Since its the class’ mechanic
It's like reworking stealth or minion slots
Stealth might be a bad example because that got reworked at some point, I think, but the idea's there
Or is planned to be reworked, I don't know
If it's neither then just ignore me
I'm not saying those things can't be reworked, i am saying suggesting them to be reworked would probably be considered a big scale rework
Oh, sorry. I must have interpreted it incorrectly
I always thought that don't was based on the amount of stuff you'd have to change. In the case of the don't example, adding a blocking mechanic to every sword would be a very long and tedious process.
Well, if we did what the sugg does mage would need to be rebalanced in its entirety
Not really, only charge up weapons and the Chaos Stone, unless I'm missing something
You are 100% missing a lot
I think if the dev who understands how the code works is saying it's going to be difficult, then it's probably going to be difficult
it might not be difficult to code even, it just requires a lot of testing and balancing which is thus time consuming.
Butterfly effect
Just hire @frosty trellis
lmao
Yea sure you could idk give the player an extra minion slot but then the game goes to shit
I'm sure he'd enjoy it
"hire" as if they get paid
He already helps a lot on the thread
I mean like for beta testing
We’ll see
Hiring new peeps for dev teams is something that should be taken into heavy consideration
Not just something to decide on the spot
I was mainly joking
I do think he'd like it tho
Hard to tell over text on a screen, sorry
100%
more people????
Well, Shade, if it's too large-scale for a sugg, think you could at least bring it up with the other devs? If not I understand
Well damn but fair enough
I already have kept the suggestion in mind, as the mage guy™️
As Shade mentioned, it would take a lot of balancing
Pretty much the entire class
Maybe we can, at some point, restructure Mage and change a lot of stuff at the same time
Ideally, in a very big update that would naturally take very long
i bet someone out there, reading this, will think "omg why cant they just do it rn its not that big of a deal, people dont like mage anyway"
add more bosses xd
Really weird Mana Sickness suggestion
Weird indeed and just really isn't strong enough or considers enough
Ok, not gonna post this in sugg posting cause it's another idea for a mage rework (more radical and has more conflicts), but what if we reworked mana itself? Each magic weapon could have a certain amount of "charge", after which you'd have to retire it for a bit and use a different weapon. Instead of weapons consuming mana, you could "assign" mana to a weapon, and you'd need to for it to charge. More mana, more assigned weapons. Weapons could be balanced by assignment cost as well as by DPS, with better weapons requiring you to assign more mana to them. Again, I don't really consider this idea to be genuinely be considered, it's even more work, might not even be possible, just throwing it out there cause why not
just rework the entire class lul
So we playin' thorium now
That's what this is
I think this is how Dark Souls 1 & 2 worked
huh
I've never played a souls game or Thorium
Nah this is nothing like Inspiration, at least since the last time I played
Inspiration is just mana 2
^
Mana but you can't ruin it by chugging potions?
How do you balance that
i dont remember what mod it is but it has weapons that act kinda like this
Inspo regenerates extremely quickly
If you aren't moving
If you move it doesn't and can be a bit annoying until like mid hardmode
That's, mana
i think its Enigma that has a special type of class with 3 different mana things that each impact how the weapon functions
Cal devs have 200 IQ, they'll find a way
but ye i dont think a full class rework would happen for a while if it happens period
Bro do you have any idea how much of a nightmare Ark alone is to balance?
mage do needs some work doe
It's a joke
(AotC is broken as fucking shit without parries rn)
(It's the best melee weapon for SCal first rn)
Better than Post-Exos stuff or just better than Post-Yharon stuff?
"scal first"
It's stronger than Photon Ripper and Exoblade, not sure about spine
no that's illegal
AotC is the strongest melee weapon to fight SCal first with
As in, fighting SCal pre Exos
For Gaels or Violence depending on the difficulty
That's what I thought you meant, was just checking, since from what I know 90% of the playerbase (myself included) does Exos first
Yeah
I think Spine is still hilariously op and better than AotC but AotC is ridiculous
most of the time it's better to do exos first but melee is an exception (death mode tho)
They buffed it.... When it was already broken for Exos and fine for SCal
But uh yeah point is
Your mana sickness suggestion in posting needs more reasoning to it
You don't even really say what the problem is, aside from the class "getting memed" (which, I don't know what that entails)
And I don't see how your solutions would fix the apparent issue of, magic users needing to stop firing ever? How would forcing users to use mana regen builds fix things (by introducing a harsh cooldown on mana potions when mana drains way faster then health), especially when you consider mana regen builds to be part of the problem too apparently?
i do exos first because i actually know what to use for exos first
i have no idea what to use for scal first or if its even worth it the way i play
Not really no
Mage wants SCal first for Gruesome Eminence, the Deleter of Exo Twins
Ah yeah that works
To be fair, it's ok for a post-Exos weapon to be OP on exos
AoTc is pre
Melee goes either way
Ranger is Exos
Rogue goes either way bc Wrathwing Stealth is busted
Summoner goes Exos since Pole Warper destroys them and then Ripper + Exoskeleton annihilates SCal
I would try and improve that, but apparently it's too large scale so I'll just remove it
ok
I think MPG meant spine there
mana is wacky and theres no ideal way to completely fix it
No I said AotC
You were also talking about spine
They buffed AotC from 1670 -> 1770 in 2.0.2
Spine is for SCal
Probably better than AotC
For SCal
AotC is fucking bonkers on Exos
AotC was already sub 5 minute Exos in the previous update without parries and was 4:4x SCal
So it was fine
And then buffed
I was the one who figured out that parrying with AotC and AotE was actually completely worthless and either slowed the kt down or was a marginal improvement at best because of the snap giving 2 Parry charges
It's time to once again take a step back and realize that Terraria isn't.. League Of Legends
The mana system isn't finely balanced and purposeful cuz it was really never meant to be
mfw not every single weapon in existence is perfectly balanced against every other weapon
(there are 600 of them this is an impossible task)
thats just melee class
It's far more than that
yeah probably
They just buffed an already broken weapon
seriously why the fuck does melee have so many weapons
For no reason
fabsol likes melee
swords are the easiest to program
indeed
(insert people being mad about funny hermit crabs getting stuck)
throwback to that one time i looked through almost every melee weapon to see if one had an older sprite than yharon
btw
Your Warn has been elevated to a Time Out because of how many channels you spammed your video in. Do not do that. Thank you.
ok got that out of the way before I forgot
fair
make weapons consume no mana
fable 2 style
It's a lump you get in the inside of your eyelid iirc
(it is one of the worst mana implementations ever)
that reminds me of hit game binding of isaac and how it inspired one of the funniest mechanics in the calamity mod
unbalance?
yes
but also rdr bc I'm pretty sure it was a bad mechanic but I don't think even einstein or stephen hawking would confidently say anything about rdr
bc they're dead
but dont worry
RDR and TDR were probably the two worst ideas conceived in the mod.
they should implement gacha
and malice mode is a close third
Just make weapons deal no damage, have bosses health drain at a constant rate
that fixes all issues actually
big brain idea
(that was the gist of the mechanics)
TDR artificially making fights longer was just.....why
Timed Aggression "You're taking too long!"
Reactive DR "You're going too fast!"
i remember having a concept like this after i heard someone (dont remember who) who really liked long bossfights
i love adding a half assed mechanic that is a reference to a popular game at the time
plus this would let all bosses have their attacks synced to the music\
so turn the mod into a rhythm game
strongest music fan vs weakest blow your ears out pulse pistol enjoyer
Omg Isaac. Real???
it is
Broken as hell
afaik the only boss that still has it is night prov
Why the fuck
Me when I am 4 blocks talk (i am completely unable to use normal doors
what its like to be tall irl
@limpid forum Why?
yeah just why
why would i need to be an extra block taller
why would i need to be unable to use most doors
I assume the entire reasoning is just "It'd be funny"
make the character 1 block wide and tall instead
Being able to become smaller has benefits
cool build potential, some exploration potential, smaller hitbox
And Thorium already has stuff for that, transformations
But taller is just
It's a downside, it's the kind of thing that would come with some big buff in some other area to make up for the fact that you're now a fat oaf who can't fit through doorways
And bigger hitbox
Yeah, if there isn't an obvious upside to balance out the hitbox increase, then it's kinda pointless
blood pact makes you bigger
Make it like how Rounds did it
The more health you have the bigger you get
would you get smaller as you get hit or max-hp?
(we gotta make camper not the worst accessory somehow)
new Cirrus drink
+50% damage
You are now 10 blocks tall.
Taller would be funny for like a random gimmick item that makes you quite significant
the Boss Drink
you are now a boss
this is not a good thing
Max Hp is how rounds does it, but it would essentially be an accessory that gets worse throughout the game
Reverse community
npc players spawn and attack you with tier-accurate gear
actually fuck it just make odd mushroom make you 50% bigger too just for the lols
mario refernece
i didnt even think of that
i just thought "hey this is a funny accessory lets make it funnier"
matter modulate yourself and become the size of the screen
i was thinking along the lines of a vanity or tank accessory, maybe dropped by paladins. why? because its awesome. what tank player doesn't aspire to become a nigh-vunerable holy knight.
and yes, you can fit through some doors
.
Something tells me it's going to take a long time and a lot of explaining to get this suggestion into a valid state
I don't know if it's worth it
A reasoning "It would be cool" is not a valid one
And it never will be, no matter what you do or how you look at it
¯_(ツ)_/¯
alright then
adds "paladin buff"- increases player size, decreases movement, decreases regeneration to 0, increases immunity to various debuffs, increases armour by a %
oh boy
Yeah we have a Don't Doc in the pins which is essentially What Not To Do, would be helpful to give a glance
please read the rules in the pins
You dont try to justify a change by adding arbitrary addition to make it happen
You justify it by using reasons that are already in the game
Like why should we have ways to increase player size in the first place? What benefit does it bring?
Beside "an item that increase defense but also player size" which is not in the game yet
we already have this kinda anyway? flamesteed mech increases your size in exchange for massive power boosts
sorry lads
lmao
ghost sugg moment?
Yeah, concerningly it got past our whitelist filter
If it happens again we may need to make some changes
oh shit
man they really need to fix fairy boots
i guess i should probably make a bug report about this instead but it'd be nice if we could get the fairies to not block the cursor too

We are not the same
i figured
me when we stop getting ammo because we don't need new ammo
ammo should be removed
Suggestion: "Add Post-Yharon, Post-Exo and Post-Scal and Shadowspec Bar Accessories Upgrades"
Reason: 'plez give me upgrades, how tf do you play this game without getting upgrades every bosses, it just feel shitty that upgrades stop at DoG and you get nothing for these bosses eh mi gud'
dradeons heart
Literally
Accessories upgrades are half the reason dog is considered a major boss ngl
we should nuke most upgrades
Especially upgrade lines
It’s a lazy justification to milk unique weapons into the ground
So true
"this would make the progression of terra blade more straightforward"
just say you have the hots over indefinitely upgraded weapons
which still isn't a valid reasoning
(if you can call that reasoning to begin with)
@vernal moat suggesting zenith to use calamity sword is actually one of the don't
oh
and this change will, in fact, be even more confusing
because zenith use terra blade visual in its swing animation, and terratomere is now basically a downgrade exoblade (because of its new rework)
understandable, but having to craft two terra blades tho...
you can just suggest terratomere to not use terra blade or something
which will not violate any suggestion rule (though you still need to give reasons)
it has terra in its name tho
Suggest Zenith to not use Terra Blade
@jagged crane your suggestion is literally just a single line. No reasoning, not properly written, also it's one of the suggestions you can't suggest
Actually make a good fleshed out sugg
oh ok
We will have a subworld in the future for DoG
Yes
ah yeah, lets just remove a core aspect of ranger for no reason
we should remove ammo from ranger and make mage use resources like blood rune
yeah this is explicitly deemed something you shouldn’t suggest by the don’ts doc
@jagged crane I see your name lives up to your behavior. Please read the Suggestions Don'ts doc in the top of the channel
SO TRUE!
laoo
amazing suggestion
great new suggestions. so calamity devs, whens the new class done? I hope I dont have to wait for more than 2 weeks
new class added
updates delayed by one year each
it would be funny
remove mana too
just remove the ability to deal damage at that point
BIOME BLADE CLASSS
A class that has like one Biome Blade type weapon per tier, or even per two tiers, and nothing else
might be fine actually
as its own modded class
cuz BB is basically multiple weapons in one anyhow
Not for Calamity though of course
technically mystic enigma, has you cycle through 3 dif uses for every weapon
no combo fanciness or anything but it does make all weapons 3
and while i say no combo fanciness they are worked in a way youll be cycling through them constantly so
What happened there?
(@random talon I spotted that, and while I think that would be a very unpopular suggestion, I think you might actually be on the right track)
(in short: based.)
I deleted it bc I'm trying to go into more detail rn
I pressed Enter instead of Shift-Enter
👍understood
👍
The examples were put that way by calamity for a reason tbh
Ahem
Terraprisma isn't even a "grind" item, it was taken out of the funny nohit because it's stupid to lock something behind it
The Slime Staff literally works for early game and early game only, by the point you have Zerg Potions it is completely obsolete, it needs a creating recipe
Crystal Hearts are easily obtainable no matter where you look for them, and I doubt people even use the crafting recipe
Bad examples
RoD is the only acceptable one, but being one of the most important items in the game, it being obtainable through mindless grind and low chances isn't good
Also when you only listed 4 is that cus you only wanted these changes in the game?
Frankly thats kinda cal’s fault for expecting you to have RoD in the first place
- is not really a grind, it is a deliberate attempt to remove a "challenge drop" because of the daytime empress nohit thing
(I know cal nerfed daytime empress but at the sametime it is not really drastically better than other drops now to warrant the extra challenge it give)
-
I disagree with mainly because if you need zerg potion to farm slime staff it is WAY too late, zerg is post Slime God; slime staff become obsolete after like your first boss; that is the main reason why the crafting is added is so that it is actually usable
-
sure why not, rewards exploration and really the 1.4 world gen is pretty generous on life crystal now
-
depends, if they remove the buying they have to add an alternative method
Byeah @random talon
but yeah, as stated above you really used some of the worst example to "reintroduce grinding"
It doesn't. Infact, I have beaten the game in Death easily without even using it once
can we PLEASE stop posting HORRIBLE suggestions
But it's still a important item because of the sheer mobility it offers
Yes, but no
Crazy day for suggs posting
No boss is tested with rod
Yeah
rod can make it easier but it is by no means required
Im not saying its required
Anywyays I do like the heart crystal recipe idea
And honestly Slime Staff? Like
This one
Bro that shit is already useless past Pre Boss
Prolly needs a heading
Me omw to make the obscure weapon even more obscure because "grinding"
Bro if you go an entire pt without a Blood Moon 💀
Ah
I am surprise they havent just throw bloody tear into like crimson shrine chest
Its already been sugged
It's actually common
rng is fucked
i just went until cultist without getting a single natural blood moon
I got it on my 3rd night this pt
Byeah I wouldn't mind a way of getting them
Strange
fortunately fargo mutant
Without needing a Blood Moon
yeah at least mutant mod exists so i could get blood orang
At last, we have broken the cycle
So many people play with QoL
No more God awful suggs
That there are easy ways to get em
Avert your gaze
LOOK AWAY
👁️
Byeah @maiden plume
calamity player hypnosis
What the fuck...
this suggestion is like that rover quote but the opposite
Is it implemented?
amazing
i like the grind suggestion

Not yet, but yeah
takes away from nonstop bosses
Still, not needed to delete your sugg
no, but that one means a previous suggestion of the same idea had been passed
Oh alright
Well that's a relief
simply don't rush bosses.........
I mean tbf neither the proposal or the current situation are good to me
Minimaxx
Too bad all of those options are terrible
blame cal for adding way too much
still, they really can just throw bloody tear into the evil shrine of the world and be done with it
me when I tell people that the game has other features
which is a surprise they havent done it yet (probably just forgor)
Huh
simply ignore them
what, do you want me to blame boss checklist now?
and do what exactly? i cant build, and fishing doesnt give a worthwhile reward
because everyone and their mother downloaded it
auric golfing.....
TRUE
@ devs please make golf balls interact with auric ore
remind yourself that the idea of post ml is fabrication and it is still part of hardmode (the boss rush part of the game isnt real it isnt real it isnt real)
The game becoming a boss rush isn’t an issue of player choice, its a design flaw
exploration largely died along with wof
Exactly
since the game's initial scope was just phm
that is why i gaslight myself
I think I accidentally started a war 😐
nah this is average Tuesday
the main reason for exploring in hardmode is literally just to find the astral and evil strips
^
darn it discord keeps turning my emoticons into emojis
what week huh!
(for reintroducing grinding you really can use a lot better examples)
captain it's sunday
I can certainly choose to avoid making the game a boss rush, and i do but that doesn’t mean there isnt issues with the game’s and mod’s design
a lot of examples in the sugg are to bring back the "surprise" or "wow factor" of things
when that will wear down fairly quickly no matter what you do anyways
eventually you'll be good enough that Terraprisma is just another Sunday
sorry guys
bring back old post ml recipes
100 endothermic energy and nightmare fuel scal altar
300 auric ore
Using every single Post ML crafting material for Auric Bars
Oh god they were terrible
pre auric ore recipes were messed up

@random talon your suggestion has no reasoning which is why it got ❗ , furthermore do you even think you’re going to get past #suggestions-voting asking for that?
should I just suggest this?
I think the 4 points are relatively divisive
since it was passed before but I didnt realise it is September of 2022 not November of 2022
nvm
life crystals require ruby
idk about you but i barely get more than 20 ruby per pt
if you are searching for it you will find a lot
dig to lava level and that is where ruby and diamond spawn (a lot)
uhm ok how did i not know this
vanilla ore armours had recipe changes
made cheaper for some reason
also the whole terraprisma being unnerfed?
no
The rest of the points are fair, but a weapons power level being balanced by it's difficulty to get is a bad concept. It part of the reason why legendary drops were removed and why halibut cannon was changed.
Prisma was nerfed because it was overpowered, not because it was easier to get now
i do agree that some recipes could be tweaked
that's so normal that's such a normal thing for a weapon to do
"but I nohitted Empress of Light, I should be rewarded accordingly"
When you get there you’ll likely have found several crystals lol
technically it is GRINDIER now
because if you fight daytime eol theres a chance that terraprisma wont drop
so youll have to do it again
it does
technically you can use wulfrum turtle and dig straight down but yeah
you can get 2 terraprisma from dayemp
crystal planetoids
Even then, wouldn’t you find at least some?
wait it has a guaranteed drop if it's daytime?
heart crystal's recipe was only useful for heart lanterns anyway lul
also ye it does
oh ok
Theres less now
maybe like 3-4? depend on your luck
if you dig through stones instead of tunnels or mineshaft you might find surprisingly little
What was the reasoning for the planetoids nerf
Probably a vanilla hardcoding moment
the solution is to go look for more
either way even if you are lucky and found like 6 the moment you get there, ruby easily fill you to 15
planetoids nerf is pretty self explanatory when you think about it
yeah they kinda
trivializes early game tbh. for the egregious price of 1 grav pot you skip preBoss basically
make ore/gem exploration redundant
"you can get 360 platinum ore from a single grass one, that's enough to get everything meta immediately"
Decentivised exploration, trivialized early game, less stuff to clear for arenas, also adds more space (no pun intended) for stuff to spawn there like Luminite Planetoids
"wait that's broken"
I thought it was they made it be the intended way to do early game
my hardcore start strat was literally get ropes day 1, get hand warmer (previous dmode environmental) and try to luck a ruby planetoid yeah
starfury, esword, full plat, fledgling wings
yeah
And pots
wait is it ore or gem planetoid that is removed? or bothh
high tier ore I mean
Neither, they dont have high tier ores and gems anymore
ores down to lead
we can put aeriaite in them
(or palladium if you're worthy)
pre-boss ravager is dead
Hmm yes, today I will get stormfront razor pre-boss and destroy ravager
Me when shimmer blacklist
shrimply not real
wtf fun hater.....
all furniture losing their cell canisters and psc losing its recipe :trol
ok I will just dump this suggestion before I forgot it exist, still waiting for Dmode blood moon spawn rate nerf that will never gonna happen so my as well post it
im very sad for jonas because no one else has spoke up against the idiocy that is wizard rod
rod is such rod
he has a point though
make it so entering Hardmode generate a hallow shrine with ROD in it
if someone wants to grind less they'll just get a grind reducing mod
HE DOES he just chose all the wrong examples
I am sure everyone loves testing world gen changes
if someone likes grinding then He'll just have to ignore the 40 easier routes
which gets kind of Eh
The Calamity Mod If I
Also NR
i dont
legitimately should be removed
however people do
Wait you shouldn't use rod in testing?
nr isnt even really the problem after all
and people will use whatever qol to get it
i feel like if someone want to get rod more easily they should just download a mod that addresses that
it's rod being RoD
more like "rod isnt considered in testing"
Same as Rippers
i dont think it should be calamity that changes that
You don't use Rippers during test
eg: providence will not do a 360 degree 2 beam sweep that you can only dodge using rod
i think wizard rod is stupid because it makes rod so easy to get you just Always Get It
I have a hotbar of RoDs tho
qol is the dividing line between vanilla and modded balance
Yeah no I dodge those
wrath and rage pots for example
like it makes RoD this Essential Thing You WILL get Every Single Playthrough
and i think thats stupid
it's actually insanely stupid that in modded you can just
Me, with my very funny Old Lord Claymore:
get both handed on a silver platter but it's how it is
specially because it should be an exploration tool first and foremost anyways
teleporters are better anyways
not just 1 of the 2 potions, you outright get both
does calamity still nerf it comically even outisde bossfights
just readd the fishing crafting recipe I am sure everyone will love it
i honestly preferred the fishing route for it
Yeah
rod and evil exclusivity generally does not exist in modded
people shouldnt be forced to take the easy route though
especially with something like life crystals

and you either have to live with balance itself being prone to breaking to trivial levels or otherwise
and like everything else
Zad
embrace nerfed qol
you can ignore the easy route but the game gets a bit worse if you do that
slightly controversial but like
think about how much of this is somewhat self generated
Very funny weapon
use coins from money trough suggestion no.N because people don't want to lose money on death
coin gun somehow remains the only item that is never folded to the devils of qol
in any conventional mod
do terraria qol mods even count as qol
No one really cares about it
It's like, the weapon that needs way too much shit to use properly
that is generally what the community defines qol as
glorified reduced grinding and increased item accessibility
Grinding shouldn't exist anyways so
i'd define qol as saving time from things like cutscenes and such
that is wrong
I don't want to spend one hour trying to get a cool item
there should be a balance about grinding
but what if you could spend 5 hours trying to get an aglet
5 whole distinct big genres
obviously grinding 3 years for 1 thing is annoying
but grinding 0 seconds the entire game is terrible game design
mmos exist
rps in general exist
And when did I fucking say they were good?
you cant just say "shouldnt exit actually"
tmod fans cant imagine their favorite items being hard to get
ok let me rephrase it: can you not be fucking stupid and not generalize away with a statement like 5 whole distinct game genres just because you personally do not like them
And to me there is a very clear difference between "farming" and "grinding"
grinding is an integral part of the game
twentytwentyfour
One is just "yeah do this thing for a bit and you get your reward"
The other is "spend two days to get a part of what you need"
It's just gonna be a boss rush at that point
I always had it
to most people ive talked to farming and grinding are synonyms
Well, not to me
whether it takes 5 minutes or 5 days theres no difference in wording
that is fair
I don't mind if I like
thats only for like, a select few items in the game
please do consider that we did not mean grinding 8 hours for 1 thing though
Yeah, I know
most of which are not that strong
I do think shit like Potions should just be more avaliable anyways because fishing and planting is ass
fishing is relaxing
"Haha wait for a Blood Moon for your deathweed"
its almost like we could just make fishing and planting better
personally i prefer vanilla potions making
bit i can never for the life of me understand plants
qol potions make me die
having 30 potions and having that buff forever makes no sense to me
it trivializes literally the entire game
Respectfully, my ass
"it takes time and effort" yes and it is ultimately a better experience for the player and more rewarding for everyone this is how a lot of thiings work
I don't want to waste half an hour clicking one button gambling to get an item
you gotta have a different mindset when fishing
that too
i mostly fish for 10 minutes or so
What mindset? I don't like fishing because I could be just doing a billion other stuff that are way more engaging than clicking a singular button
and i have enough <fish> for enough <potion that requires said fish>
for a long time
you'll usually get soemthing wothwhile in at most 30 minutes
I could be mining, fighting an event, fighting an Boss, exploring, building, fucking golfing
when i fish for weapons or accessories its almost instant
I'm not going to spend my Terraria time fishing
That is fair
Can i already say this discussion is going nowhere or do yall choose to go on
but then again you cant put a feature that kills fishing in a mod like calamity
that should be a different mod
but you shouldnt undermine fishing just because it isnt the greatest thing to do in terraria
anyways
idk i like it
that's fair but i personally dont understand it
and with planting you are literally doing nothing while waitibg for something to bloom
i mostly just setup my farm very close to my main base
so everytime i gothere i can see if any plant has grown
and harvest it
i dont pay much attention to it
but seeing the plants chest filled with stuff is pretty rewarding
we should go back in time when qol didnt exist
Shrimply don't play with QoL
yea
Sorry for a somewhat late reply, but I'd honestly do this if I had any idea how to make a mod
i find qol-less gameplay more fun
i got rod rather quickly after setting up my hallowed grinding farm, but much like how NPCs sell food now, i don't exactly enjoy having to sit in the thing for hours just to get exq stuffed to try and actually have a chance fighting GFB duke fishron (who i still have to basically nohit because numbers funny)
even if rod is just an exploration too
i mean
mechanic's shed was added literally this update
and i love it
like Perhaps QoL Isn't Actually A Bad Thing
out of all the dumb stuff cal does, making rod easier to get is one of the least
I just saw the suggestion to un nerf prisma
lol
I get the reasoning for like.. RoD
And Heart Crystals
but slime staff and Prisma especially are ???
(although if RoD is not buyable it DOES need a better way of obtaining than vanilla)
Agreed, but what would it be?
A crafting recipe would be as boring and as much of a bandaid fix as purchasing it
Increasing the drop rate would be a volatile fix, as it could lead to massive yields of farms
more grind for the sake of more grind makes no sense
Removing or nerfing heart crystal recipe is the one with the most sense, as that encourages exploration
I hope that eventually it gets out of the shop, but right now there really isn't a solution
yeah
Also, just my two cents on the rest of the suggestion:
- Terraprisma should be un-nerfed & drop from Daytime EoL. As it stands right now, fighting Daytime EoL has no purpose and Terraprisma has no uniqueness anymore.
Not only is this requesting a reversion, but it is essentially asking for Malice challenge drops again
- Make the Slime Staff uncraftable/make its recipe harder. We have Zerg potions + easy Luck potions via Blood Orbs/infinite King Slime summoning to make getting the staff easier. Nothing is more depressing (to me at least) than getting a natural Slime Staff and remembering "that's not very special. I can just craft it with barely any effort."
Making the recipe harder would defeat the entire point of it being an early game summon, and Zerg Potions are only available after Skeletron. By the time you'd be able to reliably farm it, you'd have much better summons and equipment.
- Make Heart Crystals harder to craft. I don't think craftable Heart Crystals on their own is bad. My issue comes from how easy it is to craft them. Perhaps they could require Blood Orbs or Demonite to not trivialize caving?
This one I can somewhat understand, as the Life Crystals have an "Oh cool, I found a rare gem" vibe that I like, but it's hard to change the recipe too much without invalidating it entirely.
Exactly!
Like, there's Belladonna Spirit Staff, Sun God Staff, Frost Blossom Staff, Wulfrum Controller, the list goes on!
yeah
Also un-nerfing Prisma no matter how hard it is to get is a terrible idea
it was viable on yharon before iirc
it's much better to have it be easier to get and not invalidate other weapons for a third of your playthrough
Are you serious?
that's what I was told
rod is now a 10% drop from queen slime
That is absolutely not ok, if that was the case
terra was scal viable along with kaleido
SCal, arguably
very funny stuff
yea
surprised no one mentioned the latest sugg
very based idea
The blood orb one, or the glass one?
glass
xpc posted the blood orb one like yesterday
tho that one is also good
we need more building rep tho fr fr
As someone once said here, if your suggestion gains no feedback in #suggestions-discussion, it's a good suggestion
disappointed we're never gonna get iban's perennial builder support reworks but maybe we'll get something close dunno
Or something like that
very true
wait what
Iban had plans to turn Perennial into a full builder's set
as in the weapons and tools and such
As sort of a Hardmode version of Marnite
like a spiritual upgrade to wulf scaffolding n such
im not sure about that but i knew he wanted to make some p unique perennial tools at the least
which won't happen anymore but maybe we could get something similar idk lul
oh upgrade reaver explore to also do building
Would be so cool
Would've been nice, yeah
Reaver armor is honestly one of the coolest and most interesting sets rn
would fit it to have building gear
And it's only because its sole purpose is not for combat
I mean, two armors are combat armors
Like, these are the three set bonuses
but they're not just give damage stats
they're specialized focus on tank, mobility, or exploration and they're all GOOD at their jobs
Mobility's 33% less dash cooldown and better hook speed is so good
I think it would be cool if we got more armors like that, where the sole focus isn't to be good at combat, but they can help with it
Kinda like Crystal Assassin armor, where it gives meh boosts, but gives a dash
Crystal Assassin armor is a very unfortunate multiclass armor
it could and imo should get some kind of rework/change
as it is now it is weaker than cobalt/palladium for melee/ranger/mage
and doesn't have any special multiclass quirks like GemTech does
assassin needs buffs yes
it's just not worth it
give it scarf dodge effect or something
then it has a niche
rn it's dash is just... not worth losing ram/dodge despite the length
The only time I have ever seen it be used was in a challenge playthrough where someone wasn't using anything that had the letter E
Challenge playthroughs of course are never considered for these things, but I just thought I'd bring it up
lol
Doesn’t Ram come first before dodge
In terms of progression
oh
Cuz I don’t remember there being a dodge dash early Hm
but anyway
giving crystal assassin scarf dodge would make it actually usable for stuff
Since by wearing it rn you always lose ram/dodge in exchange for longer dash and worse damage and defense than ore armors
Maybe with a slightly lower cooldown? Or would that just rend the fabric of balancing asunder
The ore buffs have caused a catastrophe for other armors
(Ninja armor is so bad now)
(It has always been God awful)
Ninja was never worth it
The wood armors aren't even good as a "I'll get this until I have better armor" armor
I see you have this saved
nah just being a very long scarf dodge without using an accessory would be plenty
Mm. ok
leaning into the multiclass idea would be a cool idea as well
I love how they incentivized weapon switching with GemTech
maybe crystal assassin can be used to craft gemtech
We'd have to get the permission of the donor, but that could happen
ah true that
I don't think it's as big of a deal to change the recipe rather than the function, and Lilac is on the Dev team so they shouldn't be hard to contact, but it is something to keep in mind.
Aren't we not supposed to suggest recipe changes to donor items?
we can suggest them as long as the donor is fine with it
or i think the permission thing ends if the donor/dedicatee leaves the community (may be wrong with this, feel free to correct)
they already said they aren't gonna give them anything. i even just asked for them to be turned into farming support sets and that got rejected
also you can DM Rover for the deets about any donor you wanna contact if you want to ask for an item to get changed
still waiting on the devil's sunrise rework tho
I wasn't suggesting they got changed, as I remember your suggestion about changing them getting rejected
I was more using them as a comparison to the ore armors, but I see it was a bit ineffective
also ninja should at least be on par with victide
people keep saying the 9% crit and 20% ms makes it worth it but that just
is not true at all
lmao
Considering it's after a boss as well, it should be a bit closer in stats, yeah
it is not bc MS kinda sucks
@charred gate You don't need to give it a name.
would the name bump it into SIS territory or am i incorrect with that line of thought
technically does yes
Yeah, giving something its own name, especially presented at the start of a sugg like that, is a very distinct symptom of SIS
The rest of the sugg is fine though, it's just asking for a clearer glass
If the name is removed then it's alright
Could have a bit more reasoning to it I spose, but it's ultimately for an aesthetic purpose, so..
Thanks
It's purely for aesthetics. Terraria does the same thing as Minecraft when it comes to glass, and that is not make it completely clear
I feel obligated to mention Echo Blocks
Except those are completely invisible. It's that in-between where you have a proper sheet of glass and you can see right through it, but it has a distinct outline, that should be sought for.
i kinda just assumed it was going for a "mostly clear except an outline" like real glass
yeah
that
yeh
sounds like something vanilla should add but I wouldn't mind having it in cal
actually i wonder if theres a resource pack that clears the glass
probably
oh there is
What was the sugg
plantera arena most likely
Ah
a naturally generated assorted jungle boss arena
Already exists lol
which is what i said
Mfw people don’t read update changelogs
tbh tho, why is big hive real when vernal pass exists. Big hive just feels unnatural and ugly while vernal pass is cool, and big hive does nothing pass doesn't.
I don’t have to find a queen bee hive
It saves me time
Some people just hear that the mod was updated and don't want to spend 10 minutes sifting through every single change
My point stands
Why not ask around either
I am pretty sure that the hive is not finished yet
If they suggested an arena, surely they could’ve asked around before, right?
That's why some people probably still don't know that Cadance Potions were removed
I'm aware of how the page layout is.
Why not ask before suggesting smth
I love it when the entire point of my argument is invalidated by people on the internet
I think people should read changelogs as they come out and the problem is solved. People suddenly surprised and upset their favorite potions are gone, when it was announced 2 months ago
people dont have the mental capacity to read half the time
I think that people shouldn't read the changelogs
a lot of players arent in the server
Source: the entirety of the Bug Reports forum
And not everyone is in the discord
lmfao, true
true, the old channel was somehow worse
Exactly, like there's 2.5 million subscribers of Calamity, yet only like about 100 thousand people here
No, they just don't read how to report a bug, or the list of already known bugs
A few were like that, but it's mostly people not giving the logs
I've been responding to posts with "read the pins" for over 3 years now
That's both concerning and frustrating to hear
lmao, my favorite was when it was all one channel, I would answer someone, and the very next message someone would ask the exact same question. The channel was also called "Bugs-Read-Pins".
a lot of issues can be solved if people just read
we should probably move on from this though as it isn't discussing suggestions
but since this is calcord reading is an impossible task
Regarding this
Would it be a good idea
yeah
currently the dash is barely a dash
if you dash into anything with damage you will take damage
I just love how there were three people there that all agreed it would be a good suggestion and then none of us did it
it once took me like 5 days to suggest giving prov's attacks an outline after having a discussion about it here
Ah, fair point. Sometimes it's good to think it over
no like i just forgot to do it
now make one for giving an outline to all boss projectiles
lol
I'll do it now, since I have the idea in my mind
I want to make it lean into multiclass stuff
and also craft into Gemtech (which needs the donor perm)
just permanent omniscience potion
it doesn't need to become a gemtech material
during the prov outline discussion that was brought up but i remember agreeing that it wasnt the greatest of ideas because frankly a lot of the time the projectiles are perfectly visible
Considering it's already a sucky multiclass armor, that shouldn't be too bad
yeah don't need to
but it would be cool no?
you can make it multiclass without interfering with gem tech
not everything needs to be upgraded into something else
- less bureaucracy
that is indeed a +
crystal assassin dash is like one of the longest dashes in the game atm, but it still sucks because half of what makes a dash good is the associated bonk/bash/dodge lmao
cring
or make omniscience give projectile outlines
so then people complain about it being mandatory for bosses and the outlines are moved to the projectiles themselves
😈
I was in particular thinking of it incentivizing weapon swapping in some way much like what gemtech does
not sure what exactly though
would be was cooler than 90% of multiclass armors atm tbh
Do any other armors give dashes?
rams are dashes........
ye
p sure they're pointing it out just to further emphasize how shafted crystal assassin got lmao
I wouldn't count Auric in this suggestion's context
Considering the dash is just the same as God Slayer's
It's good to point out what kind of dash it is, given CA dash doesn't ram

Looks like a total of four armors uniquely give dashes or rams
Plaguebringer, God Slayer, Solar Flare, and Crystal Assassin
Each of which has something to the dash aside from crystal assassin
I should put that in the suggestion
sounds good
How's this look?
Buff Crystal Assassin armor's dash
Currently, Crystal Assassin is a somewhat unique armor, in that it innately gives a dash, a characteristic shared with only three other armors: God Slayer, Plaguebringer, and Solar Flare. Each of these has something unique about their dash: God Slayer with it being omnidirectional, Solar Flare's being a ram, and Plaguebringer's spawning bees and getting a ram. Dashes aside, Crystal Assassin got shafted by Calamity, what with removing the stats part of the set bonus and simply leaving the dash. Just something to keep in mind, as it's worse than Cobalt or Palladium even accounting for a freed up accessory slot. I propose giving Crystal Assassin's dash a dodge, similar to the Counter Scarf. The dash it gives is often seen as a downgrade, as it's only benefit at the moment is distance, which isn't very important compared to rams or dodges.
I agree
maybe edit the end to say like..
"I propose giving Crystal Assassin's dash a dodge, similar to the Counter Scarf. Currently the dash is often a downgrade to using Counter Scarf, Shield of Cthulhu, or Ornate Shield, as having a ram, bonk, or dodge is often more important than the distance a dash travels."
Also note plaguebringer dash has a ram
literally every other armor dash can ram through enemies at least
Crystal assassin is the odd one out
I think it should be reverted to it's old state if they won't improve it's dash
How about that
perfect
@wide river why buff the dash when we could buff the stats?
Yes its worse than palladium and cobalt but why exactly
Let me think for a while, I genuinely didn't consider this
I had just thought that it was nerfed for a reason
easy
Provide more variety
more stats makes it have to directly compete with cobalt/palladium
make it having a unique niche means the stats don't have to be better than cobalt/palladium while being relevant
If you treat crystal armor dash as replacement of an emblem yes crystal arnor is stupidly understated
bc as it is now, crystal assassin needs on par stats to be worth using over cobalt and palladium, maybe better
As the dash is genuinely usually a downgrade over a ram or scarf
And I dont think crystal armor having a unique dash helps, because at that point why not just use a different armor with counter scarf
because you save the slot
at least the dash is not basically directly worse than another armor + scarf anymore
The thing about the other dash armor is that the dash is an "additional benefit" rather than the main point of the armor
Ok, thinking time over.
In vanilla, the set bonus of 10% increased crit chance and damage allowed Crystal Assassin armor to be on par with Cobalt and Palladium
It has comparable defense to both of them, damage stats are somewhat fine, and it lets the player free up an accessory slot if a dash was equipped.
in vanilla there's also only shield of Cthulhu to compete against for dashes
not counter scarf which is both longer and arguably better
In Calamity, however, the set bonus was reduced to just a dash, making it have only 5% increased damage and crit chance
anyway basically; emphasize that buffing the dash as opposed to buffing stats is provides more variety in armor choices, and provides it a niche that isn't based on being stronger than other armors for stats
Ok, I realize now that Crystal Assassin might be fine if the set bonus is restored. Although, making the dash slightly different might allow it to stand out more among the unique set bonuses that are Cobalt, Palladium, and Statigel
imo
As those are the three armors most players would use at that stage
focus less on how it compares to their unique bonuses
and how it makes it viable even if it has worse stats
like how reaver mobility is viable despite 0 combat stats
You either make the dash do something extraordinary that it is worth the cost or you buff the stat, I dont think you do both
^
I wasn't inherently suggesting both would happen. Those were just options.
Imo I am leaning towards just buffing stat
Because buffing dash means it need to compete with evasion scarf and ornate shield
Both of which are already incredibly broken item that for crystal dash to compete it need to be even more absurd
ok but it saves an accessory slot over those two
Ah right, because evasion scarf is scal viable or something
While also being a much longer dash than either of them
it doesn't need to directly be better, it needs to provide a use case for it
buffing the stats just makes it good because the stats are good, when instead it could be a more interesting armor set by having a unique niche
At the very least, it should be on par with Cobalt and Palladium, as Crystal Assassin is after a boss, while the ores are not.
yes
Without stat buff you just use a normal armor and use the aforementioned dash items, because you loss more stat than an emblem can compensate
Buffing both stats and dash will be a problem because you save an accessory slot which basically beat over all other armor except like melee mythril and adamantite (and rogue/summoner)
