Well⦠I started an Infernum playthrough a while ago, but reached CalShadow only recently (due to me taking a break from the game)
And just want to share my thoughts
After 4-5 Vanilla Calamity runs (in Death Expert and MasRev mostly) Infernum definitely feels like a breath of fresh air
I didnt think that I will get such a joy during boss fighting in terms of fairness, creativity, visuals and transparency while playing freaking Calamity
All Pre Hm bosses were really fun and interesting to master (Slime god and Perforators especially) (except for DeerClops. I do not like his attack when he summons purple hand and becomes invincible)
After fighting Infernum King Slime I wanted to consume Fabsolβs soul for his poor or straight annoying design choices that he brought in most of his bosses
In Hardmode.. wellβ¦
I would say that mostly I was annoyed by Destroyer. It was interesting, yeahs, undeniably better than original , but I really hated his bombs drops. I felt that dodging them is a more of a luck, no matter how I tried to handle them (maybe I shouldβve used teleportation hook)
Twins and SkelPrime are both good, interesting take on those bastards. Always hated Skelprime in original Calamity.
Also I liked that mini scene with Draedon watching over us after taking down his inferior creations
Brimstone Elemental and Cryogen.. well, I would like to say that I liked them both more in base Calamity. In infernum they are a bit mid.
But Aquatic Scourge⦠it is really goated
Dominic (is it the name of Infernum and Wotg main developer, right?) managed to take βmr fart and spitβ worm and turn it to something creative. I liked that you have to fight him under water and then rise up to surface to finish him off. In comparison to what heβs been in base Cal it is the absolute cinema
Though, I have mixed feelings about Abyss reworking
Overall, I am really enjoyed. Shame that Infernum most likely will be a bit worse after the Update (as I guess)
I feel like I will not return to base Calamity modes for a while
