#[Official] Contest - A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words

Does a half-elf with an Imperial culture qualify?
They do.
Should the piece be created by the character submitting it, or can it have different provenance? Should the brief history be included in the show description?
I'm not sure I understand your question about creation.
The brief history does not have to be part of the show.
For the history: Is a field going to be added to the contest form for the history. then? Currently it's just character name, base, and show. Is the history supposed to be about the creation of the piece, or of the event it depicts?
For the creation: is the artist meant to be the character attached to the submission, or could they be presenting a work that they acquired in some other way?
there isn't a way to submit an idea such that when people of a certain society look at it they see something different compared to everyone else, is there? like different LOOK messages based on things like there are taste messages?
Woah. Uhm.... Let me fix the form for the history.
Your character can present it as an acquisition.
Your character is not necessarily meant to be part of the piece.
No, I can't change the looks.
Form is Updated.
Thank you, Thandinator!
these are very fun little contests
Hi Thandiwe, I could still use a little clarification on the brief history part. Is that meant to be about how the art was created and/or acquired, or about the event it depicts, or both, or something else entirely? Thanks in advance!
Apologies, mostly I'm looking for historical information or tidbits on the art itself.
That way, when/if it is use, there can be discussions of "Oh yes, this is a lovely representation of xy z
Sorry, I’m being thick. So like descriptions of the artistic style (a la “what a fantastic use of Impressionism”) or about the event (a la “what a great way to commemorate Washington crossing the Delaware”)?
art history, or art about history haha
Oh, art about history
So a brief history about the event being depicted in the art — got it, and thank you for your patience, Thandiwe!
🙂
Just a gentle reminder that today is the last day for this contest.
Was the form supposed to generate a confirmation email? Just realized I never got one
Hmm, let me check
It does not
Can confirm I received your entry
I've only received 4 so far.
Thank you, I appreciate the confirmation!
Thandiwe, would you mind sharing whose entries you have received so far?
Cherlia
Fionola
Meliyara
Phanna Green```
Thank you very much!
while I did not end up making a submission, I will repeat how much I enjoy little contests/opportunities like this.
(You still have time! It's not due til end of day today!)
its a complex mix of covering up my lack of creativity in the medium and respect for the fact that Ordim is usually a joke/gimmick submission and I respect that it should be a bit more serious than that, plus a splattering of just stepping aside to let others participate and be seen. I submitted muffins, thats my speed 🙂
Final Count for this Contest: Cherlia Fionola Meliyara Phanna Green Enheduanna Missoni Perigourd Raelee
Having helped with the Solhaven Grand Art Exhibit for multiple years now.. I do wonder.. was that really a Raelee entry, or did the award-winning artist Owly submit something?
Owly can't redeem choker alters.
