Draedon's waste dumping and the Azafurian fumes were surprisingly contained only the the sulphurous sea and sulphuric depths, if we didn't know about all the animals that helped keep the lower 3 layers clean from the fumes. I don't know if we have an explanation for the waste not going further than layer 1

But then there’s goblin army using medieval gear and azafure being the most advanced part of the world for the most part till draedon happened and advanced tech a few centuries and wulfrum bots which are also advanced despite their pathetic casings and power output
So I think the gaps in advancement are just very extreme where some places are medieval or just industrial then other places more advanced then irl tech
