yharon is intended to be fought after dog and prov so while it's not always going to be the case for everyone it does make sense for yharon to be harder
Anyways, while I agree the difficulty spike from DoG to Yharon is big, just get good. I suffered to Yharon on Rev as well and eventually beat it, try to actually dodge it or lower the difficulty

they're both the same difficulty to no hit
ease of nohitting is definitely a pretty good marker of whether a boss is easy or not

Polter's "custom" spawn isn't really anything interesting and it's broad af, I would rather see it go in its current iteration than leave it in just because it's "unique"
I personally think that the player should choose when to fight a boss and not have it forced unless the player can meet those different requirements. The polterghast requirement is pretty easy to achieve without much effort which is why I want it removed, or at least changed. 2nd evil boss and levi requires you to kill a tanky enemy, and OD requires you to fully finish an event which are harder to do than others.

That didn't save Crimsaber, which had different projectile behavior and acquisition from Bladetongue (Crafted instead of fished up, projectiles came from the sky instead of the blade). Probably stayed the way it is just because the devs had better things to work on than melee's 4th terra weapon

Why would rogue and melee be the same thing in the first place? Rogue's gameplay, in the stealth variant at least, revolves around slow big bursts of damage while melee is the designated tank and close combat class.
Early days of the mod caused it, reworks focused more on stealth strikes. Melee and rogue used to share certain weapons (boomerangs, mainly, but it also happened with others), but it was removed since the two needed to be more differentiated.
rogue is derived from the throwing class, which in 1.3 was not a removed class (albeit it was an extremely incomplete class)

Of course you could play these 2 in ways that would make them pretty samey with the each other and ranger and mage, but they're really distinct from each other.
Nowadays rogue is far and away from throwing, as it’s done by other mods (thorium), and instead focuses on the stealth mechanic
I understand making stealth and tank different armors. But why not allow tanks to use rouge weapons and stealths use melee. The ROLE are definded by the armor not their weapons

Stealth can't use melee because stealth is a rogue mechanic not melee. Tanks CAN use rogue weapons, its called using warding and defensive accessories.

True melee is an actual thing now in Calamity but barely and is not the dominant melee style, although that does seem to be changing

we already have slimy saddle and sabatons (which no one use) for downward dashes
an upward dash can be done with a hook or just holding space with wings
additionally those aren't necessary for dodging bullet hells
I think the concern is actually more how clunky with a upward and downward dash would be
because it is double tap w or s which is awful

and depend on the cooldown it can have the potential to be completely overpowered, because upward dash practically invalidate all jump speed, and a downward dash is a slimy saddle that don't reduce your flight time to 0
besides, GSD exists
which is the only dash you'll even want to use in a bullet hell anyways
(because from the suggestion although it do mention bullet hell sections, it can also be implied that it is available early like normal dash item, which I think will completely break balance)

the thought process is really simple actually, since boss rush is post exo and scal you should have an altar already placed, so it just teleport you to your scal arena
the only thing that this cannot be done is for WoF unless they added a unique summon method where you sacrifice the doll on a lava altar
they basically have to just like remember your current position, teleport to altar of the accursed during scal and then teleport you back (to original position) after scal, that way you are not at a weird position unable to fight (spawn point etc)

Really? Sorry I thought originally you were being sarcastic; yeah summoner would be a more approachable class if you actually could use weapons strategically.
Maybe like give all summoner weapons a right click that can deal direct damage or even, make certain accessories turn normal weapons into attacks summoners can use.
I use to be a mage only, but when I came across summoner I was hooked, however in calamity you just feel like your doing nothing and it’s just minions fighting, I understand people think that that’s just the role of summoners, but personally I feel calamity is in the position to change that ideology.
I asked about this and I got a response from a user just saying - summoner just let minions do the work, maybe that’s the way normal terraria wants them to be, but calamity could change this.
There are some summoner weapons that have a damage feature, like the post moonlord ceaxless void and the one you make with the blades.
However compared to other classes it needs lie dynamic of gameplay, i whips a whip mod currently, I have heard the option of dev on whips there are very controversial
Maybe summoners can equip an accessory like the profaned crystal that changes demanding on the weapon you use from each class, of course it would have to be weaker and different to make it more unique, but all and all summoners in calamity need a rework, or even just a more dynamic fluid plays style
