personally I find the issue is more on Malice as a mode rather than the concept of locking the drops this way

when they announced malice and i see the tooltip of "making bosses enraged", I have 0 expectation for it to be balance in any form whatsoever, surprise many people argue against it
malice drops are still not balanced on the mode itself
at that point just merge arma's nohit into malice and make the whole thing a nohit

On this boss you cant deal More than a certain amount off damage
There should be a cap to balance out stone skipping (and the scal draedon problem). This would cap your damage at a certain point on first kill. On farming its a different story

Basicly. So add a meter, where the system detects if you have yet to kill a certain boss. Add a cap then to damage, not allowing to go above it. This would balance the exo weapon problem at scal point. (I hate that problem btw)
I have a suspicion that RDR is even kicking in on-tier for malice bosses already which actually just kills damage builds

the issue with this is that its hard to hit things with the blade now, as you have to face them
im thinking about suggesting it be replaced with making all broadswords work like vanilla projectile swords, making the blade swing in the direction of the mouse

A recent update to Calamity changed most broadswords in the game to swing in the direction the player is moving. However, this makes hitting enemies with swords annoying, as you have to constantly switch between running away and toward the enemy.
My suggestion is to make all broadswords swing in the direction of the player's mouse, like how vanilla projectile broadswords work.

which doesn't do anything about the boss, it just becomes way more braindead
I always liked that calamity stay true to the original boss for vanilla boss changes, but I guess if it is bad enough of a fight then a revamp may be necessary
wof is one of those fights that is completely ass already in vanilla, and it's hard to salvage the boss off stat changes
even then many vanilla bosses are given new attacks in cal rev+
it's not that reaching to give wof some and adjust the boss in concept

i think the player shouldnt have to place down acorns to actually grow acid trees when the world gen is unlucky
in some sense you can plant the acorn and then when you done tier 1 acid rain it already grown, but the suggestion if totally fine, just that world gen is hard to work with
thats not that bad to plant them. the problem is that new players might not know acidwood trees even exist
they might not know you can plant stuff here
especially when the biome is themed around being a wasteland
if no trees spawn, they might not know trees even exist and be confused as to what "acidwood" is
ive planted trees themselves, and you get more than enough acidwood for a playthrough out of 5 trees

you need to spend time to get it
through bosses you might not find as interesting
practice some boss is a rather weak point with boss summons being unconsumable
and if you are referring to practicing boss rush bosses, the point still stands
the event in its entirety is optional

boss rush bosses are much stronger tho
the entire idea of the boss rush is fighting all the bosses, whether you want or not

until the day BR has progression relevance, I don't see any point in any function like this

melee needs work anyways. that and summoner (in the form of AI fix and stuff. I hope that one 1.4 summoner rework mod will be compatible with calamity)
even with the addition of true melee damage boosts in calamity, it still doesnt feel like enough.
I think loosening the definition of true melee would be a nice start. for instance, some weapons that create projectiles still behave the same as a melee weapon in that the projectiles do not extend out like a normal ranged projectile. For example, the mushroom spear. These weapons should have like.. a half boost from true melee.
With that, more weapons should also only fire projectiles when hitting an enemy.
another idea would be to make it so that when a true melee user is next to an enemy and hitting said enemy, its projectiles do not spawn for a certain amount of time. We can call this mechanic stun time. basically true melee weapons have stun times. for instance, if i have a stun time of one second, it means that when hitting an enemy, i can continue hitting that enemy for an entire second without projectiles. after the stun time is over, you have some time to get away before it starts firing projectiles again.
so, for enemies like the destroyer, i can attack it with a sword for 1 second without projectiles messing me up. contact damage and such will still exist of course. after the stun time is over, the destroyer will be able to laser again after some time. i can continue to try and push it and keep damaging it, or i can move away immediately. stun time will have a cool down of course, you cant just immediately go back to hitting a boss after yoou go away. this would be an interesting way top allow for true melee users to nohit by staying near the enemy but not too close and predicting movement.

I think an alternative is to implement a mechanic to locks you from switching weapon but in some way grant you massive movement bonus for using true melee weapons

with some extra leeway for what counts as true melee but
i mean im just referencing the fun times i had in ror playing mercenary & loader (the two melee survivors from the game) where theyre all about movement and have some special stuff that lets them stay alive (invincibility frames & extra hp barrier when landing strikes respectively)
