backreading, but this is pretty similar to how one of my OC's SCal and Exos fights go
they're filled to the brim with so much energy from the exo prisms they absorbed that they are literally on the verge of exploding and taking a portion of the continent down with them
they only survive because they manage to burn a bunch of energy fighting (and nearly killing) SCal alongside the fact that the Nucleogenesis is helping to convert the foreign energy from exo prisms into mana that is safer for their body
they still nearly don't make it out alive, but once SCal loses the will to fight they pass out from exhaustion due to having spent so long essentially fighting off an explosion big enough to raze several cities in an instant
Permafrost detected the immense amount of mana that was being released by SCal and the Terrarian and approached their location as quickly as he could (without just teleporting in and getting eviscerated by an on-going battle) and manages to assist the Nucleogenesis with a spell he and the Terrarian had devised specifically for something like this, finally outpacing the energy production of the exo prisms
by the time they wake up, their body has finally acclimated to the exo prisms' presence and they can control the energy properly, although they are still pretty terrible at using it in battle since it's very different to mana

I've brought this game up a bunch of times before, but it makes me think of Rain World, where for every little bit of enemy behavior and interaction logic between yourself, the creatures around you, and the environment around them that makes up a large part of its gameplay, there's also small details that don't affect much of anything and just exist for worldbuilding
