The Polterghast, on the other hand, is a botched experiment made by Xeroc. A prototype to see how he could stitch souls together, but it would break from containment and start roaming Terraria, tearing through everything it found in its way.

His peers didn't see his vision, they didn't understand why he wanted to do something when nothing was even coming out of that place for the last 800 years. He did it anyways, amassing power while leaving nothing behind, but this time the world did not take this lying down. They fought back, and still are. Ironically, Xeroc's own goal blinded him to reason.
