1. Astrum Deus is not a God in the "absorbed" an Auric soul sense, but it is worshiped as one. Yharim mentions how it's not a God like the others, and that it's free of taint. Slime God (and all ""Auric"" Gods save Xeroc) is a lot more grounded than Astrum Deus, tied to aspects of Terraria but not what's beyond. In that scenario, Astrum Deus simply represents the beauty, power and mystery of the cosmos, in a way no other character does.
2. We can snip Moon Lord being Cthulhu. The bosses with Cthulhu on their name simply are more visually fitting of great beasts lurking the evils than the remains of an alien threat that looks distinctly unlike them.
3. Well, how would you suggest integrating the World Soul better?
4. Showing is something we intend to do, it's just a much slower process because it often involves world generation, spriting and sometimes altering boss spawning/""death"" - and at least worldgen and spriting are often pretty busy. There's also dialogue, but the current dialogue system is not a good tool for storytelling due to its lack of sequence. Also, what would you say is "unnecessary stuff"?

to me, in the current narrative, astrum deus NOT being a god makes more sense, simply because if he were to be a god, that implies he was a sapient race before ascension which for a space monster, its a bit eh, he would have a domain... in SPACE where the world soul dont exactly.. exist, and yharim would be want em dead, in which astrum deus being alive to this day wouldnt make sense unless you claim he was stronger than yharim, which unless you pull the same move as ML, the player realistically wouldnt be able to beat him, and also he can't really hide or run, because his entire life purpose after being infected IS to protect, you would basically have to rewrite astrum deus as a whole in which point, Why?

okay i slept more bshshshshh here are my responses again
1 - that is fair, but it's name is still an incredible misnomer all the same and i do think it'd be better changed as a result; having one of the two bosses that is actually named a god actually not being one serves as needless complication that muddies the presentation even if there's a foundationally solid reason for it. perhaps mention the name it currently has IN the lore entry as one of it's titles? it'd serve to worldbuild a little without too much effort and it'd make the presentation more clear overall (also, draconic offshoots are very strange in general. i feel like it should be slightly more clear who does and doesn't have an auric soul, perhaps by way of death animation as you said but i acknowledge that'd be a tough thing to do).
2 - the main problem with doing so is moon lord physically just being the big guy; even if you rename him as you've done, it's kinda tricky to disconnect him completely when visually he's so hard to see as anything else.

4 - well, the world soul overall has a lot of places tellings about it could fit; not necessarily descriptions all at once, but inscriptions about its existence in the vernal pass or perhaps upcoming sunken sea changes for instance wouldn't be too tricky, and would contribute a whole lot. in my opinion, different civilizations could see it differently, so getting a concrete answer on what specifically it is would require some thought on the behalf of the player, which would make it much more conceptually interesting overall.

5 - well, i feel like a lot of the stuff directly told to the player by draedon could be integrated much more smoothly into the various labs, but i've mused abut reworking the communicate feature to reduce the density of lore dumps before- for instance, having it a base feature, but having drae cagey initially and only begin to speak properly once he takes a vested interest in your progress- say, by watching you destroy some of his creations, and get closer to fighting with the best war machines he's made so far. i do have issues with how draedon's written in general, he seems incredibly flat rather than layered- i've imitated him a couple of times for calremix (haha) communicate entries, the mindset that came across was simply 'morally gray scientist'; were i to characterize him, i would make him an incredibly physically intelligent sort, but much less so socially - being closed off doesn't help you learn to talk to people, so having it tricky for him to properly formulate his thoughts would sell that a bit and make him more memorable overall. (i know he spoke during the crusade but it reads as though he did so solely for business reasons, never for the purpose of someone wanting to hear him)
with yharim it's a bit trickier, since there's no current way to directly integrate him speaking to the player outside of lore items, but i think a more effective solution would be to not do that; in particular, there are a lot of places torn down by his warpath, and physically showing similarities between them and giving a mental link to the player through some shared factor would be a much more effective way to suggest his great power. npc dialogue is another thing, but as you mentioned, it's hard to work with.
my main concern with the archive is that it'll come out as communicate currently is- paragraphs of lore told directly to the player rather than leaving them some room to think about it. this could potentially be resolved by not just including story directly told,

but rather also including less straightforward sources of information; biased historical recounts are a decent idea (they're what lore items are, in theory this'd be from more than one perspective) but there are others depending on how much variety of story you wanna put in the great library. it'd be a great shot to characterize calamitas a little bit since we don't know much of her (yet).
