Clan of the Spider

Roles : Clear
Themes : Trap, Silk

Starting boni

  • Spider sense : A notification is received 10s before a neutral attacks a sector
  • Additional resource: Bones. For each kills, bones are earned. When the hero brings back the bones to the town hall, bones are trades
  • For the Swarm: When a sector has no more building slots available, and each production building is full, all specialized workers in the sector get a production bonus of 3% per amount of specialized worker in the sector.
    • Example: a Sector has a full upgraded Hunting cabin and a full Woodcutter lodge, a Silo and 2 Villagers. Then those 5 workers get 3*5 = 15% production bonus. However, if a Woodcutter leaves or the sector is upgraded for another building slot, the bonus is lost.
  • Idle Military units do not show on the enemies’ mini-map.

Hero

Cost 200 gold 5 iron.

Hero paralyzes units for 1s (for units worth 25 military experience or less) on hit, stun-locking them.

200 Fame

Killing a unit gives a permanent + 5% damage for the killer (max 25%).

500 Fame

Idle military generate +0.5 Resource of the available resource in the sector.

Relic

Once per year, the relic can spawn a Web in a sector, slowing enemies by 30%, and preventing charge abilities. Requires at least 5 Spider military units in the sector to weave the web. Duration: 10s.

Lore

  • Walk the web: Replaces Defensive Strategy.
    • Units walk 20% faster in owned sectors (not allied sectors) (villagers are affected too)
  • Energy conservation: Replaces Shiny Happy People
    • Idle military units do not consume food.
  • Silk reinforcements: replaces Carpentry Mastery.
    • Buildings cannot burn under no circumstances (0 gold, earthquake, old snake raid, old raven raid, losing the sector , ...)
  • Swarm: Replaces Recruitment
    • Increases population growth speed by 10% faster times the amount of villagers in the most populated owned sector (max 60%)
  • Silk Road : Replaces Trading caravan
    • Default Trading caravan boni
    • Trading with an allied faction grants them Silk Reinforcements

Ooooo i like the idea, i would have leaned into the brood mother side of spiders than silk spiders

if by brood mother you mean like lots of units, then i got another clan suggestion for it. The "For the swarm" already risk a bit too "eco-y" for a clear clan :p

However afaik spiders don’t really have a place in Nordic mythology?

It would be like, using a trap to catch an injured unit (neutral or enemy) and the warchief can collect the caught prey, and bring them to the spider nest
Maybe replaces the defensive tower, and the more you feed the nest, the more spiders you get,
Spiders can be used to clear, or defensively

hm that will make a lot of "arachnophobia" art design for the devs 😄 but yeah "growing" units could be really fun

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that.
Thinking it could be a way to completely revamp the hero idea and add a starting bonus. Something like :

  • Every 6 months, a hatchling is born at town hall.
    • Hatchling : Baby spider. Low stats (slightly weaker than a wolf). Stays in allied sectors. In 6 months it becomes a Young spider
    • Young spider. Medium stats (about Draugr level), can go in neutral sector. In 9 months it becomes an Adult spider
    • Adult spider. About bear stats (matches halloween theme). Can go in enemy sectors
  • Town hall has a toggle, Feed the hatchlings :
    • Animals killed grant no military experience. However, they feed spiders, reducing the time it takes to grow them. They still grant bone rewards, for resources
      And maybe the hero is not "much" stronger like 200 Krown worth, but simply heals spiders in sectors, whether in combat or not. Which gives her the broodmother theme. And loses the paralysis for this.
