Got a question regarding an FTP server. My brother unplugged the power to the server because it's "wasting power" and now when I try to access the ftp server it times out over the network, but can be accessed within the machine itself. I'm frankly at a loss as to what may have changed (other than the obvious power event), and I've tried to fiddle with it to no avail for the past 2 hours. I'm running vsftpd on an ubuntu server environment.

I've followed every guide I can think of to try to get it connecting, even duplicating trying to open the same ports.

The server is on a DMZ, so the issue isn't port forwarding.

I'm basically setting it to 600ppi for a 180mm x 50mm canvas and then exporting the image as PNG and pasting them onto a word document for printing, in which they come out like the first image

Late reply (timezone differences are a bitch) but I have tried reinstalling and reconfiguring, as well as changing file folders permissions. I use ssh to connect into it for configuration, but I haven't tested if game or media servers work. One thing I haven't tested is taking the server off the DMZ and using port forwarding instead.

I feel like theres a config option missing preventing a successful connection, but I've made sure internal and external ports are open on the firewall, and enabled listening for either ipv6 or ipv4.

Well... I've tested out ZorinOS on a laptop with gaming, and I think it would make an adequate Windows replacement for someone who's used to the windows UI.

Proton works extremely well for most steam titles, and Wine is effectively PnP for non-steam games rn.

The catch rn is I've only tested it out on a laptop with integrated graphics rn. Gonna test another one with a discrete gpu next.

Specifically nvidia, I've heard there are driver issues with linux on nvidia cards.

@jovial tide You weren't joking about Nvidia being a pain in the ass with linux. I just lost all ability to display out of that laptop when I attempted to update to the lastest nvidia drivers.

Not even booting into grub and attempting to reinstall the old driver helped me.

Gaming performance was about what I expected though. In fact, I lost only about 7 fps on games that weren't verified for proton, and gained on average 5fps for those that were verified to run on proton.

Dunno what kinda black magic Valve pulled to make that happen.

I'll just resintall the OS and get it set up without trying to update the drivers. I'm not the one who's gonna use it anyway, and that laptop works better on linux than windows 10. On 10 it kept bsoding every 30 minutes.

bpytop is a python implementation of btop which is written in C++ so it has much better performance

theres no ideal browser really.. edge is bloatware, opera gx is ram hungry, and so is chrome
