Boss progression, and just the progression in general, going from weaker than slimes to being stronger than Gods, is my favorite part of the game. And the LORE elevates that feeling, you really feel like your progression matters, and that its not just a bunch of numbers getting bigger, but that you are a real person actually growing stronger and affecting the world around you.
