Oh also about the dragon aerie. Does it exist in a different realm? Draedon speaks as if it doesn't exist in the normal realm
I have so many questions for you
most will be answers in time
NOOO I NEED THEK NOW!!!
anyways apologies for lore stuff being slow recently i have been needing to work on a lot of different things at once

Fair, writing is hard
It's ok, I'm really interested tho because I'm also a writer
well lets see here
lets say the average cal playthrough takes like 50-60 hours of gametime, one in game day is 24 minutes, then we're looking at the game taking place over like 3-6 months
I’ve started taking a brief foray into writing and man this is rough
calculating stuff like that doesn't really mean anything
How many gods has Yharim killed? Is he experienced or has he had the others do it for him
Whilst I don’t mean to pester with too many questions, how literal is the terrarian hearing the lore items?
"where cal takes place in couldn't possible be a continent, using block measurements, it's at most like 20,000 feet across" yeah and the playspace of Skyrim is smaller than disney world and its parking lot

How much more powerful has Yharim became ever since the upgrade? Should we be expecting a huge difference?
Lmao
draedon says he made them to match yharim's strength from when they last met and he's the boss after them and cal so
can't logically be a massive jump
he's gotten stronger yes but it'd be absurd if he got way stronger
calamity island
where all the calamities take place
Is yharim going to die at the end? I don't know if ur able to answer this because this might be asking of alot but I've heard so many saying we'll kill him. And if so will there be an animation of him saying goodbye or asking us to be his successor?
Sorry if I'm yapping, just Soo so so curious about the story
it'd be weird if he didn't die considering letting him go would be like beating up stalin then letting him go. except that's an unfair comparison.
becuase yharim's worse.
Yharim speaks as if he expects us to become a new ruler. Is that true?
yharim's goals are whatever yharim's current goals are
Does that mean we currently don't know
Like what if they released all of the kill count of all calamity character
correcto
Who threw Yharim into the lava? I thought it was guards in the old lore. Who did it in the new lore?
And do we have any idea on what weapon Yharim will be wielding. And is he even capable of combat without one? Asking because you stated him to be physically powerful
We do have an old sprite of Yharim with a T-shaped sword
Iirc it’s been stated that yharim uses a sword, although his fists pack a good ol auric rejecting punch
Oh, and how on earth did he ever just. Become "super strong" does he take steroids.. is it his suit? A blessing? Curse??
Yharon attunement
training

yeah this answers your questions
he wears auric armor
he can just punch a bitch and they'll go flying
That is sick
But im asking how did he become that
in terms of pure, physical might
Is it yharons influence on him physically
Or just some outside factor we don't know
he fought in war for like a hundred years and went through intense training
So ur saying if I keep training i can become one punch man (joke)
Bros training regime must be stacked
Lmfao 100 push ups a day
Drop his workout routine
dude kills gods for a living
he's an army in of himself
Is yharims red hair part of his armor or his actual hair...
who knows
SHE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!
Does yharim sleep in his armor?
This is a joke question, no real reason to answer
LMFAO
Prolly doesn't sleep
Or has a need for it. Player don't sleep either.. now while I don't think so because we control them then again life fruits and allat exist to replenish the mind and whatever
I love to imagine Yharim sleeping in a room full of auric furniture, like some guy sneaking inside and immediately explode upon contact
Cei will we get a whisper from Yharim and his final words, can I get an example or taste of what he'll say after hes defeated??? Bosses drop his reactions. So he should too once he's done for
Honestly for that kind of stuff we’ll just have to wait and see
sleep? dude probably showers in it.

We all know real gamers don't shower
Does yharim even HAVE plumbing? Might have a pleasant waterfall to bathe in
God yharim must smell fucking rancid, and they call draedon the gamer
Idk why but part of me feels like draedon would call me slurs after losing in COD
Draedon looks old and rusting unlike his Gaming chair like a real gamer, cares more about it's PC than his unhealthy body
even disregading that the world before the crusade was still has like, 1780's to 1800's level tech in some places like Azafure, i mean
draedon can make teleporters
i think he could make some good plumbing

Fair enough, yeah
but yeah like essentially before the crusade big cities had industrial revolution level of technology
with other places ranging from a few decades to a century or two behind that tech level
That kind of checks out considering places like azafure started having pollution and shit
stuff like guns and forms of electrical lighting existed before draedon ever made his appearence
they just weren't in very advanced forms
Draedon should become an NPC if the player sets up a lab for him ngl
why would he?
Draedon is comfy in his own lab
he could amke far better ones himself
Just for game purposes
Wherever the hell it is, anyways
But I see ur point
draedon has lots of labs as you can see in-game
he doesnt stay in one place for long
Will there be a timeline of what happens after we kill Yharim?
nope
What had happened to yharims empire. Or city. Or whatever it was
majority of them left
"empire", pretty much
His soldiers became the mech trio. But what happened to civilians?
relaly it was more like the mongols
I was gonna say draedon probably has a lot of money, but honestly probably not, he so scarcely uses anybody but himself and his robots for his work
an extraordinarily large band of nomadic warriors who conquored huge tracks of land in relatively little time
He doesn’t have much to spend it on in my eyes
which yeah the mongols are lagrely what yharim's forces are based on
which will become more obvious as i go more into detail about the logistics of the army
So while I know you said we don't know yharims current intentions. Can I at least know the purpose behind him giving the player messages. I mean after all Yharim messaged us at the beginning before we killed bosses and did impressive feats
Wait til the yharim update drops and all amounts of peak occur

In like…soon™️
When yharim drops I guess I’d go back to all my old playthroughs and beat him in them, would fight yharim so damn much
Well I enjoyed the talk, Thanks for answering my questions. If you don't mind can I DM you every so often regarding the lore if you have the time? Id really appreciate it
But the fight will probably be peak
It better be
I'm gonna be very upset if not
Calamitas speaks of him as if he's unbeatable. And that's the perfect aura villains should maintain
He's gonna be the strongest foe the terrarian will have faced yet
But to be fair Yharim is also the target of cal's trauma so it's only natural she'd have her doubts about us winning
She probably is way more scared of him than like everyone else we know of
Yharim is so tall man, bro ate his veggies
Oddly enough calamitas is a small part of the reason I haven’t gotten a start on my fanfic, just since I feel like I’ll be bad and dumb and write her character poorly
dnd fighters if Wizards of the Coast weren't staffed by cowards
I love having an unreasonable fear of failing!!
there is no failure
actually
idk
IM FUCKING LINKING MY FANFIC AGAIN RAAHHHH!!!
unless that's not okay here
is it?
I don't blame you cal is a really hard character to get right as seen by most of the community mischaracterizing her alot
I think i can confidently say i could probably do her justice for the most part but that's also because i can relate to her to an extent anyways
Wait your city was burned to the ground?
Yeah that’s fair, thing is I can’t really relate to her which is part of the reason I think I’d do a shitty job
Not that part
the only chapter of my calamity fanfic that i've finished is what Calamitas was up to while the Terrarian is doing his thing
which i havent even written a full chapter for
I know i was joking
I know i also was
this is a challenge
He better be, I really wanna see Yharim display a Darth Vader type of vibe
The type of character who walks into the room and you can just feel the fear of the characters growing because of them knowing who just walked in lol
When did we decide yharim was a purely evil guy?
He is
Not purely evil, im saying he should have a dominating presence
He isnt
He's literally genocide mc facist he's an evil ass motherfucker
I suppose darth vader did become good in the end
Buuuuuutttt
I shan’t hear you out
The idea that yharim is good in the slightest comes from the fact like
My point went straight over this dudes head
No buts.
He does have a few good morals
half of the lore ingame right now comes from him
Like not liking slavery
The other half comes from another sociopath
He isn’t pure evil, but still super fucking evil
Yes
He's not pure evil like what courier Said
But you can still recognize he's A Human and not some like Force
Draedon is also not evil just amoral
Yeah
Draedon has no sense that what he does goes against what he should
Cheese why do you speak as if he's the incarnation of evil lol
Despite the fact he has done some absolutely horrid things
All my homies think draedon is epic even if he is a mass murderer
He's not the incarnation of evil he's just evil as shit
Draedon is chaotic passive
He's not evil or good. Just doing his own thing
I just don't like it when people try defending him as being morally gray or something when he's clearly not
And also last time i got in a argument about yharim being evil i got sexually harrased in this chat so i've been a bit more defensive regarding that to be honest i wonder who did that anyways
oops
Draedon has some human traits though, like inspiration.
He is, under technical terms he would fall under morally gray. Someone hasn't done their research
Wow, that's crazy
That sure was a situation
He has done horrible things and he has admitted it
(I didn’t mention it at the time but being described as a “baddie” during that conversation made me incredibly uncomfortable, even if not nearly as bad)
Clearly a bad person but still human
Doing terrible things doesn't mean you are the most vile person in existence. I acknowledge the truth that he's evil. But he isn't 100% monster lol
I KNOW I DIDNT… whatever he’s just a guy
Vader mainly is an example of that. Dude committed basically genocide thinking he was doing the right thing. And whiles it's twisted and sick. I find some form of beauty in the writing of how characters get to the point of thinking that
That's why I enjoy characters with problems like this
It makes them interesting
Oh his character is brilliant
Yharim is a very well written character he's just a terrible person and some people don't know the distinction beetween those two things
You can like a character while acnowledging they're a bad person
I wont deny, the entire point of the story is essentially a cycle of hate and its great to watch as an outsider
Ikr, finally someone gets what I'm talking about
You must enjoy media as much as I do
Random example, the owl houses main villain is absolutely horrid, but my god he’s so well written
Oh i love media
Btw i'm trying to be civil here but it admittedly is hard when the person who did that is on the chat currently and hasn't done as little as apologizing so could you do that 🙏
(In terms of that show there’s also odalia who is a bitchass motherfucker who is well written)
I love belos as a character
I forget everything about that guy except time travel
His VA really sells it
I only remember him when he becomes slimy
Go to my dms and speak to me privately if you want to discuss personal matters. I'm respectful here because that's how I should be, if we were anywhere else you would hate me as much as you hate Yharim
It's not personal matters i just want a apology for being sexually harrased on a public discord but alright 😭
ah yes, yharim is "good" despite him killing half of the population
Oh wow drama
Not saying he's good,
with him comitting serveral war crimes
I ain't even trynna be agressive anymore i just want a apology because it's not very comfortable to be around someone who did that without them atleast acnowledging it was wrong tbh 🙏
Reminds me of someone
The fact our continent to our knowledge is close to barren says a lot, I wonder where everybody went
WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW i swear this cycle is more inescapable than the cycle of hate yharim is supporting in a cool way
Yo accept my friend request we both enjoy good media, would like to exchange ideology with you
Its almost midnight im going to bed see you in the morning
Cya bro
goodnight dboss from calamity mod discord
Goodnight
@pliant ruin
You awake?
I wanted to know if you’d be okay if I dm’d you something that wasn’t relevant here
Hello lore fellas
How loreful is this
Is this a creacher that more or less did the same thing as crabulon did? Very cool design
Crabulon but Isopods
Pretty much
peak

yharim
Is that the half life logo on is chest
no thats a lambda
you may also notice
that this is art of half life deathmatch classic
calamity yharim if it was good
I read up
I think we should burn lore discussion to featureless ash
THIS LITERALLY THIS
people think that characters making mistakes is bad writing
and its the stupidest fucking thing ive ever heard
ah hell naw daichin became provipilled
Everytime somebody is like "well yharim isn't that bad" and/or soemthing about choosing not to kill him i always think of this image

Steven Universe levels of redemption right here
anyways i shall return to writing
have been working on calamitas town dialogue
probably not final but
Draedon had dad and I visit his labs sometimes to fix equipment that was “experiencing temperature irregularities” or help with tests that “required thermal stimulation”. One time though, I accidentally used too much heat and liquefied one of his machines. I felt bad at the time, but in retrospect, I really should have done that more often.
draedon is the typa mf who probably reacted like ":::_::: I see." when that happened
Calamitas has parents?
Wdym Draedon had dad.............
(Draedon had) (dad and I) (visit...)
She calls Permafrost dad
Basically what they said
What kind of fuck names himself permafrost anyways
draedon's dad was daedalus and his mom was the mega mammoth dragon
he had been called many things over the years
Mammoth dragon Based
that's the one he likes the best
Oh also cei, I had an idea you might like
So, the tundra is weird. It's a giant mass of ice in an otherwise empty hole, that goes almost all the way to the underwood.
So, the tundra is weird
hey i'm not that weird
are you tho...........
It's also sort of triangle shaped. If it was a natural glacier, that triangle would be flipped, wider at the top and dug into a normally shaped hole in the ground
So this massive block of ice has to have been artificially placed in a giant hole somehow. Either that, or it was a very large and deep ocean that was all frozen and then the sides gradually pressed inwards over time
there is already a lil bit about the tundra's formation
is a bit obscure though
i plan to elaborate further
I knew about that. It makes sense, but there's a lot that's still not accounted for
and where's the fun in that

The ice block stops a little above the lava layer. Logically, this should result in a region of flooded caves underneath the tundra, heated by all that lava, or otherwise the ice claspers would have eaten all the heat from that lava too, to stop it from melting the ice.
It would be hard to maintain such a sharp line
There's also frozen zombie mermen, which indicates this might have been an ocean once. And viking skeletons, Vikings are known to be seafaring
i will say that one thing i always enjoyed from old lore was the tundra being in some shape or form, not a nautral formation
some influence caused it to be that way
which given its weird placement and shape makes sense
Why is the stone on the side tilting inwards so much? Is terraria on a converging Continental plate boundary?
If the ice was melted, a massive amount of stone would collapse inward
It must also be very old, geologically old
In order to account for some things you see in it I think
tbh there's already a lot of fuckery involving large bodies or water in cal
i feel like something like that would make it like "cei this is the third time you've shown a fucked up body of water this weel"
so i have some other ideas
though that wa sa thought i had
with the vikings and all
Yeah I guess that's fair, but the sunken sea is supposed to be mostly caves, whereas the tundra is a single giant and solid block of ice
hilariously my current ideas on it are inspired by two old bits of worldgen fuckery i got a long time ago
Anyways, you know where you see environments like the tundra in real life?
Europa. Big ball of ice heated from below, subsurface ocean exists as a result
(also Enceladus and possibly Mimas, but those are less well known)
some minor worldbuilding stuff idk wsill fit anywhere: i always iamgine the tundra as soemthign that was a large source of water for people that lived further away from the sunken sea
before living on the surface became more common
they would mine out ice from the tundra, distill it while letting it melt, then boil it to get anything else out
That's a lot of energy used. You only really need to melt it and filter it, as microbes don't generally survive inside ice
Then again, terraria has a lot of lava available. On the other hand, lava has a low thermal mass and will solidify faster than you expect in contact with cold water.
Would the lava directly below the tundra melt some ice? You'd think so
There should be a natural sea there
And/or heavily worn down stone or sand
i mean, there are plenty irl that have specifically adapted to live in in extraordinarily cold envrionments
Oh absolutely, just generally not inside solid objects
which in turn could still be in the water when it melts
(i put too much thought into details im not even sure will get in)

You should totally put in a third ocean biome under the ice
It would be a great place for ilmerians that escaped
but i already came up with a reason that nothing like that forms :/
smh
Aww, now I won't get to know what it is and won't get a cool ocean
bacteria and viruses can actually be trapped in ice for tens of thousands of years and still be revived afterwards
A thought: it would be quite hard for a crusade to find people that were just in a random sealed cage in the middle of nowhere, and so there should be more survivors
And then they fucking died due to frostbite
And turned into ice mermen
This is true, but uncommon and doesn't result in glacier melt water being dangerous. It's the cleanest water there is.
The lava lakes at the very bottom of the tundra should keep the water melted though
That was the point
So some would die that way on the journey there but some should have made it
Anyways, I think generally, having pre-existing towns of NPCs in the world would be cool, and make things more alive. You wouldn't need a lot of them, just like 2 places with one or two people there
Windfall iirc
This is genuinely so cool
Calamitas calling permafrost dad makes me so happy because i've headcanon-ed her doing that for a while now
and
yeah 110%
it only makes sense
this dialogue alone is such a good way to characterize her because the fact she felt bad for melting the machines accidentaly back then is a great way to show she her actual personality because like 80% of the community loves depicting her as incredibly grumpy and antisocial and grumpy and i'm sitting here like
no shes not. stop
yes i said grumpy twice. that wasn't intentional but i'll pretend it was now
calamitas isn't mean she's just sad
cals' perosnality is that she's a sometimes sad and/or overly worried but overall casual person who can be kinda spiteful and pretty sarcastic at points
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYIN
the community really likes depicting her as like. a massive antisocial jerk i feel
like the type of person that will set you on fire because you played music too loud or something
She deosn't care if people don't reallt talk to her or visit her, but she doesn't actively avoid such situations
she's an introvert, not antisocial
those are different things
i'm so glad the writing team is good
stop portraying calamitas as a girlboss
start portraying her as a girlfailure
🙏
Given her trauma stems from her being manipulated into hurting thousands i think the last thing she'd want to do would be to genuinely hurt someone again
I can see her being a little mean and all but i think if she felt like she actually hurt someone, whether physically or emotionally, she'd be really sad about it and do her best to apologize or make it up for them
Like she'd probably be casually snarky as you said but she'd not like
actually want to hurt anyone
I like to imagine that in a alternate reality where she actually managed to kill the terrarian she'd have a full on panic attack after the fight ended and she realized what she just had done
Oh absolutely
she'd feel good about it for 15 minutes then go "oh shit"
"i should not have done that"
I also ahev it where like, other town NPCs don't HATE her
they're jsut intimidated by her
which to be fair
Yeahhhh that's completely fair
I can't wait for more perma and cal content in the future
has he changed for the better? yes. would be almsot certainly be fine to be around? yes.
but he's still fucking intimidating
Her calling him dad is already so good i'm glad that y'all are thinking about canonizing that
Given she can be spiteful
But if she is
She ahs good reason
Like if where she lives currently is overtaken by crimson/corruption
It seems you’re equally as neglectful as Yharim was when it comes to the remains of dead gods. Good to know.
president permafrost steps down, states VP calamitas as next runner
Good to know.
I love that
Because the entire thing of her being a part of your little society is to watch over you to really see what kind of person you are
she's just like.
she dosen't even have the energy to be fully mad at you she's just kind of disappointed
LOL
During a party:
I’d participate in party games more often if people quit losing to me on purpose in an attempt to not upset me.
Can't wait for my scrungly to get the love she deserves when it comes to characterization in the mod. Draedon got his turn on the xbox already,,,
THIS IS SO GOOD
also since y'all enjoy calamiats calling perma "dad"
have this too
Hey, I know dad can go on and on sometimes, but do me a favor and at least listen to him. Even if it’s boring. Feeling like he has a proper student again makes him happy.
tbh i kinda think cal should call permafrost 'father' rather than dad, bit more formal
nah cal isnt that formal
That feels more like a past cal thing
Like
I feel like she'd call him father while she was at the yharmy
amidias, perma, draedon, and yahrim are all already pretty damn formal
I wonder how calamitas and permafrost feel about the player given different player behaviors and classes they might use
meanwhile cal is a girl in her late 20's who ran out of shits to give five years ago
maybe as a remnant from those less fondly remembered times
Picturing that Calamitas thought she was a hero back when she was in the yharmy, i imagine she had a much more sort of porsch and formal attitude back them as to try being a good role model even if she was like 14
Like
Oh I've been working on lines that only show up if their hapiness is high or low
yeha
She was trying to be the honor student basically
meanwhile like 26-28 or so calamitas doesn't care anymore
My characters always get NPCs to at least neutral happiness, usually high
yeah she don't care anymore
I try to get all of the cal npcs to max happy cuz i like them
Idc too much about the vanilla ones but tbf i give them all (or try to) good houses
I am working on giving vanilla NPCs some more background
if yharon wants to protect yharim, why didn’t he just step on the terrarian once they started getting a bit powerful? is he stupid?
Some of them are just not manageable like the truffle and angler
Demolitionist and Tax Collector being former residents of Azafure for example
are you going to consider vanilla lore or do it away entirely
Interesting
Also oh my god
This is so good too
True..
with what little vanilla lore there is ig
Please make the cyborg not contradict himself and replace all his dialogue
And also bestiary entry
demolitionist is interesting
what, all three pages of it that isn't even in-game?
but makes sense actually

Because seriously the cyborg, in game, in vanilla, contradicts himself in behavior and lore constantly
Cal genuinely still caring about permafrost is something i've always imagined but was never shown ingame so it was hard to know what their relationship would be like now
i imagine azafure had plenty of variety between its residents
This is so wholesome 🥹
rather than just the calamitas-type fellas
i mean azafure was a mining heavy city-state with lots of industry that had need for explosives, and he likes underground
One minute he's a robot with no emotion, the next he's a human with robot parts
Terraria npcs work for what they are because they're not meant to be actual characters tbh
they're just videogame guys that sell you stuff with some quirky personality bits
oh i dont plan on giving them proeprly fleshed out characters
just some little background
ye
as a treat
i think just having them make sense to exist would be neat
i want them to make sense to exist
I would love this
make pirate one of the people who tried hunting down old duke
maybe he could give you a tip about bloodworms or something
just as a neat lil thing
Also if you want to flesh out the lore you could add more people like the skeleton merchant, NPCs who exist but don't move in
I think pirate would respect old duke
Or like the old man, found at specific locations
i mean thats what statis and- yeah
Oh interesting. I assumed they'd move in
nope
statis will be a "wandering" npc like the sketon merchant but you can find him anywhere
i still kinda would like the goofy pretense that vanilla terraria dialogue has to remain a bit should vanilla npc dialogue changes
I wanna get the gays together
usually at night
I doubt it'll change
Not too much anyways
vanilla npcs aren't meaningful enough for them to change their dialogue i imagine
considering additions as well
They're walking gimmicks lol
that is one thing i disagree with with some of the team
some people wanna remove msot goofiness
please keep sweden canon
i think that's not a good idea
yeah
there needs to be a little bit of goofiness
terraria is inherently goofy
I think with the way cal is written there should be a bit of goofiness but definitely nowhere near as much as terraria
thats the thing
Yeah, that makes sense for where you find them initially, but it's sad if you can't rescue Braelor and reunite them. And status would probably stay with braelor
even Dark Souls has a bit of goofiness
calamity shouldnt get rid of the goofiness, just
push it to the side
but also it shouldn't be like terraria where the game dosen't take itself seriously in the slightest
because there's like
an actual narrative here
yeah like
I enjoy making things that dont seem goofy in cotnext but if you take them out of context sound goofy as fuck
i don't think any media can get away with being 100% serious all the time, or barely any anyways
well yeah because vanilla terraria doesnt really have a narrative while calamity provides its own
i still kinda hate how ppl call calamity edgy, just because it tries taking itself seriously
REAL
terraria only got a story when relogic decided to pull a hyrule historia on us
people call calamity edgy because it has a story
How about characters that aren't important to the story? The bandit is like the only one
i enjoy bandit as a character not relevant to the story
and doesnt care about whats going on
it dosen't have queen slime bath water and takes itself seriously unlike vanilla terraria so it's bad and edgy >:(
literally callign draedon in what i have written
I think there's room for characters that aren't important to the story. But are affected by it. For example, ilmerian survivors
the bandit doesnt care about what's going on they just wanna loot shit and get rich quick.
That's kinda all the vanilla ones in this too
dislikes tinkerer and doesnt care about the lore or whatever, they just want to use cool stuff
I feel like the dryad should be important, or explained
Like. you didn't need that shitty pillbug that scams you or that big giraffe looking thingy that wants to eat you to exist in hollow knight
i really think dryad is underused in the lore
They still do though, and while ultimately the game didn't NEED them they make the world a bit more lively and provide some family guy funny moments
she has somewhat of a connection to silva but its really nothing much
Did the dryads live in the jungle ruins? Did they make plantera?
probably will become more relevant when silva lore is implemented
I imagined they might be pieces of Silva like how the brimlings are pieces of brimmy
But possibly partly autonomous even since Silva became a god
actually calamity is bad becuase it has a plot
I think it'd make sense if dryads lived in the giant tree rooms
I never understood the people that complain about calamity removing the goofiness from vanilla or not having vanilla lore on it or whatever tbh
Like
and for whatever reason i can't jsut choose to ignore it even if i dont pay attention and skip all of it it still somehow negatively affects me for some reason
:/
Do characters have canonical heights
Vanilla in game lore sucks ass And I want it replaced
If you don't like it having an actual plot so much that you think them having one is a negative why don't you just like
ignore it
vanilla in-game lore basically doesnt exist
there isnt any vanilla lore though
It's not changing anything about your gameplay
its in a forum post
It does if you pay attention
And why should devs need to build off vanilla lore
No. This is just false. The bestiary and NPC dialogue tells you about it
And you know what? It contradicts itself constantly! And I hate it!
Do minecraft mods always need to build off minecrafts mechanics???
fuck no give me the nuclear bomb mod that feels nothing like vanilla minecraft
who cares
though the funniest complaint will always be
Look at every piece of text regarding the cyborg before the happiness system and bestiary were added, and after. Both of these groups of dialogue still exist in game
Terraria modification players when the terraria modification modifies terraria
"new lore is bad because it makes the cal universe's pwoer not scale as high"
Lol ok
I'M AWARE THESE PEOPLE EXIST
dryads beat up cthulhu
order of guide exists
mechanic thrown into dungeon
mechanic creates organs for cthulhu 2.0 because cultist told her to do so
then events of terraria game
and thats basically vanilla lore
BUT I'M SO GLAD I HAVEN'T MET THEM
High power scaling is lame as hell
Hi 🧀
hi akari
this is like
what the fuck does 4d universal even mean
No. There's more, hidden in game, and it sucks
the most common thing people complain about
Strolling
like if you're gonan deescribe power
The thing about terraria lore is that it isn't meant to be good in first place
describe what a charactr can destroy
Because CMT tends to rot my head at times
The devs clearly didn't put much effort into it coz they don't really want to put effort into it
whats the point of everyone being ridiculously strong if they all have to be nerfed in order for the story to even make sense
It's utter bullshit made by people who have severely misunderstood physics
real tbh
if yharim could destroy a continent he'd just
do that
like
btw guys i finished chainsawman part 1 today just felt like saying that
Yharim really doesn't sound like he can be over country level
its completely unrelated
if the character were that strong the plot wouldnt have happened
i just wanted to mention it
yharim is table breaker tier
Power scaling that is commonly accepted as fact is completely nonsensical past planet level
CSM is very good
chainsaw man is really good
VERY good
Yeah CSM is awesome
people say they got nerfed the hardest
probably my favorite manga ive read in a long while
The whole crusade wouldn't be decades long
genuinely i think its my 3rd favorite manga/anime now
but xeroc would still destroy literally everyone on the planet if they wanted to
behind evangelion at 2nd and madoka at 1st
madoka magica is also soo fucking good
Numerically speaking, he did, but none of that actually matters
my only real critique is that some of its characters imo were underutilized
like some of them just kind of died too fast for their deaths to feel truly meaningful
Anyway I should be asleep
not madoka i mean
madoka is perfect 0 flaws best show ever
csm
csm is still peak though thats legit
my only critique with it
and its only a few characters
most of them felt like they were utilized well
the only reason anyone would care about how the cal universe scales is if they were comparing it to another series
mod of redemption
Calamity mod SOLOS uhmmmm
in which case
HOW IS THAT CAL'S FAULT
let me think
YOU'RE THE ONE COMPARING TWO UNRELATED UNIVERSES
Very few mods would actually scale over cal
it SOLOS monkey ball
probably
idk
monkey ball has like a monkey inside a plastic ball thats probably easy to win against
like not only is it a tiny monkey but hes stuck inside a ball
yharim is still like an army in of himself. he can create like 80 feet wide craters with his punches.
A human could win against that
narratively he doesn't need to be any stronger than that
Perhaps but he is by no means a continent buster
It'd be so cool if Yharim had a phase 2 where he either loses or ditches the sword and just starts beating the shit out of you with his fists ....
dragon ball rotted the minds of powerscalers istg
i have my own ideas for phase 2
Very cool
they wont be happy unless every character ever can destroy the universe with a punch
yharim gfb should revolve around tables
as a huge dragon ball fan, 90% of dragon ball fans can't read
I had an old idea of an event called "Yharims army" where you go wave by wave and last wave you fight Yharim
i swear you took that from fandom
dbz fans when a guy who was forced to fight for his life since he was 5 YEARS OLD wants to live a normal life
Before 1.4 cal was a thing
90% of dragon ball fnas on their way to miss half of the point of the show then claim it has 0 depth and how they would do it better (their ideas make no sense with the overarching themes and characters)
i had seen this idea before
I think cal could use some more events tbh
somewhere
nerd gohan is best gohan
so true
post moon lord as a whole is lacking on the Content side of things
beyond bosses and weapons
but i'm sure that'll be remedied in due time
i can understand people liking badass gohan
Distortion would save it
and i do too, cell saga gohan was cool
gohan has earned his rest
but dear god you have like 20 other characters who can take that role
Also I don't think this will happen but yharim riding yharon into battle against you would be cool
he's dead
i have my own thoughts about yharim's fight
might aswell
true
every boss has an enrage condition that involves fuckign with the boss in some way
yharim just throws beenades at you like a 1.3 player against wall of flesh
Projects his soul and creates an afterimage
what would you do to fuck with him....
what does that even mean
summon queen bee
Nothing
during fight
all i can picture is either something to do with gods or dragons but i don't think you can either ascend to godhood or kill any dragons in your fight with him
Anyways yharim should take 10x damage from plague
just getting him into phase 2 would be his enrage
anyway i want yharim to literally just
stand still in front of the grave of light
give it build up
but not some ridiculous entrance
arguspilled
oh you know yharim is just there looking off the edge
honestly yeah
facing away from you until the fight starts
Almost like he needs motivation
oh he's definitely gonna do that
theres some stuff about the colosseum im not a fan of but
that's like
argus is cool
a given
Me asf
"yharim regrets stuff though" he regrets losing his allies
never once does he mention regretting the genocide
he still thinks that was totally cool
It dosen't even seem like he understands that they left him for the genocide part
Yharim coping : yeah I did all that BUT ITS JUSTIFIEABLE
Also I found this out recently but cal hates crags and loves the forest, very cute
From his dialogue in the whispers it seems like he thinks cal left him purely because of the way he treated her and not because he manipulated her into commiting genocide
Like
it seems less like
i feel like even if he spelled it out straight up that he didnt regret it
people would still say he regrets it
"she dislikes me because i put too much pressure into her when she was at a young age, i shouldve waited a bit longer :("
Yharim refuses to accept that anything he has done is wrong
I don't think anyone who does genocide regrets it, really
Like that's exactly what it feels like to be honest
questionable, yes, but never wrong
moral of the story is absolute power bad but gods arent bad not through mere existence but by their choices
and that we should be better than this
we will be the gods we choose to be
yharim's strength is the second scariest thing about him
Like it's clear yharim knows he didn't treat cal ''well" but i think he probably just thinks he shouldn't have made her kill all those people when she was young or something
the scariest thing about him is how good was was convincing other people that he was right for so long
Like he probably thinks if he had waited for her to grow up before making her kill Millions it would've been cool
yharim alone could have never went on his crusade
Pretty much putting pressure on her at a young age
I can picture him trying to ''apologize" to cal only for her to go
maybe in his enraged phase his disfigured face should be revealed sorta like anakin skywalker/darth vader
"dude you made me kill like alot of people i dont think you understand why i hate you. anyways fuck you. die."
as le symbolism
i usually have a fiction inspiration
and a rela life inspiration
yharim's fictional inspiration is Dagoth Ur
from Morrowind
cal is inspired by ME
Guess his real life inspiration
pol pot
Adolf hitler
nope
the German man
I think i know
nope
Or genghis khan idk
oh
But i don't know if i want to say it .
nope
mao zedong
the empire of hsi was based on the mongols
Nevermind okay
but he wasnt
Oh
Wait no
I think i might still b eon the right track
OKAY SO
just so we're like
nope again
nope
oh so it's not
uhh
hmm
i actually am not sure
The answer is, and this is going to sound so fuckign weird if you know relatively little about him
This implies yharim loves aureus
Walt Disney
(he doesn't)
LOL
that kinda tracks
ok honestly
i know some about disney
I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING BUT IT MAKES SENSE
is that because walt disney is heavily antisemitic
Yharim pioneered animation ⁉️
(Don't ask him what his original plans for the EPCOT Center were)

russian propaganda cartoons but for yharim's army
for those who do not know
Walt Disney's original plans for EPCOT was for it to be an experimental society that he had sole control over
He was a man impossible to tell "no" to and constantly mourned freidns and famility who abandoned him for reasons he convicned himself were not his own problems
Yeah he basically wanted to make his own little dictatorship lmao
But at the same time was famous for his personality
That always convinced the common person to be on his side
Even if those closest knew the truth
A man who yearned to see his every ambition realized
So yeah
Him being an inspiration from Yharim tracks if you have that context

lets ask the real questions here
does yharim drop a lore item on defeat assuming he doesnt die by the player's hand
also assuming that lore items would remain as the main method of background storytelling
yharim's gonna die
and lore items are almost definitely going to be replaced

Draedon takes over the lore item writing
lore items will be the main method of background storytelling
kinda hard to talk when you're dead
The lore items are less so lore items and more just yharim yapping in your ears so
it wouldn't be a good idea
to keep them as the ''main'' form of storytelling
it's more so that cal just dosen't really
ive never liked lore items tbh
have many methods of storytelling right now
also eyah given in the enar future
so they stick out like a sore thumb
"lore items" are not going to be specific enough
Yharim's lore item now says "screams from on high shatter your eardrums"
we interally just call 'em whispers nowadays
they'd probably be fine if they weren't like
one of the only soruces of narrative
again they just kind of stick out
because there's barely anything else
Also yeah changing their name to like
shoulda had more stuff in by now sooner but i got distracted because good oppurtunities showed up to work on my Other Project
ideally most people including myself enjoy being shown and not told but idk how difficult that is to do in a 2d block game
Whispers or something would be a good step in the right direction because calling them ''lore items" make them seem less like someone yapping to you and more so objective lore which if i had to guess plays a part in how many people think yharim is a good guy
which to be fair it's the actually story i've been wanting to tell since before Cal so can you blame me much
I feel you because i'm basically in your situation
I have a personal story i want to genuinely publish one day somehow that i've been working on for a long time but now i'm actively working on a calamity project as the main story writer and don't have as much time for it
which i joking call the fucked up child of madoka magica and chainsaw man
that sounds like the best thing ever actually
with the weapon design of ultrakill
i like draetalk because of the theming and that it makes sense to his character but not yharim whisper items i think you can catch my drift
now that i think about it
though yeah lore has still yet to be implemented
i think my own personal story also fits that criteria.
there's a charcter with a chainsaw axe with a jet engine attacthed to it, where the axe part can detatch and act as a yoyo
but like a really fucked up yoyo of carnage
it's got the grungy vibe of chainsaw man and the protagonist is actually inspired a good amount by denji but it's also doomed yuri with a big focus on love as a motif like madoka magica but the main villain is also a manipulative bastard who's also a pretty lady like makima
but also the protagonist is a doomed yuri who uses guns like homura
i think you made me realize my story fits that exact description also
there's also the autonomous gunscythes
alsoa sketch of another one of the weapons
"what if somebody had four eletrical hookshots at once"
out of the main trio of protagonists including the denji and homura inspired yuri lesbian gay there's also a very non-gender conforming stage magician who's the nicest person in the group and likes his friends and his toys and playing with his friends and then there's a murder robot who's actually a person who had their consciousness transferred to a human body to be used as a soldier in war and also has no human rights currently
this is badass
same
you have no idea how obsessed i am with the fact that my Personally Project Autism is making rela, tangible progress
byeah Yharim
tbh i spent a long time debating where i wanted to take yharim after i got on the writing team
Me too i feel you
but yeah yharim
Tbh i forgot what he was like entirely back on old lore
Like i knew he was like
the main villain
but beyond him being like a tyrant or something i don't think i ever knew why he was evil
Like what did he do
I probably just forgot but i genuinely don't remember why he was seen as evil
cursed calamitas
originally i considered something more Zenos yae Galvus-y and to mebrace the idea of him just being fucking evil but felt like that wasn't enough i could do with that
(somehow)
I feel like he was just kind of generally a Evil Guy but i don't rember what Evil Things he did
(Zenos yae Gavlus is a chaarcter from ff14 before i am asked)
I also have a dude with a pickaxe x railgun x crossbow weapon
Fucked up weapons are so fun
spearhammer
I imagine the weight would be weird
but is it a slashy spear or a pokey spear
Damn !
make it able to do both
i've long held the opinion that a character's weapon should represent a lot about them and (dammit ive started talking about my Other Project again) i use this alot in my other project with the idea of, in a situation where somebody could choose any weapon they wanted, no matter how impractical or stupid it is on paper
what they choose says a lot about them
like for a cal example
Xeroc uses a spear
How did provi looks before she becomes a giant burning rock
Spears are well-regarded as the "most efficent" weapon irl
Or shes always like that
and cna be good for quick hits
fitting for Xeroc, somebody who is very pragmatic and emphisises speed
might see some day
Xeroc's a speed demon damn
anyways i need rest
it's night here
good mornight cei
Xeroc moving in primodial light speed
Xeroc running like mr.krabs
Yeah right lmfao
it's wrong my longsword in monster hunter is the most efficient irl weapon
i see the logic in it
Yeah well I don't, the most effective blade like weapon to me would be the standard longsword. A weapon not everyone can use to its maximum potential without proper training. But a weapon basic enough that people could use it without intense training regardless. And even if you trained you would just become better and better with it. A long blade that had a pointy tip for impaling, and a double edged for slicing and swinging attacks and a handle guard to protect the users hand.
Also I guess the only thing a spear has over it is the idea that it's longer
But that's a polearm I think
But if I were to choose a perfect "weapon" other than the long sword it's for sure the naginata
Which falls under polearm.. but not a spear
close enough
gorp
That's right now let's hunt that Ratholos
Guys lets all not be nice to gorp
Lol
If I didn't wanna be banned and actually didn't care for calamity lore mod I woulda walked in here as if I were sukuna and immediately cause some chaos
Problem is ion got his plot armor 😂
There's gonna be references to metal gear rising in Yharim fight right?
I mean revengance
Not rising
they're not gonna be obvious probably
(also those are the same thing lmao)
:/ lameee
Isn't there multiple games or am I mixing it up with smth else
