a MoW, but Frigate seems like a better idea. Maybe if I get a ludicrous amount of silver in the future, I'll get one of each. But I'm gettin a Frigate.
This is what I went with as well and purchasing this still allowed for engaging with Mows. Win win
In my experience the most fruitful ships are krolvin treasure. My last krolvin treasure mow I gained 387k silvers from loot from creatures (115 on the ship) and gained 27 boxes (included in loot total above).
I always use a major loot boost for krolvin treasure and merchant ships as well so I'm sure that helped in total loot amount
Is there still a wiki page with the upgrade costs per ship type? I vaguely remember help populating the costs for a sloop when OSA was released... but can't find the page now.
I'm in the market for a carrack, but want to know how much extra I'll need at first for a few upgrades in sails and hull. I recall the costs were different (higher) for the larger ships.
I see the numbers are still there for the sloop itself, but not for the other ships. I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Grabbing my frigate this morning. All I can think about is potential buyer's remorse...err...NOT.....it's this, (the song):
And this song: https://youtu.be/oVWEb-At8yc?si=4yiHTjDLYQ-PjLg3&t=102
I would take about 10m extra. You only need to upgrade sails and hull, everything else is cosmetic.
There is no official breakdown cost of upgrading on wiki that I've seen
Brought another 30 mil. Yeah, didn't know.
Oh I was responding to Shield, but same concept sails and hull only needed everything else is cosmetic
Henceforth, you are now the captain of the The Tasty Beige Ship!
Doh!
good luck naming it, cost me millions to get the perfect name. They should just allow us to submit a sadie scroll or something for a custom name instead of wasting silvers on constant name changes. It highly annoying
I agree. That's a good idea.
Add that to the list of QoL improvements for OSA.
Can you make a note or send a log of the upgrade costs? I'll update the wiki. Maybe I can do a brig or carrack in Test.
Yes, I remember hull and sails as a priority. I would describe cargo as slightly more mechanical than cosmetic, as its holds your boxes and supplies. I used to open an engagement some cannons for fun and role experience for my crew, but agree they are 100% optional.
Huh. I have to say, it's been fun seeing what names are generated and how Captains fit their style and the ships decorations around the name. I took my sloop as is and chose sails, colors, my captain's style, etc, based on its name... but huh. "Tasty Beige" would be hard for me to work with.
Anybody with a bunch of silver in Prime can buy each boat in Test and see what each upgrade costs then add it to the wiki.
It seems somehow appropriate that this would be done by a whale.
Cargo for the bigger ships is hugely overpriced for the results. Been sailing for a little bit now, and never found a time that the cargo hold was useful.
💯
Good input. I looked at my sloop, and I did the first and second? cargo upgrades, but not all of them. I knew I did that for a) enough supplies (I could run out of cannon balls and wood if I had bad luck with the supply crate), and b) hold some boxes and delay my return. The last upgrade just wasn't worth it, even on a sloop.
If you want to get really cheap . . . cheap on the OSA scale. For the biggest ships, you don't really need to upgrade the hull all that much. I doubt I ever lose more than 200-300 hull. So some of those hull upgrades aren't really much value either.
My preferred MoW upgrade order is . . .
- Cosmetic because heck yeah!
- Name because feed the addiction
- Not getting that hurt
- I don't sail the behemoth places
- I don't shoot things
- I don't store stuff
I don't think you can use "cheap" and "MoW" in the same sentence 🙂 But if you can afford a MoW, it's all relative
You can't
But then the cool names I lucked into for mine will seem ever so slightly less cool.
The Strong Sage Wind and The Vast Blue Storm
Yea Bec I so want a ship named the Fast Purple Turnip ..not
I would prefer that marginally more than the Slow Purple Turnip?
I deeded The Terrible Ebon Whale because I couldn't stand the name being lost to the void but it wasn't right for me.
Took me another 5m, on top of spending 300m for frigate upgrades included to get The Jolly Jet Black Madness which so fits my friends and I
Madness was one I was kinda hoping for
I forget who... but an early OSA player had an ... Terrible Orange Onion? They rolled sailed with it. That was part of my inspiration to just lean into whatever name my ship had and work with it.
For my Sloop captain (an archer), I adapted his arrows (woods, colors, fletchings) to match the ship. Even waited for some parrot feathers to drop from... I forget. A wizard familiar?
THATS where the random owl feathers are coming from...
I actually used owl feathers, too, on my bodkin tips. The figurehead is a haon hawk-owl
Parrot feathers are that damnable parrot in Mist Harbor. Emerald green ones anyway.
⬅️ totally hasn't chased the thing around collecting feathers for a special weaving project
Ah yes, that's right. They were emerald green. Unsure if I can get them from a wizard familiar, although that would be nice so I could match the color to my ship's bird.
Always just find them laying about until you're actually looking for them and then he's on vacation or something and nowhere to be found.
And if you do find him, he's jealously guarding his feathers and giving you the stinkeye.
I think I picked up my stock of feathers when it frequented/stuck at the locksmith pool. I'd pick the pool to keep my head full and pick up feathers as they dropped.
Someone remind me how to use the net-catcher to get the extra supply crate?
I tried to analyze, push it, and pull it. IIRC, the swimming doesn't actually have a check for swimming, but don't remember if encumbrence is a factor.
fire net at crate, pull net
Ahh, fire. Of course.
Well, that was a fun evening re-learning how to sail. Stumbled across a new port, as yet unmapped into lich. I really should ferry my sorcerer to these spots to record the planar runes
ya can't but I asked for the restrictions to be lifted at Con.
Huh. That’s odd. I thought the only area teleport restrictions were merchant events.
Does that include Kraken Fall?
no not KF just the port only places likes Briskar's Cove
nielira harbor is prolly on that list too
I guess I understand it... I think if the rooms are open for teleportation, then they're open for teleportation: rings, planar travel, etc.
Since they're so close, physically, it would be difficult to explain/justify in-game the "why" if they made them out of the region, when Glaoven (s?) is a cannon's shot from Icemule Trace
Do any/all of these smaller harbors have a bank? I am wondering what would happen if I docked there, logged, and my ship was stored.
I explored Glaoveln a bit, but was tired at that point. Did not find a bank.
it has a bank! there is a map on the wiki: https://gswiki.play.net/Glaeve
Heh. That map has a bit more detail than the one I was looking at...
https://gswiki.play.net/Isle_of_Glaoveln
Is it a safe and accurate guess that all of these places have banks?
Yes, at this point all ports have banks.
And debt collection services
They typically have pawnshops but not necessarily gemshops. And afaik, no picking pools.
Reading up. Bird is top priority... Unless one comes by default now
TBH, now that there's boards in every port, the bird isn't nearly as necessary anymore
The Feared Olivine-hued Hobgoblin
the birds were never really necessary. I mean for an avid osaer, its nice to have especially if you stay out for a longer period of time before going back in. I have one and hardly ever use it
Before the boards, they were necessary if you weren't based in KF
fair enough..forgot about boards not being available in every port. I wish we could upgrade the ships in every town as well or change roles. Its a pain to have to go to KF for everything
That's for sure
Sure. But. Counterpoint. Your first ship you encounter after leaving port is delayed compared to subsequent ships you can potentially encounter. Returning to port to do a turnin reduces potential ships/hour! The less you need to interrupt and return, the better.
Given how you can repair mid engagement to keep hulls up... Sails are probably a good regardless .. but just in the grand scheme of time implications, bird seems like the biggest convenience/time saver of all investments. Plus, it's once and done, and not teired like the 3 sail/hull upgrades
it is 100% a convenience and time saver Ill give you that but still not necessary. I understand the delay between ships going back and forth to port and sea, but its not really much of one to me since I have a fully unlocked summon wand. But everyone does OSA different from the other so all valid points here
True, but, I also don't think the hull upgrade is necessary either. Sail is definitely nice though
At least on Carrack+
I still think the best ship for osa system to purchase for the price point and over all effectiveness is the Carrack. I miss my carrack only reason I traded it in was to get the frigate for a higher enemy count occasionally. I like taking on man o wars.
Anything beyond carrack is completely unnessary to purchase unless you have 14 to 20 friends who come sailing with you to mke it worthwhile
Completely agree, and love my carrack
But, also love loralaii's man-of-war when we all get together. Having two birds and so much space to spread out if we do have multiple levels ranges fighting are just great opportunities
yea, thats the other advantage of the bigger ships is more room to spread out for different training levels. Good point
So, really, the best bet is just befriend the folks with bigger ships rather than fronting the silvers yourself.
haha right. My frigate does me just fine as the highest number of people ive had on it at once fighting is 12
Carrack is also pretty well tailored to one task completion per ship. Unless you find a small sloop.
Oh i run from sloops honestly, waste of my time
With a frigate, may be faster to just shoot them down if there's a cannoneer in the crew
yea my crew has mastered all OSA roles, and i can easily switch one or 2 to cannoneers which I might just do instead of running from em which might eat up more time. Never looked at it that way
It depends on your goals. If your goals are xp/hr, I'd argue going to port between ships is the only way to go.
And if you goal is silver/hr, you should be doing something else - but even then, chaining ships isn't really very useful.
Small ships are best because your goal is to finish tasks. And 2/3rds of the tasks are 'sink' or 'kill a boss', and those are completed whether it's a sloop or a MoW. Since Cull tasks are a thing, I'd say brigandines are best, so you can finish those in 2-3 boats, while still having a lot of opportunity to quickly finish ships.
Culling task are the best.
Are the types of enemy ships you can encounter weighted in different areas, or is it always random? I seem to be seeing more krolvin and fewer "pirate" ships as I took my sloop to the seas again. The krolvin are nice for boxes, but I think I've had this "Kill Pirate Captain" task for 10+ ships. I keep getting ethereal and krolvin.
completely random
That was my thought, but wanted to check as RNG has been weird if so.
ive had a few times where i have an etheral task and for half a day get nothing other than krolvin and pirate ships which drives me nuts and seems widely off in variety given
Tasks are the fastest way to build up reputation, yes? I didn't track reputation before, as... it just came naturally and didn't affect anything besides cosmetic choices.
task yes, but everytime you sink a ship you also get reputation
Turning in crates, too.
Volume of kills is by far the biggest gain, but that requires lots of investment.
What do you mean? I haven't noticed reputation gains directly for killing a pirate, like Reim (I think). I haven't checked between kills, though.
I think an OSA task is 100? crate turn-in and razing a ship.... maybe 10 each?
I used to try and compete on the leader boards with frigates in my carrack. It required non stop boating. Once i got in a MoW it was so much faster.
Ah, I am looking for Kraken Falls reputation, not notoriety.
My ship captain and crew has been mid level (50s then, 70s now). I have a capped character who will be a carrack captain, so I am shuttling him around in my sloop, and spreading out when boarding.
For rep just turn your boat over and over and fire cannons and let your boat get crushed to fix. Everything is rep on OSA.
I'll be honest: that doesn't sound accurate here. Firing cannons, navigating the wheel, repairing the ship, etc, will all increase your role experience (Captain, Swashbuckler, etc). I don't think any of that affects reputation with Kraken Fall
It doesn't affect rep no. Sinking, turning in task will
The game tells you when you gain notoriety
Yup. Which is not the same as reputation, nor is it the same as role experience. All are three different things. Some activities will increase all three, though: razing a ship and turning in a salvage crate will raise all three, I think.
Your Reputation starts out at Neutral and increases by performing the following tasks:
Turning in Salvaged Crates
Killing Pirates
RAZEing ships
Turning in completed tasks
During the boarding process, if you have Navigator set, do you benefit by continuously turning the wheel at the ship? Or does the benefit max out after the second TURN?
Each turn closes you a bit more. Keep turning if you want to get there faster.
Awesome, thanks.
So...um...yeah. Someone is selling this
FYI - Icemule crates still have Icemule notes, not the new bank notes. NBD, just a thing.
Disregard. You're right.
I retested this and this is not accurate. Killing pirates does not increase reputation with KF. Turning in tasks seems to provide largest amount at 100 reputation.
if anyone knows who ever has power.. maybe suggest havin da winds blow the floatilla to the waters around solhaven/landing and kraken.... its such a waste being were it is now..
Be nice if it went to a random room every month or something
Yeah it didn't even make it close to KF during the Feast of the Fists!
On the autumnal equinox, the flotilla travels to waters near (but not too close to) Kraken's Fall.
Well, I can confirm boxes from the treasure pile can generate those envelopes for Naidem.
Didn't get one from a salvage crate, though, but only a sample size of 5, and some of those may have been before it was turned on.
I think it has to be a BOX. So the salvage crate really wouldn't quite count. Which I'm personally fine with.
But when you hand the crate to the dock handler, they give you a box that looks like a regular treasure found box with loot generated treasure inside. That one is not locked/trapped, though, and it auto disposes of itself, so may be similar yet different to a treasure found one
look ocean
[The Great Western Sea - 29038] (u-7117010)
Choppy waves roll over the ocean with cool winds that rise from the water. Low hanging clouds begin to push their way across the sky. The moon fades behind a thick mist.
Open waters: north, east, south, southwest, west, northwestFar off, the distinctive pattern of rain can be seen erupting from the darkened skies to dance against the ocean's surface.
fish here
You can't fish here.
frown
You frown behind your veiled cameline headscarf, but no one can see it.
we have requested this so many time, hopefully sometime in the future we will be able to fish from our boats
with the risk of hooking a kraken's tentacle and getting flung overboard then dragged into the deep!
thatd be hilarious now I want it more, and I hate fishing
I heard that's how you get to the ASC zone.
Hah naa but I'm sure drownings will happen at Sailor's Grief. Save those totem heads with Niima's Mercy in them! But I've always thought underwater combat would be kinda cool.
If/when boated fishing becomes a thing, danger should 100% be baked in. It's certainly not safe trying to catch larger sea faring fish IRL like marlins or tuna.
Oh geez. Get your puncture protection. Sword fish crit to the eye!
I've been doing a bit of testing. Doesn't appear that pirate waves will spawn if I'm in the forward deck or forward crow's nest on MoWs. This explains why I see delayed waves if I run around trying to set off traps. Pirate's spawned through traps still happen though and do fight.
Checked out Frigates and Galleons and didn't see any problems related to this. Obviously Frigates are broken with the the incorrect map.
Thinking about buying into this, anyone have recommendations for size and setup for a 3 man team(warrior, rogue, wiz)?
Sloop is best for xp/hr. Smallest boat that can hold your crew
Go big or go home. (Meaning quickly get notoriety and then buy biggest ship you can afford). Start with a sloop or tag along with someone else until you have enough to then buy a frigate or larger.
You can get enemy ships +1 of your current ship size
I forgot how expensive these were.
And +2 if in a storm I believe
The bigger the boat. The more variety in ship sizes you can get.
Enemy sloops for me are not a guaranteed full head. So a brig or up is a full head. Past a brig and I’m killing for just light loot and notoriety.
Now if you want to grind notoriety for titles. Bigger is better.
Plus all the above statements are accurate. Well can’t chime in on storms as I just sailed Carracks and MoWs.
For expense. Sails and hull are all that matter.
I think sloop is great to learn and play around. Carrack is the next good size, for up to 9 characters (I think) and not outrageously expensive.
You can only get +1, storm or no storm, but storm makes the larger sizes more likely.
can you solo a large ship though? seems like your crew size should be an important consideration, but maybe not?
Crew size determines the wave size. So big boats don’t get harder. They just take longer. Crew size is definitely a consideration when deciding what size boat to sail.
I like big boats and I cannot lie.
oh cool, so if you sail a large boat with a small crew you just get more waves but not harder waves. nice!
ive done it solo on my warrior on a carrack and got a galleon instead of 5 to 6 minutes with a crew of 5, it took like 17 to 18 minutes to take out 50 enemies
it sent 1 enemy majority of the time but 2 sometimes, long process
and here I get bored enough soloing brigs that I'll try to force them to ambush lol
just depends on how much you love osaing
or have someone buy a bigger boat for you and deed it then hand it to them. You dont need the notoriety unless you buy from the NPC
One thing I am sincerely sad about regarding OSA is the bounty system
itd really be nice if we could gain bounty pts past Notoriety to charge our adv badges, upgrade ships (if needed) or purchase things like the wands for summoning ships, upgrades for them etc or simple things like that
yeah, at first i really liked that i could get a OSA bounty without having to abandon my existing bounty because i was just tagging along with someone else. i quickly changed my mind though since i need the adv guild bounty points for charging enhancives
I mean I have 600k notoriety and all I get is a title for it. It sucks tbh
yeah i feel you. your idea of getting adv guild bounty points once you max notoriety sounds like a good solution!
so much notoriety = custom ship names would be nice too
Or at the very least discounts for ship upgrades at KF based on notoriety. Needs more than titles.
Is there a way to disengage and leave once you've already boarded another ship short of killing everything on board? Got bonked in the head half-way through and didn't have the herbs to heal the head scar so I completely lost my ability to cast spells
not that I'm aware of.... if you're going to solo OSA, it's a good idea to have a good stock of herbs on you. Something I came close to learning the hard way myself
you can pull the gangplank but you'll have to deal w ith things trying to get you if it fails
If you get stuck at sea no way to dock there is a scuttle Option which will sink your ship and cause you to pay a fine of 50k and have wait time of 10 min (I believe) before getting ship back out and hunting again
I've had to do that before twice, but you lose all loot , etc
I’ve literally fled from pirates with some left on my ship lol
I pulled up the gangplank but wasn't able to get the ship to leave
I have too lol it's always fun to find stowaways
I do wish alternative bounty things would give some advguild currency just as an in general thing about the stuff up top
Also let us increase\decrease the difficulty like advguild tasks
Turning the wheel gives you a chance to break free and sail away once you've pulled the gangplank. Just keep trying different directions till it works.
Yes, turning the wheel works, and yes, killing stowaways is fun while trying to get away from the pirate ship. Also...give us the chance to make deeds interchangeable with others!
Is there a magic trick to kick the upgrade system? I upgraded sails, material and color on my sloop but none are applying. I stored/retrieved it like 5 times, waited an hour and did it again... nothing.
storing and retrieving always did it for me. I haven't upgraded a ship in a year, though. Are you sure you upgraded the right ship (if you have more than one) ?
Yeah I only have a sloop, I changed the color and material and it still just appears as a plain old slope.
I thought storing and retrieving were all that was needed.
It's good now, who knows but no more plain sloop!
Sea kobolds have unionized.
ok, this storm preventing me from getting back to port or even finding out where I am is absolutely not cool, esp given there's no indication how long it will be until I can do anything to get back to town
i've had my role set to navigator since i started osa for that specific reason
luckly I dumb luck got the right direction to return to port.... but when RL if pushing me to log out, it's frustrating as heck
I 100% agree with you. The intensity of these storms is a bit ridiculous and I too found myself for almost 30 minutes the other day navigating around the same spot to maintain my current course.
I understand they want to give the seas a different experience than the rest of the game but don't make it to where it's not enjoyable and comes to the point of wanting to log.
Is that something new? I don't recall storms affecting navigation, but it's been ages since I've been out on one of my ships.
(tries to clear some cobwebs) - Oh I guess it's the map reading when the storm is present?
yea, if you don't see which direction the storm blew your ship (ex. cause you're in combat like I was), you can't read your map to see which direction you need to go
Yeah. It’s tough in a storm. In that situation, I pull up the OSA map on the wiki, and head for the coastline then hug the coastline to the port Im trying to get to.
Is that the new area? I don't recall ever being moved by a storm.
they can move you, not new
Storms can shift you a small distance. Usually a square for me. I then peer and move back to port.
the new areas 6 most southern seas are constantly storming though, so bring your navigator if you plan to explore
I never go any further than right off the RR port.... until/unless I decide to go back to KF to make cosmetic purchases for it
If you get blown off of port. You can peer one square in any direction when you’re on the deck.
Can we please have being disconnected while on a boat NOT kick us all the way to KF? closest town, or back on teh boat fine but when I lose my internet and come back on and see I am on the boat, then suddenly get rubber banded across the seas to KF>..it's truly annoying
Navigator role will prevent this from being a problem (the storms)
not always
Yes always… veteran and master navigator can see the map
Thus you can cross reference the master map and keep yourself on course, if you can read a grid map that is.
Ship scuttle isn't working for me , says I don't have ship while I'm standing on it. Haha logged out and logged back in (to see if that would fix it) and I'm at Kraken Falls now. Is there a different command and I'm doing it wrong on my side, I could not get it to work.
Also, is there a link to the best most current OSA map?
https://gswiki.play.net/Open_Sea_Adventures/maps
Not sure if these are the best, or current. Except Thandiwe's map, thats brand new from the new release
It's linked there, but not obvious... the google drive one is awesome.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_kiWkZSmOoMaXg1-I3VRvtdpNg-gO87u/edit
osa was borked all day yesterday and doing some weird things for folks. I wish theyd fix the kinks before adding new ocean areas although I love the new areas.
scuttle is the command youre correct
The logging out in landing on a ship has been known to send you to KF much like the pup tents were sending folks once inside to vaalor and illistim. Its a bug that needs to be fixed as well
TY for saying that, I have another character that did a lot of OSA when it first came out, so getting back into it with a different character is a lot of relearning. And the seas are much larger now
Aint no large seas...only small boats! 😉
Boats do not fare the sea… that’s what actually determines weather a vessel is a boat or a ship. Its ability to sustain itself at sea.
"weather a vessel": pun or typo?
punpo
Why can’t it be both?
Pay attent'shun Cappin Peggy..it is NOW 😉
Had a question come up somewhere else. How exactly do you retrieve the salvage crates that are floating in the Ocean
There is a net-flinger on many(all?) ships now. Or you can drop anchor(I would suggest dropping anchor) and jump in and get them.
AFter you fire the net-flinger, whats the command to retrieve it. The person who asked couldn't figure that part out
yoiks. I'm not sure.
Fair. Drop anchor and swim for the win
I believe it's PULL NET (or whatever the noun for the flinger is), but it's been quite a while since I bothered with it.... honestly, though, if you're getting the salvage crates from the cargo hold, you really shouldn't need the ones that float up
I think it is PULL, and it took me a bit to get the verb last time, too
Helpful hint #8393: Grab dem supply crates last thing befer ye torch da emeny bessel! Dey gots a self destruct timer...anna ye mite fergits to go below anna fill up yer supplies rite away.
Hello all, I'm considering starting OSA but the price looks really steep. Is it worth the high cost?
50m for a carrack is the best bang for your buck tbh and all you need to upgrade really is the sails and hull. Everything else is cosmetics/optional
You'll never get back what you spend in loot osaing but for your own personal hunting grounds without having to worry about others. 100% worth it
Mainly depends on your game play
Friends make the sea fun as well and a Carrack can hold 8 ppl if I remember correctly
Id be happy to give you a tutorial sometime on my frigate
Appreciate the feedback. I think I will hold off for now. I have an endless amount of player services I need to buy first.
Completely understand feel free to come sailing anytime. I run 2 ships, one out of KF Saturday thru Wed, and one out of Landing Thursday and Friday around 10 to noon or 1 daily
B.O.A.T stands for bust out another thousand. Just sail with others to get your notoriety/reputation/tasks done until you're ready to buy.
A sloop at 5 mil + 2 mil for upgrades is one of the best purchases you can make. Your own solo hunting ground. That's all you need.
A hole in da wotter into which ye pour money! 😉
Crazy question. Say I got an escort bounty. If I wanted to, could I just lead my escort onto my sloop and sail to my destination?
Not asking if it makes sense to do because it probably doesn't, but...could it be done?
Dwi tried this… it worked, but bandits did not spawn and the escort was unable to disembark the ship
Oh I see. So I guess Dwi had to kill the escort.
Da fact dat dey dint know how to swim....dat's not onna me!
(tho a reg'lar esscort bounty...anna wanderin' near dat docks inna mos towns will not only "spawn" badnicks but will also amaze yer frends! Also it really frites strangers.) 😉
(more amazin to me... ye kin do dis trick inna da fiter's guild! Hah!) 🙂
(Shhh...notta bug...a flippin featshure)
If'n I memmer rite...da goal was crazier... I wanted Pie Rats AND badnicks on da same boat! Da tourist wassa afferthought.
Well I just wanted to get the escort to get on and off the boat. You see, I sailed to Ta'Vaalor for the elf pawnshop festival or whatever and I've been bumming around there doing bounties and OSA tasks because I don't feel like sailing back yet. Then I got an escort from Ta'Vaalor back to Icemule and I thought hmmm, maybe I should try this one weird trick...
Heh...too bad Cappin Peggy chimed in...cause my inner demon was tellin me to tell ye dat it only works if'n ye sail frem da Landin' to elf town!
Time fer da irregular reminder dat salbage boxes (da re-stockin ones) dat ye gits frem Pie Rat boats gots a timer onnem? I. E. grab em last thing, so's ye gits a few more seconds befer dey go poof!
So many times I been headin down to da bins..."oh yeah..dis crate fulla balls n' planks...."
🌪️
One of the first things I tried in OSA was to get an escort to Teras so I could walk around town saying "Look, you can get escorts on Teras". I couldn't get them to disembark except where they boarded, though I thought I did get ambushes marching them back and forth along the boat. Maybe the ambush spawning got fixed but not the boarding.
Question...does anyone know if 1m bounty points from OSA count towards one of the Ascension milestone?
2. Great Expectations Reach level 40 Yes
3. Master of My Fate Reach level 60 Yes
4. High and Mighty Reach level 80 Yes
5. A Grand Triumph Reach level 100 Yes
6. Up to the Task 1,000,000 Bounty Points No
7. Wizard: Daily Grind Master a Guild Skill Yes
8. Master of your Craft Master an Artisan Skill Yes
9. All the World's a Stage... Acquire 10 Full RPAs Yes
10. Big Game Hunter Kill a Challenging Creature Yes
>```
I thought OSA tasks award something that isn’t bounty points
It does stupid titles nothing else
I was just wondering if it counted towards ascension milestone like regular bounty pts do
No, that’s specific to bounty points
Ty 😊🙏
Reputation.. that is Also part of it to get to alley
Rep and notoriety, right?
Yes but it literally stops after alley so it's useless
Wish it would overflow into regular bounty system after you hit Alley or something worthwhile for OSA system
Would it be possible, please, to consider adding a "ask captain about return" to have the captain cancel a trip and immediately return you to your port of origin?
I believe logging out and back in does this
It does not -- it appears it depends on how long you log out for. It may return you back to port. Or, you may log out (for say 6 minutes) and find yourself 4 minutes from the other port.
Or on someone elses boat ride
So far most requests made for the OSA system has been backlogged or gone unanswered. I.e. Fishing , revamping bounty system, custom names, etc
The only improvements I have seen is adding more areas
anyone having task eligibility reset when they log in? this is the second or third time i've logged in to "You can get another task in about 10 minutes". I've definitely been logged in long enough on this character today for that to have reset since I sailed to Teras 3 days ago.
Is it an in game timer on the bounty/osa tasks?
The answer Retser gave to most improvements we asked for was that we are lucky we got what we got because the entire system was very different at first and he had to wheel and deal just to get the price of ships reduced and that they were originally MUCH higher
At this point it is what it is.
I love the OSA system, you know that. So I'll continue to sail and be grateful for what was possible
never seen the weather trying to kill me before
[SMR result: 46 (Open d100: 12)]
You dodge a bolt of lightning with grace and ease!
For me.. that lightning bolt hit my head and vaporized it. Like my second time on the water
You can use the following titles from the QUEST-PRE group:
Seaward *
that also happened on the last outing! done with roles!!!
I love these.
"Come at me, storm! Ha!"
Rovvi has died once from a strike
You can use the following titles from the QUEST-PRE group:
Lightning Bait *
there I fixed it
if only that was a real title, i'd run around with it
Regattas might become a thing for bragging rights. I mentioned it at Con and staff took interest.
Race from A to B or round-trip with or without cannon fire? What would you want to see.
both sound fun
Options:
a) cannons only
b) obstacles (storms, whirlpools)
c) no holds barred (ships, obstacles, cannon fire)
Dying on a ship is entirely too punishing, esp is you're soloing OSA. Aside from normal death mechanics, you're also potentially dragged to a town other than the one you're based in, have to pay 25k in fines, and have to wait another 5 minutes on top of however much time it took to get rezzed/decay, travel back to where you started, and wait for yer boat to sink
....and the details of all this are either nonexistent or hidden away in some corner of the wiki that's completely unintuitive.
oh, and I just found out you're out ANOTHER 5k to retrieve your sloop after the aforementioned 5 minutes.... this is nuts
all cause I've been working on guild skills and forgot to put my armor back on
Sounds like you shouldn’t sail when yer doing guild work. Death isn’t supposed to be a walk in the park. I mean… we are rewarded for it now but that’s a story for another time
the 90's were more than a quarter century ago, get with the times
Really wish they would fix that. I died on an alt yesterday and had to depart and ended back up in landing.
If I wanted to be in landing I wouldn't have paid to get to KF etc
It's incredibly annoying and yes a waste of my time
Ah da good ol' days, when whinin gotcha stuff! 😉
Seems to me dat sumhow sumwhere sumplace 'long da way... Whinin' would haff become ebidently counter perducktiff?
Could we PLEASE have grimswarm ships added? That way everyone can benefit from pirate hunting no matter what society they are in. <begs>
This would be great for ppl in gos or even if they added a certain amount of grimsswarm creatures per ship type would help
Thank you, Rovvi, for your support!
Always I love the OSA system, just wish they would push out some updates for it for quality of life for the folks that choose to sail
Still some old bugs lingering for years. I miss boating, but gems kinda killed it for me.
Empyrean ships are supposedly going to be accessible is osa
https://gswiki.play.net/Category:Sunfist_hated_enemies
Orcs. Maybe Minitaurs? (slippery decks? maybe not.) Der's yer list o' able bodied grimscums. Anythin else gonna sink da boat or be too dumb to git it unnerway to begin wit!
Minitaurs…?! Is that a dwarf body with a bull head?
You see a sloop. Sprawling across the back of the sloop it reads, "The Weak Tan Eggplant".
I really didn't like the name of my ship at first but the name is so silly that it grew on me.
Hmm... Cannot fire arrows with the ship. I'm not sure about what the ships's bow is for.
…
I feel the same way about the net-luncher. At no time has the net every given me lunch.
well we can tell who hasn’t been sinking ships
Also...da poop deck... AINT FER DAT!

The ironwood sloop drifts steadily toward the ramshackle port. Shouts are heard from the piers nearby directing the sloop to Frostmain Docks, Shoreline. Anyone know the room number for the entrance to Ornath/Sleeping Drake Harbor?
on https://gswiki.play.net/images/gswiki/5/5c/Southern_Ocean_-_Higher_Res.png it should be 512
hi. I've been reading the wiki to get myself familiarized a bit with OSA but I am wondering how the combat portion goes down. What happens when a enemy ship appears? Do we need to fight with canons? Seems easier to just board the enemy ship and duke it out. How would I do that?
generally people just avoid using the cannons
once the enemy ship appears, turn wheel at ship and after a little bit you'll "crash" into one another and be able to board
once you're on board, it's kinda like fighting small groups of bounty bandits
oh perfect. thats exactly what I want. Having to get canon balls below deck and running back to the cnon to load them seems tedious
make sure your sails are down before you turn at the ship, but once you've turned the wheel towards the enemy ship you can wait out the boarding process in the captains quarters if you want
once you get the message that the ships have come together, go to your gangplank and push gang, then you can go across to their ship
thanks for the tip. but what difference does waiting in the captains quarters make?
well... 😅 i'm a little absent minded and it can take a few minutes to complete the boarding process. by waiting in the captain's quarters, you ensure once you've collided that you are in a semi-safe room. if you are on deck, even before you push your gangplank, they can board your ship and attack you.
i say semi-safe, because even though they can't enter your captain's quarters, they can fire their cannons while you're docked if you wait around in there too long, and you'll potentially take shrapnel damage
How exciting. I can't wait to get my boat. I hope it's going to be as fun as all this is sounding right now
if you haven't been out before, i recommend catching a ride on someone else's ship so you can get a feel for it
also for new boats, especially if it's a sloop you'll need to upgrade the hulls and sails up ASAP. you take damage during the boarding process, and depending on the total health of your ship [the level of the hulls] you may not be able to ride out a boarding engagement without repairing your ship during the process. for instance, my fully upgraded sloop will lose about half its health during the boarding process with a brigantine
thanks for that additional tip. I'll be getting a brig as my first ship because I need to fit 2 ppl
You can fit 3 on a Sloop
I use my cannons just to give me something to do while we approach.
I also make my repairs as damage comes, so I don't have to worry about it - I'm a master boatswain, so I didn't fully upgrade my hull (I stopped one level before full upgrade). If I have a disk, I'll maybe store an extra plank or two in my disk for quick repairs.
i like to let the boatswain do my repairs as well 😁
omg I was looking at the wrong table. you're right! I guess that means I can get started right away!
Make sure you upgrade your hull, its pretty suicidal going out as a new sailor with the basic sloop hull, 1 upgrade is essential, and would be enough with an experienced crew of 2, but I'd recommend you get the 2nd unless you are really short of silvers.
I fully upgraded the hulls, sails, and got a bird. But now I'm seeing THIS!! What does it mean?!
heavens I'm going to be stuck here forever! I just typed DEPART and now I dont know how to get back to Krakens Fall. At least I'm in the same spot since launch. I was afraid I'd be carried out to sea and eaten by the Kraken!
If you haven''t moved you can turn wheel port to get back into the harbor
Look Ocean will show you whats in the water where you are and watch ocean will keep the ocean room you're in updated in your familiar tab
TURN WHEEL PORT yes that got me back! thanks!
for my crewmate, should I have a boatswain or navigator? I'm interested in the TURN WHEEL AT SHIP command to board enemies. But REPAIRS are also nice.
I'd have both in a crew of 2.
well dont I have to be captain?
not if you don't want to. Captain is a jack of all trades role, its main use is if you don't have specialists and don't want to be basic at everything bar your specialism.
well if I can still change the flag without the Captain role then I'll be Navigator and make my crewmate boatswain
you can train up the lot if you want, you only get the bonuses of whichever you have picked at the time though
what do I do once I feel ready? Is there a bounty office I can get assignments from?
There's a bounty board on the dock, and if you have the bird upgrade there's a bird in your crows nest that can pick up a bounty for you
yeah I got the bird
At the handler, GET BOARD to get assigned a task or TURN BOARD to turn it in. FYI culling pirates means you can kill any of the three pirate types (krolvin, dark pirates, ethereal pirates) and it counts, but for kill a pirate captain/sink a ship they want it to be only one of the three for it count. If it just says "pirate" they mean the dark pirates i.e., not krolvin or ethereal. Culling is preferable because it can take forever to spawn the specific pirate type you need for kill a captain/sink a ship.
Oh and one more thing, no matter which type of the pirates you fight, some of them will carry a claidhmore. Happens every once in a while. The ghost pirates will attack you immediately after they spawn so be on guard when you're fighting them because you probably don't want to be in offensive and have one come in and mstrike you with a claidhmore.
Navigator is my favorite
I highlighted this message, and it indicates to go to main deck of your ship and push the gang and go gang to board enemy ship
The sides of the battle-marred brigantine collide against your xxx! Several ropes with claw-shaped hooks on the end find purchase into the railing of your carrack. Battle cries sound off as those on the xxx prepare to board!
I RAZEd my first ship yesterday. very fun. thanks everyone
I started to panic after a while because the pirates wouldn't stop coming. I thought I had to find the captain and kill him to stop them from spawning or I was going to be there forever. I must've killed like 50. I thought it was a little excessive. But anyway, when I searched the treasure pile and got the boxes, I searched it one more time and it asked me if I wanted to "remove the salvage" or something like that. What does it mean? And what should I do?
Every pirate ship has a salvage crate when you finish that you can bring back to the dockmaster for some extra rep\rewards
awww. oh well. now I know. Is that what the ship storage is for? Should I upgrade my ship storage? I dont even know how to use it.
You had a boat and got rid of it? Hmm....I'm liking it so far. My private little hunting grounds without scripters
I still have one on one account. But I need another so different characters can go sailing 😄
Ahh I see. one on each account. makes sense. maybe I'll do that too once I sell my FIXSTAT potion and get 15M. I'm completely broke. Just need like 15k more bounty points
If you LISTEN while aboard the enemy ship, it will tell you how many more pirates you have left to kill
Sloops have 20 or a few less, brigs 40, which is all you'll see when sailing in a sloop. Brigs can take quite a while to deal with solo
by the way. Can I take low level alts on the boat with me? and if so, can they each get a bounty thing from the board?
You can take anyone you like up to the crew limit. Plenty of people MA OSA.
the boat I encountered was a brig
I should have said brig
oh ok. lets see how the little ones handle capped pirates
If you are in a group of 2, you'll get two pirates at a time, 1 big and 1 little. They'll target the character they spawned for, so the little character is pretty safe until the big one mstrikes ... (or the little character mstrikes) The captain is always big, so the little character needs to wait for it to be disabled before attacking or the captain may turn on them. The fights go quicker, but its less exp per ship for the big character due to no exp from the little pirates.
I run 2 crews on the OSA system. First crew is on a carrack, lowest just turned 28 and highest turned 62.
Second crew is capped but I've taken as low as lvl 25 with the capped crew and they did just fine staying in the group with the capped rather than running to a different room.
Hope that gives you perspective for knowing what range of characters and levels to take when planning a crew/team
I tend to get bigger ships for this reason because my friends tag along all the time
If anyone ever wants to tag along reach out to me and id be happy to show you the ropes of what's necessary to upgrade, what's not, and how to get things rolling etc
yea uh you have
So I was thinking and I thought of an idea.
If our ship gets left behind at another port, we're able to go to the handler and request our ship be brought to us.
Could we also get an option to send our ship to another port?
The use case being you take a voyage but know you're going to be using another method to return, would be nice to be able to arrive and send the ship back then and there.
yes you can send your ship. I sent mine from KF to IMT. takes 30 minutes to arrive
whats the command to use the bird?
get bird
oh cool! it flew away with a note! like a carrier pigeon. so...what happens next?
after a small wait a note pops up, you either get note to get a task, or turn note to turn it in
so coooooool this OSA thing just got even better
if you don't like the task, you can abandon it like the adv guild with 'osa task abandon'
can use vouchers to speed up the cooldown as well with 'osa task expedite'
careful, that thinking stuff is dangerous
I always check the weather before going out. But is it possible for the weather to change on you while you're at sea? If so, how can you tell? and what can you do?
Look ocean
It is possible for it to change, nothing to do about it really except sail other waters if you don't want to sail a storm
CONSIDER
Next ye trade dat stoopid parrot in fer an actutal pigeon!
A much smarter bird. 😉
Or a magpie. Then it can help attack the pirates too
The ship name registrar salutes you before saying, "Congratulations on your new ship name, Captain of The Distinguished Ebon Cabbage!"
Yes, this will do.
Hello enjoyers of the open sea! EO is working on expanding creature data available in game. The wiki is pretty sparse on OSA creatures. We would appreciate some logs from your adventures, along with their expected level (your level).
I have been working on a go2 for osa that works off the official uids of the ocean. I have a functioning database of all uids. Stable and working base code for routing from xxx to xxx as well as navigation code and I’ve constructed physical maps for all the individual seas except for the newest ones in the south. I will have those done by tomorrow and should have a functioning script ready for the public in the coming weeks. You can expect go2 style sea travel with mini map of local sea and a larger one of the entire Cauldron. Stay tuned for updates.
Toying with some graphics and whatnot… any suggestions?
looks good to me
The maps are the hardest part to alter so I wanna make sure they are 💯 before I release because I will not be able to (very easily) change them
Love the vibe but it’s a bit intense, IMO, and makes the labels a bit hard to read
That was my concern as well so I’m increasing font size and possibly color. Also reducing empty space on the map.
The idea is for each map I’ll keep the compass as a bullet point before the map name then above it will be the map and I haven’t decided on the map image quite yet. I like this one but it’s a little dark. It was suggested I got with a different background for all three different oceans
I’m open to any suggestions as well as requests for features. As it stands the window has a scale so you can change the size of the map. It will display room id at top of window and name of the map/sea.
The auto navigation portion will simply sail your ship with white flag from point a to point b. I’ll likely implement getting the ship underway and of course auto detection of your current location
And failsafes for environmental events
Request: "Here der be dragons!" 😉
You think if I use an image of the mayflower that the puritans will sue me for copyright infringement? 😂
Is there some reason that Mug doesn't work in some rooms on enemy ships? The rooms that are disallowed seem completely random.
I'll check and see what the lighting in the rooms next time I go out.
Looking good. Did you go with procedurally generating the maps? Personally would love to have a way to NOT display background image. Prefer simplistic squares without the noise of the imagery.
if not procedurally generated, perhaps SVG graphics with layers that could then have the map window have a selectable option for background on/off? reminds me to look into ensuring SVG support in normal ;map
I did png, I don’t know for sure but I wonder if you can turn off the background layer in png’s
I suppose I can go back and release non graphic versions.
It’s basically mimicking the map.lic code.
I’ve added scaling and map selection. Centering on the ship icon and stay above features as well as click to see room id (which I’ll roll into shift-click for auto-navigation)
I have the it almost polished for release. I’ll be working on sail2.lic to integrate as well. So it’s all one dump. I still need to figure out how to give a download that will place the files appropriately into map folders and the json database
I’d like to have an OSAmaps folder in lich and to pop the json into the Data folder
If I can’t have the script remove the background with a checkbox I’ll have to release both graphic and plain versions
i have to redo the maps but it wont be difficult. ive added layered gtk widgets for the map using a base grid and a background file. the end product looks like this...
so clean!
it requires a bare png and a background png same amount of data... twice as many files
I have released it… Nautical-charts and nautical-charts-update, Run the update first to download all files necessary then you can run charts
The final piece has been released, sail2 is live and will auto navigate you to anywhere from anywhere in ocean. Shift + click on nautical-charts will take you from your current location to that location.

This doesn't surprise me at all
We need to sail together like old times @signal ermine
I did some research on using Mug on pirate ships and the answer was the room conditions. You can only use Mug in rooms that are outside and extremely bright. Other rooms that are dark or indoors will block Mug attempts. Casting Light will only improve the lighting to average which isn't enough to use Mug. Also, every ship room is foggy for some reason.
Board em in the smoke
Okay, i'm having issues i havnt played for a long time and i cant figure out how where my ships are or how to see which ones i have
