yess
you can't
aw
start it in sscls so you cant be punished for offtopic
I would assume there were other aerospace alloys atp but yeah titanium makes sense for fighter jets
there's a ton
what if its not offtopic
then you cant be punished
something something alumin(i)um
Calamity lore expands that far? šØ
chat i have proof that i can be scary
Top ten lies
i dont believe you
everything goes back to gnosticism or irenaeus
fuck saint irenaeus btw
i hate him
it's all either titanium or aluminium based due to low density
titanium is less flexible but has the heat resistance advantage
in pbg's case due to the small size and little wing surface for heat dissipation from the engines I would assume it has to be titanium
riiight, makes sense
presumably all classified ofc
nop
oh wait really
plus titanium in terraria seems a lil stronger then normal titanium
f35 is made out of carbon-epoxy
yea
makes sense I guess titanium is pretty rare
huh, who woulda thunk it
print the jets
i think spacecraft are still using crazy shit
not used to seeing such durable nonmetals, damn
they are yes
since they need to exit the atmosphere
carbon wins by doing absolutely nothing
Well again
but i know my fighter jets really well :3
Given that Terraria titanium is like
Way stronger
It's still probably that
It's not clear carbon fiber exists in terraria
But diamonds do so draedon could presumably easily make it
ngl I was expecting it to be made of the plague nanomachines
fighter jet pilots when mysterious titanium chunks start orbiting their planes:
plague nanomachines are made of the alloy aswell
no the only self forming articulate grey goo in calamity is nanoblack
exo prisms are actually just carbon fibre crystals
no -- they're not real
they're bullshit zero point pseudo science
thats kinda needed when you break the laws of thermo dynamics
something about... abyss light being very small infinite energy? last I checked
vacuum energy is currently theorized at what like 10^51 J per cubic meter?
the plating is actually plagued bees
us military seen employing exo prisms in new weaponry
this isn't a marvel movie
exotic resonance and endlessly making energy
Draedon refused to comment
wrong reply
guh that makes entire stars exploding look tiny
meant to reply to this one
right
yes the numbers are fucking Hilarious
sea prisms are the ones in sunken sea not abyss
iirc supernovas are like 10^45
oh right
wha#
so it's like "yea there's 1 million supernovas of energy in every cubic meter"
wrong draedon log
insane
good lord
which sounds completely absurd and ridiculous but that's how the theoretical physics shakes out
why so many
1 foe unit is 10^44 joules
nature do be that fucky
we still need to move these to orbit the cursor so they're not useless
foe unit last i checked is used as standard for the energy released by a supernova
titanium got did dirty
ooooh
okay so I was right on the money
10^45 is a big one (X10) but still in the reasonable range
i have no context in why a million supernovea are in a cubic metre
damn, by one order of magnitude
this is some really intense Fermi estimating
should've been a botanist
this is actually how much energy i use when i think
thats why im so smart
you dont think, shut up
banned for hurting my feels
L
deltaw rune was yesterday
your brain does the equivalent of failing to jumpstart a car over and over
and that's why it takes so much
ouch
deltarune can be played today so stfu
its always delta rune
how rude we need to ban you immediately
would care but im too busy become a doctor rahhh
where is the alpha rune
when is deltaws rune
learune
true
my friend is also locked into the doctor grindset
sig-
ostracized from society
not by choice
oh
beta rune
oh god
asian parents?
im not actually going to be a doctor
somalian
congrats you've broken the cycle
I see
yea i did medicine
then it was boring
(still doing mb)
and im going to switch to aero
cause its way cooler in every way
like, aerospace?
yea
went from saving lives to taking them
I love the military industrial complex
š«
one of my colleagues got an apprenticeship offer with airbus but turned it down cus microsoft was better
fair enough
i should've applied for that one guidance system apprenticeship fr
i like airbus a lot
if i was going to work for a morally bad military contracter it would be BAE
Not Raytheon?
remember the meme from years ago "our missiles don't discriminate"
i dont really wanna work for an american company
ok fair
even though they have state of the art stuff
they are like the worst
maybe ill learn swedish and work for saab
y'all think draedon did any work on regenerating people's lost limbs?
can't believe we finally know what infected armor plating is made of
its made of updog
I'll take the gamble that this is the set-up for a 'deez'-esque joke, what is it made of?
1 sec
cool
It possibly includes Chlorophyte, as its ability to grow could be very useful to the Plague
Im oretty sure sun wukong oneshots xeroc easily
holy shit ralsei
hi new dev
cluefull
Hello ralsei undertale
32 dollars
hi
Stip, congrats on making it into the team
hai
Skill issue for not making it into the team
who ru
thats deltarune today

Can someone break the whole lore down for me in idiot terms?
gorthus in 2 seconds
oof thats quite a task hold on
- Everlasting Dragons from Dark Souls.
- Seath the Scaleless betrays them killing the most powerful (dragon?) and becomes god in the process.
- Other humans realize that they can become a powerful god if they kill dragons as well.
- āWell here I go killing againā
- Fastfoward a bit, people want Yharim to become a powerful god because itās his ~destiny-
- Yharim goes nuh uh, they throw him and Yharon into lava. Yharon hatches, Yharim kills them all.
- Yharim goes: āTime to genocide these new gods for revengeā
- āHere I go killing againā
- He recruits Draedon and Calamitas for more killing
- Calamitas causes mass calamity
- Draedon breaks the Geneva convention several times for good measure
- Yharim fires him because he corrupted a Bee
- Calamitas goes into edgy teen āIs this who I really am?ā phase and breaks off from Yharim Squad
- Yharim realizes the error of his ways, goes to mountain to study the blade
- Calamity Mod begins
Summary
yharim didnt go to the aerie to atone
to train
I shall edit thanks
So itās perfectly normal for a human to kill a godlike-spaceworm likes its an everyday task?
Damn
no
The thing that gives everything and anything consciousness?
hold up i got a fast one
i need consciousness
r/atheism moderator and dragon fanboy gets mad at all gods because he didn't like being told what to do and Literally The Most Biased Dragon In Existence Ever told him "all gods suck ass and should die"

sorry i needed to send this gif

auric dragons rule over Terraria, possessing multiple cool domains and the ability to rebirth after death thanks to Yharon (the dragons were not inherently good or bad remember that) -> Fovos (moon lord) invades and manages to gravely injure Zeratros and likely kill a bunch of dragons permanently -> Fovos is sealed to the moon, but the damage has been done -> Xeroc, or whatever their name was at the time, ascends to godhood using Zeratros' auric soul, whether this was mutually agreed or not is up to debate, but I personally headcanon that it was a last ditch effort to save the domain of Primordial Light, even if Zeratros' life is lost -> words of the ascension spread, everyone wants to become a god -> grey period where dragons are hunted down and killed so that others can ascend, the Draconic Era ends -> Deific Era for many centuries, where gods rule over their own kingdoms and such, probably a bit similar to medieval times I think -> Yharon, the last auric dragon, gets killed and an egg possessing its auric soul(?) is retrieved. A small group of likely not so benelovent gods try to make Yharim ascend with it and rule over them as a god-king -> yharim refuses, and he alongside the egg gets thrown to lava -> Yharon hatches suddenly, saving Yharim's life -> Crusade starts as Yharon tells Yharim about the eeeeevils of the gods, and the two manage to form a super echo chamber where they both end up becoming super racists against gods. The two also attune so Yharim can touch auric and do cool stuff and also makes him stronger probably -> Draedon joins the crusade as Yharim makes a deal with him where he provides resources for Draedon in exchange for cool weapons -> Permafrost joins the crusade and works as a strategist and advisor for Yharim -> DoG joins the crusade to eat god essence -> Azafure explodes and Calamitas gets added to Yharmy -> Cal explodes Ilmeris -> Cal and Perma leave Yharim -> Braelor and Statis try to kill Yharim -> Yharim leaves to the aerie -> calam
draedon also got kicked out for messing with bees
yharim also went back to draedon after fighting braelor and statis to get exo upgrades to his armour
i have no idea if this timeline is accurate but thats all i rember!!
(message got too large to send)
((im not paying))
also the crusade halved the world population iirc so it wasnt a small war
also lasted a century
Yharim lore update
Auric dragon of gay
š„š„š„
If DoG is an entity who may have a leader from the distortion, could that leader be Noxus?
yeah he commands DoG
it's all but confirmed
I can easily site alot of things that very heavily imply it but I cant drop an in-game quote that says 'I Yharim have confirmed that the Devourer Of Gods is commanded by Noxus, ruler of the Distortion'
I thought a while ago it was confirmed that roar of the jungle dragon isnāt canon was that changed or was it always canon?
It's still pretty canon
But Yharon isn't like, actually singing at you
he cant speak human languages due to dragon mouth
i was gonna say something else but i forgot what it was
Oh right
I think it's pretty cool that Noxus is never name-dropped in the mod itself, it makes his prescence through the Distortion entities feel alot more omnious & pervasive
it wasn't canon before, but it was recently made explicitly canon
stained brutal calamity is still completely non canon tho
It fits with the lore, unlike scals theme nothing contradicts it beyond yharon speaking but yharon and yharim can psychically talk so may just be that idk
Makes me happy to know that itās canon, idrc abi ur scalās themes canonicity tho cuz I can hardly hear the lyrics anyway
watch a lyrics video
they're actually so fucking good
Some of the lyrics characterise the terrarian and some of it refer to yharim as her master so like lol no
Oh Terrarian Characterization, Terrarian Characterization, all I long for in this world
there are lyrics in scal's theme?
Yes
many
to obliterate all headcanons into ash, & put an end to the 'Terrarian is YOU!'
Make it yourself
so many lyrics
Impossible
The terrarian IS INFACT YOU
the terrarian is kris deltarune
YOU ARE KRIS DELTARUNE
lit
calamity is an analogy for the bible the terrarian is Jesus Christ
Not again
did u beat deltarune

Everything minus the astral entities are terrarians
not confirmed but come on who else is there
(also iirc writers have been talking bout noxus..)
After reading cynosure and the line āyou stand at the brink of infinityā makes me word we how much more powerful these final entities really are
They are not THAT strong, Yharim is using a literary technique called HYPERBOLE
Also basically glazing himself because you now stand at his strength implying he is at infinity (he is not)
Xeroc, who is the strongest foe who we will fight if they get added and who is stated to be the absolute strongest being there could be by devs iirc is like high mountain level i think??
and likely because Yharon has a skewed concept of time. remember, Yharon has infinite time because of his domain.
we wont even kill xeroc though
i guess the fight has a similar thing as ND of like testing you?
i swear someone said xeroc is high mountain
that's pretty accurate i think
What do you know that we donāt?
i can't tell you unless you pay $20
patreon mayhaps
Too much money on my jobless income
with that money buy deltarune AND undertale
and you still have spare money!
isn't Deltarune 25?
Really?
ye
That's for me to decide, patreonerd.
deltarune chapter 5 is currently only in the form of a casette tape at the bottom of the ocean, but its already done
I stole it from max and put it back in the ocean
In a different spot
š
evil being
I am a nazgƻl
Does Yharim like wasps

The whole Exo Mechs fight is meant to be stress testing the player and not Draedon testing his creations to see how they fare right?
pretty sure it is testing the machines? but im only like 70% confident on that
I'm pretty sure it's like both of those
Draedon did mention something along the lines of studying the player, but also wants to test the exos
Two birds one stone
Thanks
does that imply a harder variant possibly happening
Nah
He could make a harder version probably but he has no interest anymore when he could be watching you beat the shit out of Yharim instead
Why make better murder machine when better murder flesh right there to stalk
Exactly
I doubt he'd be interested in something more powerful than literal war machines powered by infinite energy cores, he could do something like fuse all in a giant mecha or sum idk but it's more interesting studying the player as they punch Yharim into a red pulp
You mean XB-ā Hekate?
ZC-899 Yhaweh
Yeah, Draedon doesn't even really seem surprised or giving any semblance of a fuck when you beat the Exo Mechs, I'm one for saying he's hiding something
Eh i dont think draedon is hiding stuff personally
Or at least working on something experimental
Draedons always experimenting
Draedon finishes the exos while gameplay is happening iirc
Draedon just hasnt had enough time for something like miracle mechs imo
The Exos are the best thing he can build
Creature detected
He doesn't secretly have Exo Mechs 2 or whatever hiding in his closet
Seriously what's with people's obssession with Draedon having something even more fucked in store?
We like Draedon
And want him to do more
Bro he has more than enough
We want more
There are like, 5 Bosses which are Draedon fuckery
If draedon had something more then exos i dont think draedon would make exos
Fair enough
because he's Robot Guy and therefore automatically the best character and people want to see more of him

Mechanical bosses
Cal clone
Astrum deus
Exo mechs
Is there another one im missing?
Aureus not deus
Aureus
Pbg
I caught that error
And PBG, yeah
Oh yeah plaguebringer
Sadge
But yea I fw Draedon heavy, he's cool
I mean supposedly he does get to tinkering immediately after the Exo Mechs are defeated to use the data he gathered from you
So if he had the time, he could make something else
Time to make it 6
He's a tech bro. They can never have enough. They must always have more.
ā

If we were in a 2000s era cartoon, Draedon would take your DNA to make the Exo Terrarian boss, duh
Draedon can already clone people
When we having brimstone mechs
Playing calamity since 2022 dont even know 1% of the lore
ok
okay
Ultimate chad šæ
went through the lore doc for the first time since the "new" doc dropped
the thing that stood out to me the most was the change in brimstone elly's lore (no i am not obsessed with brimstone elemental)
replace the elementals with burly men
thats ok too
that would be funny
hot men eating beans
what was brimmy old lore again it was so mid i genuinely forgot
she was chilling being worshipped by the people in the crags until scal showed up and beat the shit out of her
that's about as shitty as i was expecting
she was chillin being worshiped as a god which was enough to give her somewhat god-like powers
i think thats pretty cool
No i think the reason was smth like they rejected yharim or smth
Or that seeing the crags simply reminded yharim of the lava he was thrown into so he just destroyed it
A very bs reason nevertheless
Yharim suffers severe ptsd
Nah i think heās just an asshole
Actually I know the word now, man is an asshole like you said
And heās petty
at least in old lore
Quite hilarious to think a godtyrant is petty
he's very much ends justify the means in the context of both
Whar
May this actually be grammar for once?
@untold oracle
(Please excuse the ping)
@cloud ibex
@robust osprey you're such a cool guy!
@trail zealot you suck
What XD?
LMAO
holy hell
Sorry
stoopid gun
Rude gun

One time we had a discussion in the other server abt whatās grammar and whatās spelling
Why is Yharim lowkey the coolest character in the mod even when hes evilbo
Having a sick af dragon friend tends to do that
villians can be cool
iām sobbing
Villains are often the coolest character no?
mhm
Calamity just has cool characters
and Scal is just there
I showed yharim's slightly summarized lore
they love him so much they hate all gods now
like shes all right, but shes not that cool to me

to my friends
explode this creature
Tell them about the horrors
the writers cooked with the Yharim propaganda writing
True
which horrors
which one out of all of them
Skeletron prime
People really dgaf if a character is evil in the war criminal way
thats why warhammer40k is huge
You see they are called based
By many
If you kill one person youre evil and fucked up but if you kill millions youre a role model
reminds me of people who like Homelander, but they like him for the wrong reasons
Can't wait till homelander dies pathetically in season 5
From what ive seen homelander is just
Annoying as hell
Bro does everything for shock factor
He's a good character, most of his scenes are entertaining to watch, for me at least
but like, he's pathetic and yeah annoying if he was real
DoG
literally dog
Wish we had more DoG dialogue ngl,
like he says more when he dies so that i can really savor his death
i need more aura to make it more of a dilemma
dilemma? bro killed millions of innocent ppl

he is probably the reason of your most hated boss!!
yeah Dreadon made it, but would dreadon still have made it if he wasnt working for Yharim and got the resources for it?
and yeah Yharbo freed it so hes partially responsible anyways
why did Dreadon start making the nanobots at all
Yharim wanting mechs lead draedon to wanting to control organic life
To be able to control the living
all right, I'll chalk it up to dual responsibility for my most hated boss
Dreadon and Yharim, when i catch you two...

did t

yeah but that amiguity makes it interesting
Idk how much ambiguity can be added to john genocide
it allows the player to infer from what they've seen that he's bad
LITERALLY ALL TIME FAVOURITE VIDEOGAME CHARACTER
ie the corpse golem
ok maybe I just love her theme too
must be a low bar
deltarune:
I never played that
Though in general games in that style donāt appeal to me
I rarely played story driven games
Now Iām gonna unleash all the hate upon myself
For saying stuff like deltarune doesnāt interest me
I mean
i still regard my main man james sunderland as the best written character smh
you can play and dont give a shit about the story
and pretty much just
skip it
theres a whole YURI scene that you can just
skip

deltarune is a funny game the way it gives you interactions even if you skip things the game wants you to see
i think its at least worth a shot, the first 2 chapters are free
||you can wait like 5 minutes reading susie and noelle dialogue in chapter 4||
deltaune spoilers ofc

to take too long.
i dont get it
have u not played the new chapters yet š
youre taking too long garbo
(to play them, i mean)
im going thru chapter 4
ohhh okay yeah makes sense
i had to replay chapter 3 ||for the knight||
yep
||also fuck the egg for chapter 3 im not doing that again||
me when i lie
||Im trying to beat the knight on my first playthrough since I found the shadow mantle on my own thankfully, wooo boy this fight seems hard||
this makes me wonder what Draedon thinks of the designation 'Exo Mechs', & if he has a more formal name for the model line
i mean exo mechs seems like a pretty good desgination to me since its literally just a shortening of Exo (as in exotic resonance) machines
i think draedon would be fine with that one
its not stupid unlike the name of the normal mechs !
tomorrow
Yeah but given the model names I guess I assumed he would have a more wordy & overcomplicated name like 'ER-Models 44-88'
Isn't it like uhh
john exo mechs
ww
X is Exo idk what S is
sussy
stands for sight
||its the hardest fight in the game||
I think the number is the model number

Iām guessing they wanted Areilate to themselves

Right, itās world building not politics
Politics is included in worldbuilding but I deliberately am not sharing that part here
Fair.
It's nice I got to share this because it covers some important topics to understand how Chrysadia is organized in space and some design choices I went with for the Clouded Acropolis
Hell yeah
well i guess i'll change the script for my video im working on lmao
o
Since it's not ingame
disregard
Why doesn't the plague appear until after you kill Golem? That couldn't have been when Yharim released the plaguebringer goliath because:
-
The lab starts out already destroyed on worldgen
-
Draedon's last interaction with Yharim was a year before the start of the game
Currently, it's completely abitrary
Which yes, sucks
But we're planning on changing it so you can release the Plague anytime
Maybe Golem has some kinda receiver inside him that the lhizahl stole from Draedon and killing him activates it.
Maybe not āanytimeā, I doubt we could handle a Plauge preboss.
Counterpoint, machocists.
You probably could. You can enter the lizahrd temple pre boss, and even with it having post plantera enemies and post plantera traps, it is still not the most dangerous biome even in prehardmode.
Golem will still murder you tho
you can't summon golem
You can't fight golem pre plantera
Or pre two mech
two mech?
There's an alternate summon item that's post two mech
if it's because of anvil that's post 1 mech
Ah right
Yeah that makes more sense. Still tho, a Plauge will murder us
Not if the materials are post mech 2
Alternatively, if you don't want to fight plantera or a mech, you can also fight golem post moon lord or post yharon
really the only material is like
Specifically 2 mech souls and adamantite/titanium
and cryonic
Actually, it's crafted with tablet fragments and essence of sunlight at a hardmode anvil
Oh yeah
i mean those are really the only post 2 mech materials
Tablet fragments are pre boss, essence of sunlight is early hardmode, and the hardmode anvil is post one mech
i mean these
Ah right
What would happen if released the Plauge by accident
how do you do that by accident
By that logic all the enemy buffs/things that make the game harder should be able to be activated preboss
Sheer stupidity
Not really? Everything is about balance
- accidentally summon golem
- accidentally kill golem
Not too little, not too much
Ok so as far as I can tell, the only reason you can't fight golem in prehardmode is because of the essence of sunlight requirement, and even that depends on whether cinderplates can be shimmered
Yeah, this is how it works, I just somehow managed to miss it
i just learned about the lore is yharim even the villain?
Yes
vVery
he had a good reason to hate the gods though
him killing millions of people
Indeed he did. But he isn't exactly better than them.
mmm
if you're thinking yharim isn't a villain, you are quite literally falling for the yharim propaganda
the video may have scammed me
Yharim is right, the gods did do some awful things. But wrong does not justify wrong.
there are both good gods and evil gods
yharim wanted them all dead
all gods killed a dragon tho
and not all dragons were good
This does not justify a genocide
we don't know that though, all we know is that they 'protected Terraria'
All gods, whether they had good reasons or not, objectively did participate in a genocide, and that objectively is an evil thing
so yharim had the right reasons but accomplished his goal in a bad way?
No
^
not necessarily
Not even close
the gods were not fully organized in the slightest, this wasnt some grand plan
He would like you to believe that
This is always a fun discussion to watch whenever it happens
Remember: all the lore items are written BY yharim, the politician who is really good at convincing people of things
Good gods exist, but I'm of the belief that, since all gods participated in a genocide, a god should be assumed to be evil unless they can prove that they are good.
That being said, Yharim did not give any god a chance to prove that they are good.
sure, the wiping out of an entire group of beings is bad, but this does not justify a genocide against the gods either
we will avenge the genocide of this kind by genociding THAT kind
ell oh ell ecks dee
Yharim also forced a child soldier to wipe out an entire civilization of mortals

THAT is true
And he gave infinite resources and a blank check to a robot who's pretty open about not caring for morals, and then didn't provide any oversight to make sure that that robot wasn't doing evil things
In all, it's really up to the player to decide if he's a reliable narrator or not i guess
you can say the same for hiring DoG
Yellow man bad
I actually consider hiring dog to be one of his milder crimes. It's still a bad thing, but not nearly as bad as the rest of the things he was already doing
Oh yeah he also imprisoned so many people in the dungeon and then didn't do anything about their souls for so long that polterghast was formed
See, here's the thing, they didn't. It wasn't organized. They participated in murder in most cases, but not genocide
i think yharim targetting basically the entire planet is pretty bad idk
and ghosted the cult when they told him to clean up his own messš
especially with the hundreds of millions dead from direct casualties
and thats only direct
It doesn't have to be organized to be a genocide. all auric dragons except Yharim were killed.
Also, it was pretty organized, given that the dragon cult had planned for Yharim to absorb Yharon's soul and become the king of the gods
dragon cult is the one in the dungeon
yea but was the fuckers who wanted yharim to ascend all gods
No. That wasn't the dragon cult
And it was not at all organized. You're misunderstanding what happened
i was boutta say, didn't the gods want yharim to be the god king?
hey so like, do the gods have access to the Aerie?
presumably some of them did at one point
Given that Yharon's egg was hidden in the Aerie, probably. They had to retrieve it somehow.
right^
given they had access to yharon's egg

guys there were evil dragons
guys the gods weren't a organized society working together and most were independent from eachother thus the fact some of them were bad dosent justify killing all of them
guys yharim blew up a entire civilization killing thousands of innocents and probably causing the extinction of several native species using his Child Soldier Which He Manipulated just because there were 2 (benevolent and loved by their people) gods there
guys .
shut up nerd
guys he had a War Crime Division
guys he literally had a Division of his Army dedicated to Burning Sites of Worship (with People Inside)
guys you're all really bad at explaining why yharim is bad
Not to mention his "good intention" has explicitly been genocide from the very start
Also hello Gorthus
nah yharim is a good guy compared to the gods
they killed zeratros in a treacherous act of betrayal (very painful too)
have you read the lore items? it clearly is stated there!
š
yeah the war criminal said gods are fucking evil I'll trust him
genocide man bad 𤯠š±
is there anything in game talking about the war crim division?
skeletron prime whisper
wow how did i skip over that
Oh yeah @pliant ruin I shared this earlier
What did you all think? Anything that caught your eye?
Not even just Zeratos the genocide of the gods was explicitly a response to the mass murder, eradication, and yes, genocide of the Dragons
Every god is complicit in the genocide of the dragon race and directly contributed to it in the search of power
š„
And as such are guilty of a crime dedicated solely for strengthening oneself
Yes genocide man bad
But also genocide man isnāt genociding meaninglessly
And regardless of how āgoodā or āevilā the gods were they are still guilty of genocide themselves
That being said Yharim is most certainly not a good guy and committed many many war crimes
and what evidence is there had that says all gods were in for the power
it is meaningless, it accomplishes nothing
"revenge" is inherently flawed, especially when it wont bring back the auric dragons
all that resulted from it was the deaths of hundreds of millions of innocents
and a regime change
congrats you are now ruled over by someone who cares about you probably even less than the regime that you had before even if your regime was turbo evil
correct!
like cool, most of the gods are gone, but now what
most of the gods are gone, cool, but what the fuck are you gonna do about that power vacuum
Sit on a throne and mope about how sad you are lmao
People REALLY gloss over the fact that the dragons oppressed the humans and didn't allow them to live on the surface, and that a bunch of them were evil
where is that said tho\
Like, we know of 5 dragons, and 3 of them are evil, if I remember correctly
You have to do some investigating, it isn't outright stated
Which ones, out of curiosity
Given it required the murder and consumption of the soul of another sapient, divine being itād be difficult to rationalise. While it is a hasty generalisation to assume all gods did it for the power alone and not another more benevolent goal, itās still inherently a desire for power that drove the ascension
we know what, the 2 main ones, the one prov absorbed, and then like some sunken sea one? (I dont follow that much)
Dragons didn't stop humans from living on the surface, it's just that people were reasonably intimidated by the Dragons
i dont think the dragons oppressed the humans, its actually my personal theory that the golden age of dragons was humanity's first contact with the dragons, but im not as knowledgable in this as others so i could be misinterpreting something
Huh, Iāve never heard of this.
i mean no
what if the dragon told you to since it was gonna die permanently soon anyway
Where was this information found? Iād be interested in checking it out
a drive for power isnt a reason for everything
For all we know that could have happened with Zeratos and Xeroc
flame - evil
life - ?
rebirth - ?, is now evil
death - chill maybe?
light - might be good? the sun was an oven during his reign however
gravity - ?????
gluttony - ?
frost - ???
What other benefit of absorbing a soul and denying its cycle of rebirth would there be?
That would inherently be the driving force to ascend would it not
what cycle of rebirth they hit a point where they werent coming back anyways
If they werenāt looking for power what would be their motive for absorbing a soul at all
Flame - Evil
Life - Chill
Death - Chill
Rebirth - Evil (formerly good)
Light - Good
Storm - Pretty good
Gravity - ???
Gluttony - Evil
Frost - ??
oh my god i forgot vetrasyl š
Though keep in mind the Dragons referred to ingame are not an accurate representation of the whole
Most Auric Dragons were chill
Hmm, I clearly need to brush up on my lore
Chill being a range going from "oh, hello human!" to "leave me the fuck alone"
sometimes you kill a dragon because its being generally threatening/causing damage/being actively malevolent and while you're there the soul is just a bonus
Out of curiosity, with the change in leadership, will the lore be changing all that much?
no
Nope
no
Well thatās a relief for my notes.
fab didnt do much of anything with the lore
Firstly, we had already established we don't want to retcon anything for the sake of readers
Secondly, Fabsol really wasn't very involved with the lore
I find Calamityās world building to be amazing, so a DnD campaign for it is on the backburner.
Duly noted, thank ya kindly~
like you also have to ask the question of "if you already killed a dragon, why not absorb the soul"
I'm glad to hear! :D
No problem :)
As they're pointing out, the genocide of the Auric Dragons is a really complicated matter
Interesting. Iāll certainly have to look more in-depth into the dragon lore, I havenāt personally found much info on it yet
Yes, people incidentally partook in a genocide - but that genocide is made up of several isolated cases, which have varying levels of guilt and varying moral outlooks involved
two words
its not the flat 2 sides yharim wants you to think it is
World Soul
yeah it split
it feels less like a genocide and more like poaching
individual people killing them off one by one
Yeah
To my knowledge, the most organized efforts to kill Dragons would be akin to local hunter guilds
Unreliable narration after all
Which are hardly systematic genocide material
the word genocide implies humans have some level of control over auric dragons and really they dont
Obviously the guy who perpetrated the war is going to try and justify his reasoning
Tbf the state of the world very much had a bearing on Auric Dragons and it was established majorly by humans
Dragons simply didn't have a future
thats more akin to habitat loss no?
And that's because no matter how many virtuous people were there to protect them, there was the overbearing threat of eventually finding someone out to kill them
So it was either living under the constant threat of dying, or wasting away in a hideout
There were definitely Dragons who embraced their death, be it to ensure it was a peaceful departure, be it to get the choice of who would inherit their power, or be it due to simply acknowledging the age of Dragons was over
It's pretty sad, really
so its kinda like when a species gets outcompeted and then eventually dies off
it was a pretty slow and drawn out death
Pretty much
Keep in mind there's a lot of reasons to want power
could they have been looking for power to protect others?
Some people also didn't really want power, but had to embrace it for one reason or another
Or did they want it just to rule over them?
Also
Ascension is not inherently cold blood murder
(It is still murder but it's not inherently violent)
yeah
I don't know like any of the actual ascension situations
But I do know that a dragon could absolutely choose to let someone do it
for whatever reason they might
Ascension is not a black and white moral issue
the morality of ascension is, much like everything with humanity, fucktangular at best
Would you like to
i don't know
it would be cool to know but then I have the burden of now I know and can't speculate
then again I never come here anyway
That's pretty relatable
Yep
It ranged from "the dragon literally asked me to do it but I still feel really guilty"
To "I will kill this bitch and use its power to make the world as I please"
You people can probably guess which is which with all the shit we've revealed here over time
I should probably mention that nothing is canon until it is in the game, so don't take all this as canon but as potential/upcoming canon!
what terraria youtubers see
lmao take this all as canon. CANON!!
silva chill af no way she did murdere ed
(There isn't really anything about how Silva was so that's kind of a hunch, but yes she did murder a Dragon yet she's not evil)
CANON? Where!
OVER THERE!! points at fandom
what are the lore implications of giant trees at sulphurous sea
mutations?
