if you don't make fishing ponds or any builds using liquids, it's less of an issue since you can just wait to plug the hole once you've got better gear and you won't be inconvenienced much at all

still annoying for moving liquids out of the way when mining upwards though

if it's lava, you can't just go through it, so you have to either change the direction you dig constantly or relog every time you encounter lava and dig a channel for it to flow into
