If he leaves, game's paused for all, session manager (master) repeats the process to choose another host.
So how's the information processed? There's a server / master and a host / listener. And aside from those, there's the other players / clients.
Clients move from A to B, it gets sent to the server / master and then...?

I’d just update
yea i checked, dont think i found one that said it had the click bios 5 if you mean bios update
and fuck windows update
i go without updates for months because i dont listen to microsoft
Why is cod so dogshit at picking hosts. My connection is flawless yet I play with the laggiest mofos
Delete the game
@brave field remember I had brightness flickers? changing the voltage to +30% in geforce experience performance tab fixed the problem
I forgot I changed it to 0% before, default is 30%
Thoughts?
Clean yo bed
@brave field that chip I asked about. With the pins. I found it. It's a i3-380
ah
Intel hasnt used PGA on PC since P4
380M
not great, but definitely not useless
u dont even have a proper floor
on mobile its up to the 2nd gen Intel Core iirc
Oh no its definetly useless kekw
install linux on it
The collection grows
Now I have an i3-380M
An intel Q8200
And the i3-2120
No I anything on that Q
deskpad?
Verosika mayday
It it normal to pay an "early termination" fee for buying a new sim
Cause mine ended it December but got a new one in November
So why the fuck did i have to pay £100 early termination fee
Because the company is greedy as fuck and is allowed to do something like that
clean your bed
learn how to get good at taking photos with phones christ
Ok and
IT WAS MY FIRST TIME DOING THAT AND I WANTED TO GET THE WHOLE DESK BUT IM TOO DAMN TALL
I dont wanna talk about it
bru clean your bed
listen man it was 11 pm and i had exams the next day i just wanted to go to sleep
Clean yo bed
But i will take better pic today after school

And fix my bed
when i have exams, i don't go to bed until at least 2 in the am
Well
Have you seen my damn room im the Real loser at life
still
Well i will do better
1/6
yes

so u have: 1+6, 2+5, 3+4
which is 3
out of 36 combinations
its 1/12
unless u count the reverse as wel
which is 6 out of 36
yea its 1/6
ik that
@charred otter did you clean your desk
ntlite being fucking chrome
i think my pc is struggling to export this fucking thing as esd lol
As an electro static discharge?
i dont fucking know what it means just a compressed windows image
Im not home
Bro
Did you clean your bed
Im not home
I have exams and school
does anyone here have knowledge about monitors?
Could you be any more vague?
I finally got xrdp audio working
the cause for all my problems was, as usual, trying to rely on a Dell PC to do anything but be a paperweight
2+2 = 5
a cardboard pc is probably better than a dell pc
Ok so i got my new desk and new monitor yesterday and sent a pic here and i had one slight issue
The monitor does not play sound
I turned it up to max and it wasnt making a sound
Now is this natural or an issue i need to fix
Well you see
It's connected to my ps4
So i dont know how to that
PS4 hmm
I guess many modern monitors straight up don't have speakers at all anymore
Does yours mention them in their manual/box/listing?
Igor what's the problem with it
Looked although the manuals and it doesn't say anything
But there is a headphone thing in the back
That's usually just to pass audio straight from HDMI/DP/USB-C to headphones/speakers you plug into the monitor
Ye
ye
oof
DSL?
He's referring to your connection to ISP
im getting like half on the speedtest
Ethernet is as fast as it gets
huge loss lol
That should be cable
100mbps isn't referring to your connection to other computers around the world, that menu reports the speed of the connection to the router/switch you have
Usually fiber has no loss, and DSL doesn't go that high
You'll still get that 100Mbps sending a file between devices on the same network
my ping is horrible tho
wru from? US?
Well no wonder your connection's crappy
imagine assuming my country
to be fair about your ping
the ookla speedtest doesn't have a huge number of servers in the UK
your ping may be much lower for many things like Youtube or games (though, 30 is pretty common for non-speedtests)
oof
@jovial tide MIMO, I saw you mention it before with routers and wireless APs, have a TLDR? I've been preparing to set up a pfsense VM and start trying stuff
i do have all power saving options disabled tho in the ethernet adapter settings
Well Wifi 5 and 6 support it
simply 5 (ac) supports on 5GHz, 6 on both when router and card support the tech
Idk how to set it up for Pfsense sry
agh, I have neither of those
UDP Checksum offload (ipv4 and ipv6), tcp checksum offload (ipv4 and ipv6), large send offload (ipv4 and ipv6) disabled
Speed & duplex set to 1.0 gbps full duplex, not like it did much anyways but i have it set to that
one last thing i use EE lol
ISP
but my ethernet adapter is realtek lol

fuck crypto
Crypto is the futures
it needs to be regulated
The main concept of crypto is it not being regulated
Which opens all sort of possibilities for scammers and thieves
imagine if stock markets was that unregulated. WSB would have a field day

hehe
Hii, i got dell xps 13 (13 inch) 8gb ram i5 intel iris xe graphics card. Are this specs enough to run gta 5 on my laptop?
open google, type "xps13 gta5 benchmark", click on the first result
Ok
i was able to run gta 5 on lowest graphics on an i3 with an igpu and 8gb of 2133 ram at 60ish fps
Anything 3 years younger than GTA 5 can run GTA 5
GTAO though thats a completely different thing
you mean younger?

GG

This is the c++ book i got. Is it upto date cause its a 2013 version
Unless c++ changes every year
default amd frequency curve
look how much more stable it became after i applied this other curve
i think this is my old motherboard lol
it was crappy but i will always love it
crappy
What's wrong with ddr3?

"click bios 5" shows the shitty gse lite bios that looks like a bios from 5-6 years ago
Because msi reverted to that in order to add more supported CPUs
After all the bios chip has finite amount of storage
Would take that bios anyday to support a new cpu that got released.
yea ik, they did that to support the 3000 series
Yeah i used ryzen 3600 on an msi b350 and it worked perfectly and also supported a lot of ram modules.
There were even ram overclocking presets
Im using the r5 1600 anyways
That was my old cpu
Overclocked that thing to 3.9 on stock cooler.
And a 2400 cl16 ram to 2666 cl14
i think you can downgrade i mean upgrade to click bios 5 if you have a 1000 or 2000 series, but haven't yet to find a bios update that has click bios 5 on my specific mobo
U wont really get anything extra by downgrading
yea, but i just like the click bios 5 feel more
it seems so much more modern and easier to navigate lol
gse lite kinda looks old though
Its a bios

U apply your settings then forget about it
And its always better to run the latest AGESA possible
Especially for these early boards
720p?
true, just nice to not be greeted with something that looks like it was from 5-6 years ago
yes
720p is the best
Yes
Hi
720 works yeah
I played 720p 40-50fps on my 8250u + mx150 acer (power limited) laptop
I miss when EVGA used to give reviewers PSU models before release
The EVGA BA500 is $30 right now, and not a single review exists to say if its a CX550M equivalent or an EVGA BBQ/BR equivalent
After 6 of their models were outed as fire hazards and they got caught faking their 80+ ratings, they sorta had to stop sending review models if they want to keep their good name
Its right in my budget, but I don't think it'll hold up
I haven't seen any reviews on my current c750 PSU from NZXT which is basically a Seasonic.
is it ok to buy laptops for gaming with rtx?
you don't need an nvidia rtx card to be able to launch video games
an amd rx card is well enough
1060 3gb gang
i mean im getting a rtx laptop which is obv better than rx but my question is if buying a laptop is worth
or should i just save for a pc?
kinda
like what do you do?
TL;dr
If you want to game DONT BUY A LAPTOP.
kinda
gaming laptops are ok, but the batteries run out faster than the flash
but i have a stable connection at home so cant play competetively on the go
No they are not ok
they work, but yea the batteries run out super quick
after only like 3-4 maybe 5 hours of constant gaming you have to charge the battery again
ive seen laptops getting hot and then thermal throttling which is why ive avoided them
They are expensive
They tend to overheat
Heavy
Shit battery life
And gets outdated too fast.
Cant be used as a good gaming setup or a good laptop for whatever else.
also true some do overheat
Relsell value is also terrible
but they work
how about i dont want to do some very heavy gaming but just work?
U better off buying a cheap laptop for school and work
And an xbox series S for the rest.
by cheap i hope you dont mean one of those shitty budget £100 - £300 ones because those choke when you try to open more than 5 chrome tabs
2k straight to the bin if you buy a laptop.

yea those shitty budget laptops choke when you open more than 5 chrome tabs
lol i cant just sit for prices to go low for building a pc
and take like 2 minutes to startup
- by the time you download one game the drive is pretty much full
U just add more than 4gb ram
dont buy laptops, desktops too that are £300 or less
I bought a 200$ acer aspire 3 laptop for my friend
After a while slapped an ssd and 8gb ram to it
Costed like 60$ and now it's a great machine
She does school work and works as a content creator with that thing
can u just tell me what should i get for 2k usd
can it run 60 fps on GTAV?
i dont just want gaming though
(Power, Thermals, Money, Design quality, Battery, etc)
well yeah old laptop is
yea but with no upgrades like i said those shitty budget laptops choke when you open 5 chrome tabs and the drive is full by the time you download your first game
There's always one or two of those factors missing
Choke with 12gb ram????? Bruh
She plugged two monitors to it and using all what she wants of tabs and software like adobe photoshop and it's family
The laptop with upgrade costed 260$ ......
probs you should just save up for a good pc lol
So u wanna waste the rest of your money... up to 2k only for it to be a "gaming laptop"
I use my homework with Samsung DEX. It works great but I didn't need a laptop
but I need one for gaming
whats your budget?
Exactly most of our use doesn't need a gaming laptop
I managed to save for like $600
I use a tablet for school mostly
lol
To easily pack up and move with it
For that u get a miniATX desktop
I haven't seen anything good like that anywhere
yea, you might get a decent setup for that price if the games you plan to buy aren't very intensive
MiniATX designs are great
Also, most chinese miniatx pcs are based on nuc architecture
Hmmm that's risky I think
Also, aren't miniatx boards come with laptop form gpu and cpu?
Man I'm R word sry
There's a new case that is really cool by coolermaster i think
Miniatx, my motherboard is miniatx
just dont expect to run newer games (basically anything less than 3 years old i would say at max settings without getting some very huge frame drops every now and then because you wont be getting a beast setup with $600)
Which one is smallest mini or micro atx?
@cold elbow I mixed it up with Nuc form factor
Fk the nuc
alkright tyty
Yea if you play very intensive games you will be getting some huge frame drops every now and then with a $600 setup, better you save up until you have enough money to get a setup with atleast a 2080 maybe 2070/2060 or the amd equivalent, atleast a 1st gen ryzen or the intel equivalent, atleast 16gb of ram, atleast 1tb hdd storage and cheap 100-200gig sata or nvme ssd as boot drive which will definitely be way over $1000 for sure
i used to game on an e-machines
the motherboard/bios dont matter that much, you will go in the bios maybe like 1-2 times to enable xmp, mess with fan control and enable virtualisation if you ever plan on using a virtual machine for some reason but try to get a mobo that supports 3000+ mhz ram
also sometimes on older boards you will need to bios update to use a new cpu on new boards you shouldn't have an issue pairing with a new cpu
should just work right out of the box
lmfao
hello
so im looking into overclocking my i5 4690k
my motherboard is a Z97P i have no clue how to do this shit
😂
its currently running at 3800mhz
Grab HWiNFO
get some stats on your current load temps and where the CPU puts its boost clock generally
after, you can head into BIOS and start moving your clock speed/multiplier up slowly, saving, resetting, and testing for stability
when things get unstable, you'll need to raise your CPU's voltage with it, a bit (much slower than your clock speeds, going too far causes FAST overheating and potentially, damage).
You can probably get something around 4.3ghz with yours without a huge amount of tweaks
yup
i believe i was running at that before
however in july when installing my ssd and changing boot drive i had to reset bios due to a fuck up
and i never got around to re doing it
@brave fieldok so
i dont know what the fucks going on here
too much
sensors only
ok i will re run it
click the button to spread the view into more columns, else it'll be super super long, and then take a look while you're doing the most demanding things you usually do on it
again way too much for me
just look for the CPU section
ok after this am i looking at the temps?
and stuff?
sorry if im an idiot
This guide will likely help you more, I'm awful at explaining things https://www.overclock.net/threads/haswell-overclocking-guide-with-statistics.1411077/
keep your eyes on the temperature, the software-reported voltage, and clock speeds, yes. Also consider checking your motherboard's VRM temps. Once you know what's up, you can start raising the multiplier bit by bit in your BIOS. Optionally, you can use Intel XTU without having to reboot, but you'll still want to set it in the BIOS once you're done with testing
thanks
Need help on which wifi i need to buy for my pc
AX200-based PCIe 3.0 1x card with external antennae
Any PCIe wifi adapter with an Intel AX200 in it will do, maybe even be overkill
Ok but i also have a internet router ?
BT
@brave field
If your router is physically accessible, don't bother with wifi at all, and use ethernet
sus design
I knew it! Nvidia was lying all along! They're stealing MY GPUs!
https://www.awd-it.co.uk/awd-it-10100f-4-3ghz-quad-core-gtx-1650-4gb-pc-for-gaming.html?config=15372-177390,15375-177405,15378-177543,15381-177546,15384-177591,15387-177603,15390-177651,15393-177666,15396-177690,15399-177693,15426-177864,17626-197854 this is the pc am getting which window should i get @brave field
cheapest
If "None" is a lot cheaper than the next cheapest, go with that. Its easy to get a Windows license for $20 or less, entirely legally, within Microsoft's Terms (Note this requires a =>8GBUSB drive and possibly physical access to another PC)
Or
Just download it for free
U don't need to activate windows
IT'S FREE FOR FUCKKK
Free functions indefinitely, but you violate M$' terms using it for more than 30 days, and you won't have many personalization features
and that watermark...
You can but you're not supposed to! Be the good citizen!
(you're right, and financially that is indeed the best option)
Still, try to grab a key out of a scrapyard prebuilt somewhere later on, if you can
Windows 7/8 OEM keys activate just fine in 10
Kl cuz i just want to get the pc, unbox it and connect the wired, setup my acc and start downloading games and not doing that window sh$t
And enjoy the bloatware

And outdated drivers
The device you're currently on, can you write to a USB drive on it? (Is it a non-apple device?)
I have hp with window 10
perfect
All you need is an 8gb or larger USB drive and this https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10
Then you can use that on the USB drive, install windows yourself, for free, and you're good
So i plug that 8gb usb to my hp and download window 10 @brave field
russian software
ye
Series S/X are best, since they have USB-C and natively support xinput and Windows.Gaming.Input
So the XS then
comrade
How do you change from integrated graphics to a dedicated gpu? Explaining it to someone who hopefully isn't still experiencing low fps in the game
this happened to me on desktop i was really dumb and plugged hdmi cable into mobo instead of gpu
It was someone in #gta-online but dont know if they still need help
okok
have this, which was not made in Paint
tell them to physically unplug their monitor and move the display cables to the correct position
look
places where people get warned for pinging mods in a relevant conversation are fucking dumb
avoid these at all costs
look at @civic cloud he pings me all the fuckin time

just ping him if its about pcs
he kinda helps everyone with pc related stuff 😂
that too
@jovial tide check out this if he still needs help
This
he dont need help anymore
Question to tech nerds
Is my xbox internal hardrive corrupt?
: One day i started my xbox and went onto borderlands 3 bc I'd recently bought it and was grinding it
My game crashed after loading for like 5 minutes so I re tried it like 3 times n it still kept freezing, i googled why this happens n its been happening to xbox users for some time now
A few days go by of me playing diff games n i try n hop on battlefield v
For some reason it wouldnt load me into a game.. I was weirded out and thought
Tf
I asked my gf n she said the same stuff happened to her xbox before it broke
I tried to do a offline system update n it well
Didn't work
So I can't play most online games
I can play gta but, my radio in game doesn't work, npc dialogue, and cutscenenes are buggy n delayed

sounds like xbox one experience
are you able to take out the hard drive, put it in the pc and check it with crystaldiskinfo or smth?

It's covered in a lotta stuff
- motherboard
I tried fixing my controller once n made it 20x worse so
probably overheated to death over time
I doubt me going at the xbox is a great idea
The heating is fine
I have it in enough space n what not
During summer it started to heat badly so I'd keep off it most of the time
Buying a new one anyway but I'd like to know how it d I e d
I see
It might even be fine, and its just the Xbox software acting up
Or Microsoft put a used drive in yours instead of new, anything could be the cause until you're able to get it out and see
I see

@proven kernel think i have a place for you to ask that question if you are interested
People here might also answer you

Some aspects for example Artificial intelligence are difficult. Whereas there are other areas like web dev that are a bit easier
soup
Is computer science a good career? Is it high paying or something?
lol

Yes it is in most areas. If you're looking into coding stuff then I'd ensure you go into it out of passion for coding etc as a lifetime coding, designing and testing will get boring
In my country (UK) lowest job I found was front end web dev which was £20,000 annually entry level
any idea what could cause this
i tried to launch fivem the cool way and what?!
lol
using command prompt to launch stuff = cool
Hey I’m looking at buying a pc and was wondering if anyone could help me out and like tell me why I need for what I’ll be doing on it ? Please feel free to dm

Need help finding a gaming laptop For warzone, Forza 5, gta 5/rp and Fortnite good very good graphics £600 plz with bigger screen min 15.6 and above
you aint finding a gaming laptop with that budget
maybe save up like 100 or 200 more and you might be able to get a prebuilt that can run at medium/low settings but seeing the state of prebuilts, pcs in general tbh too you have to be lucky asf
and some prebuilts aren't even disappointing just funny
i dont really like prebuilts but not all prebuilts have 2021 gpus paired with cpus 500 years old
or the other way around, not all of them have 2021 cpus paired with 500 year old gpus
but if you are willing to scroll long enough yea you'll find some funny crap
search the used market for a PC
@wind creek you smell

Cuz rgb= high fps
Ok guys I have a fucking huge problem and I need everyone's help who is actually serious about helping, my xbox recently shit the bed it wouldnt turn on it only made very faint sounds when I tried to use the power or the eject button this is a first gen xbox it is the one that came out like a month after release maybe not even anyways o thought because of it's old age it was broke I took it apart cleaned it made sure everything was put together and it turned on but the controller kept disconnecting randomly everytime I tried to play with it so my friend let me borrow his and now it's doing the same thing it wont turn on only making faint sounds and I'm not taking it apart until he gives me the go ahead so what the fuck is causing this
Yeah its not dust issue at all
Either PSU in which youre fucked, get a new one
Or its the issue with the HDD being dead
But none of those can be the case because my xbox I took apart and put back together is working fine it just wont keep my controller connected
That's why I dont wanna take my buddies apart because I dont want the same shit to happen to his even tho he already has a xbox one series x
Also it randomly makes a faint sound while it's in this state
Like it's trying to power on randomly but cant

trying to install and confugure nginx on a ubuntu server in school but when i do "sudo systemctl status" it says degraded, is that bad?
You need to check why it says degraded
Might be some stupid Canonical-telemetry.d failing, might be something legitimately problematic, could be a harmless message being logged as an error
@fading atlasRun just systemctl and it should show which service has the problem
mfw I realize it was just a symbolic link I had misspelled
o
teacher removed a link in "sites-enabled" to "sites-available" and then added it back but I misspelled it as sites-abailable
abailable, ack
small typo on a symbolic link is good though
can anyone help me find a gaming laptop for warzone and gta rp £600 new (argos, curry, Hp
Hey does anybody know any good pc to buy i play gta and plan on making videos I live in Australia and have never played pc before
Budget?
2 grand probs liek at a very push
I can check I’m in QLD Australia
Being able to get a GPU is the hardest at the moment, the rest of the PC can be done for $800 or less. If getting the GPU at a good price is impossible, you'll sorta have to skimp on the other parts
Ok so what the main stuff I need to make my pc run good
Buy Scorptec Hailstorm RTX 3060 Gaming PC | Ready to Run PCs | Scorptec Computers
Scorptec Hailstorm RTX 3060 Gaming PC, AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6 Core, AMD B550 Chipset, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, 2TB HDD, Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Case, 650W PSU, Win 10 Home at Scorptec.com.au, the online Gaming PC, server computer and technology experts. Fast delivery to Australia.
Is this good
Am I allowed to send that link in this group chat
For playing GTA, not much, just decent singlethread speeds. For video recording, definitely an RTX GPU, for their hardware encoders. The rest likely doesn't need anything much more from those
You can send links here. That system looks good, but is likely very overpriced
Wait so what do I want for smooth gta
A PC without the GPU (like this https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/bHK3nL) is under $800. Noting the 5600G/X being $100 more and the board being some $20-$20 more, this puts the 3060 at $1000 in that prebuilt, which you can probably get for cheaper in another prebuilt or with stock notifications
I just want to play games smoothly
your budget is more than enough for smooth games, that's not an issue really
Oh what
Is 1 grand good for pc to run games
Cause I just wanna play games and be able to store a lot of games
But not to many
We're currently in a situation where prices are the worst they've been in a whole decade, but yes
arguably you could go lower than 1k AUD if we weren't having production/stock/pandemic problems right now, but its pretty bad atm
If you have the higher budget, its worth, since cheaper parts aren't being produced at all
So just look for these types of parts in a prebuilt and buy it
Oh ok right Thankyou
Look for the cheapest thing you can find in your preferred store with an RTX 3060, 3060ti, 3070, or higher in it, and send some links
nothing else will be as important as finding a GPU, they're 3x-4x their normal price. That PCPP link shows just how insignificant in price all the other parts are in comparison
Ok Thankyou I shall look now and get back to you in this chat in 5-10 minutes ?
ye
Ok
I don’t know what shops to check
I checked jb hi fi

They are all way expensive
Not in Australia so I don't really know much about the market, but are these sites accessible? https://www.ple.com.au/ https://www.scorptec.com.au/ https://www.pcbyte.com.au/ https://www.bpctech.com.au/ https://www.jw.com.au/
Yes and I will try now
How to find a GPU
Find the cheapest prebuilt with the card you want then that ☝️
Also graphics card are more expensive because of chip shortage, don't expect to find for MSRP unless you have a miner best friend
Is an rtx 2060 bad compared to the 3060 for what we talked about @brave field
Not bad, but it should be significantly cheaper if you're considering
I’ll check it
Will it effect my game play
Cause I just want a pc to play games and some what make YouTube videos
Yes, the 2060 is weaker than the 3060
Its still more than capable of running everything out right now

Overpriced I think hmmm
Comes out to the GPU being a bit over $1100 AUD, nah
With 1950AUD I bought 3060Ti + B560 + 10400F
From where and is that good
I'm in Canada, I bought from Newegg
But you can find 3060s on newegg and build on top of it
Oh
Amazon.com.au: 3060 Ti
I would build pc
I think building is more logical
But idk what to put in it
Cause imports (as a whole) have more tax on them no?
Like what stuff do I put
No idea I’m new to pc and cookie is helping me decide on what to buy
Right now intel would be 11400F + B560 + the 3060/3060Ti
Or 2060Ti/Super if you can find
AMD would be 5600x + B550 + the graphics cards above
You can also try building stuff here https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/
Oh yeah cookie built one before for me I think
I will try build one now based on you and cookies suggestions
the best just because of that case
idc about price or specs
We can summon the other insert functional name here
And ask him xd
But as far as I know, Australian import taxes are way too much
Yea
Anyways, as Cookie said look for graphics cards; both second hand market and the websites
System Builder - Core i5-10400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core, MasterBox NR600 (w/o ODD) ATX Mid Tower - PCPartPicker
This is what cookie sent
Is it good
I trust him but as many people say yes the better
That PCPP link shows just how insignificant in price all the other parts are in comparison
GPU goes first, entire rest of the system second
yes
get your hands on the closest to a decently-priced RTX GPU, and worry about the rest later
Same with prebuilts, care about GPUs first
Ok
I would want to buy a pre built thoe
I think
I think
And it’s easier and the more I learn about pc and more educated I get is when i would build one

I like this one a lot
Have I sent it yet
It's a bit overpriced I think
Like you can put that 3060 OC (1000$ Amazon AU) with the rest of what we said for 1600$
What is OC
And if you don't know how to assemble, either watch videos or ask a pro to do it for you
Overclocked by factory
I’m confused
any pc over 1k will run everything fine as long as its not one of those gt 710 builds or 1050
I will assemble it or get a store for me
Ok

Does anyone know something similar with a RTX 3060
AMD RX6700/RX6600xt
No I mean does anyone know a cheap prebuilt with an RTX 3060 in it
This is one I can think of https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/XRFTbh
And here's the card you should buy asap
only 3 left
These are the parts you need to get, yes all of them makes your whole case as in tower
Then you'll need a monitor
Keyboard and mouse. and done.
And oh thermal paste
System Builder - Core i5-11400F 2.6 GHz 6-Core, GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB VENTUS 2X, LANCOOL 205 Mesh ATX Mid Tower - PCPartPicker
That is a whole pc
And arctic silver thermal paste to put on top of CPU between the fan and CPU
But buy that 3060 yeah
Ok
Welp Thankyou a lot @jovial tide and @brave field
🤝
Seeing the RTX is 1k
I cannot purchase that right now
Haha
I will buy the pc next year and send a pic when I get it Thankyou very much
Oh next year everything will be different
You might also wanna look into GTX 1660; this shortage is gonna last, so taking time won't help much.
oh yeah, next year none of this will be relevant
Really in just 3-4 months things are going to change quite a bit
I don't have my hopes up
They'll say shortage, price of 2060, 3060, and 4060 will still be similar
Miners are gonna buy in mass; therefore GPU shortage as well.
Unless when my mum wakes up I ask how much I have in savings
That's the good side
Like my prediction is board+cpu+rams will be better but for gamers it's gonna get worse.
It's gonna be great for repairshops thought 😉 and miners as well. people will start buying second hand cards a lot, and fix them alot too.

Well I’m going to ask mum when she wakes up and I’ll text you guys pics if I get it one day cya have a good day thanks for all the help 😁
Think about it Cookie
You can find lots of good prebuilt "shells" and miner cards that won't last that long.
Of the 4 largest increases in mining so far, none of them have resulted in hardware that doesn't last long
I'm thinking making a company specializing in GPU repairs would help a lot.
Idk I've seen some people having problems on reddit
Nothing in 2012, nothing in late 2015, nothing in 2017, why now?
Well covid + china's scheduling + harder and harder and harder hashes
harder hashes just means you'll need to use a stronger GPU to complete it quickly, it doesn't push already running ones harder
Exactly
So they will sell the older ones, like their 3070s, 2060-2070s and so on to replace with newer cards
Besides, these sell for considerable amount + don't have warranty
seeing no connection between durability here but hopefully Nvidia has relatively poor sales in 2024-2025 and start making budget GPUs again
Umm, connection is the warranty
Putting a warranty on top of a device is a calculated decision; usually it starts to break after.
And I don't mean not working, degrading by a lot is a part of it.
Still not seeing how miniscule degradation on a card that functions like-stock is going to cause an instant increase in repairs for cards under 5 years old, but not having warranty is unfortunate.
Nvidia is going to keep prices high regardless of how consumers act
Nobody does really
Like if I bring a card that used to do 1900MHz now barely does 1600MHz max to a repair shop; they would say this is working no problem with it.
But is it?
300mhz drop is definitely not like-stock
Yeah but it works
I think the dump of used 1060s/580's in the market once budget RTX GPUs are going to bring that sort of change though

They're legitimately older and under heavier use, but with how boosting is handled, it's probably most visible through power consumption
Testing Games regularly fakes videos, nah
See, the card above for example
is running at 86 degrees after 1.5 years; repaste + changing pads would help it a lot
Note the complete and total lack of information regarding mining here
It says this
nothing?
They mention the word once
Mining what currency? What temps? What clock speeds? What memory speed? What mining program? 24/7?
Oh we don't know
This could be literally any GPU running underclocked as more bait for blogspam websites
We just know this card tried to make hashes at maximum capacity maybe
For ~5 years mining programs have been automatically undervolting Nvidia cards and decreasing difficult if the GPU's core temp goes above 70C
But as a large scale miner why would you care?
but there's no stats here, not even a full sentence to point at it being mined on
Like people are still gonna buy it at a decent price, and deal with the problems themselves.
as a large scale miner you wouldn't care, so you wouldn't go out of your way to recompile with the automatic undervolting disabled? What do you mean?
Its infinitely more work to damage a card than not to
Yes you can clean the fans periodically, do maintenance; but let's be honest most of these cards are replaced within if not right after 2 years
If I had mining farms, I wouldn't bother limiting the performance by temp
2 degrees below maximum temp is fine + undervolt to make it more profitable (for me)
Nobody would bother limiting, its automatic and built in by default. Not saying there's no chance of damage somewhere of course, GDDR6 temps going into the 100C range, while entirely safe, is still worrying
but this video has 0 credibility, from a channel that routinely fakes their benchmarks, hard to use that as a source
Between lolminer/TeamRedMiner/NanoMiner/NBminer/the mining distros decreasing difficulty on their own >70C and memory doing most of the work for ETHash-based coins, why would core damage be so likely on cards used 2 years as most?
We're also missing stats on when Monero was mined on GPUs in 2017, when XMRig didn't bother to limit hardware if temperatures got high. There's a complete lack of posts or videos about GPUs or CPUs running at lower frequencies from there, why?
@jovial tide Do you have info on how long a card has to be at max temp while overclocked to be damaged?
Closest I've found of anything reliably reporting GPU damage ever was when Nvidia and AMD started limiting Furmark in their drivers, since it pulled too much power though the PCB and annoyed the traces when overclocked. If you have more sources, could you link, so I could read?
See
The answer to why comes back to use, a gamer would play like some hours (me maybe 2-4 hours a day) vs a miner would use the guy to its maximum 24/7
And that gamer sometimes gets into trouble, RMAing or repairing his card. so I wouldn't be surprised. Why? I don't know really.
I wish we could pass this to someone in a spot to get this research info
That would be great, that would help a lot
Like after all the videos after "should you buy gpu from miners" we still don't know.
someone both with experience mining long-term and experience testing cards to the fullest. Outside of personal anecdotes on questionable forums and LTT/GamersNexus going "Yes, mined on GPUs are safe" a few years back, we have nothing but the r/pcmasterrace "I got a DOA card and I'm 99% sure it was mined on in the factory and not just a defect. I'm not going to file an RMA, be mad for me and spam ASUS' twitter!"
LTT said the problem is cooling
If the miner doesn't keep their cards well cooled they will degrade; and because of lack of stress to the GPU (constant hashing) they are less likely to be dmged
Thanks World of Tanks for sponsoring today's video! Use invite code TANKMANIA at https://tanks.ly/3w3Wx7B and get the Excelsior Tier 5 tank, 250,000 credits, 7 days premium access plus 3 rental tanks for 10 battles each
Between scalpers and cryptocurrency miners, its been really tough to buy a graphics card. But soon, we could see a flood of us...
A straight "Worst case scenario" study with a poor bin (opposite of winning the silicon lottery-type) before and after running a consistent workload on its core with findings being recorded monthly for 4 years would be interesting
Even with LTT/GN conclusions, the conclusions are just so limited. LTT mentions currencies that have never been GPU-mineable or Bitcoin, which stopped being mined on GPUs back in 2014, and GN didn't go very far into what the workload was
Comparing Furmark to mining, what does it even achieve
I wish I knew the answer
But the general thought about everything sold is, if it's used industrially; it'll get dmged more (and that's why warranties expire if they figure out it's used for industrial purposes)
Doesn't mining treat cards better than gaming, since thermal stress from heating up and cooling down isn't a factor?
Obviously, you would need to clean, repaste, and change thermal pads, but I think after that's all done, the mining card would last longer than a gaming card, assuming they didn't overheat the memory.
The fans can take a beating depending on the model, but that's a pretty accepted take. Thermal cycling is bad for surface mounted components on the PCB
Mining causes cards to run 24/7, so there isn't any thermal cycling with the exception of occasional maintenance.
yupyup
Personally, when I see massive rigs with a ton of cards all mining, I don't think "oh, they're ruining those cards." Instead, I think "Wow, he's contributing to the already worsening gpu pricing."
which part is confusing? I am terrible at explaining, but I can try, if you'd like.
youre first defining two functions (double and void thing) then write your actual program which uses those functions
I'm a python scrub, but I think the square(double x) function does the arithmetic, the print_square(double x) prints a string with the output of the function square(double x), and the main function calls the print_square(double x). Correct me if I'm incorrect.
im glad we agree
double square(double x) accepts any number with the double type and multiplies it by itself
print_square(double x) prints "The square of {the number you entered as x here} is {the value of x squared here}"
The main() function says to run print_square() and pass 1.234 as x
main() runs first, gets to print_square(1.234), where it prepares the string "The square of 1.234 is," executes square(1.234) and gets 1.522756, and then throws that onto the end of the string. "The square of 1.234 is 1.522756" is printed, and then main() finishes
Or I'm completely wrong and am misguiding you and suck
I have very limited experience with c/cpp, only having to work with it on some simple arduino projects.
I absolutely hate that they just put "x" everywhere
I only have experience with python and assembly.
whats wrong with using x everywhere in this case
imagine not knowing C
I dunno, I feel it would be annoying tracing what x is referring to if you aren't used to it. A tasteful "doubleToSquare" or something could be easier on a basics guide, no?
So before i buy this thing would it work?
What i plan to do is buy a usb hdmi adapter and plug into my laptop and then into my monitor and have both my ps and laptop on the monitor also would the speakers from my laptop work aswell or no?
should work, except maybe audio
Does your laptop not have an HDMI port?
No
I might have to say fuck it and get a speaker aswell
But then where am i gonna plug my mouse into
I'd have to get a splitter and have numerous ports
What type of USB ports do you have on your laptop?
Actually, screw it, pull up "system Information" and let us know what the "system model" is.
Please
I'd like to see what I/O options you have.
anyone talk about math in here?
Nobody
pure math
Define that exactly? Algebra? Geometry? Calculus?
Trigonometry
Yea, sure all of those. Not sure how to define, but not something having to do with physical things in real life like computers or bitcoin (code)
Oh im sure someone here would be able to help but that's out of my area of expertise
There's occasional trigonometric and calculus questions that pop up here.
Im more geometry and algebra than anything
Way too dumb for all the advanced shit
You kinda get forced into it when going for a CS degree.
It's gotten to the point where it's second-nature though.
Im thinking of going for Informational Technology
But if not maybe Marine Bio
IT definitely requires calculus. Not sure about marine bio, but you will have to do chemistry.

Hey Skizz, how do you eat corn on a cob? Side to side, or rotating?
just tag me for those questions bros
Why?
I'll tell you after
I haven't had corn on a cob in years
So i dont remember
You don't have some like, drive to eat it one way or another?!
I
I grill it, peel it, lather it in butter, then eat it with my hands grabbing on the ends.
With your hands how, though? In rows or spirals up down?
The butter and grilling sounds delicious btw
Doesn't matter.
bruh
The key to a good corn-on-the-cob is grilling it while it's still in the husk.
Keeps the moisture inside.
google "corn algebra analysis", i can't post links
basically if you like calculus more, you will eat it in spirals, and if you like algebra more you will eat it in rows (like more = more naturally inclined)
and it's not a joke. literally everyone i've ask in math falls under these two if they do either field
I just don't put any special meaning on eating corn.
but the meaning is in the organization
like how you choose to fly under bridges in gta or whatever if you're not just copying a guide
I just.... fly under bridges in the same way. I don't attach any meaning other than the satisfaction of flying under that bridge.
i agree with you there, just can't find a great analogy on the spot. the pattern in which you do meaningless things sometimes is meaningful. not the thing itself
Maybe there is a set pattern to it, but I never actively think about it.
I never remember it.
i don't eat corn enough to remember either, tbh. i just know what my answer was a long time ago and remember
My brain automatically marks it as irrelevant.
makes sense
Now, doing specific patterns for min-max reasons, those are relevant.
Hell, I even min-max coding via patterns, using subroutines.

best settings for low end pc on gta online dm3
normal everything, high texture, directx11, no grass/AA/post processing/motion blur?
There's a mini displayport on the right side, use that for video output.
Use a mini displayport to hdmi adapter.
Works much better than a usb 3.0 to hdmi adapter, and frees up one of your two usb ports
On top of that, displayport provides audio too, and works with a DP to hdmi adapter.
Fuuuuuuck
I bought a USB to hdmi adapter already

ouch
Can i still use it for what i intend?
Yeah, but you'll be limiting yourself with your usb ports
Are you able to try returning it though?
I'm not sure about amazon return policy, but places like walmart and best buy have a 15 day return policy iirc.
Eh
Dont need the usb port anyways
Alright. Well, I don't recommend doing anything like gaming on it, but watching videos should be fine.
That's all i want
Is to be able to watch youtube on my monitor
Ok, then you should be good.
So I am needing help every time when I click on gta from steam the rockstar logo shows up but it freezes then it says error??? idk what that means but I'm trying to get help and I don't want scammed and i don't wanna have to pay money PLZ help thank you
Verify game files
Thanks gus
@cold elbow how much bandwidth is that cable capable of?
a few Tbps i assume?
@agile siren hello Ajay
@civic cloud hello Gauss
turns out it isnt even a usb
now im def gonna have to tell me dad we bought the wrong and get the right thing
i have no fucking clue what it is but it isnt a usb
unless it is a plug for display port
cuz it said hdmi to display port
which i never noticed
trying proxmox
setup is difficult and being begged for money the second I open the web interface is awful
but GPU passthrough is so simple! And audio in KVM! and NoVNC integration!

Cheap laptops will still be unimpressive for gaming
I bought and played GTA on a mx150 at first though
3370 score for 2050/mx570 and 2510 for mx550
@cold elbow This normal? Using Icue for my cooler and the pump is spiking like that
There a lot of settings for the pump i guess and it depends on your temperature target
One of the settings supposed to be the change in speed delay
And i just noticed that the range on that chart is too small so u shouldn't care
On the other hand it might be a lot of speed
wtf
Oh, yup, that won't physically work. You need mini displayport to hdmi.
