any good cpus? in a $500 budget?
In my opinion, the best cpus are with Ryzen, ou shouldd be able to get one within your budget which us better than the intel alternative
500 budget just for the CPU?🤨
If you're not talking about taxes, I would recommend buying the ryzen 5 5800x which is exactly in your buget
Actually I was wondering about that too
Anyone know a good website or something for beginning javascript coders? I started but haven't found anything good for learning it
Dude asked a question and then left

i cant remote to it because no display is connected ... and i have to buy a dummy adapter
What did you expect out of the penguin?
FUCK THIS SHIT
Lmao
it's always simple things that triggers me
Why you using Linux? 🤔
Ah. GTX 1650, 16 GB, DDR3, Gateway H57M01 (CPU 1)

Use XRDP for Windows clients and any sort of VNC or X11 forwarding otherwise. For docker commands, just use SSH. A desktop environment makes it harder to use. Don't use a dummy display adapter for anything, they're entirely redundant.
Your support question, use Debian, though Ubuntu has more forum posts and Arch has a larger wiki. Debian is super stable and can use almost anything Ubuntu/Linux Mint/Pop_OS!/Elementary OS have. All the APT commands are the same, and you can use their installers, stackoverflow answers, wikis, IRC chats, and sometimes their repos (watch for dependency conflicts though)
@cold elbow Can you describe your setup some?
Wanted to make use of an old system as a server
So I installed popOS and was planning on throwing it somewhere then remote access it by let's say anydesk
But that gives me a black screen because no monitor connected to it
Only way is to use a dummy adapter or some complex way to create a fake monitor
Once again i waste tooo much time trying to solve a simple issue with linux
Anydesk is not made for servers
unless you go with their paid version designed for use in cloud services like Azure or GCP or AWS
Pop_OS! is a bit strange for a server setup too
Do you need your remote display to output audio?
I just want to remote to it locally since i want to work on it from my computer
It works fine with my windows server
I like your thoughts
Do work through SSH. If you can't work in SSH, do work on your non-server system, and store the results of your work on the server. If you can't use that, XRDP/VNC will always work without a fake monitor. If you can't use those, spin up a VM and remote into that. This is really an Anydesk problem, no?
Know what its called?
I'm using Lubuntu desktop for my VM server and don't see
Ahh yes more distros
Lubuntu is Ubuntu with LXQT as the desktop environment, identical to Ubuntu otherwise
but really, use Debian or Ubuntu server
they always work and they're pretty much the same thing minus Canonical's telemetry and snaps
heavily suggest XRDP
I prefer anydesk because i can set it up in like 1 minute
And be able to connect from anywhere
Remote Control and file transfer
It's also fast
Does it work without a monitor tho
I think you may have to use some sort of VM if you have to use Anydesk. Anydesk just doesn't support headless systems
xRDP is alllllmost perfect, there's just no sound by default (obligatory neofetch)
Windows doing it just fine
And i noticed that the requirements for trueNAS is now 16gb ram
Minimum
Works on Windows through RDP shadowing, maybe there's something similar with xrdp but I have no clue
TrueNAS, why considering? It has a web interface but you can't access it outside of your network without port forwarding, and BSD has much worse support for something proprietary like Anydesk than Linux
you'll lose remote desktop going for it, you only need containers though?
If so, why not go for a Linux instead of a BSD?
Docker doesn't even support BSDs anymore
Nas is just another project
ah
I want a system with desktop environment mainly for remote access
Think of it as a VPS
oh
VPS services achieve it using VMs as well, doing it on a base install is a bit problematic, hmm
xrandr can make a virtual display output, then
xserver-xorg-video-dummy looks like it should do it, a few people are saying it works for anydesk
config file is well-documented and is in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
The remote display situation could definitely be better though, and I 100% agree that its frustrating (Parsec, why can you randomly not host on Linux anymore?!)
Hey, that's what I have set up on my home server.
And yeah, that's the only way to get anydesk to work on linux on a headless machine.
The downside? They detect that you're connecting to a linux environment and automatically assume you're using it for business purposes.
Bartor! Hello!
oh
I was asking if you had or recommend any poweredge/proliant models
same for routers/modems/switches
I'm able to search for local deals again and want to replace my old junk with better stuff
Unsure, I bet you have a more recent server machine than I do.
Raspberry pi 3A+ with a dead/corrupt SD card, i3 4120 Dell prebuilt I got out of a scrapyard for $2
They don't suck but neither are good for installing more than one hard drive, I really want either a real server so I can get cheap SAS pulls or a mobo so I can throw drives in a case I have
I have a dell workstation with a xeon e5-1603 running as my server.
Spent $50 on that one.
And spent another $150 for the 8tb HDD for my media server on it xD
Just checked the model it's a precision T3600
Honestly, if you're not going massively overkill, I'd recommend checking out businesses that are liquidating their old hardware, that's where I got mine.
That's a really nice system, and with the option of an 8c16t CPU!
Where do you find business liquidation?
I found it from my local classifieds.
In my case, I went to ksl.com and checked out the classifieds section.
Not sure if you have that option.
Thanks

Hey I need a new keyboard, it needs to be full factor and have red switches with swappable keycaps. Full RGB and preferably wireless under 200 nzd(so like 150 usd)
Wireless keyboard 🤨
rk920
If ure a gamer you better forget abt wireless mouse/keyboard
there are actually wireless mouse and keyboards that have a faster response time than wired
razor is pretty good for that kind of thing
:doubt:
Why do people hate wireless lol
It's not the 90s anymore wireless stuff works well
yeah ligit
Still gotta change batteries
My mouse is a razer wireless one and only cost me 60 usd
I dont hate it, just not good for gaming, imagine ur battery gets exhausted in middle of an online game
Good thing widows telss you're when the battery is almost empty
Legit told me my mouse battery was on 5% and I just replaced the battery
even then, it interrupts your gameplay
Yea for like 10 seconds
wired can get in the way a lot and having wireless frees up a couple of usb ports for other things like a web cam and usb sticks for things like a windows repair
I got USB ports for days, cba with changing batteries
I can't think of any game where a 10 secons distribution is that big of an issue
tactically reloads mouse
Exactly
or you could just get one that can charge and have it sit there over night charging
Yea but this cost like twice as much as ones that use batteries
besides a mouse doesn't suck up a ton of power. like compared to a controller for consoles a mouse' power usage is god tier
Yea I have had my mouse for 2 years and only needed to replace the batteries twice
And one of them was last week
i just spent like the last 6 hours converting 80 something songs from .mp3 to .wav just to get better sound quality
there are actually wireless mouse and keyboards that have a faster response time than wired
having wireless frees up a couple of usb ports
spent like the last 6 hours converting 80 something songs from .mp3 to .wav just to get better sound quality
nuff said
That
Wat happened?
Makes no sense
None of the three things make sense
But #1 is disputable
#2 would make sense if any of these damn peripheral makers let us have a beefier receiver that can receive keyboard and mouse
#3 is just plain stupid
wireless mouse/keyboard are 'occasional/portable' devices used for situations that make sense like for someone who travels and types alot with their laptop, or for times when you connect pc to ur home tv, or control DVR devices etc, not for everyday use for desktop PC
logitech have a unified receiver thing b ut i don't think it's a good enough tier for pro mlg sports gamers
I'm sorry but that input lag would ruin my skills in CSGO with my laptop and 50hz screen
what happened to arash
Me either
probably to assume he got banned
After long digging trying to install trueNAS the only way was by installing an old version of freeNAS them upgrade it to trueNAS 12
Let's see if it's going to work
poor Arash :(
300 IQ
well it's working now
arash is banned?
why?
Idk
news be like
: 7900XT might consume 500W , epic and cool performance everyone should wait and buy it
: 4090 might consume 550-600W, what the fuck is Nvidia thinking? they except people to get fucking 1200w psu?
guys... windows has the on-screen keyboard function... is there any way to use this with my controller? to be able to put in text, or simply chat, while not using the keyboard
Learn how to use the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) instead of a physical keyboard to type and enter text on your PC.
it says "select the options key" there literally is no options key, except the one that leads to the input-settings from windows, and thats another thing... at least looks like
ah nvm
i had a whole different on screen keyboard... weird
What about pressing "winkey-ctrl-o"?
this is the one that the shortcut opens, the one that seems to be the one that the website refers to
this is the one i always used
Maybe that one comes with the xbox game bar or something.
weird... thanks tho
NP
arash vaporized huh?
Why is it so hard to find i7 4702mqs 😭
Out of production, sure, but they barely exist under $100 used too
u mean 4720?
This written in python (bad quality cus screenshot from images)
So in c++ would the code be roughly the same amount of lines or down to like 10-20?
@cold elbow nop, 4702
4712mq would do too
Really want an 8 thread in my laptop for WSL2
There has to be some obscure, non-English website where they're selling them for $30 somewhere
Never heard of that
o
socketable mobile CPU, I wish they still existed
makes for a thick laptop but its nice having options
Lenovo?
Vaio
So... My uncle just gave me a couple of his old AIOs.
HP Pavillion AIO with an Intel I7-8700T, 12gb DDR4-sodimm, and a 1tb hdd
Apple iMac with an Intel I5-7360u, 8gb DDR4, 256gb ssd and a 1tb hdd.
I think I should sell the iMac, but should I part out the HP or sell it?
The processor on the HP isn't soldered, I disassembled it to verify that.
You don't want to salvage the imac?
I mean, it works, and I'm sure most of the parts are soldered on the logic board.
Well yeah but what I meat was, you don't want to keep it?
It's a pretty good machine
No, I don't have a use for it.
nvm, looks like the CPU and RAM aren't soldered on.
They aren't but getting to them is a pain
But... apple products still sell really well, especially near university campuses.
And there's two universities less than 50 miles from me.
I guess I could put an ad on my local classifieds or advertise on my uni's discord.
sell the mac
ebay buys all apple products at their original MSRP
The Pavilion, have a friend or family member or neighbor? They don't seem to sell super well used
8700t is awesome but I don't see the other parts making >$100
@brave field Would it be a good idea to throw in a cheap m.2 ssd in the pavilion? I've noticed there's an unpopulated slot when I was tearing it apart, and in my experience win10 runs terrible on a HDD.
If selling out to just anyone, no
but if you have someone who can immediately use it, I think that's worth
I heard that old macs can be a good home media server
So yeah they worth something
what kinda question is that!
I'm asking if i write all that in c++ would it still be as long or code gets reduced to about 20 lines
Currently working on a presentation for online gaming, and I wanna include what kind of hardware servers have that are owned by Ubisoft, EA, R*, PS, Xbox, etc.
Any useful sources?
most of EA and Xbox runs Azure
@worthy schooner
They're using Cloud?
Ok, and any sources on what Azure runs on?
Or do you have a source I can use for that? @kindred temple
Might be able to just write azure support and ask them
They usually show off with what hardware they use
considering there is more than one method to implement a program in each language, it is highly depending on the program and also the abilities of the developer. a 50-line-code program in python wont necessarily be reduced to like 10-line-code program in c++
i just wrote hello world in java and now im goining to get programming job
also gtx 970 or gtx 1050
which should i buy

R* runs on peer to peer but dont know about authentication servers tho
kk
3.5
Me: searches for gtx 970
Amazon: gt 710, fuck you
i think imma buy second hand
I would
not gonna pay msrp rn
probably would need ot rip out my kidney to buy msrp
The 970 isn't manufactured anymore
And added 870 evo 500gb ssd

second hand is the only reasonable option for it, ye
Gtx 970 i5 4690k 16gb ddr3 2tb hdd gang
62 dollars in shipping
bro wtf
are there any i5 7400 7th gen compatible motherboards
?
That I know, but I was hoping to answer the question:
How much RAM, or what kind of CPUs, GPUs, etc. does a Server need?
For a AAA-Game.
might help idk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS1FcT93Qy8&vl=en
Thanks to Shadow for sponsoring today's video! Check them out at https://lmg.gg/c2eqf
Cloud gaming is getting more popular, and we're not strangers in how they work, but have you actually thought about what the hardware looks like when you play games or whatever on them? We convinced Shadow to send us one of their units, and they actually agree...
really dont know about server equipment

Anything Z270, H270, B250 and their 1xx variants should work @unborn crane
That linus video is for running remote game clients, not something like the backend for games
then the shop keeper increased the price right when i was about to buy it
absolute fucking monster
Already added that to my sources.
alr
I'd imagine the standard for things is Xeon/EPYC sorts of processors, with some Nvidia or ARM processors for datacenter use
Figured. It didn't help much.
Is this related to the game server topic? Just to make sure.
yes
idk dont do server shit
likely a system with 2 EPYC or Xeon processors with no GPU at all and 2TB+ of ram
i hate prebuilts man
but depending on how they deal with their data storage, maaaaybe an Nvidia Axxx GPU
not for any graphics output, just compute
this dell prebuilt im using has such a shit mother board and psu
Ah right. My platform will handle graphics.
gonna try removing the cpu and putting it into a new pc
The game servers will only handle data then.
hit reg and shit like probably yeah
I worked on something. I might get two screenshots rq.
*note no proof of use specifically for games though, but these and processors like it are used for many, many other server workloads
I know, I'm putting these into tons of HPE server configs. lol
1st pic is just to give an example of what servers have to calculate in a 3D environment.
2nd was an attempt to explain how inputs are handled by a server.
And trying to tie it together with the ISO/OSI layer model.
- User input - W key
- input encoded into binary
- code is packaged and prepared for IP transport
- TCP readjusts packages in correct order
5 - 7) input is sent to session / host application.
Same way vice versa, server responds to input.
game networking sounds like a nightmare to work on
@brave field Correct me if I'm wrong.
i got confused where to start reading it from
some things are verified by the client and others by the server
how people balance them both to deal with latency problems is strange
Then there's also the topic of "handlers".
Like, deciding who shot first in a FPS.
ah yes
Btw, this is all in PowerPoint. Hand-made.
nice
client 1 says it shot first, client 2 says it shot first, client 3 says they killed each other at the same time, server says no shots were made or received at all
all in a split second, even though the players all have 40ms+ ping
Package loss in a nutshell
By the time you saved up, they'll only get more expensive.
just wait for the revolution
snip snip
RTX 4070 cough
For all I know, scalpers can be mad.

Old news

Also, Kotaku.
i got ratioed + fell off
@kindred temple hiiii
Gaussssss
@kindred temple Should I also put on my christmas pfp already?
Fuck it.
all i want for chirstmas is a gpu
Done.
funny hat
Might start working on a program to read and execute lambda calculus
I don't need to fuck about with Turing completeness as it is inherently Turing complete and everything is in a prefix notation
all I need to provide is a TRUE and FALSE function
\TRUE.x.y -> x
\FALSE.x.y -> y
Windows installing update on this old core i7 laptop with 8 threads
It's only fully using 1 thread
Windows bruh moment
kinda like compiling gentoo but forgetting -j4
Everything depends on something else in Windows, it will only get worse with 11
To update one thing, you have to update its Microsoft Teams-base, and to update that, you have to update Edge webview, and to update that, Microsoft pushes a full kernel upgrade
I like being able to control my updates 🙂
with your package manager
sudo xbps-install -Syu
how do you get one package from another repo without that repo being searched up when you update the package list?
o huh, interesting
although THE repo is massive
Wondering for Fedora, Debian, and Arch
I add one non-free repo for an Intel extension, and suddenly have 34000 packages to update
would be lame if I just have to get that one package, then remove the repo link again
well I guess void has the nonfree and multilib (32 bit) repos that are built in that must be enabled
you can install the package you want, then disable the repo in 'sources.list'
or (this might seem abit silly
) you can hold all the packages from that repo with 'apt-mark hold'
there may be other solutions which im not aware
heading to the repo's site and manually grabbing the package despite the red text saying to add the repo url
or yea, download the specific sources u need and compile and install it
good luck fixing all the dependency trees it needs
Is there anyone here who is familiar with JS?
What do you need help with? (I'm awful at JS but having the question out in the channel may make it easier for someone experienced to help)
So I'm using an LC-3 simulator located at this web address for one of my classes:
https://wchargin.com/lc3web/
And I had an idea for implementing an assembler instruction named ".STRINGZP" which would act just like ".STRINGZ" except pack 2 ASCII values into each memory location instead of 1.
Web-based simulator for the LC-3 (Little Computer 3)
The idea came to me while I was looking at some possible bug fixes for the PUTSP trap instruction.
Right now, the assembler info is located in a file called "lc3_as.js" when inspecting the HTML on that page.
I'm gonna throw the contents of that JS file into a txt and link it here.
So far, for reserving the required memory space, I think this would work:
return operand.length/2 + operand.length%2 + 1;```
But I'm a complete newb in JS, this is literally the first time I've started to mess with it.
For a comparison, this is the option for .STRINGZ:
return operand.length + 1; // for the null-terminator```
I'll likely be taking Web1 next or following semester, which delves into JS.
I'm gonna revisit it over TS break and see if I can wrap my mind around it.
To clarify, I meant Thanksgiving break.
Not sure what you meant by TS there.
ah
its JavaScript with static types
sort of...
without types and in a large team of developers things get ugly

fanboys never disappoint
They're right though
Can't confuse it with the new and improved Clever Access Memory!
SAM on radeon is a disaster though , i dont think it needs it
"some hours"
@brave field @slim bluff, so I emailed the person who made that LC-3 simulator about a couple bugs with it, and the suggestion to add that instruction to the assembler, and he actually responded asking if I could put it in his Github.
😄
alot , some people dont know some lineups
Dude, I am so gonna throw that on.

There was a major bug with the PUTSP trap subroutine, and a minor one with the HALT trap subroutine.
i like how its just idioting butchering of both sides with no one understanding how shit works
What PUTSP was supposed to do was read all 16 bits in a memory location, then output two ASCII characters on the screen. What it was actually doing was reading bits 7-0 and outputting only that. The issue with HALT was it wasn't saving register 0 and 1 before it stopped the processor.
Maybe instead of memeing them, teach em
Or ya know
iam not like that dude that commented on 300 comments on 1 thread
its fun to watch though
that buy the shit that works for its time
nvidia and amd dont give 2 fucks about you
wtf
1299.99 today!
nice going
oh btw @supple walrus
kek
can i own an apple now?
No
No
Hi everyone
I’m trying to build a pc
Idk what parts I need
Cuz I’m rlly bud at those stuff
if u mind helping me w it dm me:)
No
Damn
post here or bust
Lol my local computer shop does sell rtx cards
Willing to bet its either 2060's 2080's or 1660's in the box
the new sku of 12 gb 2060 might be targeted towards miners
who else needs 12 gb on a 2060
Me playing Factorio on 4K obviously, duh
For a friend, who's looking for a laptop
They want to know whether it's good for the price
Looks like a solid pc for its price
Looks reasonable
Check for reviews how the overall build quality is
Keyboard/screen etc
An F15, pretty nice to run
Pretty much mangled up Zephyrus.

anyone got a 6600xt here?
@forest kestrel I do
Could they find a cheaper one without windows? Or same price but no windows better spec
Also 11th gen somewhat worse than 10th gen

12gb 2060 looks to be a great rendering card
OptiX, possibly cheaper than anything 30 series, with enough VRAM for a decent amount of detail in one scene
WoT who?
World of tanks
I haven't done anything other than unplug and plug in the external drive
No updates
But now the game doesn't load and spits out this error
looks like two files the game needs are missing
might be corrupt from the drive being removed or something while it was writing to them, or the drive is dying, or it has a different drive letter after you plugged it back in
So reinstall the game?
Is the external drive showing up as F:/ in explorer?
Yis
Prior to this I have flushed dns, deleted the %app data, and restarted the pc twice, shut down and turn back on once
Those were previous suggestions
On the forums
Oh and uhh resetting my Nvidia 3d settings to default
You could check if the files actually exist at the paths its looking for and run CDi, but its probably just easiest to use the "verify game files" option in the launcher if its in there
if not, reinstall
forums might be trolling, no relation between dns not being able to find a local file
The company actually suggested deleting the app data and that if it didn't work "we can't help you any further"
appdata is a fair suggestion
I think you avoid it though
appdata is on C:, you have game on F:
unless the game has also made an appdata folder on your F: somewhere, but then you have to find that, as %APPDATA% only directs to your USER account one in C:, in your Windows environment variables
Ayy it works thanks. Doing God's work
anytime friend
Their stupid launcher
Ah
Yeah it's trash lolll
But if it ever happens to a steam game, its an easy fix (missing files) @unreal iron
Is the asus prime z590-p motherboard any good?
I mean.... it does support 3000 series gpu's and 11th gen intel cpu's
And its £200 unless thats too expensive for a motherboard
Prime lineup on Coffee and Comet is just garbage
it wont throttle properly and just run their VRM to the ground
its fine if you keep everything at literal default, but beyond that
its a r s e
Worth it?
So pass on it?
Pretty much. Better off with a solid B560 than them.
£185 and no 5600x, just the 5600g at £260
well then 11400F if you have a GPU laying around
Only priced motherboard on website, others are around £100
Lol no gpu
well then 5600G if you cant find output GPUs for temp usage
Browsing the website to see what i wanna buy before heading into the store and picking up the parts
Well these are all the cpu's available
Pretty sure they have other types in store
wow thats arse

how hot is too hot for my laptop?
i say if you don't have a gpu laying around then get a 5600g
the cpu part of it is alright and the gpu part is much better than intel
thankfully i now have a gpu laying around
above 90 is a lil hot, above 95 is concerning at 99 it throttles
weird flex
ok thx
do laptop cooling pads work?
a bit, wouldnt bet on it
that can be noormal for a laptop
how long have you been using it? might want to clean it
maybe dust is reducing cooling power
Id go with the cheaper option which is the i5 then buy the gpu after
Ima mainly use the pc for GFN and maybe blender and unreal engine and visual studio
@jagged lark Though the 5600G's iGPU is much more powerful for games
Intel may make much more sense depends on how much you use those first two
Geforce Now decodes faster on their iGPUs and blender is entirely unusable on AMD GPUs (unless you start booting into Linux each time you want to use it)
whats a good monitor
for around £130
dont need like 144hz whatever
i only run 60
my monitor is like that rn
is bad
Itll be better than whatever 23 incher you can find on amazon
Iirc 23MK600 by LG is still in that range
Its super barebone for a monitor tbh
Used AOC C24G Could be an option???
Not sure with UK pricing
me watching my I5 sucking 25W while my RX 580 suck 160W
for the millions time that not 400w of electricity is equal 400W of heat
Nobody said otherwise

Does Aliexpress have haggling like Alibaba does?
I'm looking for 2650L + ATX board for under $80 (something like this, minus ram https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001460971049.html)
or one of the lower-power 8 core variants
RX 580 kinda
if that's true
wym
I mean
can I beg the seller for a discount
on alibaba there isn't a payment button at all and many are open to offers
i have not seen something like that but you can contact the sellers
alrighty, thanks
Any recommendation on a 6+ core CPU under 95W TDP that I can get with a board for $80 or less?
Intel has a couple hundred MILLION different lines of weird embedded 8c8t Celeron and such, different Xeons with the same name, the low-TDP -t SKUs having weird pricing, I'm still lost after hours
I'd only slide into your dms :*
definitely would go for 1600, but I'm struggling to find them under $60. $45 R5 1400s though... tempting
1400 is fine, but you gonna need to OC em to get any better value off em than a 1600
moving my server stuff out of this awful dell SFF PC
it seems much cheaper to just find something else than get a 4770 + ATX board with how awful the prices are on ebay
You running it at 1533?
no
steal them
fucking scam lmao
The build came out to £2.8k
I9 11th gen, 3080ti, "frost" cooling and 32gb ram
Oh and windows 10 was added on for £120
i want a laptop with this kind of cooling system
mf looks like a squashed murcielago
its a lambo themed laptop
It will probably still suck
2+2
got a deal on a rx 570 for $50, i have a 1050ti rn, worth it?
Dude, where did you get it? Hell yeah that's worth it!
THat card provides almost double the performance of a 1050 ti
one of my friends is selling his pc and like that

nice deal!
1050ti prices are super inflated used, you might be able to get $180-$200 if you sell it afterwards!
Banned y a s#3958 (Case #128205) (user notified with a direct message)
they tried too hard to make it look like the car, because those vents are comically small for the space available
Mfw
Thats, like half what my pc cost
@brave field
I Need you
Since your good at PCs
I built and am buying my PC parts this week
Its my first ever time getting my own PC
So I have a few questions and I need someone to rate my build!
(Ping me if your there)
Well bet
You dont need to call up cookie for it
Let me get my list

I'll show you
Well yea true lol
Can I send links here?
I dont want a auto ban or something
Are you sure
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/vLTsy4 @jovial tide @civic cloud
Very
Im gonna quickly critisize this over my head, but honestly its so close ill just quickly remap it.
All game no other tasks right?
Wdym
GPU heccing expensive, PSU should be gold not bronze
I mean what you use on it
Like MSFS20 4k, Forza 5, BeamNG, Teardown..
I Want the 240 ngl
I Like smooth
And its a godly offer
144 is plenty smooth if you havent experience it
Oh well erm
Idk about that
Im not good at PCs
I Had help building it
Or atleast
Listing the parts
no its just basic display knowledge and viewing distance
not related to PC at all
But
You cant see the difference bettween 1080 and 4k
You can but not easily
Like from your POV when playing you cant see the difference can you
Yes, the only benefit is when youre looking at static imagery and very low refresh rate content
like old mastered movies at 24.9fps
I Still have my 4k tv tho
I dont wanna watch movies on a small monitor
(Small compared to the TV)
Right okay
This is the best i can muster if you want a PC that can perform now. All you need is an extra mass storage 2TB HDD down the line. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/LKGc3Z
OR, you can go with the 5700G route and add a GPU down the road when the price normalize.
Wait
How about
My PC
But
I change the graphics card with a 3060ti @kindred temple
and 32GB of overkill ram that you wont need
I Want to make it look cool together
except maybe Teardown but iirc its more CPU bounded
you dont get "cool" at sub 2000 euros you naive boy
if it wont make the FPS up, its out.
And besides
aesthetics can be done later.
You need to nail the core components first, especially in this stupid shortage shenanigans.
Well I guess yea
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/Rxk63Z 400 eur spare
use that to get a 3070 when theyre back at their lower price.
or hey maybe you can get some part times and chores to fetch a 3080
Lmao why is he muted
btw Hi Claire :D
@jovial tide welcome back :)
Here, have at it.
Hello
Whys 1TB 2x more expensive than 2TB 💀
Because nvme
And instead of dramless TLC now its DRAM TLC with a decent controller built in.
because that 10 less seconds of boot time with nvme
@kindred temple whats an affordable 1tb nvme i can get?
kinda like the idea of 5600G or 10400F and using the extra on a GPU, if having great graphics performance immediately is important
amazon black friday nvme
cost about half the price
Mushkin Enhanced Helix
Or the Team Cardea Zero
clean install your os
change your passwords, use a password manager, etc.
How?
i made new discord account
and i scanned my pc it says no viruses found even tho somehow the person can still control my pc
Turn your pc off start it up pay attention to what it says when it boots and shows a button u need to press to go into bios then boot reset again spam that key once your in bios boot into safe mode from there
Nah its like the main settings
ok ima go into it
Safe mode means it only starts basic stuff
do i do that or
Yeah safe mode then delete whatever u downloaded
But factory reset would be better for the pc
hm
i got back from High up in the police force they are going to do a IT malware scan
and will make sure everything is fine
Oh after that you should go to hospital and ask a psychiatrist for a stress management.

na i dont need i just need this dumb ass IP hacker in a cell
One down million will turn up
just dont be an idiot and stay vigilant of anyone you meet on the internet.

get to know em first.
Instructions unclear, ghosted everyone
maybe but first you need to stop clicking on free nitro scams
But they said they would give me free nitro for a year 🥺
i dont click on links
they did it in dms
lmao
no they got my IP awhile go
Ok chances are ur files r all gone
So give up
First
Change your bank details and all account details
Second
Clean install windows
meanwhile in China
What
This is the power button btw
@glad grove Budget and country?
This with some upgrades might be worthwhile https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-master-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-3600-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-6600-xt-500gb-ssd-black/6481360.p?skuId=6481360
Needs a hard drive and some ram, but otherwise its at an okay price right now
The extra $350 or so after could go to a nice monitor, a second monitor, headphones, bluetooth adapter, etc.
@brave field https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/461386571552391168/911372208042016849/Screenshot_20211119-154642_Walmart.jpg Since I trust you with these things more than anyone, is this a good deal for a pre-built? I suggested to my friend about getting an upgrade from his slow laptop but im not too great on pricing and he sent this to me
bad deal imo
5700G and a GPU is dumb
Any place you can suggest that has something like this but cheaper?
Its overpriced for a 3060 system
Wdym by needing a hard drive and some ram? Sorry I am new to PC building
The PC I linked above has slightly better overall game performance at $500 less
The cyberpower one?
yeah
Ight, I sent it to him. Thanks
@glad grove That PC only comes with a 500GB SSD, it'll very likely need more storage if you plan to do more than solely FH5 on it. The 8gb of ram it comes with isn't awful, but is really a ripoff at $1000. Having more active, heavy processes (like a game and multiple web browsers open at the same time) works better with more ram.
Adding these two solves it: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mwrYcf/seagate-barracuda-computer-2-tb-35-7200rpm-internal-hard-drive-st2000dm008
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XHc48d/patriot-viper-steel-8-gb-1-x-8-gb-ddr4-3000-cl16-memory-pvs48g300c6
@jovial tide same thing, if they're using it mostly for games ^^
Thanks
hey im trying to build a fairly budget upgradable pc, limiting myself at 800 bucks, is this a good build for it as it is now? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bL8r2V
Leave off the third party cooler and case fans until you know for sure you need them. The ram looks overpriced, this kit may fit better https://pcpartpicker.com/product/P4FKHx/silicon-power-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-sp016gxlzu320bdaj5
i checked around and it seems like the case only comes with one fan, should i still just see how well it works?
No particularly hot running parts are in this. At worst, that one fan will run a bit faster than it needs to, if the system will legitimately benefit from more fans
Vega 7 isnt really good for gaming
For gta it would do fine tho
wish I knew what brand/die this ram kit was, why is this stuff not being posted anymore 😭
Got the exact name, it's a ASROCK Radeon RX570 Phantom Gaming D 8G OC
what do you suggest then? i just need one that games decently until i can get my hands on a cheaper side gpu
so should i put the one fan as intake or exhaust?
intake only leaves you with the mostly closed off front, but I think it'll still be a tiny bit better than using it on exhaust
R u only looking for new parts?
Cos if u were to buy a second hand gpu it would be 10x better for ur budget
In a water cooling build does it water cool both gpu and cpu?
Cause im thinking i can cut off a couple hundred ££ by removing watercooling
you choose what it cools in a custom loop
if you're buying a preassembled CLC, its probably only designed to cool your CPU
specs?
Off the shelves build
This list
That's using a preassembled CLC
it only cools the CPU
since your CPU is a 10700KF, that watercooler could be useful, if you overclock or keep it at its 5ghz boost often
Clc?
closed-loop cooler
I'm not really interested in overclocking. I mean speed is high enough
- i can reduce the cost down to £2-2.5k if i get rid of certain pieces
Swap to an i7 11700F (or 10700F if they offer it) and remove the watercooler then, should be some $70 cheaper on the CPU for the same performance
you can get roughly the same performance out of ram that costs less than half of that https://pcpartpicker.com/product/B8QcCJ/silicon-power-gaming-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-sp032gxlzu320bdaj7
980 PRO is a bit useless in a PC like this if its a gaming system, similar SSDs should be in the $130 range or less
You're overpaying for Windows, you can reuse any Windows 7 or 8 keys to activate 10 just fine.
The $90 optimization charge is a complete scam
i need help w my monitor
Is the cpu 11700K only watercool able?
Should i go for 2,3 or 4 ram sticks with same size?
Is 980 overkill
Im just gonna ask, my monitor is stuck on a selected resolution that i cant change. Its just stuck on a stretched res
@jagged lark The 11700K's sole purpose for existing is overclocking
since you don't have interest in that, it doesn't make sense to pay all the extra, is all
@jovial tide should be able to change it via display. Choose the recommended res
thats the thing, i cant
Oh and what about i9 or is it underperforming with the chosen gpu?
i9s are useless for games
Window's 11 then idk. Maybe it's already at normal res
its way too zoomed in, theres no way
Do you have GPU drivers isntalled?
But for other things like unreal engine, visual studio and maybe 3d modelling work
how do i check that, its my first time getting a pc so im new to this
What GPU do you currently have, then? @jovial tide
The pc will be mainly for gaming but for other work at a side
Visual studio runs on toasters, unreal possibly could benefit, but that's more a GPU thing, 3D modelling is GPU-accelerated
Don't think any of those will really benefit from more than 16 threads
as in the graphics card? Or something else
yes
3060 ti
that also brings back a question, probably more important
my graphics card on device manager has an error code 43
alr
Ima download discord on it rq so i can access the link through there
wow, everything is pretty stretched on discord too lol
also, ive already reinstalled my driver
The Windows 11 one, through Nvidia's official installer on this site?
this might just be a Windows 11 issue then. Sorry I can't help, I don't use 11.
Hmmm
i reinstalled my actual gpu and driver, still had the error
i havent tried updating it
idk, we'll find out
Code 43 can show up if the GPU isn't physically installed entirely correctly, or if its defective as well
If this doesn't work, could you take and send a picture of the area where your GPU meets the PCIe slot?
what is saying this
the Nvidia installer or device manager?
If Device manager, you need to use that link
if the installer, something is very wrong
on the installer...
alright, something is very wrong
Could you take and send a picture of the area where your GPU meets the PCIe slot?
idk what the pcle is tho, i recently got this pc a day ago
Not even
There are 2 hanging cables that arent connected to anything is what i can see
send a pic of everything inside, if possible
mmmh, that looks fine for this card
never mind the other picture I was thinking of, don't open this system up
return this to the people who built it for you
if they charged money for it, they owe you a working product
$2000 for a 3060ti system?!
$1500 😭
Its either a faulty GPU or poor installation, yeah
it was 1500 cuz of prebuilt, idk how to build pcs
hard times
There's a 6600XT cyberpower at $999 today, its surprisingly okay https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-master-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-3600-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-6600-xt-500gb-ssd-black/6481360.p?skuId=6481360
@jovial tide don't open it or anything though, just explain the code 43 thing and the drivers not working, in case they try to revoke their return period and warranty. They should replace it without you having to provide a reason ideally.
ok
so not only a new monitor, but a new pc
that sucks
im also having other problems with the monitor
What's up with the monitor?
crashes for no reason, unable to be turned off, half of it doesnt work, terrible in general
sorry to hear :(
understandable
I had high expectations for cyberpower
Also my brother couldve been at fauly
fault
because he was pulling on cords for some reason
Did he open it at all?
oh, the expanding foam stuff!
really can't fault him for that, if cyberpower has to shipped it that way, there are risks with components becoming dislodged when removing it, just like if it wasn't there at all
since its already been opened
could you take a pic of this area?
yeah
oh wait
they have a guide on this process, nice!
be sure to shut down and unplug everything first
oh ok
Any improper installation/removal, mishandling, or negligence on your part, will be counted as physical damage and therefore void your warranty. If you have at anytime concerns or wariness please contact our technician support.
call them first, I think. Someone should be able to guide you over the phone, and then it won't void warranty if its their employee (I hope)
but it not being fully in its slot can cause 43, so its worth a try
yeah
I mnow
i cant type, sorry
heres the interior btw
theres disconnected cords from the card
idk if its suppsoed to be like that
that's normal
this area
if there's any visible gold/bronze metallic-y parts where the GPU fits into that plastic piece, its an installation error
If you're confident, you can try their guide, but I'd get on the phone with someone and get a return/replacement/technician
You might be able to get it to work quickly if its not the GPU itself, but a new product should just work out of the box tbh
I tried a bit of their guide
no luck
Oh no i tried the entire thing
lol
didnt work
What’s happened?
Is that UserBenchmark?
Please don't use that, they misrepresent performance.
Also, their "benchmarking" software is essentially a virus.
I mean, not really, but it fucks with the system a little bit.
ok
What motherboard goes with an i7 11th gen not the oc version, 3080ti, 32gb ram and 2 m.2 slots?
This way i can build the pc for a price upto £2k instead of the £2.8k price built
11th gen
whats the best cpu to get for windows 11
Probably the 12900k or 5950X
The WD is gen4 if that makes any difference
Anyway which one u guys think best?
as far as price/performance goes, the crucial P5 would be the best. However, both the sn750 and the samsung 980 pro top performance.
Tough to pick 😩
