obsidian, while better in vanilla, is FAR worse in Calamity due to multiplicative tag damage
Whips in pre HM give around 1-3 more damage to your summons at the absolute maximum
buffing whips isn't a priority, considering the summons are significantly better than whips in pre HM
That is (hopefully) going to be changed to be more balanced in the future (man pre HM whips are terrible in Calamity. They should have additive damage)
