#Flag to stop NPCs from annoying me

Hi,

I would like to suggest the possibility of a FLAG being created to stop some of these older NPCs, who wander around towns whose sole purpose is to annoy me, from constantly harassing me while resting.

I'm speaking of NPCs such as that flower girl in the landing, this Ragged old blind man in Ta'Vaalor and countless others.

I'm not sure they really provide much usefulness in today's game and it is not an avenue to generate RP since sometimes they'll say the same thing to me within a few minutes timespan (and you can't really interact with them much).

That is all. Thank you for reading.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in Solhaven but there’s one NPC there that is insanely spammy too

Admit it. You hate the flower girl.

Ugh, the Sunfist recruiter in the Landing!

I see the old woman in Solhaven as just a sweet old lady in the early stages of dementia. Even if Traiva just gives her a "right, of course" and my Warrior would look at her and sigh.

Agreed that some of the NPCs are pretty spammy at times. I'm not sure if it's messages that everyone sees individually at the same time or what, but.. yeah.. having the Sunfist recruiter constantly after me is pretty annoying.

Mabel is great (this is all I have to contribute)

Every time the cop wanders into my room in Illy, he gets unrelenting ire.

My concern would be that it would be left on and players would miss specific information. I can look to see what options are possible, but it would be a very large project.

A new generation of players that don’t even know about societies…

I appreciate the response - I didn't know it would be a very large project. I would definitely not vote that this be worked on over anything else in the queue!

But, I would also love to believe that anyone legit discovers COL because of the hints of those NPCs...they are so vague. GOS/Voln? Hmm. I can't think of what other specific information NPCs are giving people. Flower girl and blessing petals?

Societies, events, an some of the death sting puzzle information are the big ones. But in order to do it, we have to edit every single NPC script in the game to understand a new setting. It's sort of like spells how it would be really impossible to rewrite it all at this point to not see messaging.

Oof. Ok - thank you for explaining. I withdraw my request.

Well, it's an okay request. Definitely worth asking.

I was ignorant of what was involved when i asked! I just assumed you could...open NPC_all script, hit CTRL +F and type in "annoy" and hit delete. (I'm not a coder)

It would be nice if we had something more modular like modern code. But we operate pretty anciently.

Death sting puzzles?? Sounds like I need to be paying attention more to NPCs

I only knew one person ever to do the death sting puzzle. Salve is much easier

I loved the quest as a player.

I just found the princess in Illy that sells death sting flasks. Bought 8, didn’t reduce my sting at all. Pretty face sold me water bottles

the potions are one dose per 250 sting, once you've already worked off the con penalty, and yes, one dose is exactly equivalent to one BOOST DEATHSTING
