I would love to have a kingdom clear. my biggest issue with clearing as kingdom is that you kind of need to upgrade food before you can do anything with a kingdom. the foraging post can't support development. that's a lot of time/resources spent on that before you could get a warchief. If the warchief is 200 krowns, then you'll need some krowns to self clear, 50 krowns to upgrade food, then 200 for chief, you're looking at over 250 krowns in most cases. with no treasure, you're not clearing until 801.
If there was a lore "your first food upgrade is free" instead of colonization maybe, that could help a kingdom become a clear. You could go krowns and subjects at the beginning to get chief out, then switch people to food with the free upgrade after and be okay. you'd be behind on military lore initially, but a kingdom will catch up quickly.
Also, getting a monastery to heal is pretty hard if you're clearing as resources will be lower. Can the witches heal?
You rush chief and not the upgraded food. You sustain food with a non upgraded building. But yeah the way Kingdoms sustain food in early is problematic. Working a non upgraded food building looks terrible.
Yeah witches heal 20% faster than monks so you dont need monstarery in early.
I think if you rush chief, you'll have struggles in the first winter. it would be nice to have the upgraded food lore, or maybe a buff to the foraging post like peasants don't consume food in summer on a foraging post. since they're +4 food but -1.5 consumption, they're only really +2.5 food units, which is why people usually leave as subjects until the food is upgraded
On a bad spawn, I agree first winter would be terrible. Yes maybe your idea would be nice and make the gameplay more consistant for the first year
