i thought of this because i imagine a lot of accessories, or at least some of their effects, to really just be magic spells (because handwarmers don't protect your entire body from the cold, even if that's an extreme example) that are either cast by the user or exist in the form of runic arrays engraved into items
and there is a limit to accessory 'slots' because you can only maintain so many magic spells at once, no matter your proficiency
the two accessory slot boosting items also just so happen to be given to you from the wof and moon lord fights, which i imagine to be among the most special of all fights in the game, so yeah
