Obtainable after defeating Signus.

Let's start with Laudanum. Of the debuffs it affects, the only ones the average player is most likely to run into are Armor Crunch, Bleeding, Broken Armor, Chilled, Cursed, Darkness, Slow,
Though really, I phrased that wrong: almost all of those are inflicted by 4 hazards in the dungeon (and one of them is genuinely dungeon spikes) and a small handful of abyss enemies, plus Ravager and Ice Queen. Sure, there are other sources outside of the Dungeon and Abyss, but in almost every scenario you can simply obliterate the threat before it can touch you. Furthermore, who cares if your 130-something defense gets reduced by 10 for 15 seconds? Is that worth an entire accessory slot? That is a beyond sorry state for this part of the accessory to be in.

Next, Heart of Darkness. I don't have much to say because what is there to say about this item

Finally, the part of the accessory that matters: Stress Pills. Obviously they give you 5 defense and 1.05x acceleration and max movement speed, and I mean that's rather negligible but they are nice, I won't deny that. But the main function of the accessory...

Adrenaline traditionally takes 30 seconds to fully charge and lasts for 5 seconds. Being generous and assuming you have all upgrades allows you to have up to 3.1x your normal dps. For example, let's say you have an average dps of 100. Adrenaline gives you five seconds of 310 dps, for a total of 1050 extra damage. Comparing this to our original dps we can see that without adrenaline we would have done 3500 damage, but with it we did 4550! That's an entire 30% multiplicative damage boost with a single mechanic.

Now, let's check with Stress Pills. They allow you to charge in only 25 seconds, so that means we have 1050 extra damage compared to 3000... which is a damage increase of... 35... percent... in other words it increases your damage by ~1.0385x. Yikes.

@proven perch You need to include a screenshot of your loadout and inventory! While your inventory is open, take a screenshot of your full game window and then send it in this Discord chat.

Taking a screenshot can be done on Windows by holding Alt and pressing the Print Screen (PrtScn) key, which will copy a screenshot of your current window to your clipboard which you can simply paste in chat with Ctrl+V.

Obviously adrenaline is not nearly so straightforward, and since you'll be getting it more frequently you can more often use it for higher highs with triple rippers and whatnot or whatever, so in reality it'll be more than just a 4% damage boost. Additionally, the damage reduction is applicable much more frequently... but seriously, who the hell is equipping this item with the intent of using it for damage reduction? It's not more than a passive valuable but minor bonus.

In summary, you gain immunity to and extra bonuses for debuffs that you won't run into frequently, whatever HoD even does, 5 defense, 5% max speed and acceleration, and something like 1.04x damage. All for a post Signus item that'll soon be competing with the likes of The Sponge and The Absorber! What a steal!

ok seriously though this thing should be like, mid hardmode or whatever. buffing it would be difficult because of how gimmicky it is, and i dont know where it would be best to put it, but surely not when it's almost completely useless, at least allow laudanum to make a notable impact,

Soooooooo okay

Adrenaline doesn't really scale the way you think it does

#

(Wow I realize this post is from half a month ago, w/e)

#

Adrenaline ends up being stronger just based on the actual damage of the weapon since it's multaplicative, so higher base damage weapons gain more, and lower gain less

#

It's also important to know this accessory is actually pretty optimal for quick kill setups

#

The current going 0:48 exos skill pre-shadowspec done by yours truely uses OSC

#

Laud is the only weird part about the item but that has more to do with the fact that post moonlord doesn't really apply those debuffs (and for good reason tbf)

#

Laud in general probably needs a rework

proven perch
#

if you have a weapon that hits once a second for 100 damage and a weapon that hits twice a second for 50 adren raises both of them to 300 damage per second

#

and i don't think it matters that this accessory is important for quick kill setups. I'm focused on how useful it is for average players

I don't think osc is that bad outside of it for it's current progression stage?

#

Because iirc you get it around the same time as omega blue and it + omega blue is a nuclear bomb

proven perch
#

ok but that's literally just stress pills which are available everywhere except preboss

#

we've established the only draw of his accessory is stress pills

#

so it either needs to be buffed (in other aspects), reworked, moved, or some combination of the three

with 50 enemy defense, you have

75 average damage
50 average damage

then with adrenaline you have

275 average damage
250 average damage

which for the 100 once a second is roughly a 3.67x multiplier and for the 50 twice a second is roughly 5x

assuming these numbers are right then i should probably go and reevaluate the benefit you actually get from stress pills tbh

#

though that's not relevant to what i want to say, just something i think is interesting; stress pills are fine, ocs is not

proven perch
#

at 50 defense it gets up to a 4.2% overall damage increase compared to no stress pills

#

at 0 it's 3.8%

clever meteor
#

Yeah

proven perch
#

100 is 4.7%

#

its a very slight curve

#

however the lower the base damage the faster it increases

#

50 damage skyrockets to a 6.3% increase at 50 defense

random vessel
#

how much is it in comparison to a ranger emblem? or something of the sort?

proven perch
#

i mean you can't really compare that to ocs but specifically the effect from stress pills, it depends on your damage% and crit chance

#

if you have, say, 80% damage and 70% crit then emblem is a 8.3% increase and also i lied the crit chance doesn't matter

it’s pretty difficult to tell how much it is compared to an emblem because adrenaline is inconsistent by nature
