Isn't the Abyss too cramped in the first 3 layers for you to make any significant progress with a Portal Gun?
1 portal on surface, 1 whenever you run out of air, and you can refresh your air and go back down (i dont know much about portal gun mechanics, so if this isnt possible ill delete the sugg)

My idea is to make it more like SsV and Arcanum, longer usetime and more deadlier projectiles that would travel for longer and bounce on walls but have no projectile cap
Similarly how it improved SsV’s use as a main weapon (although worsened the lag) instead of being a pretty shitty side weapon as what pretty much Stratus sphere is
imo stratus sphere needs increased homing range, it feels really hard to cover any meaningful area with it which seems to be its place in the first place

Partly because of the title's phrasing, as if it blanket applied to all mounts, when there are a few mounts which are very powerful
And some were also worried that making mounts too good would create a more rigid meta with fewer options/customization, as opposed to builds centered around mobility accessories

I don’t believe that you should have to fight a Reaper Shark to add their teeth into the crate pool, as it’s a unimportant material used in only a handful of recipes, and it’s only a miniboss.

man, FlamingNoodle is tossing the cosmolite strawman HARD.
Cosmolite and Reaper Teeth are fundamentally different materials, both in lore and in gameplay importance.
Cosmolite is a super-tough space alloy mainly used in DoG's plating, designed to allow it to be extremely durable without sacrificing flexibility.
Reaper Teeth are the teeth of a Reaper Shark, naturally honed to a vorpal edge
Reaper Sharks are living creatures: they live, they die.
DoG is a self proclaimed eater of celestial beings
And even if that wasn't the case, sharks in general grow MASSIVE amounts of teeth, and never really STOP growing teeth
So, they drop teeth in the water to make way for new ones, or when they die, their teeth fall off as their body decomposes.
As such, it's plausible that there are Reaper teeth in the waters of the Abyss.
More likely, lodged in the rock somewhere.
And even then, Reaper Teeth are only used for a few nonvital things in Calamity.
On the other hand, Cosmolite is used in tons of end game gear
Plus, as Fabsol stated, the Abyss is designed so that you DON'T have to dive into it to get that one bit of loot.
People don't like fishing in Terraria.
So, if you REALLY don't want to dive into the abyss, but you also have a massive need for the Abyss' loot, there's another way.
Plus also IMO gating loot behind world generation sounds like a really risky play. What if that piece of loot you needed didn't generate?
I don't think being able to fish up reaper teeth is a massive issue, as it makes biological sense.
Plus, if I want Reaper Teeth, I'd rather have a nice, relaxing fishing trip than go through a poisonous acid ocean and murder some bloodthirsty demon sharks in a place I can hardly breath

I'm one of those people who loves the abyss, because it feels DEEPLY uncomfortable.
I love that it perfectly encapsulates what it tries to be: an oceanic trench filled with real animals for the most part, that feels crushingly empty and yet claustrophobic. You can feel the eyes watching you in the abyss, and I love that horror vibe.
Some people are scared of the oceans and the deep sea, and tbh that’s completely fine. Have you seen some of the freaky shit down there? It’s wack, and you can’t blame people for being terrified.
but I hate fishing with one line even more than I hate the feeling of being watched, a true testament to how much I hate single-line fishing, so I swallow my pride and dive in.
Plus, there are things you can ONLY get from the enemies by killing them

Calamari's Lament as well.
The Reaper Shark weapons, including the eternally broken Deep Sea Dumbell.
You also have to keep in mind the fact that a lot of things drop from Crates. Most of the Post-Aureus weapons, Meld Blobs and Astral Bars, unholy essence and uelibloom bars.
Meld Blobs, I theorize, are mashed up astral and lunar creatures

It's a reward for choosing to fish, and spending your time doing that, and removing them would remove a large part of the benefit from fishing.

There's plenty of rewards available only through combat, and if you wanted to make Reaper Teeth only when you've defeated a Reaper Shark that would be much more reasonable than completely removing them.

because it makes logical sense, and it leans into Fabsol's design philosophy with the Abyss
I meant like, after you've defeated one you can then fish them up. I still think they should as well, but a argument could be made in relation to things like the Astral Crate only dropping post-aureus things after you've defeated Astrum Aureus.
making them be locked in fishing until after you've slain a Reaper Shark just feels like it goes against that.
Now, to be fair, Reaper Teeth are FAR from necessary to beat Calamity

Personally, I just setup a teleporter right next to the abyss with one of the totems that give water breathing/acid immunity, but that suggestion does make entering it easier.

Cosmilite Bars are required to progress the game, Reaper Teeth aren't
Reaper teeth are only used for a pretty good accs and an armor that is only used by nohitters (aka its fucking irrelevant), otherwise they are pretty irrelevant unlike cosmilite
And they are dropped by an optional miniboss rather than a boss required for progress as many times it has been mentioned
The most notable things you're going to get out of reaper teeth is an armor set (which is completely optional and not used by a lot of players) and reaper tooth necklace, and both of those are completely optional and neither of them make the game trivial or anything.
Cosmilite on the other hand are basically given to you due to being dropped by a boss that's required to progress. Cosmilite is used for many important gear and most notably, Draedon's Forge
Maybe have the teeth locked behind having to kill at least 1 shark would be better but that’ll make it inconsistent with Cragnaw mire and Giant Clam among other issues

Pretty much the only relevant things made with the teeth are monsoon and the necklace, the other stuff its either irrelevant or is just bad

I was actually curious if quarterstaff usestyle (take Sky Dragon's Fury and Typhon's Greed) takes melee speed bonuses the same way Broadsword does
essentially the massive sweeping changes like changing vanilla stuff or whatever, is best left to the devs organically, rather than the community
It’s also much more likely to occur, and with more precision, since the devs are actual game designers who generally know what they’re doing, instead of random fans who want to help the mod grow.

- Cannot be crafted or turned into Lunar Fragments or vice versa
- The wings are Pre-ML
- The pickaxe doesn't even have identical stats
