Some things that can help: Use tModPriorityChanger so that you do not have to manually change the dotnet priority through Task Manager everytime you play.
If you lag a lot, one thing that has helped people in the past is going to the tModLoader files and changing the STACK SIZE in tModLoader.runtimeconfig.json from 400000 to a higher value like 6400000 (you will need an editing software like Notepad++ to do this).
If you are consistently crashing on world load I would suggest adjusting your Virtual Memory to a higher value. You can find various YouTube videos on how to do this.
If you lag a lot due to projectiles, enable XMP (Intel) or DOCP/EXPO (AMD) in your motherboard BIOS. You can find various YouTube videos on how to do this.
