I have an intriguing question that struck me while trying to sleep

Say you're in a room, 4x4m, and a fragmentation grenade is in the center of the room, the kill zone is a 1.5m radius, injure zone is anything past that

You're in a corner of this square room, any corner, and to the side of you is a concrete stud wall, impenetrable, for the sake of this question. But infront of you is only two 'standard pallets' like so

One is vertically standing, one horizontal

Say when the frag grenade goes off, it releases 50 pellets/frag balls for every degree of a 360° arc. Say the gaps between the pallets are 2x2cm wide and tall. Would it be possible to work out how many balls would get through the gaps in the wood? For the questions sake ignoring ricochet and assuming it didnt penetrate, only going through gaps

And we're also assuming this is a single layer disc style frag, not your traditional round one, so the pellets are not layered

Yeah, I'd increased the radius of the sphere based on the area of the pallet the pellets would hit, then calculated the degrees based on the circumference compared to the length of the pallet and multiplied it with how many statistical pellets do not hit the ground for the x axis. For the Y axis, I multiplied the amount of statistical pellets that would have pointed at the x direction of the pallet with the fraction of 90 degrees that would have hit it. After that, I counted out the gaps between each of the boards from the image you showed, then multiplied that by the width of the gaps you'd specified, 2cm, then multiplied it with 1 meter for the length of the gaps, then multiplied that by the area of the pallet and multiplied the result with the theoretical pellets to figure out how many would go through.

Overall, that was a fun mathematical problem.

Like, once you reach terminal velocity you can't go 'faster' so impact speed would stay constant
