penumbra potion before its removal merely just made stealth regen faster, although it did use to have a boost during Solar Eclipes or wearing Umbraphile Armor
Shadow Potion, which still exists, has simpler effects including firing a basic projectile on hit, but originally it used to do different boosts and projectiles based on the Rogue weapon type you were holding. Like, as in different effects based on when you're using and holding a boomerang compared to a dagger.

or even with some specific storage units themselves
like, they may have glitched or bugged when placed
or your version of the mod needs a fresh, clean install
or, I dont' want to assume this one, your pc isn't able to keep up with the amount of info the mod stores

my expectaction is the speed getting cut from 1.5x to 1.25x

honestly I still like them since not having to use boots is pretty nice for build setups
(2.25x is their speed in vanilla, but due to calamity giving 1.5x base speed the baseline nerf they get to match vanilla is 2.25x to 1.5x)

With how slow the starting speed in vanilla is it almost makes sense
2.25x makes them identical to lightning at base
but they scale with move speed some so they're actually better than lightning

honestly my favorite part about them is that they're good for multiplayer, since it's much easier to get every player on the server a pair of roller skates than it is to get everyone lightning boots (for vanilla at least)
this would make it so you'd have to set up infrastructure to use them effectively on things other than rails
I mean, people already make arenas for bosses, that'd be the primary balancing issue
I don't think they'd bother to nerf smn just cause it makes you move fast in normal gameplay
