I got two theories
- The gods wanted someone who could revive other gods like Yharon did with the dragons, so they picked Yharim since he was attuned to Yharon and could perform a "perfect ascension".
One issue i have with this theory is that Yharim literally never met Yharon until the lava incident and I don't like having attunement be something gained from birth.
