okay i got posted over but yes, there may be some weapons crafted with just the energies but then you have to rebalance them all and you have the fight the three sentinels in a row anyway so it doesn't really help much. DoG still has a ton of content bloat either way and shoving the already universally agreed upon bad event buffs in between what are effectively mini-bosses to fight before DoG isn't going to help

using balancing as the sole reasoning tend to be weak, try to be more like, "properties based", like if these weapons are basically just lower damage version of another weapon (eg: spectre staff and spectre rifle; where the two are identical except different class)
because no matter how shitty a weapon is they can be buffed; but chances are the devs will not go through great effort to rework random, irrelevant weapons so their performance stay the same
my gripe is they feel out of place, for the PHM one, i cannot think of a reason to use this over any melee weapon
even in the TM catagory
the HM one is more defensible as a weapon that works bc it does alright damage and it's good for destroyer ig (ig you could buff this and it'd be fine as a thing you pick up to kill metal worm man)
it'd basically just be in the same boat as the aftershock and the avalanche
PHM one do be indefensible tho

yes i know you dont see it, that's why im mentioning it, it's already part of the meta to thicken scal's arena walls manually because this makes it more likely for her attacks to pop on contact outside of her arena due to how her projectiles work
so no, thickening the walls isn't exactly a simple thing to do

or in an area around the altar
or you can just make them ignore walls 
but it will make scal like, 5x harder, instantly; if they want to do that they seriously need to make bullet hell projectile lesser

This suggestion works under the principle that every debuff gets at least it’s own immunity

debuffs had always been meant (or at least one of the main way) to counter life regen, to certain degree, that and heavily defensive build (because debuff "ignore" defense and DR)
the rationale behind the suggestion was that because debuff dont properly remove your life regen many of them have to be given completely bullshit amount of DPS (you can notice this easily in death mode) to basically "counter" the amount of life regen you have, which makes it extremely unfair against low regen build
so for best of both world it should just remove regen but at the sametime (maybe) able to reduce the DPS on those debuffs (and to make crown jewel line actually work, and make investment into immunity worthwhile)
iirc except for like, god slayer inferno and vulnerability hex you basically can get on-tier immunity for most debuffs in the game
I think the two shortswords should stay and be reworked tbh
we don't have many shortswords
so it'd be nice to make them usable and interesting

i still one of the biggest issues with boss themeing is just the fact that all the evil biome stuff is so frontloaded to preHM and early hardmode. even old duke is like, mostly fine. his drops could use some help, but even the most egregious sulph sea stuff isn't as bad as evils1->evils2->sg within the span of like 5 bosses
and then ichor and cursed flames and then you never touch the evil biomes again

But yeah I always considered indirect upgrades also as part of their drop but NO exo need mage weapon drop because they dont have mage weapon drop

Though that is as much of a "fancy weapon" problem as a "poor weapon" problem
feature creep is a Real Thing yeah
Calamity weapons are overall pretty outdated and meh, save for some exceptions in each tier
Of course fancy weapons will be incredibly cool in comparison
big numbers and high multipliers get scary and are either broken if you do know or too annoying for people to want to use
