How much would watercooling cut down on the heat expelled from the case

#

My PC heats up my room considerably and I'm wondering if an AIO would alleviate that at all

jovial tide
#

I mean, the heat's gotta go somewhere

none. The AIO just expels the heat faster, if you have a very very very bad air cooler

#

Also, you can just download Syncthing for windows.

strong saffron

cold elbow

cold elbow
#

it's currently running windows 10 latest

strong saffron
#

10 LTSC is probably lighter than 8 or 8.1

#

Can I create dev environments with Podman btw? or is it just for running containers?

brave field
#

If you mean through that one VSCode thing where you can try new languages, you should be able to, in theory, but I couldn't make it work on either docker or podman.

latent drum
#

does anyone find it weird that companies are pushing raytracing while dynamic lighting still looks like ass

brave field
#

It has support for everything docker can do except docker-compose. If you do any normal OCI-container development without that one vscode thing, yes

latent drum
#

there are a few select AAA titles with good dynamic lighting and it still doesnt even come close to baked lighting

cold elbow
latent drum
brave field
#

make sure you have your networking sorted though. Containers don't get their own ip in rootless, for example. They all share one ip address and only forwarded ports matter when running without root/a pod/custom bridge setup. Leads to things like nginx seeing all incoming traffic as the same ip address (the one of the bridge), or wireguard/openvpn seeing both the client and the server as the bridge's ip. The sudo does wonders if networking in podman is wack but not in docker.

latent drum
#

its just included in game engines

it just the price of GPUs and such have increased because of a useless space on the die itself

Oh, you were talking about GPUs, not CPUs.

jovial tide
#

Yeah

arctic yarrow
#

You said ryzen and I immediately thought about the 5000 series.

jovial tide
#

Yeah I get mixed up between ryzen and Radeon

arctic yarrow
#

Isn't it weird that the 5700x performs 1-2% slower than the 5800x despite the TDP of both being vastly different?

#

The 5700x has a TDP of 65W, while the 5800x has a TDP of 105W

jovial tide
#

The 5800x is known to get quite hot tho, so it's probably not very efficient in the way it's using that extra tdp

arctic yarrow
#

Yeah, I guess you could OC the shit outta the 5700x and have it perform better than an OC'd 5800x.

#

I'm really liking the fact that my 5700x peaks out at 67c under full load when overclocked to 4.3ghz, meanwhile my 7700k hit 95c under full load at 4.2 ghz.

#

Same cooling solution too.

small mural
#

It’s also weird that the 5800x performs pretty much as good as the 5950x, despite being half the price at MSRP

arctic yarrow
small mural
#

Yes

arctic yarrow
#

It makes sense tho, since per core performance matches, and gaming usually doesn't use more than 8 cores.

small mural
#

I’m also talking about the “regular” 5800x

#

Not the 3D

arctic yarrow
#

Yeah, the 5800x3D performs better in gaming than either the 5800x and the 5950x.

small mural
#

It can be confusing to the average person

#

Because they’d think “Ryzen 9> Ryzen 7” or something

arctic yarrow
#

Yeah... it's a little confusing, but real world performance depends on what you're doing.

#

If you're using it for productivity, the 5950x would be a better option than the 5800x3D

#

Gaming has the 5800x3D, then the 5800x, 5900x, and 5950x at a tie.

small mural
#

Even for gaming, you’d think the flagship Ryzen 9 would be a better option than the Ryzen 7

arctic yarrow
#

Followed closely by the 5800 and 5700x

arctic yarrow
#

Funny enough, some reviewers are suggesting that the 5700x is just a rebranded 5800.

I wouldn't be surprised if true.

How can I check whether two folders and their contents are identical? Each folder contains several thousand files in sub-folders. (Windows 10)

Linux method is fine too ig because WSL FeelsOkayMan

i would've said try copying everything from one to another, it should pop up telling you that the files are similar and if you want to replace them...

but now that i think about it, that's a looooooot of files

strong saffron
#

That happens if the files have the same names, regardless of similarity

#

That copies files, no? I want to basically hash the entire directory and compare. I was wondering if there was a method that did it automatically
