I did play through Calamity somewhat in late 2025 with Infernal Eclipse (as Ranger) but I got burnt out.
Left it at post-Plantera. I might return some day though.

cosmolight is far more versatile than it used to be to compensate, i always felt it was way too overpowered to be placed so early in the game

The only thing Opal Striker has is a 500 dmg attack per like, 3 seconds, which is worse than just using other weapons at that tier normally

That's part of the problem
You either need a weapon that inflicts debuffs (which not a whole lot of ones do at that stage) and have a keen enough eye to see which brain is afflicted by it, or you use Deathstare Rod. So you're basically forced to use specific weapons just to have a chance

In earlier parts of the fight, you can see the difference, but shortly after it either becomes impossible for anyone without an Eagle's eye to see the difference between the brains and eventually just flatout impossible

The 8 way illusion charge on Infernum also helps a lot with knowing where the real brain is at

A rework for the Devourer will be coming in the next update, it is a placeholder and will NOT include any resprite and will not be the final rework. Visuals, including the background and lasers will be totally changed, DoGβs behavior and movement have been rewired and every single attack is completely different.
