So let’s say you got a soulless homunculus that’s still in the developmental stage. It won’t necessarily turn into a copy of the original body the soul came from but its growth would be heavily influenced by it.

On the flip side:
If you take a newborn soul and put it into a fully developed body, the soul will start to take on aspects from the body.

And then you get something in between when transplanting a developed soul into a developed body

I don't think that makes much sense for ordinary biology. Instead, I think that certain beings, primarily gods, dragons, and essence borne monsters, form souls via a different mechanism, directly from essence or auric/mana power, and then channel the elements of the world into a body fitting the soul.

It's kind of like some fan interpretations of Undertale, where monsters form bodies made of dust, projected from their souls and fitting their views of themselves, whereas humans have inflexible meat bodies independent of their souls
