- wasps get +5 damage and +5 AP
- bees get big bees (same as vanilla)
Hive Pack should be upgraded into Swarm Pack which adds even more, stronger bees so we can be bees. This is good news.

thats because calamity was and still in its current state is a mod that focuses mostly on bosses and tries to streamline everything else to take less time, which hasnt been a priority for a while as the devs want to make it a content mod that has meaningful stuff outside of bosses, which added recipes to vanilla items are counterintuitive to

i mean i think the bigger issue is that

even without whips theyre still going to be fundamentally free damage
when summoner gets rebalanced the endgame vanilla whips will no longer be turbo strong
like possession is not going to be allowed to exist as it does in vanilla that shit is abhorrent
we'll also be nerfing most of the summons a lot tbf
and when theyre supposed to be half a class they will be strong
Possession will need some serious balancing for sure
Mixed summoner will always be strong because mixed summoner was always meant to be done, it's free damage. You can't meaningfully "fix" free damage
but yeah the issue with removing summon penalty is that summons are all balanced to be weapons on their own and viable as such
most whips in vanilla are like fine I think, just possession but it is justified for being endgame but for cal it will need readjustments
that's not even the problem 
even after the nerfs, whips would be outclassed by swapping to another class's weapon
Whips are only good if you're doing a pure-summoner build, if you have something even slightly incentivizing you to not do pure-summoner, then alternative weapons instantly become competitive
the summon penalty counterbalances that not that it works at 25% at all that needs to go back to 50%
removing summon penalty means congrats you have 2 weapons that are fully self-viable being used at the same time
with nothing to offset that
any mod that makes it so i can use death mod in expert instead of master mode out yet

I just wish I could so hybrid builds with my two free summon slots and my minions wont lose damage just for existing
