Auchand says, "If I were going to do a system like this, I'd want 5-10 tasks that were dailies, with a rotating set of 3-4 available each day."

Auchand says, "So I like the way you guys are thinking, but if someone's able to take notes on ideas over the next couple of weeks, that'd be very helpful to me."```

You heard the man! Use this forum thread to suggest tasks for Icemule (and other towns. Examples that exists today are message running and iron smelting.

Idea (I’m sure this has flaws but can build on it / improve)

IF there’s a way for the taskmaster to detect what your character’s Artisan skills are….

Taskmanager Halline “Hey Falvicar. I see you know how to craft One Handed Edged Weapons. Can you please craft me a single falchion (or whatever) and bring it back to me? It must be made of <common material>.

As scripting would be frowned upon and wanted to be avoided so this isn’t “zombie scripted”, I would say just make it one weapon.

This would do the following: Person would have to get the material, get the oil, rent a workshop, and obviously use shop to craft the item.

Person completes the item. They give to Halline who will say “Thank you” and give whatever reward that will be fitting.

You could do the same thing with Fletching (x amount of arrows / bolts) or even cobbling.

Rewards? Whatever is fitting though I would suggest something that would at least cover the cost to create the item and obviously XP.

Main idea here is to attempt to intertwin artisan skill into creating a simple task and honestly I don't think anybody would want to zombie script just crating a single item (I could be wrong but I'd like to think I'm right on this).

I think I'd like to see in-town tasks that serve a storyline-esque purpose and focus on community building. So, something like: (1) helping fortify the town or build defenses out (I'm thinking a bit like the Caligos storyline), where the more people that contribute the closer it gets to being completed, and then the building would be permanent or could be used in battle; (2) helping work in a town-garden, stockpile food for the winter; (3) training the Wellington Home kids how to do something (e.g. a profession based task); (4) sit on a jury and decide whether the person is guilty or innocent (many vignettes) (roll based on influence to see how persuasive you are, points for convincing jurors to vote your way).

Ideas for Jobs

  1. Cut and collect wood for the town bonefire
Buy a woodsman axe from the backroom of the weaponshop (breakable like the pickaxe)
go to location provided and chop up x amount of wood. Delivery to be to one of the bins located either in town center or a bin at one of the four gates.
Turn in at the same person who gave mini-quest.

  2. Caravan deliveries comes in three different aspects.
Simular to escort quests, but with more spawns. (this is expected to be a group quest of 1-3)
Very Hard - Caravan from Icemule to Landing via the trail (3 party min)
Hard - Caravan from Icemule to Pinefar (2 party min)
Easy - Carvan from Icemule to the new OSA shipping areas. (solo)

  3. Caravan Pickups - the reverse of Deliveries. bring caravan back. Same difficulties as above

  4. Local deliveries (low level)
go to XXX gate, and ask for delivery
Carry heavy burden to xx location (example) Arm's shop, Temple, Music store..ect.) takes a few seconds to move room to room.
Repeat this task x number of times to complete

  5. Local Pickups. Like Deliveries (low level)
just reverse, go to gate to find what/where you have to get the items from to bring back (future caravan)
    yada yada..

  6. Work the ice!
buy a pick from backroom of weaponshop.
Have to knockdown 5-10 ice chunks off the upper walls

The Constable/Captain/etc needs more evidence to find who committed a crime and is offering a reward for bringing in evidence that leads to an arrest. Players are given a general area, building, or street in town where they need to look for this evidence. Looking in/on/behind/under objects in the rooms would allow the player to find a murder weapon, piece of torn clothing, etc the player then would bring to the Constable for their reward.

If locations were places like the various temples in SolHaven, the Warrens in RR, various museums in the towns, Shanty Town, etc, it would give players an excuse to go places they might not otherwise think to explore and discover things they might have never noticed even if they've spent years in that town.

My first instinct…dont worry about the scripting ease. People who want to script GS can script any task. Focus on tasks a majority will find fun

What about food boxes for the poor, we could be given a list of items that we get and then deliver to an orphanage or a poor person in shanty town or the begger in icemule ect. Good cheer warm feelings.

Yeah, it built a story. Everyone was able to contribute. It moved the world forward. That’s how I’d like to see bounties.

wonder if there's a way to tie Halline into adding improvements to a great house (only in Icemule) or if that's a bit much. such as officer of the house creates a task with her. Then she decides it will take X amount of this and Y amount of that etc etc etc to add that improvement / cosmetic etc and then just hands off tasks for gathering Z amount of whatever material or perhaps even make tools for it too. maybe an axe is needed for getting wood? an axe is given to Halline who then gives it to somebody else to do a logging task etc? this idea is a bit rough i gotta think more on it.

If there were to be a ranger specific bounty, I think it would be neat to help locate and find a specific animal companion.

Compounding off the companion idea: being tasked to find local pets or to eliminate pesky critters(non combat style). Using a system similar to the fox hunt at RW you could go to a section of town and search for the creature, finding clues that point in a direction you can follow. Before you go you'd have to visit a local food spot to get treats to convince the pet to follow you back to its owner, or go to the general store for a large sack to capture the critter.
