would changing flask of nanites to also inflict electrified or some other electricity debuff be a good idea? since i dont think theres a electricity flask and electicity debuffs seem to be alot less common than the others. Not to mention confusion is useless against bosses making flask of nanites less useful.

crack idea:
Make Confusion be an electricity debuff, and make it deal damage only if the enemy is moving towards the player.
So on enemies where Confusion works normally to cause them to move away from you, it'll just have its normal effect with nothing added. But on enemies whose AI does not account for Confusion so they still move towards the player, the DoT kicks in, which still makes it worth inflicting.

I don’t think those are as egregious as the meteor staff-esque weapons. A lot of them are just a projectile that falls from the sky, sometimes with some dust, an explosion, and/or a debuff. To be clear I’m fine with most of them, that’s why I used the word some in the suggestion title. It’s okay to have one once in a while. However astral staff and star shower, and asteroid staff and lunar flare are just too much in one spot.

is a suggestion about trimming certain sounds down decent? i notice some have a bit of dead air and i think it could be removed in favor of some slight optimization. this is an example. the audible sound ends at around 1.8 sconds, and the remaining ~1.2 are not only hard to hear but most of the time its silent and i think it could be phased out

... Terraria needs a real Rarity system.
Not just denoting what tier the item is on, but denoting how special an item is within its tier.
Something tied to hard numbers of rarity / effort required to get.
That way the testers can say "Okay this is a Rank 3 weapon, it must be 40% stronger than the Rank 1s at this tier" or something like that.
Calamity 1.3 is what I want Terraria to feel like, but it isn't there in the newer version

This is also part of my issue with the draedon tech system, its just weapons. When it comes to technological advancements within sandbox games, the sky is the limit to what can be done with it, but the only thing this system does is add weapons that nobody uses, and summon one boss.

I've personally never pursued Draedon Tech weapons because it always felt too complicated/uninteresting to be worth my time. I agree that buffing them would be an adequate solution.

To add on Cog's previous point, I've always enjoyed when weapons have an alternative ability when right clicked. It enriches gameplay and adds a little more strategy to fights (that I otherwise spend spam-clicking). Perhaps something along those lines, with a kind of charge integration, would be sufficient.
i find that weapons with a right click ability tend to only use either left or right click, but i think that's more of a balance issue
I know discussion in the past have been denied about something that charges things from your inventory, but it could be cool if charge depleted way faster/had a much lower max, and the right click used cells from your inventory to charge it in real time
it would allow all the arsenal weapons to have a uniform right click to charge, (thus not requiring a new attack for every single one) and allow a fun (imo) heavy attack in bursts then charge rotation
It's valuable that the abilities are different enough to justify using them separately. However, I see your point. I think about something like Golden Shower as a right click, where it isn't so much a variety in attack but a support tool.
I'm still not a fan of charging, but i think that would at least make them easier and feel better to use in general

if it would let you use draedon weapons outside of boss fights without having to worry about charging (you'd be punished with lower damage or firerate or whatever but you'd still be able to attack) I'd be down
I dislike the thought of losing a fight because my weapon isn't fully charged.
Then again, preparation is extremely emphasized in Terraria. Ranger ammo and Mage potions already rely so heavily on your memory.

I think that's more so a balance change than anything, but is it just a number change or you want to alter the mechanic in one way or another even further?
Its not altering the mechanic, but it would change how the weapons would be used, going from just standard weapons to burst weapons that you'd use once in a fight due to Charge being depleted at a much faster rate.
...hm, I didn't think about the gameplay changes. It might be better to send it as a suggestion first and, if someone says otherwise, reusing it for the balance report

i just spent like 5 hours trying to get the god damn granite shrine it was horrible

Implement a method to find shrines besides getting lucky
In their current state, the various biome shrines are questions of dedication. They spawn randomly within a specific biome, with only the forest one really being able to be found consistently, with the others being either difficult to find or downright atrocious. The Draedon bio center labs are an apt comparison, as they too spawn randomly within often very large areas, but despite being larger than the shrines (and so easier to find) they have a sure-fire way to locate them in the form of Lab Seeking Mechanisms.
For this unfair discrepancy, a similar mechanic should be implemented to find the shrines. Perhaps there could be an npc that functions similar to a fairy that spawns when you get close to them, or something closer to the seeking mechanisms like a compass to indicate direction only. Regardless of implementation, an item to find shrines would make them and the special items they hold much more accessible in the earlygame, which is when they're intended to be used.
I'm very tired so i assume the quality of writing here is rather low, please critique before i put it in #suggestions-posting
I enjoy the Surface shrine because it's hidden enough but still fairly easy to find.

All of the labs have light sources, but two(?) of the shrines, Granite and Crimson, do not have light sources
Meaning, especially in early game, you could have them on your screen and pass by them without ever knowing, cuz they were simply in the dark
(Snow shrine has a light source but it's dim)
At least I'm pretty sure Granite doesn't have a light source

the inclusion of light sources in the shrine redesigns was a fairly intentional thing to make them easier to find without making it too easy. A suggestion to add light sources to the ones missing them sounds like a great idea to me

Hell, what about notes in the chests of matching biomes that say shit like
"Something special is deep Underground, to the east."
as an example, even if unintended the discovery that roxcalibur spawns WAY more likely on the left side of the world, and more likely to be higher than lower makes finding it literally take like 1/4th of the time it used to. On the one hand I love tricks like this and think they could help a ton without making shrines free, it is also something that isn't exactly communicated to the player and enforces wiki reliance or "knowledge gating" an experience

I think actual natural fairies can lead you to shrines, because they can go to any chest

i was thinking about the seeking mechanisms which are, well, mechanical, and something like that seems like it would be rather out of place for a self-proclaimed "shrine"

I'm currently doing a challenge where i need luxors gift and unstable granite core, and luxors took 2 hours, like 20 deaths, and about half the desert biome to find
that was still only like a third of what the core took, and i fucking cheated at the end because i was at like 5-6 hours and nearly a 3rd of my entire world explored
that's why i want something so that theres a way you can at least find the general area so that you only have to spend like, ten minutes or something mining around for it
i also found the mushroom and ice shrines while looking for granite biomes which was kinda funny
mushroom is a free 50+ gold bc truffle worms sell for a lot
perhaps make multiple spawn in a world so it's more likely for the player to find them

Asking for temporary buffs at all seems really... strange, for mining ores.
Buffs are never used for flavor like that anywhere else in the game, and it'd probably just confuse players or make them wonder what the point is.
I think it'd be better for you to focus on the visual and audio effects, rather than something almost practical like a buff.
Again, Auric Ore would be good to mention, as that has something similar already.

Give Vanilla NPCs "opinions" about Calamity NPCs/Biomes
Calamity adds 5 new NPCs, all of which have preferences for neighbors from among the other NPCs (both modded and vanilla). However, all of the vanilla NPCs lack happiness preferences for the modded NPCs they have as neighbors, as well as for the new biomes. Adding those preferences would make the modded content feel better integrated into the game and lead to more interesting housing decisions, as well as serving as a way to deliver lore.

I was using the Photoviscerator on SCal and noticed that the right click ability was having a lot of trouble dealing damage to her during her mobile and brother phases, because the exo flares were unable to follow their targets through blocks, which is strange because the weapon is directly intended to be used on this boss and shouldn't be having issues hitting her when the player is using the weapon as intended, So instead of buffing the right click, although i do believe that it could use a buff, its not completely needed. What i suggest to do is to allow the homing exo fares fired from the right click to be able to pass through blocks when attached to enemies because at the moment when they are attached to something and it passes through blocks they just fall of their target and are unable to deal damage making the player miss out on valuable damage. alternatively making them work how they used to where they went through blocks all of the time could work, since im pretty sure there are plans to move away from the current tiles boarder and replace it for a projectile one, i dont really see much point of the bounce ability of the flares

Dune Splicer is considered to be the Hardmode variant of the Tomb Crawler, so there's no reason for the former to not drop Burnt Sienna. Additionally, this would make obtaining the weapon for later stages of the game much easier.

Implement a way to destroy Giant Plantera Bulbs in prehardmode
The Vernal Pass is a structure that spawns in the underground jungle and features a block called Vernal Soil, which features the unique property of growing Giant Plantera Bulbs.
The Vernal Pass is intended to be used as a convenient Plantera arena, however many players often also use it for a Queen Bee arena, but when doing this the Giant Bulbs get in the way of construction. The structure clearly had a lot of effort put into its design, so for it to only see use against two bosses (as people often also use it for Plaguebringer Goliath) when it could so very easily see use against three (across two whole segments of the game) would be a shame. For this, a way to destroy bulbs (without spawning Plantera; or with, wink wink) would be a worthwhile addition, as well as basic quality of life for those preparing the arena in hardmode (as you are forced to spawn in Plantera every time you want to remove a bulb).

the way i see it, is if i want to get people to actually think about the problem I'm presenting is i first have to explain what it is and why it's something that should be changed, then how my proposal fixes the issue and then a little blurb about more lenient implementation which doesn't really matter that much but helps to hopefully broaden the scope of possible solutions and increase the likelihood of implementation or for someone else to come up with a better idea

I'd've thought you'd talk about how the ice or desert villages, if you have them set up for a pylon system, are almost always overtaken and retaken if you try to cleanse them
My only gripe with the spread is that I'm an average pylon enjoyer and the evil biome fucks that up quite a bit in hardmode
I'd be willing to bet the average terraria player doesn't know that killing plantera halves the spread speed, so the bit about it being easy to control in phm and annoying in hardmode was to build to that, which in turn lends credence to the proposal
