i have lots of insight on this!
As you probably already know, I was working on some VA for Wrath of the Machines, Lucille’s own exo mech rework.
The first problems she encountered were mainly just making the subtitles work and having the audio not break, but that’s code side stuff and not really my issue.
The voice acting itself was really challenging, given that I had to make my own FX layers for it on top of the voice being so deep that even my natural baritone had some issues. I had a director, but he was rather indecisive on the tone and we had some clashing visions.
The voice acting was included in the first public beta test for the mod, and funnily enough, also accidentally included in the Fargo’s Crossmod eternity mode mech fight, which was quickly corrected.
The lines took too long to read, the pace of the fight was scuffed, the audio implementation was not so great, and there were a bunch of one/two-take reads that really should’ve been revised.
If I were to do voice acting as Draedon in any official capacity again, I could probably do it better, especially with some better organization and with the fight being paced around the dialogue. However, I’m mainly just a spectre with a funny OBS setup that pops in every so often and does the bit.
