Yeah, but you're running the risk of her character arc being something she probably has already gone through, since it's so far in the future. Sure, trauma'd still be there, but she's not an out of control, incapable girlfailure.

The main reason for it being so far in the future is to have the substantial parts of her story be so far in the past, no one knows or remembers it. Not really anyway. Theres remnants of it all over the world, but the story behind it is forgotten except by the select few that are still around.
The exact number of years isnt really relevant to the story anyway. This is the story I wanted to write, and ill try to make it a good one
