#Buff fractured ark. It is worse than the night's edge

The fractured ark has around 270 dps normally, and 400 on the parry attacks. The night's edge has a consistent 350-360 dps, making it better overall and not requiring an upkeep of parries to work along with it.

#

On this same note, i personally think the entire ark lineup, as well as just, all melee weapons that got nerfed in one way or another, were nerfed too much, though i'd have to make a long-winded wall of text to properly demonstrate which weapons were over-nerfed and by how much should they get re-buffed

#

Not sure how necessary the loadout screenshot is, considering i'm comparing a weapon to it's vanilla counterpart, as opposed to it's general strength on it's tier. Any kind of damage bonus i'd get would transfer over to both weapons, the point is to demonstrate how one is arguably a superior choice. If it's really necessary, then please inform me, otherwise i don't feel like spending another 10 minutes setting up a world, finding the optimal loadout, and fighting the wall of flesh

Fractured Ark (flarithen's test)

wof: 1:13 (B) (82% ark, 18% projectile) - I missed like 2 parries :(
using tesla: 0:55 (S) (73% ark, 23% projectile, 4% tesla)

Overall Rating: S
I think my bad tesla-less time was due to the missed parries. The hungries weren't really a problem without the tesla.

B Tier on the tierlist due to the range and tesla potion being involved

#

A buff is not required, neither for literally any Ark line weapons

calm plover
#

just because one weapon looks worse than another weapon doesn't mean either of them are bad

#

also obligatory "dps testing is unreliable"

Ark of the Elements

Format: No Parry - Parry

Using snips whenever bc it's muscle memory, someone else can do no snip tests

Dragonfolly: 2:36 - 1:40
Guards: 2:37 - 1:58
Providence: 3:29 - 3:17 (Why is provi's hitbox so dogshit???? like I parry inside her and sometimes it just says No) (This can also probably be improved if provi wants to behave and cocoon timing)

(With parry from here)

Ceaselus Void: 2:17
Storm Weaver: 2:31 (I am VERY bad at weaver dashes so could be way better)
Signus: 1:46
Polterghast: 2:47 at 15.18%

I think Mid A is fair, it's very good if you're very good with it, but outside of that it's like fine but nothing crazy
Possible Low A if the snip aspect of it being basically required to spam factors in
Needs a pretty minor nerf

#

Ark of the Cosmos
changes: Nerfed damage from 1770 to 1700, but buffed parry damage multiplier from 1.2x to 1.4x. Increased the spin throw's range from 40.625 tiles to 47.5, but snapping the blade no longer gives parry charges. Ares now takes 80% damage from Ark of the Cosmos' spin throw instead of 70%, and Thanatos now takes 75% damage from Ark of the Cosmos' spin throw instead of 70%.

format: [no parry - snip parry - active parry]
exo: 5:42 - 4:47 - 4:22
scal (parry in bh for all): 4:57 - 4:10 - 4:10

verdict: snip is so incredibly strong because you get to start the next swing immediately instead of waiting for the spin to end. the issue with parry is just you need to stop yourself for a second to parry a projectile, which isn’t an issue for the rest of the line since you can just get up close to the threat so that’s why i think it’s weaker on scal. high A
Needs a nerf

#

Literally all of them need nerfs

#

Also comparing weapons to other weapons for balance is not a good idea

#

The balancing is based off intended killtimes

urban plinth
# little sable Literally all of them need nerfs

Ok that's genuinely weird to me
One of my friends went so far as to say They're some of the worst weapons in the game

You're really talking to the wrong person, as I think killtimes are not valid and I refuse to use weapons that aren't the absolute best in my experience

i don't necessarily disagree with your latter argument but DPS is a terrible metric to measure a weapon's strength

#

it naturally fluctuates a ton

#

bosses move around constantly and have a wide variety (theoretically) of different patterns and attacks

#

sometimes they even raise and lower defense or dr

#

if you're just attacking them while standing still and measuring a number that's constantly changing, you're not going to get anything close to a reliable answer

wintry geyser
#

Killtime is literally just dps across the whole fight

#

It is objectively more accurate than DPS

#

And includes things like damage over time which dps doesn't

calm plover
#

^

#

killtimes arent perfect but until someone has a better way to do it they're more than sufficient for assessing performance

cosmic fable
#

dpsgraphs that show how much damage was being dealt at every point in time across the entire fight

#

its like a killtime but more needlessly difficult to read

# calm plover i don't necessarily disagree with your latter argument but DPS is a terrible met...

Honestly im forced to agree... Used to think that dummy testing was good (And I still don't think it's that bad, because some weapons are just genuinely worse than others in flat damage)

...But Hyperius bullets sucked on the dummy and shredded Providence.
Yeah, killtimes are fine.

Or you could just... use the weapon on the boss. if it works for you it works. Like I said, I used The Dark Master on Calclone because it did the best reliable damage out of anything in my experience.

#

wait this is a good idea

#

I should add this into my mod

#

that would help tremendously with seeing some things in tester variance I think

elfin linden
#

Well CtH has the instability factor but a graph would be an improvement

upper cipher
#

Surely before the supposed "nerf", right?

#

Because in their current states, the ark weapons are far from needing a nerf, i personally consider them quite garbage

little sable
#

I feel like you're either using bad accessories, not be good at using the weapons, comparing them to other weapons which need a nerf even more, or all of them combined

urban plinth
#

Honestly having to almost die to make this weapon good isnt worth it

stray wedge
#

to quote the tests

This weapon is surely interesting. It requires skill to be properly used, if not, you're likely going to die.

upper cipher
#

Also, i don't know how you can be "not good at using the weapon", i use the parry off-cooldown

#

It's not like it's hard to aim with, either

#

IDK, this all feels incredibly dismissive as my experience with the post-nerf ark has not remotely matched the opinions stated by the testers. There's also other factors that go into this - like how lots of defensive accessories got gutted in BH and how you can't go about living more than 5 hits at a time in DMM

#

Also, there's a good likelyhood that the sunken sea update could fix most of my issues. I'll just have to see

kindred isle
#

Yeah that's just a death master issue not a fractured ark issue

#

Arks are all are very strong, death master just makes playing up close suck a lot more

#

It requires a lot more skill and patience to avoid dying

upper cipher
#

Like it's not even that it's naturally harder to use because most of it's damage is concentrated in it being a melee weapon, i felt this thing be actively worse than just using most other options i have at the stage of progression

#

And all I'm told is "NUH UH, YOU'RE ACTUALLY COMPARING IT TO A SSSSSSS TIER ULTRA WEAPON" and I'm like bruh is everything supposed to suck

@upper cipher You need to include your mod list! You can find this by typing /modlist in your in-game chat, or by pressing F8 twice in-game. Then, send your modlist in this Discord chat. You can type out all the mods you see there or you can send a screenshot of the list, as long as you make sure that the full list is visible in the screenshot.

Taking a screenshot can be done on Windows by holding Alt and pressing the Print Screen (PrtScn) key, which will copy a screenshot of your current window to your clipboard which you can simply paste in chat with Ctrl+V.

upper cipher
#

uh, yeah, sure

#

being hit with a "Report is INVALID" for a moment was crazy work

#

i did read that you're not supposed to use infernum, catalyst, wingslot, etc, when reporting a balance issue, but i'm pretty sure most of these would not be relevant for the discussion that was just had earlier

#

if those mods somehow alter the individual balancing of certain weapons, that'd be the only thing i'd consider saying my report is invalid for

elfin linden
#

Catalyst is the one that could but post-ML and this is pre-hm

upper cipher
#

yeah

#

unless it like, changes weapon balancing and doesn't tell you about it, it should be fine

I mean it does but not for ark afaik
