would yharim be pleased that we kill some gods for him?
Him seeing is goal be even closer to realized must satisfy him, even if it’s still not enough in his eyes
i wanna know whos left other than Xeroc
Only Silva and xeroc, really
Silva is unkillable is the thing
Unless you like, destroy all life
but did Silva take an auric soul?
Yeah, she did
ah ok
Otherwise she wouldn’t be a god
Dragon of Life
the lore doc has everything
oh ok i see
Then there would be Dragon of Death
i havent read it for a while
which is the soul God of Sacrifice used
Which is super mega impossible
Draedon with prep time :
/kill @e{type=Xeroc}
Tbf even the exo mechs couldn’t destroy all life
And the plague simply couldn’t spread EVERYWHERE
yeah they were destroyed by a random mortal that woke up and decided to become all powerful without becoming a god
130*
boomer old man
how powerful would the terrarian be with an auric soul?
it depends really
so like
respawn arent canon rahhhh

take Yharons. now you can canonically respawn (or rebirth ig)
we build different
thats the neat part
you dont
I kind of want to do a playthrough where I try to be as canon compliant as possible, for example, no boss refights outside of the few canon ones, etc. etc.
God of Birth

btw do we canonically kill yharon? or will he rebirth
Technically I could refight yharon IF I wait 10 years
@earnest flare i summon you
he'll rebirth
so he just cant die unless he chooses not to rebirth?
hf;ljdsfhasjdfh;akdfa
uh
DONT DO THIS
i dont think he can choose
he cant choose
He rebirths automatically id imagine
then after we kill him why doesnt he just like, come back?
there's canon boss refights?
Is it THAT bad?
yes
Scal, and yharon technically
I feel like EoC probably is canon too
King slime also
theres a couple others
just uhh...
slime god too, he flees
buy the boss bag from the operator in order to not refight some bosses if you want to be canon accurate
Alch npc lame and removes this entire facet from the challenge
operator isnt canon lol
yharim calls aquatic scourge the last sane creature in the sulphuric sea, implying that it is also the last
other mods arent canon
I meant AS in terms of one’s where I’d have to use natural spawns, not refights
Do you think if EoC was given more time itll grow stronger
except for the music mod
¯_(ツ)_/¯
if aquatic scourge is the last of his kind then you only get to fight him once
guys infernum is just calamity if the bosses had more prep time
So, what bosses could I refight?
yes i am saying fight because you cant lose and then fight him again
hardcore after all
For Yharon you gotta wait at least 100 in-game years for it to be cannon
a decade

hardcore master infernum would be insane
You can’t do infernum on master
why would people say infernum is harder than base calamity
Because…overall it is?
eye (there are multiple, according to guide i think), king slime, slime god, planterea (multiple bulbs), yharon, scal
Yeah idk master death is alot harder, Infernum is hard but enjoyable
Master Skeletron Prime is Bullshit
TRUE
I can't even get hallowed
i agree
Master death is harder for mostly vanilla bosses
The shimmer in question:
every pre-hm boss until slime god
brimmy??? (idk why but it was a dev statement)
golem
cultist apparently???
folly
guardians before fighting providence
polterghast?
scal
lmao thats all i had to say
god i didnt even have to bring up how you literally cant fight the exos
or how HORRIBLE yharon is
You
Huh??
Elementals never truly die unless the planet is destroyed
say, you know of an "auric quantum cooling cell"?
yeah that requires endothermic energy
which isnt canon
Oh my god
how
💀
and endothermic energy being non-canon is only half of why yharon SUCKS
Well in that case one of the two final bosses is impossible so in my eyes this challenge is impossible
it is going to be changed
because nightmare fuel ALSO isnt canon!!!
ah
oh yeah on a side note
So uh, damn
the codebreaker upgrade before the cooling cell is also impossible
did you know like almost all of the post moon lord and post DoG ranger weapons are donor items?
uelibloom isnt canon
Mannn
say what you want but Tyranny End is canon

guys we need more vanilla calamity whips
(or almost all the useful ones, at least)
I just use catalyst for whips
are you starting to understand why i greatly regret attempting the challenge?
Yeah this is dogshit
It’s a cute idea on paper but nvm it’s pain
i didnt know catalyst had whips till i beat scal lol (i was also using the goozma mod and ND mod)
Did you not notice things like snapthorn and spinal tap being listed as “material”?
no lol. this was my first summoner playthrough in general so I didt notice that
oh yeah did i mention that ASE not being canon just straight up robs you of all post-dog armor?
ASE?
you're left using omega blue for damage, bloodflare for general, or solar for tanking
ascendant spirit essence
ascended spirt essence
🐌
ye that
no it is canon. It's just going to be found somewhere else
prob through the distortion
that "somewhere else" is not accessible in game dipshit
Still, in its current mechanical state, it isn’t canon
its the stuff DoG sends to the distortion
ok, then it is canon but the method of obtaining it isn't
why send it there tho
i mean yeah
Yeah, so it would be banned for this challenge
it would be obtainable canonically, but not through the way you get it in game
... not neccesarily
Because that’s just how it’s “digestive system” works, godly essence just gets sent else where
to feed the secret evil final boss that isn't in the game yet
like nightmare fuel and endothermic energy, it might not be in the same state it currently is when the distortion releases
also why cant we just follow the DoG to the distortion when he opens a portal there
its actually the guide
there are theories that its Noxus
Hes the culprit behind it all
because that would require adding the distortion and that isn't done yet
to this
Is killing noxus justified
would be sick af
i mean
those theories are 100% correct, yes.
hes just chilling
Hes a dark god so why not lol
Noxus is, from everything we know, evil
Although we don’t know very much
he is gathering all the god essence in the entire world through dog...
okay name one evil thing he did
It is a creature that poses a threat to all life, so yes.
he cant be up to any good
old lore chief

you should read the new lore document because most stuff is changed
i will later ig
the worst part is that noxus isnt even a god 😭
tf is he then
nobody knows
not a god
noxus is stronger than a god, a god is a specific thing in calamity lore
Noxus is just some boogeyman ig we don’t know Jack shit
just a blob of darkness
It might just be a very strong distortion creature
noxus could be just some random guy who took up home in the distortion
Noxus is actually Xeroc from the future and become evil
he's a creature from another dimension/universe/thing
Noxus is the friends we made along the way
how do you spell noxus backwards though
in calamity, a god is something that absorbed a dragon's soul with a special ritual
(a human almost always)
I wish this mod had more events then acid rain, acid rain, and acid rain
other than scal and yharim, is the terrarian one of the most powerful mortals? (after scals defeat)
no way
noxus kills you with ligma, I should have known
yes
boss rush lel
who the hell is steve jobs
probably the most powerful besides yharim. Although, gods are "mortal" in a sense. This also only works if you make combat skill count as power.
i mean we best everyone we fight
Gods among men
i mean it depends on if noxus is mortal or not (there is no confirmation on if noxus is mortal)
Primordial wyrm has more destructive power then yharim iirc, but due to not being as intelligent, is realistically weaker then yharim
Or Men among Gods
honestly theres a lot of things you can just assume about noxus but then just get stumped when you realize that theres no confirmation
so far Yharim, Noxus and Xeroc are the only ones we havent bested yet. however he have bested the challenge Xeroc gave us
no we havent
Is boss rush even canon yet
xeroc challenged us to get stronger to hear his proposal of marriage
I imagine it will be after yharim is added
we have not done that
we beat the challenge, didnt get the proposal becuase we dont have the right power level yet. even tho 20 million power in rise of kingdoms should be good
no actually most people have high standards for marriage why would xeroc propose after one test
Xeroc probably doesn’t just care about getting a big strong partner, we need to be kind and funny too smh
my theroy is that the proposal is we get strong enough and Xeroc tells us how to obtain an auric soul
ok but like
yharon is dead at the moment
he comes back through rebirth
it takes him 10 years to rebirth
He would never do that. There is only one left, and yharon is not coming back for another 10 years at least
It would actually be so funny if marrying Xeroc was the ending, even if it makes zero sense
Gfb
sounds like something that ccr would do
TRUE!
alter the ending dialogue to make it 20x more awkward
the real answer is probably that he will tell us about noxus and that he needs us to go kill noxus in the distortion while he protects the regular world
Fandom wiki shit is so funny
i cried at the part where fanny rejected noxus' own proposal
actually the whole "get stronger" thing is to make sure that you're not just someone who attaches themself to him for power
because gold diggers suck ive heard
idk i dont do relationships
And then Fanny, that scumbag objected to the Weddingwhen me and xeroc got married
Fanny killed my grandma
I need to play CCR whenever the gen update drops
Or did it already release
My head cannon is that Yharim real name is Jake and decided to change name after meeting Yharon
fandom wiki sucks
its kinda funny
nah its the definition of insanity of seeing people posting it over and over
seeing weird stuff from the fandom wiki was funny like
the first few times
now its just annoying
like omg yharim worm !!! 😂 😂 😂 lolllolol!!!!!
idk i think this is funny
it relies entirely on lulz so random humor
which 99% of the time
sucks
theres some actually funny stuff but thats the stuff people constantly repost because everything is trying to hard to be funny
like old duke being removed content
Chat, what's the auric soul of this
Auric soul of blades
a small bit from every auric soul, with the exception of zeratros', as that was a perfect ascension and no soul was left behind (im waffling i have no clue if that's how that could work)
"Press alt-f4 once Calamitas is at 5% hp"
Is this requirements to spare bosses or something
One of the few funny fandom moments was the time someone made a page titled “cringe” whose only contents were a picture of markiplier pointing at the camera and the word “you”
Why is the player so strong?

Basically everything about the player is up to you to think about
they're a blank slate for you to insert whatever you want into
I see
Good for them I think

Maybe not that last part but
Batman
What is Yharim's sword called?
angry yellow man's angry yellow sword
My-grandma-gifted-it-to-me-when-i-was-10 sword
some angry dudes cool as fuck and extremely large and inconvinient for anyone else to swing big ass yellow fuck off sword which will violently kill you to death which he was gifted lol also dude has a dead dragon now lol-sword
thats the full name trust
personally i imagine yharim's sword to be around the same size as holy collider is when the player wields it
Wel try to put Terrarian sprite near it for scale
To see if it's big
should i scale it twice before comparing them

holy shit its big
oh god
someone made a calamity mod lore video
i hope it's good but my gut tells me it's gonna either be old lore or media literacy devil
teeduck?
yes
right off the bat i don't like how the video is designed
too many jokes going on
he's calling yharim the main character and portraying xeroc exclusively as a villain
there's a comment pinned that goes over a few misconceptions but i think that comment has a misonception itself
i was just about to mention that
man he was always fucked up.... the worm didnt do nothin...
Remember: This isn't ingame
I did mention a few times before but I don't like how this perception of Yharim comes exclusively from this chat, because this means that the view people have of Yharim was massively influenced by what Developers said
That is true to be fair
But also like over half of the people who think yharim isn't that bad insist on him being not that bad even when being very clearly shown He Is Very Bad
I think not knowing is fine the problem is when you actively ignore people telling you otherwise
Eh, I think he's done a damn fucking good job at hiding his crimes
Like, yeah, we always mention the part he torched civillians
But what he says is
"I had troops specialized in burning places of worship"
That's not what i mean tho
I mean like
Alot of the time
When active lore members try explaining to other ppl that
yes yharim is a terrible person, he isn't morally gray, he was always bad
people just go "WELL YOU SEE I THINK HE'S NOT THAT BAD" (proceeds to ignore everything we just told them)
Because he "regrets his actions"
Which, btw I rewrote Gruesome Eminence's tooltip
Specifically so Cal says
"Yeah he was kinda always an asshole"
Yharim's point isn't that he was a noble crusader or anything anyways
It's that Gods were bad enough that, to him, everything was justified
Yharim isn't the hero, and he knows it. But everyone else is way worse so it's fine
That's how I view it, at least
At least that's the question I want to make to people
Do you agree with Yharim, not that he was right, but that Gods really were that bad?
Was he a necessary evil?
I don't think there is anyone I would put as necessary evil other than draedon
how is draedon necessary evil
Draedon has emotions..probably
But he has complete control over them
That alone makes him the most dangerous character
And that does make him, dangerous
He’s entirely self interested
i'm a necessary evil
Btw
Am I the only one that thinks exo mechs are actually the iterations of draedon
How does it make sense that it would give you draedon's heart when you kill them
Yeah
It wouldn't really clash with the lore that much either
We know he can split his consciousness
I love the fact that Yharim crossed the line in slavery, when he committed genocide
Yharim should die the way he was born
i like to go with the theory that, as opposed to most other boss weapon drops lore wise being things the player crafts out of the boss' corpse monster hunter style, Draedon quite literally gives you the weapon drops and such directly as a reward for being a good test subject
by getting tossed back into lava
Yharim was born the moment the gods threw him away
and now im gonna finish their job

in which case maybe he's like "here, have a copy of my primary circulatory organ, modified for organic use"
It's pretty clear that we invented most of the craftable weapons and items
Draedon, unprompted: You have my heart.
The terrarian: huh
Draedon: I mean literally. Here you go.
I imagine it goes for most of the dropped boss items too tbh
Like i think its safe to say that canonically the terrarian probably makes the desert scourge weapons out of the desert scourge's corpse and all that
I mean
It wouldn't make sense for bosses to carry a whole armory on their bag for literally nothing
ye lol
some boss drops r literally just body parts too
like leviathan's teeth
or thanatos spine
There are obviously some exceptions though (like Atlantis)
Probably Anahita's Arpeggio too
It's pretty scary when you look at it this way
Terrarian probably has never seen yharim's image
Yet they proceed to make iterations of his armor which is by far the most efficient armor made by auric
Genius
Terrarian designing knowledge is the embodiment of "it was revealed to me in a dream"
Idk about the Auric armor you create being by far the most efficient tbh
Especially since it's not like there's a good way to tell how good Yharim's armor is, including before it got exo upgrades
Its more updated and modernized i guess
I mean
Tho we have a better one that is created?
The only reason yharim would have super high defense is because he is the final boss
And it definitely will
That does depend on the player character's lore, to some extent
The main factor that makes so much difference is probably just Auric Rejection
Actually
Thinking about it
It might actually be even better knowing the effects of this armor
But auric armor is not even the best armor we get
Ok what is the devourer of gods?
a serpent from another dimension called the distortion
So he’s a snake and not a worm
he serves a mysterious entity, who is not named in-game but is known as noxus here
Truly a shame, but also isn’t because snakes are cool
not a snake or worm
just serpent
distortion serpents like DoG or storm weaver are weird and competely unrelated to snakes
another dimension
And by chance does it have to do with giratina?
it's probably a reference, yeah
They're called serpents but they're not literal serpents
It’d be hilarious if Yharim was added and he just shows up riding on the back of giratina
yharim isnt really connected to the distortion
moreso scared of noxus
He's being from another world
I don't think anything of those applies to him
But he's more of a snake than worm
what does the astral biome and its enemies have anything to do with the lore?
the astral infection is what happens when a dead star begins to bloat from mana
astrum deus exists to eat dead stars and birth new ones
deus didn't eat this one in time, got infected and was forced to throw the meteor that contained the astral at terraria
it's also incredibly recent
its one of the few things that has almost no direct ties with yharim and the crusade and etc
as it happens literally during the playthrough
astral is more of a "side quests" i think
unlike 99% of things in the world that were already there before the terrarian shows up
this also means draedon designed aureus really fucking recently
I don't think he did very recently
Which means possible exo tech aureus
aureus was only sent to the astral recently
its not really connected to yharim (astrum deus not being a god or descent from dragon)
the aureus models could've existed for decades
didn't he specifically design aureus to have more armor against astral
lemme read draetalk to make sure but i dont think so
oh nvm its literally the first line lmao
and still managed to get infected due to it not being a "sapient mind"
I think he reinforced aureus
but he didn't specifically made it for the astral
From what i understood aureus was just a model of surveillance machine he has had and he made some modifications to resist the infection to one of them and sent then there
no he says it was intended to nullify its effects
and then said model got infected
ye so like
i think the base model itself isnt for astral specifically
but he modified this one to be
yep thats exactly what he says
if exo mechs took around ~600 years to build all, is aureus younger or older?
did they take 600 years
They didn't
they were made to match yharim's strength
They needed 600 years of research to Be Built, they didn't take 600 years to build
they couldnt have been planned for that long
Different things
maybe I included the part where he researches yharims army and the exo prisms
Like the modern cruiser doesn't take thousands of years to build, it took thousands of years to develop to a point where you can build the modern cruiser
or must misread it
"The zenith of my craft. The culmination of all I have ever accomplished. The result of over six hundred sixty years of research and scientific advancement."
Pretty sure it's not about the exos being developed for that long
whats a small in calamity that greatly alters the lore if it didn't exist?
but rather just Draedon calling them his perfect creations due to all his knowledge and research
Draedon himself is like 600 years old or something
Just like in real life
old man
he's almost old enough to be an american president
guys, did anything exists before 0 in calamity lore calendar? (idk what is it called)
the calendar is based on the founding of azafure
the calendar we know of is the azafure calendar, so it starts with azafure's founding
in terms of power level, is moon lord and devourer of gods not far off or dog high diffs?
im talking about the current moon lord, i know the draconic era moon lord is a lot stronger than now
exactly like that
boss progression is, more or less, a good way to indicate strength of characters
so for instance, Old Duke vs. DoG is much closer than you'd expect
so providence is not far off from moon lord?
@cosmic zenith
I finally got around to finalizing the lore document, hopefully this fixed any issues that you had with the previous version. Lmk what you think when you're done reading, and take your time if you need to.
Alright, I'll give it a read!
Note that what makes Auric Dragons special is their Auric souls, not "auric blood"
There's no mention of auric blood, just Dragonblood
The Lore deepens
how much of a dragon is a dragon
take their wings
now you have Wyrms
what makes a dragon, a dragon

Auric blood doesn't mean literal blood. It means lineage
i wish i can talk to Xeroc rn
we could be yapping about dragons all night long
hes the fanboy after all
Oh, I see
Well, lineage doesn't always result in Auric Dragons (for example, offshoots are non-Auric descendants), so I feel like the situation could be clarified
Right, but blood often refers to true lineage rather than just decent. For example, in one of the descriptions (for The Old Duke I think), Yharim says something along the lines of "It lacks true auric blood, I would know"
does anyone have a speculation on how Terminus originally works?
I can still change it though if you'd like
Fair enough
I just thought it could benefit from being clearer
Alright, I'll make note of that
- You misspelled "Eidolon"
- Braelor is not a member of the Onyx Kinsmen
- Calamitas is a moniker, not her name
That's it, pretty sure
Wait seriously? She doesn't have a name?
She does, but it's not known
That's what I meant
What kind of parents would name their child "Calamitas"
Unfortunately such parents do exist
The idea that calamitas, cataclysm, and catasrophe are their actual names is hilarious but hell no
elon would do it
around
Everyone knows that her real name is Carly calamity
Calamitas, Catastrophe, and Cataclysm, the children of renowned Azafure citizens Disaster and Devastation
Did anyone else cry when calamitas said "it's time to go calamity"? Truly one of the moments
you know what's an actual canon moment that happens in-game?
"You have defeated me, the Supreme Witch Calamitas, current final boss of Calamity mod. Here is your reward:"
Essentially yeah, it's called "taming" but yes
What did you want like
It to be called “anarchy”?
“Chaos”
“A tiny bit of random destruction”
Anyone have any good lore for some of the different npcs? I wanna focus on really giving them nice houses in my next playthrough
well, you can make an azafure-styled house for tax collector
since it's implied he's from there
maybe guide too?
There is no new lore for vanilla NPCs as of yet other than what can be infered
since he calls tax collector "someone he cares about"
Painter hates mushrooms he’s a mushroom racist!!
So put him in the mushroom biome…..
Its safe to assume dryad worshiped and mourns the loss of silva
Could be interesting to do a dryad base in the sulph sea under that pretense
Cyborg and or steampunker researching a Draedon lab mayhaps
It's a head cannon that the guide is a lot more than just a human. And that's why he knows how to craft anything, including miracle matter which not even Draedon was able to make... But he knows for some reason
I’ll probably just have to go off of what biomes that they like. I’ll try to make different inferences about each character based on game mechanics n stuff
nurse has a meth lab
Dryads
for
Jane calamity
i would imagine Azafure has its own language and her name was written in that method
wait was azafure brimstone land or am i confusing it
yes azafure was brimstone land
how long do people think it would have taken draedon to construct dog's armour? (resprite, not the in-game armour)
i'm thinking of writing a draedon log for the process of making the armour and would like some opinions on the time frame
at least 2
maybe even 3, i reckon
this is honestly an interesting question
the primary thing is we have no clue how long it took for him to gather that much Cosmolite
nor how long it took for him to figure out how to use it
About 3 fabsol hours
so if the gods were people who absorbed dragons auric souls then what is moonlord
On a serious note, probably not that long
He’d spend more time researching materials
He has so many machines that armor construction wouldn’t be a hassle
the moon lord is the one who killed off most of the dragons, making them, as a whole, weak enough to be completely eradicated by mortals trying to ascend
my thoughts as well
the actual building wouldn't take long, unless those gems are somehow really hard to use/make
to elaborate on kidwhat: yeah he was the thing that kicked dragon ass. they didnt actually manage to kill him, but they severely weakened him and suppressed him inside the moon. hence why you the terrarian can later finish him off.
yeah but what being like ive seen lore variations where he is an original dark god who came to earth during their war with neutral and light gods
I should also add, however, that the dragons hit him pretty hard as well. that's why he's only a torso; the dragons tore off his lower half and shoved him in the moon
All that damage and they still couldn’t finish him off
prelude, dropped by lunatic cultist:
In ages past, now named the Draconic Era, the majestic Dragons protected Terraria from all threats.
Their famed might was put to the ultimate test by an aberrant behemoth from beyond the stars.
Fighting with all their strength, the Dragons could wound and weaken it… but not destroy it.
Lacking options, they tore the monster down to a shadow of its former self; sealing it away.
What is left of it now lies imprisoned in the Moon, as far away as the Dragons could banish it.
Much of dragonkind was lost as casualties in that struggle, and they never recovered.
ah
that used to be the case, I believe. With Calamity, there was a huge lore overhaul that completely changed almost every aspect of the lore mainly because although it was cool, it was hard to craft a story or characters from it. so they revamped all of it
our continent seems to just have terrible luck with space and dimensions it seems
yeah
the whole thing with light and dark gods were aspects of Old Lore, and no longer apply to the story in any way
and also why doesnt the gigantic dimensional worm appeared anywhere till it made a deal with yharim
Maybe it was just born recently
to be honest, we have no idea what DoG did before being enlisted
he could have existed in secret, we do know other Distortion dwellers made appearances earlier
yeah
or, like popcorn said, he might be very young
We do know that signus is pretty old and Ceaseless Void predates written history I think
Ceaceless Void is said to have appeared sometime in the Draconic Era, if I remember correctly]
Old (outdated) lore
"But this rift was unquestionably far older than [the Devourer]. It had dated back to the Golden Age of Dragons."
A contained, previously inert portal sealed in the Dungeon. The presiding cult kept it a closely guarded secret.
Upon sighting the Devourer of Gods, their leader hurriedly led me to its chamber to reveal its existence to me.
The portal led to the Devourer's home. It was identical to his, only ancient and perfectly stable.
The serpent claimed: It too was his creation. Its permanence was a mistake he later rectified.
But this rift was unquestionably far older than he. It had dated back to the Golden Age of Dragons.
the draconic era continued past azafure's founding, right? so ceaseless mightn't pre-date the calendar
The Draconic Era ended in 1037
also how did draedon designed a forge that can literaly endure the pressure of universes, or he just used the benefits of his good gamer chair
Well we know from Draedon that Yharon had been alive for quite a while before Azafure was founded
with xeroc's ascension, right?
yes
its just the gamer chair /j
Yes
Well
Moon Lord's invasion and Xeroc's ascension
They both happened in the later half of that year
oh wait, so the invasion lasted only a few months?
It was just one guy so
I mean fair, but it was the strongest guy there was (Xeroc didn't exist yet)
how was yharim so blind that he didnt notice permafrost inside cryogen
he hasnt seen cryogen most likely
I mean it's not like we see him in there before we free him
also, he was almost certain that he was dead. It's not like he was gonna verify
nah when you get cryogens lore piece yharim mentions he always tought when he seen it its just permafrosts old creation
Yharim says in the Archmage lore item that he just thought it was another one of Permafrost's constructs
oh then yeah
permafrost was just hidden inside well
its ice...
if the Mage of Mages who specializes in Ice can't break out of it, it's probably not just ice
i feel like he didn't want to break out of it himself, since he would've been at risk
like thats the entire reason cal even trapped him there
so nobody would find him
yeah also how the heck did calamitas sealed permafrost in cryogen
She’s built different
like she only has brimstone magic
he did teach her
she has more than that
She’s only good at brimstone magic, she can still do the other kinds
Just not very well
She’s still a mage
cal has slight talent in most forms of magic, but really really excels with brimstone magic
But she’s just not like
plus i feel like he was willing to it
permafrost is smart
he realized there wasnt much else he could do to hide
Not only does she have necromancy and hexes, she also was taught a lot about Ice magic
most likely, after creating Cryogen and sealing away Permafrost, she decided not to ever use ice magic again (either out of trauma or respect for her parent figure)
fair enought
Around a month afaik
yeah and also how does yharim has an army that can take down gods, but gets demolished by golem
thats old lore
A month is a lot in terms of a dynamic battle
didnt calamitas awoken golem?
again
old lore
Most long-lasting battles are sieges, or similarly static scenarios
golem is now an idol for the lihzahrds like in vanilla, representing the god that abandoned them
Yeah
You should just forget old lore, because the lore is practically entirely new
But stip
oh yeah and how were astral infection created exactly?
Star got old and became zombie, Deus ate part of it and got controlled and so threw it at earth
astral is created from dead stars bloating with mana and mutating into a virus
Fun fact, he was more like Galaxy Level in Old Lore
deus was there to eat stars and create new ones but he was late to this one and got infected himself
so then whats astrageldon
Gone
it isnt
deleted
Not canon
it doesnt exist
oh right it got removed
@proud harbor read this page to catch up on the lore changes https://calamitymod.wiki.gg/wiki/Lore
The Calamity Mod and much of its contents have lore associated with them. While most of it is unnecessary to the central gameplay, it can be read and understood as a means to make the world feel more alive and give bosses and items more purpose. Most of the lore is a heavy work-in-progress, and as such, information shown here is prone to change.
There's also a doc in pins
There’s also a lore document made by someone that is quite accurate I think
Have you been in a coma for the last 6 years?
Man if only there was an addon that was old lore calamity
It feels like old lore yharim is how he would kinda be during his peak shittiness to me
True
Calamity addon that explores old cal lore and stuff
Brings back the old 2017 designs
The fluffy moth providence
Don't speak like that, it's a bit rude
I've seen plenty of people who haven't played Cal in ages return to the game, so it's fairly common
i've been reading through draetalk but i'm a little tired and can't tell if i've missed something
is there a time frame for when dog joined the crusade? i could use it to come up with something reasonable for the above project
Dog joined pre scal
i meant using dates
What is the oldest calamity logo
since draetalk offers quite a few of them
I dontt hink we know the specifics on it
Oh peak
Also yay we can finally add whatever this is that I found in mod announcements
Seriously what is this
It said it was a teaser for an upcoming enemy for a biome
Never came out
Funny
Distortion sub biome?
it was for the hallow
The post is from 2017
years ago
Oh
I wonder what it was supposed to be
Never mind then
Looked cool
Maybe stronge runicorn type thing
looks like it has the AA 1.3 madness fragment colors
it was jus thallow expansion shit zzzzzzz
powerscalers are horrifying
could this be explained :3
I am
i got distracted while doing a little draetalk research to find dates for stuff for the log
now i've lost motivation to write
maybe i'm just too tired rn
Yeah sleep could help, being a bit past midnight would not do wonders for someone’s ability to write
Rip, I guess you shall go then bye
now i'm just rereading some old things i wrote ages ago
and wow some of these sentences are mouthfuls
playing modded terraria again for the first time in a while, i know there was a lore rewrite but i thought it was more of making it cohesive, is yharim now a good guy or at least less of a genocidal maniac or something?
yharim has much more depth than he used to, though i wasn't well-versed in old lore when it was a thing so i can't say by how much exactly
but yharim in the new lore does commit worldwide genocide of the gods
so hes closer to what the player does as in running around looking for the strongest things to fight?
He is still a monster in many ways, he is just more valid in his reasoning (at the very least in comparison to how he used to be)
there's a lot to the lore that i'm too tired (and lack the time) to explain, but there's a lore doc in the pins detailing everything in-game and other people in here aren't as tired and can help you understand stuff
also, because he is the one writing all of the lore items, he's obviously gonna paint himself in a positive light. If you actually read about what he's talking about while removing the "tint" he puts on it, then the evidence is there that he's not a good person
cool, thanks
this question has a lot of aspects that I would love to explain but would take a while
anyhow it's half past midnight i should go to sleep now i think
yeah i was just confused because the tone of the lore items changed so much, from basically him going "lmao yeah i committed genocide and ill do it again" to "i killed gods and it didnt really make things better"
the main points are; on the surface, you are absolutely correct. hell, Calamitas came after the player because she saw someone akin to Yharim growing in power and wanted to stop us
in addition, Yharim still ravages most of living society, slaying powerful beings and putting the world into chaos
102 page lore document, holy shit lol
it's a good read
most of it is empty space and bullet points, so it's a not nearly as bad
also, there's a lot of details (especially near the bottom) that go into the really small details that aren't required to get the full picture
Yharim commits genocide on a scale you can't even do ingame
He's strongly driven by motivation and past experiences, which makes him understandable, but he's still really evil
the player is a wierd case, because their goals and motivations are entirely up to you, the player. however, from what is implied by Draedon, the actions of the player won't just lead to more havoc, but "a new age", which sort of has a more possitive connotation
I personally have always pictured the player like Xeroc, in a weird way
instead of the Age of Dragons maybe being able to come back, even if it wasn't as bright as it was before, Xeroc made it so the Draconic era would never come back, forcing the world to move towards a new age
I think the player is very similar; Yharim (and his allies) killed almost every god there ever was, and the player simply goes through and clears the way for the future
but like I said, the goals and motivations of the Terrarian are only decided by the player
so the bosses the player fights are pretty much whats left over that yharim didnt kill and/or showed up since he killed a bunch of gods
cool, thanks
in most cases, yeah pretty much
Not all
The actual Gods you kill are Slime God, Providence, and technically Ravager
The thing that alot of people miss is that yharim dosen't regret his actions, he's dedicated his entire life to his genocidal crusade and now he realized he's not gonna be able to see it through before he dies of old age. That + all of his allies leaving him made him depressed as shit, but he's now seeking to manipulate the terrarian into being their successor
He's aware he's not gonna be able to live long enough to be able to complete it
Canonically he's incredibly old and going to die of natural causes regardless within a few years
So he's trying to make it so you complete his crusade for him
Yharim is a very nuanced and in-depth character whilst also being a absolutely horrible person
is there anything on why he wants to wipe out the gods?
Which is a really interesting way to write a character
obviously they arent great, seeing as most are pretty much omnicidal
He believes they're ''sinners" due to having caused the extinction of the dragons. He judges all gods regardless of their actions as evil
This is also not true but to be fair the only gods you see in game do try killing you so i don't blame you
There are, by all means
they and their followers also tossed him and Yharon into lava to try to execute them, so that's not really cool
gods that are despicable
such as providence
who's arguably the most evil character in the mod alongside yharim
i guess the only ones left are lol
and also the gods that wanted yharim to be a god-king as kidwhat mentioned, which yharim would later kill and eventually they'd turn into the evil biomes of today
however
there are also gods that were fully benevolent and/or good people
the gods of the sunken sea (Otonilou, goddess of electricity and Tyrian, god of the sea) were described as developers as benevolent, with otonilou in particular being called a ''saint". It's hard to tell due to the lack of in-game lore rn as the mod has to go through alot of updates still but it's worth noting
Xeroc himself dosen't really seem to be a bad person
another thing is, Yharon really doesn't like the gods because he is a dragon, and most of the gods had to absorb the soul of dead dragons to ascend, making it so the dragon couldn't be reborn.
Because Yharim and Yharon bound their souls together, that hate motivated Yharim to act as well
A few small corrections
go ahead
Most of the gods had to absorb the soul of dead dragons to ascend
It would actually be all of them, not just most
fair enough, don't know why I typed that that way
and
reading the lore doc, the player technically becomes a god too right
Because Yharim and Yharon bound their souls together
they have the power by endgame, and would just need worshippers to fully be one
While they did attune to eachother there's nothing indicating this really influenced them in any way beyond just letting yharim use auric armor
the thing I based that off of was "from that day, our souls were one" or whatever Yharon's lore item says
It's more so just that they're eachother's closest friend so they of course influence eachother deeply
Nope
In order to become a god you need to undergo a specific proccess
and I meant it more as a "you hate these guys with all your heart so I will to" and not a "I am now psychiologically determined to hate them cuz you do"
No. A god is specifically something that consumed an auric soul via a secret ritual. There is only one of those left
You can be more powerful than a god without being a god
You need to consume an auric soul (Of which there only is one left of, Yharon's) through a incredibly specific ritual
Do note the specific ritual part: You don't just "eat" the soul
Only like 3 people alive know the ritual and none of them will ever tell you
Yep
so whats the difference between a god and a godlike being?
The only gods left by the point the game ends in are
thanks for answering my questions btw :)
Xeroc and Silva (With slime god, ravager and providence being killed by the terrarian)
Having done that ritual and getting control over an aspect of the world (called a "domain")
np ^^
I don't know what the definition of a ''godlike being" would be, but as mentioned previously a god needs to through a ritual
to consume an auric soul
a godlike being would probably just be something that gained strength another way
yeah
i meant godlike being as in the player, who is super powerful but not a full god
calamity has a very strict definition of a "god" as opposed to the general vague understanding of a really powerful being that it's usually used as
There are probably a handful more gods hiding somewhere on other continents that we don't know of
Not all gods are even that powerful to be honest, atleast comparatively
Slime God is an actual de facto 100% full blown god and they're
a pre hardmode boss
Things like the player are just ordinary beings that happen to be really strong
I always pictured the absorption of an auric soul almost like a "cheap and easy way to get strong, so long as you can get that Auric Soul". If other beings gain immense strength through other means, they could match the gods
gods are inherently strong but not automatically massively more so than ordinary beings
They're still pretty strong on the grand scheme of things given most regular people can barely kill like, a rotdog
But there's still alot of beings that are much stronger than slime god, per example
Most of which aren't even gods
Like, aquatic scourge is just a regular animal and it's
technically stronger
oh is the player being able to die and respawn canon like in dark souls or is it a gameplay mechanic
just a gameplay mechanic
the Slime God is a particularly special case, sinse the Auric Soul of Gluttony was never really that powerful to begin with
It's around the weakest a god could be
interesting
besides xeroc who's just
also, it deliberately didn't allow itself to grow stronger to "preserve the balance of the world"
the literal strongest character in all of calamity
the strongest gods would likely be at like
a similar level of strenght as providence
she's a really high end goddess all things considered
that has two answers, depending on time period
is the player special somehow in how they gain power or just really lucky in surviving
The terrarian is kind of a blank slate so it's up to you
They don't have much if any actual lore beyond
Person who's strong
Xeroc and Silva are special, we don't know why for sure, but their domains are the same as the dragon's souls they consumed
They went through perfect ascencion
my domain
Something to do with the terminus
prolly
Fovos (moon lord's actual name before being imprisoned) is said to be the second strongest being to ever exist, but that strength is greatly diminished by modern day
Noxus, the strongest being within the Distortion, is still alive and in full strength and is said to be the third strongest
the Terrarian is said to be able to tie in a fight against Xeroc, so he's also on the list
The most likely explanation is that they're an ordinary human really good at making things, and that anyone is physically capable of what the player can do
so the answer to "whos the second strongest" is a bit nuanced
"before being imprisoned" #lore-discussion message
also
The terrarian is the third or second strongest character in-verse depending on wether you believe moon lord is stronger at his prime or not
I mainly said that because the name Fovos is kinda implied to have been lost to hsitory
as far as I'm aware
fair
the terrarian is still behind xeroc yeah
still though they'd be the 2nd or at best 3rd strongest character in the entire verse which is
xeroc is rockmaxxed
pretty impressive
I always say that "Yharim doesnt regret genocide, he just regrets having a child do genocide"
The terrarian could never kill Xeroc, but could be good enough at dodging to survive until Xeroc gives up and leaves if he got really lucky
he regrets failing to finish his genocide
Tbh i don't see xeroc having a reason to actively try killing us
This is also true
They're just chillin
he wouldn't regret using a child soldier if calamitas didn't leave him
damn, so xeroc is so far beyond everyone else that even after fighting yharim, calamitas, draedon's creations and all the other things and taking their power the player isnt even a threat to him?
Correct
xeroc is rockmaxxed as I said
Given enough time, Draedon could build machines that could kill xeroc
i doubt that
i don't
eventually
But this would take at least another 20 years, probably a thousand
in fact i think it's almost guaranteed he Could
It's just that
he has no reason to
is draedon just a gigachad cyborg engineer, not actually that powerful himself?
Again, consider the fact draedon more or less has literal endless time to do research
pretty much lol
Draedon is tricky to analyse in terms of power because
not cyborg, but the rest is accurate
lore chat calamity playthrough when?
He's an AI that's lived for like 600 years
that is assuming Dardon doesn't get rocked by Xeroc into not doing that
Draedon's ''bodies" themselves (such as the one he sends to you)
Are probably not good fighters
wtf I lagged so bad
huh, maybe the older lore had him as a cyborg or something
But considering that draedon is functionally immortal and can basically do anything if you give him enough time and resources
He can kind of do almost anything.... if you give him enough time
can he beat goku tho
I said this before but when it comes to stuff like this draedon shouldn't be analysed as a character or person and more of a force
like
yes
You are right, he used to be a cyborg in old lore
by all means if you give him enough time draedon can blow up the entire jungle
Don't the Tundra weapon schematics say that they're his personal arsenal or summat?
but is it fair to say he's ''stronger" than any other character when he dosen't even have an actual physical body
Specifically the sniper rifle
like, where do you draw the line of
If the laws of physics and magic in the world he inhabits make it possible for something to exist which can beat Goku, then he will eventually be able to do so.
there's norway 🇳🇴
what if you installed limewire onto draedon
he has antivirus its ok
i mean with that much power it kind of gets to a point where he is his creations since theyre so much stronger than him imo
wait if hes an ai is his physical form/computer/whatever somewhere or what
yeah he's an ai
obviously he would have it stupidly well defended and hidden
and he has
basically
endless copies
so even if you like
destroy one of his bodies
he'll just like
go to another
and make another
If draedon wanted, he could pretty much effortlessly put his mind into any of his creations and "be" that creation, but why would he do that when he can be effectively immortal by being on a million computers at once all around the world?
he really is just a force of nature at this point
or well
i guess not a force of nature
For this reason, I think it makes the most sense to consider him as being all of his creations
i mean like is he sort of a hive mind running on many things or does he have one computer in particular that "is" him and that he just runs everything from
As weird as it is, Draedon mentions how his exo technology is linked directly to his “brain” (I could be remembering this wrong)
more like a force of... humanity??
Would that maybe make the exo mechs him?
It's based on the same stuff
Yeah see that's what i'm saying
like
where do you draw the line
''this is draedon" and "this is draedon's creation"
Draedon's machines are him as much as your arm is you
Except that he can decide to remove or replace any piece freely
ok i was under the impression he was on a computer somewhere, but if he just runs himself on everything then yeah xbxb is right imo
We don't think he runs (or stores) himself on everything
That'd be a hellishly costly operation
It would actually be quite easy. He wouldn't put his whole mind on every device, he'd distribute it across all his servers
Cloud computing, basically
Destroying a single one of the "server" furniture objects in one of his labs would be like cutting off a single one of his neurons
Draedon is a business mastermind and is a calamitillionaire
draedon seems pretty cool aside from the lack of morals, bro just wants to work on his tech
Pretty much his whole deal
I'm not sure this is right, but if you wanted to approach things logically and make the best system, this is what that would be.
I think I remember reading that his conscious is backed up in multiple server rooms
Can’t remember if that’s Draetalk or a dev statement
It’s not like he would need to worry about the power consumption his mind in every device would have, since Exo prisma generate a ludicrous amount in small prisms
draedon gives the player the blueprints for the forge? damn, he REALLY just wants to keep building fancier toys lmfao
for
four
Hi
a
why are you braelor ant
like they make primordial light powers weaker or something
fovos brought a whole setup just to win against zerry
Do the pillars even have connections to fovos in calamity, or are they a separate holdover from vanilla?
they probably have something to do with fovos but theres nothing rlly mentioned iirc
My guess is that the pillar enemies are essentially Fovos’ army
I mean, there were hundreds of dragons and they lost cuz they tried to fight the threat one on one, there had to be something keeping them from organizing properly
or they fought him one by one because they wanted to see who could take him down first?
i mean its not like they'd be able to organize well anyways i dont think the dragons had any major threats to practice fighting threats on
"Actually fighting things" is part of why Yharon is noted to be so strong
I don’t think it’s fovos army, instead it’s dragons using the torn off parts of moonlords power and using it to bind it to the moon (basically tying moonlord to the moon with its own flesh and magic)
Since they did damage moonlord before sealing
So there would be flesh and cosmic energy around the place
My main reason for thinking that is that the pillars seem to hold moonlord back instead of helping moonlord come over
Honestly an interesting take
They didn’t understand how powerful Fovos was, so they turned it into a sport of sorts
And yeah, the only beings stronger than Zeratros at that point weren’t on Terraria (Fovos and Noxus) so that would make sense
If that's the case then... Are we, the player even the good guy if we're gonna release the cosmic horror that wiped out most of the dragon race onto the world?
For what reason, why do we even do this. Did we just wake up and decide "mmm yes, killing monsters then gods than fighting Yharim sounds good today"
The player is a blank slate representing your headcanons
murder hobo 😈
It's entirely up to you what they do, how they act, what their motivations are, and so on
in a way, sure, freeing Fovos is not a good thing
but, letting him sit still and recover from his grievous injury would only make him stronger later. In a way, the Terrarian stops a huge, potentially world shaking disaster later by dealing with the crippled form of Fovos now
whether or not that's what the Terrarian wanted or intended to do is up to the player
true
best headcanon
my character is a well-oiled machine that turns deeply-written characters into crafting materals
i am the one who crafts
umm i dont think he'd ever regrow his legs
but its still better to kill him rather then have some evil guy release him eventually
is fovos sapient
crazy
i think a better question is are interstellar beings allowed to regenerate full body parts
I was crazy once.
by davjt
yes
did draedon have a chance to study ml during our fight
is luminite part of fovos or part of the moon created by dragons
the only thing draedon was studying during our character's journey was yharim's finely polished and sculpted armor
from afar
i thought the dragons creating the moon was scrapped
huh
