Post signus there's also sevens striker which is really good albeit it wants platinum coins of course, which makes it a way less appealing option if you don't have QOLs. Although, gold coins should still work fine for the most part

No it literally doesn't work if you don't do this, and it's already buggy enough as is that trying to force it fully via debug stuff has a very low likelyhood of it actually working

As for why they require this, probably because they want you to actually play the experience to have it hit more
