you have to spam the heck out of the beam to do any real damage. mars has some phases where it doesn’t do anything and you can just wail on it though, which is where most of the real damage comes from

This was happening to me, move the flag farther away from where you usually place it (20-50 blocks) hopefully you get lucky, only the tent and telescope are needed so if the campfire doesn't spawn dont worry about it.
