i'm slowly adding ideas to a universal notes doc that i can hopefully apply to any fic i write, but i'm not sure how i want to handle ram dashes
my first thought was it being a type of magic that the terrarian loosely bases on the giant clam's teleportation ability (which would be why the first ram dash we get is post-giant clam in hardmode)

GSD is also basically a super ram dash since it's enormous and grants full invulnerability rather than just immunity against contact damage, but i have literally zero clue as to how to go about explaining it

I imagine that the ram dash turns us into a semi incorporeal form of magic that lets us semi ohase through enemies and bosses but having a human amount of magic go through you hurts

my main issue with my original idea was that it wouldn't really make sense for it to not work on projectiles, which is still my biggest issue with anything i can come up with
because it's not like it's just magic that hurts you while ramming, because physical projectiles still do as well
so then i started thinking about just altering how rams would work compared to gameplay, and i think i'm just going to settle with this:
the asgardian aegis is the perfected form of this type of magic, making your fully intangible to all forms of physical attacks but with a wind up
the rams that come before AA would be imperfect forms of it because the terrarian was still developing the magic, and as a result each spell doesn't last as long before dissipating
with a ram you can go through magic, but if the magic disrupts the ram spell, you immediately become tangible again
and magic that specifically deals damage by attacking your soul or mind completely bypasses it
but if the magic disrupts the ram spell, you immediately become tangible again
expanding on that bit, as the terrarian hones the spell more, it becomes harder to disrupt the spell
still possible, but more raw power/intricate spells are required
