Well they don't act the same, more skill and reaction time is needed, more projectiles or varients of said attack could be introduced.

Harder ones could come in sooner.

It's more interesting than a stat boost but you can still have an idea of what to expect.

Introducing new attacks, as you said, isn't necessarily bad design. It does make the fight harder in a unique way. It's just not my cup of tea I suppose.

Anyways I'm excited to see the new changes, I have faith that this update will be good. 🔥

Just adding things like projectile variants and more projectiles seems a bit boring. Skill in difficult fights should be more than simply comprehending what's on the screen

There's also a facet of design where there's a sort of "minimum" and "maximum" value to a feature. If its impact is lowered to a certain point, it effectively becomes meaningless and its inclusion can become a hole in the design that bores or frustrates players. If pushed too far, it becomes overwhelming and completely defines whatever it's attached to.

You can't pare down every mechanic for a boss to the point that it becomes classic-mode accessible. Sometimes that'd ironically make the fight easier. Imagine if the eye of cthulu had telegraphed directionally locked dashes that moved at classic mode speeds. That's nothing. That could make the fight even easier than vanilla. How would you make those attacks interesting without their speed?

It's very important when designing bosses to make their harder variations still feel like their easier ones, and to not to create an air that there's a "true" version of the game and a "baby mode" or whatever, but to add genuine difficulty and keep all versions of the boss interesting at their respective skill levels, some sacrifices in design have to be made
