i actually think all of these are problems caused primarily from terraria outgrowing it's base

not core issues to terraria itself

within the limits of 1.0 terraria a lot of the "dated" design of terraria works significantly better

I kind of feel like while the elemental debuff resistances are lame it is better than having some enemies completely be immune them, since it means that the debuff can still in some way be used on them rather than just entirely not working

best example is Silenced debuff

Silenced is horrific in current terraria but it actually was quite good for the original design of the game

because it was made for a simpler game

with how complex modern terraria is, a lot of the design choices are archaic

not just a simpler game - a game with different views and goals

for people who dont understand. mana using weapons was a subset of weapons. swords could also use mana. there really wasnt a way to quickly regenerate it. mage wasnt a class. mana using weapons were essentially a subset of weapons ud use for large burst damage

In vanilla its actually a debuff that only applies to the player p sure, so yeah when applied to enemies it just works as any other damaging debuff does 90% of the time

It gives:

• A dodge
• +10% crit chance & +10% minion damage after a dodge
• causes all attacks allattacks inflict the following debuffs: Daybroken, Nightwither, Plague, Vermillion Flux, Crush Depth
• basically triple debuff damage
• also can deal like 200 damage with shade rain after being hit and can inflict confused on nearby enemies
• causes potions to last 2x as long and be preserved after death
