since people forget the joke that is 11th gen is out
i would like to remind you that 11th gen is out
and 10th gen price didnt drop

OfficeDepot gets rid of their old stock by increasing the price by 20 cents per month. Same with Amazon, Newegg, and pretty much anywhere that sells in new condition. Used listings/ebay/hardwareswap/facebook/craigslist drop in price, though.
Is this according to UserBenchmark?
you making fun of 4th gen?
Not at all, it was good... for 2013.
well new generation's not released yet
things could change
I personally hope Intel becomes more competitive in price/performance, but at the same time, I know scalpers are just gonna buy up the entire fucking stock and force prices to stay the same/go higher.
hmm tech question
is there any way I can connect both my case argb controller (switched with the case rgb switch button) to my motherboard and use both?
can you clearfiy?
So my care Matrexx 50 f4 has 4 fans argb with 1 argb controller that connects to a button on top you can click to select different colors
you can connect the fans to the controller then to the mobo?
Like this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVEFdBdEnlA
I disconnected the argb cable to the controller board, and connected it to motherboard instead; now I wanna know is it possible to both connect it to that argb controller and the argb port on the motherboard
Connection guide for Matrexx 50 ARGB or Matrexx 55 ARGB fan connections.
glass front
well I don't think that will work, the argb controller gives its own 5v power
I think connecting that argb case controller might mess things up
i dont htink you can do both
fair enough, I take your word for it
so it's either the button and that circuit or the motherboard
because like , i dont think the button can control the mobo
yeah you're right. there's no input for that
wireless VRMs
with intel you get less wireless VRMs
more reasons to buy AMD
be smart and buy AMD
Be clever and buy intel
i like how the AMD one have this while the intel one doesnt
and the Intel one is rated for higher memory speed
here is something useful Intel doesnt have
iam aware there are stuff are better than AMD storemi
easy-ability though
nope , still on X570s
with storemi you can cache any HDD with any SSD
i mean yea
but like 8-6TB HDDs are cheap too
caching them with 120-240gbs SSDs can be good
No like ... Optain used to accelerate other drives
So if u want speed u need to buy hard drive then optain
To get speed to the capacity that the optain has
Or u can just buy an nvme ssd lol
that costs 110$
So yeah u have 8tb hdd to accelerate but that ssd only have 256tb of fast storage
After that you are back to hdd speeds
StoreMI came with something interesting which when u use an SSD it will be used as an extra storage not just cache
it was also kinda smart
it will store certain files that re pain to load on HDD on SSD
Idk it was not well received
I should probably try it
I have 240gb ssd somewhere
Oh new one says "SSD partition can be used as cache "
everyone forgot the first, $20 Enmotus Fuzedrive Software, more a result of AMD and Enmotus partnering than an AMD technology
AMD StoreMI technology has been rebuilt from the ground up with a new algorithm that makes it safe and simple to use. Now, a StoreMI configuration simply mirrors your most-used files to an SSD of your choosing, leaving the original copy intact.
understandably, I guess. It was at the bottom of the first Zen1 reveal article, was never advertised, and then AMD moved to StoreMI after
It's not supported by first gen
2 and up
As they said they rebuilt it
It was moving files in the past but now mirroring
Much safer
Might try it tomorrow
iam surprised it took them 4 years to do what 3rd party apps been doing for years
looks like intel had way before AMD
or even intel core lineup
Intel Smart Response Technology
so if you're buying a high capacity HDD but want to access storage from it fast, use optane.
Currently i have 1tb ssd and 2tb hdd
I also have 240 ssd that i don't use
StoreMI might do good in my case to accelerate that hdd
Maybe you don't know this but and employees are not remotely close to intel
They are small teams
yeah, so you use optane if you have fuck you money and need to access data from a hard drive faster.
Winblow 11 cringe
UI overhaul is appreciated, 10 was a huge downgrade from 8 in that regard. But UX in 11 is pain
welp imma see it for myself
Cookie's using unusual language today
Sauce, winblow
are you sure you're not hacked cookie?
its certainly possible
Hiding the only useful context menu options behind another mouse movement/click is nasty
It'll take a lot of time getting used to it; then imaging helping people running windows 10 while running 11
The other day I was searching around for 10 minutes just to find the disable the sticky keys feature (shift shift shift shift shift)
things like properties/paste shortcut should absolutely be at the top instead of this... when right clicking empty space in explorer's "This PC" menu
It'll get better, if it is to stay people's feedback on insider will eventually help microsoft build better as it did with windows 10
sorting and things that only slightly affect muscle memory is what the top ribbon bar should be for
yeah
hopefully sooner than later though
it also has a funny audio glitch
try changing the audio volume 2-3 times with your mouse you'll hear a noise almost every time
Thought Virtualbox was having the early 6.x problems again
but nope, just the W11 VM was
they should have tested it better before release
like the nvidia control panel on desktop right click or radeon software is a must - that noise is disappointing, right click menus are useless - some options are hidden inside on/off button options with no apparent relation to the option (like that sticky keys option I mentioned)
The first depends on AMD/Nvidia, but the others suck
With Windows 11 being almost identical to 10 outside of the UI, its kinda baffling how little quality of life changes there are for using the UI
looks nice but does not feel good at all. I would think making control panel have viable alternatives would be a top priority. You can't even give consistent sound/internet troubleshooting steps to two people using the same Windows 10 version, why is 11 not better about that?
well there's performance difference like the whole point was to modernize HDR, and how OS interacts with CPU/GPU
Also forcing people to use virtualization security features, secure boot tpm is a nice extra
im in w11 now pog
Anyone have any idea why facebook on google chrome softlocks my laptop? Nothing else does it, just facebook.
should not have to cheat for these two menus to not move each update
@jovial tide Did they finally document what TPM is doing in W11? Bitlocker could use it before already, but all the articles I've found have the same "yeah it can uhh... do security. I promise I did not copy this line from the wikipedia on tpm"
hmmm w11 feels weird now
I have to check, but last time I checked it said attestation and bitlocker something like that
also speaking of TPM, do you think buying a tpm module would be better than using CPUs TPM?
I don't think it makes much of a difference
though, we still don't really know what all is being used. Using some extra module is also another point of failure, which isn't fun.
Think Windows 11’s new security measures are annoying? This video may – or indeed may not – change your mind.
Doesnt make sense to buy enterprise class electronics.
Either way youre still going to lose performance on w11 from lack of optimization, not from having to use ftpm.
So the problem is as far as I can understand if you lose the key to your CPU tpm you can brick your whole pc
The motherboard even warns when you switch to firmware tpm
No, thats if you forget the bitlocker password and you use the windows bitlocker in the first place
Its having it enabled, not used to its fullest extent.
a remote attack leveraging an open RDP (remote desktop protocol) port, brute forcing the password, and then infecting the machine with ransomware
What does TPM verifying that the wrong passwords are indeed wrong do about brute forcing or dictionary attacks? Does it implement a timer/cooldown after wrong attempts? Would that not hurt the user as well?
I don't understand this
well it might be there to prevent local attacks
I can explain this but it's a bit of grey area
so technically there are 2 types of attacks to a machine, remote and local; remote uses known vulnerabilities to gain some level of access towards the machine while local (sometimes on top of remote) uses codes in order to become the user or become the machine to gain full access.
ransomwares for example fit into this category
TPM's involvement?
well it probably blocks that privilege escalation to some extent
makes it much more costly and harder or maybe even impossible for a program or malicious user to suddenly access kernel
honestly, more info will probably come out of hak conferences than news websites.
RIP Valorant anti-cheat.
Ok, that's not normal. I would check the seating of your heatsink to your CPU/check your fan.
I can't believe you didn't turn off the PC before checking the heatsink. You either have balls of steel or fuck you money.
Try testing your CPU with prime95 for a few min. Stop if the CPU reaches past 85C
yeah. I don't think there will be a temp issue with the GPU.
GPUs generally throttle when overheating.
Likely
Just download prime95
GIMPS has free software available for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OSX. Contribute to the effort by using your computer's spare processing power.
Let me guess, windows defender doesn't like it.
keep it default and run
NVM, use small ffts
What CPU and cooler are you using?
You need another cooler. That thing won't do at all.
That case should have clearance for a beefier cpu cooler.
Than what you currently have.
Newegg or Amazon would be a good start.
Check the dimensions of the cooler, and measure it against the case and your cpu
Actually, where do you live geographically?
Ok, then newegg or amazon
I've personally used this CPU cooler for a SFF PC build 7 years ago:
https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nh-l9x65/p/N82E16835608071
Is there an output area next to the CPU?
this?
Yeah, it should still work. The inside of the case will jump by a few degrees C, but shouldn't be too much of an issue.
This is the case I've used on that build with that cpu cooler:
https://www.silverstonetek.com/raven/product-rv.php?pid=487&area=en
Since the original RAVEN RV01 debuted in 2008, the RAVEN team at SilverStone has demonstrated many times how it can truly define or defy computer enthusiasts’ expectations of what a performance PC is capable of in both form and function. For 2014, the team had a new target, which is to exceed and reshape the small form factor landscape with ano...
It seems to be a little bit slimmer than your optiplex 5050
Just making doubly sure, yours is the middle of the three right?
Hmm, try prime95 again.
Did it instantly crash or crash after overheating?
MB on the blend one, do the small FFTs
Dell tends to go shit tier with their RAM, so blend will cause a crash.
Small
Yeah, it tends to go really unresponsive when your cpu is utilized fully.
That's normal.
I'd keep it going for another 10 minutes or so if it's not too inconvenient, then check temps
but 66C is good.
Maybe, but the goal of malware is to take info most of the time.
Stress testing a CPU accomplishes nothing.
Possibly, but it would be more hassle than it's worth.
Not really. When the CPU is fully utilized, processes have to queue up.
That's what causes the lack of responsiveness.
Which game?
Gotcha. GTA tends to use the CPU quite a bit.
Your cpu cooler was loose, so that caused the temps to shoot higher.
Try running it now and see if the temps are good.
Yeah, those temps are still rather high.
Try out the game, maybe it was loose before.
If that doesn't work, try repasting.
Sweet, keep going, maybe fly a plane around or something
The CPU tends to heat up when in the air.
xD
I think that's for high settings 1080p at 60 fps.
Of course that happens
I'm gonna hop on for a bit, can you DM me your SC?
Haven't launched GTA in a fat minute
What's it at now?
👍
sent you a FRQ btw
It can do that.
That is a little hot for my taste, but still ok. If you want, you could remove the cpu heatsink and reapply thermal paste, see if that lowers temps.
GTA hates me today 😛
Won't let me load
yup, PC shuts down to prevent damage.
yours crashed at 80C?
That's not normal
Maybe the fan curve can only be controlled in the BIOS.
Then again, dell isn't known for having very good bioses.
Is full speed always too noisy?
Typical dell. Auto fan curve sucks, but your only other option is jet engine simulator.
lol
:3
window 11 looks plain af after usage
airflow or rpm for case fans?
I upgraded to 11 just for DirectStorage and Native Android App support on Windows Store
I can still upgrade all my PCs even unsupported ones to that OS by bypassing the requirements using a third party app.
i cant even download windows 11 because it isnt compatible with my pc
Average CPU released after 2020
While fiddling with source files doesn't work, I tried this and this installed W11 successfully on my old MSI Laptop from 2017.
Lga 1151 coolers work on intel lga 1200?

There is someone trying to run W11 even on an old Pentium 4 PCs.

It needs ram
Does LGA 1151 coolers work with LGA 1200 without modifications?
Looks like shit lol
hehehehe
I don't like whatever thermaltake makes
They always are bad quality
And made for looks
Well works for me
Arctic focus on performance
10400F UX100 and that case I showed you 30 degrees
There's a Canada factor to it but still
Do u even know the capability of this
There's a cheaper version with one fan tho
How much?
Does it?
50 cad not bad
I can get cheap LGA 1151 of black markets easily
Thermal take is probably the worst company that make cooling solutions
Well it's better than stock cooler for sure
NH D15 Chromax Version tho <3
Thinking thinking
145$ noctua d15 chromax
100-120$ H100 pro
about 20$ thermaltake ux100
takes the extra 125$ buys better rams
Why buy a d15 when liquid freezer ii exist 🥺
Costs 95 here
cuz it do be looking chonky uwu
145 Canadian for me
Shipping stuff from Austria to Germany isn't that expensive

Nothing says you can’t learn
linux shouldn't be too different from windows if you go for distributions such as Ubuntu, Manjaro (I don't recommend this one) or Pop OS
manjaro isn't that hard
no
but its its two weeks behind the the AUR and the can often lead to it crashing and refusing to start up after an update
can often lead to it crashing and refusing to start up after an update
every linux distro ever
really varies
debian is literally the most stable thing known to man
arch isnt as stable but it's not bad
nah when I used ubuntu (around 14.04) I got thrown into gurb rescue all the time, most of the time I didn't even know what I did wrong
I have seen rocks less stable than debian
that isnt about update stability tho... if you install windows like shit it can fuck up too
although fuck ubuntu there are so many better options if you have to time to learn about linux
tbh yeah but back then I used to think ubuntu was "the linux"
we've all been there
then I was pissed when I heard linux was light weight and ubuntu ran like shit on my old laptop
it actually ran fine on mine, I fucked up windows 7 on it but I needed some os on it
if I had the patience I would have used arch + cinnamon de
mine is a Pentium dual core at 1GHz, thats why it ran like shit
Mine was an amd turion 2
I loose track of time setting up linux installations
void linux + dwm runs nicely on that old fart of a laptop
linux runs on any potato pc
I wish one day Linux community agrees on one distro for average users and focus on improving the experience
Every Linux user will give u a distro and there is no perfect one to use
Spray it with water
Or tell us exactly what you have and we might be able to help
Both
So it's a laptop
Good to know
What
Wtf
Oh shit
Did you check that it is not dirty
Do u have a graphics card and which one is it
Ok so ...
It probably throwing more heat load
Do u have intake or exhaust fan there
Now if u open the side panel of the case
Does that improve temps and what temps you getting anyway
U should test on a stable load
Like being on single player on a constant view
Idle doesn't mean shit
It needs to be under load
This.
Let it heat up until it gets stable then open the panel
Does it look like this
Btw 80C is ok
It's for OEM devices
Yeah u see the limit is 100C
Also does it high that temperature quickly?
For example its at idle
Then u open Google Chrome
What happens to temp
No
First do the door experiment
And that didn't make any difference?
Normal
Panel open?
Ok just let it stabilize
It's ok
Stay on a stable scene
Fan getting louder?
When u hit 100
Can u see your cpu usage?
Alright whats the temp now
You are alt tabbing?

We can not not get a good reading by that
The moment u alt tab usage goes down along with temp and gpu usage
Anyway open the panel now and see if it makes a difference
What u need is a proper monitoring by using a tool like msi afterburner
It shows u stats while playing
Then go to its settings and enable monitoring
For stuff u want to monitor like cpu temp and gpu temp
Is it lower
Im talking about cpu
U said it gets to 85
Or 80
Best way to do this is by proper tools
Cpu z
It's a tool that has Stress feature
It fully loads the cpu with constant load
It does
Cpuz is like very small
Does it tell u why
A cpu would start throttling if it gets very hot
At the end it shuts down the entire computer
Yeah
It's working hard
As i said test the cpu with prime or cpuz
When u start it if the CPU hits a very high temperature in a few seconds then u might have a bad thermal paste
Bench
Then click stress while watching the temps
Yes
Normal
And cpu fan still quiet?
There might be an option to make that fan more aggressive in the BIOS
temp now?
oh my
That's pretty normal
u need to get a better cooler lol but seems like ur fine for now
if u ever upgrade a new cooler will be needed
That's probably a gpu issue
Cpu is perfectly fine
How long it takes till it crash
U said prime crash u as well right
Blender uses cpu or gpu?
Are you sure
Anyway the way i see it its not a temperature issue
Hows the temps
Should start to throttle now
What fan options u have
U said it makes it a jet engine
What options u have there
How do u make it a jet engine
Can u make it lower
Still trying to figure out what fan options u have
It cant be only dead quiet or a jet engine
Does it crash with jet engine
I guess u need to find a way to control that fan better
It might be even vrms that are overheating along with the cpu
It should increase speed automatically
Bios reset might get u somewhere
For some reason
My 3200mhz ram cant pass 3066
I wonder why
hmm subtimings are obliterated by your motherboard
Managed to get it work
Need more time to see if its stable
An RX580 wasnt probably the best gpu to pair with it
But who have the time to rob a bank for that
sigh
People fight over which one is better between the 3
They are all utter garbage
i just realized we are able to smart-bruteforce the diffi-hellman key-exchange using the digital signature.
so i pull up a neural network and start training it with some sideline calculations, seems like we're able to estimate the maximum tries required using the following:
et = (r^len(s/r*sqr(n)))*tri(r)
@jovial tide looks like I don't need a budget pc anymore
My mum promised to buy me a pc for whatever price it costs if i have good grades this year
inb4 shoveling a budget
Mobile discord now shows you this if you write an username with more than 32 letters heh
$67 for a 1TB PCIe 3.0x4 (2400/1800) with code EMC2AAZ2545
sadly a tossup if you get the TLC version or the QLC version
so resizable bar on Intel wont work with AMD gpus
Damn, missed it. It's out of stock.
unfortunate 😦
Aww well, I probably did not need another TB of solid state storage....
Overclocking cheap ass memory on 10400F
I will see where it goes
Rn at 3200mhz
My testing
= mod at bios -> run 25 cycles of OCCT
overclock it to at least 4.0 ghz
4ghz?
Why?
I will go to 3600mhz then tighten the timings
If i reach that
My problems before was that "Auto" = 0.95V intel bruh
For VCCIO
I set it to 1.2V
Might lower it to 1.18V
This shit is cool AF
intel you dipshits why you ruin the good things
not sure about how far this will go
yup
H
give me my extra 3 Fps at TF2
passed
thinking of the popular 16 19 19 39
This is fun
Its on cycle 10 no errors yet
Normally errors around 1-2
My guess intel will allow slight overclocking on B660 or B760
Ironic that you can overclock the bus on B460 while not on B560 but you xan overlock the memory and remove powerlimits on B560 and not the B460
it passed
bruh
Ok last changes
Ram -> 1.4V
tRAS -> 38
tRFC -> 525

10900K + 3090 be like : 😭
in the last couple of generations overclocking has been coming with a lot of diminishing returns tbf ngl
Thinking of getting a ps5 but it's hella expensive
Can I play ps5 games on a maybe PS 4 slim/pro ?
ok
On ryzen yes
Intel no
10400F is capable but isnt doing it
You have to buy the rebranded "10600k"
But the mobo to OC it is more expensive
Like 400-450$ total for cpu and mobo? Bruh
There is a reason AMD X didnt success

And thats with CPU only
Like no one is willing to pay 50$ for the same thing they can do in bios
Now imagine extra for mobo
And that was my point for recommending a 3600 with b450/b550
But the thing is
A maxed 3600 with OC and everything will run worse than a 10400F
And i dont see AMD making 150$ 6600
U can oc a 3600 up to 4.5ghz
And tighten the ram timings
Or even better
Use Ryzen CTR
It will run hotter and match the 10400F
Yes? It depends on the memory
CTR is an amazing tool
It doesn't oc all cores and doesn't pump up the voltage
It just keeps testing until it finds the best clock your silicon is capable of
Yea
The 5600X would have been good at least around 250$
And it OC per CCX
Seen it goes for less
But whats the point
3600 is enough
I have never it even go lower than 280$
You live in a bad place for amd
3600 is in shit situation of availability right world wide
It isnt 180$ anymore
that already includes VAT tho
Also memory matters alot
Hynix runs better with intel
Hynix sucks on AMD
While samsung work with everything but tend to favor AMD a lil
Iam impressed with the garbage memory i got achieving that
What did you get
Teamgroup 3200 16gb like for 50$ new
One stick?
What's their xmp and what u achieved
3200
Barely running at it
I think it was 16 18 18 38
I got 3600
16 19 19 38
They are still 50$ ram
Do you stutter?
One thing I hate about ram overclock is, it passes everything then you suddenly stutter
minecraft doesnt count so no
Did you OCCT it?
ikkk
sub timings are tight?
intel memory controller is superior to AMD which is kinda ironic
its Hynix , probably not
I bet
i run it on 1.4V but during load it runs at 1.38
So what happens if you run at 1.35
on latest AMD bioses Hynix have needs to run at very high voltage to achieve the same timings
idk if that is fixed
but its probably fine , Hynix mem can just shit load of V about 1.6 before it starts to shit it self
i didnt try
yeah try cause that's the tested and intended voltage for xmp right?
yes but now extra speed
doesn't matter much
when i OC ram , i go for 1.45V
then after the right timings i go for 1.4V and leave it there
dont forget on intel you need to OC the mem controller
well in AMD you have fCLK to change
stock runs at arond 0.95-1.05V
i run it at 1.18V
its safe since the maximum safe is around 1.28 and max is 1.54
man , if only this 150$ CPU was unlocked
like on open bench stock cooler under stress testing is 66C and normal gaming is 50C
i would have ran it at 4.5ghz
intel really needed these 7 people who bought the i5 10600K money
and now i need to mod some bios
I run it on 800mhz here
10400F is hard locked
?
It's locked very hard
You can't unlock it even with bios editors it hard locks
To the point of not being able to use the power button
i know
i was talking about modding the GPU bios
i just wish it was unlocked
i like this CPU
i like the idea of this CPU*
intel is like mojang
the best concept ever with the most freaking dipshit implementation
So what GPU is locked?
Unlock it! all it takes is some vbios editing and maybe soldering skills
@lost fossil my gpu is doing an annoying sssssss sound when using a lot of power
Any way I can fix that? :(
Anyone know how to fix this? It's been happening recently.
If you can't see the image clearly, im getting 90-91c on some games
Are you playing a laptop? Maybe your exhaust is dusty
is that cpu or gpu?
whats that cpu gpu
open the gpu remove dust with a duster then apply some oil
coil whine
gpu
If it was my cpu, it'd turn off at 60
that koil whine can be lessened if you oil it a little bit like put a bit of oil in different places
91 is way too high
Apply oil to what? It's water cooled
laptop? @jovial tide
:(
u wot
@jovial tide you need to remove dust or change the gpu cooler
you know you get one of those things you put into your ear
Tried all of that. Even put new thermal paste in it
get a little oil @civic cloud then apply on the chips
My gpu is also not overclocked, it's bone stock
a cotton swab yeah
doesn't matter undead that's what it takes

oil fixes coil whine
Then idk how to fix it
Ill just leave it as is ig
what's the card?
did u play with the fan curve?
1660
yeah like when u hit that temp what is your fan speed?
a gtx 1660....?
jesus christ
good luck finding help on the net like that
what do you have? I have a 320
bitch there are 1000 320 models
Omfg
some cards wont ramp full fan speed even with high temp so double check that
it's on the same afterburner charts
find max fan speed u got
I think it's just faulty cooler
90 degrees in not acceptable
I mean, if it was faulty, id be getting these issues early on
So I doubt that's the problem
undead running a pre build with strict airflow as far as i remmeber
Well, it's just a lil annoying uwu
The case is the only thing that's "pre-built" now
Everything else I bought
yeah kind of not worth the time
enjoy it as is
and can tell me about the things i asked undead?
The fan speed?
It's kind of pointless helping at this point
"what's the card?" "it's some 1660"
Bruh.
that's a no effort answer
Do you fucking mean the brand of card?
you dont get effort from a no effort answer
Whatever man. I didn't know what you were talking about and thought you meant the card itself, so that's what I respond with
yes
All I see is fan speed %
@jovial tide quick question what was the company of your pre build?
ABS
A company by Newegg
Very good support, decent build quality great cable management good prices and specs
Found it
Force the fans to 100% then game a little
See if it makes any difference
so it was hitting 100% right
Seems so yes
When I was playing, MSI was running the fans at full speed
It still seemed to hit that temp
If it still has warranty I would just send it for repairs
Or replacement
opening side panel might be your only savior rn
Yeah....about that
if that does not help then it might be bad paste
Both the front panel and side are completely off. Though I suppose the hot weather here doesn't make it any better
I checked for dust, Didn't seem to be much on there
The only thing I can think of is repositioning my case up higher on my desk for more air since it's on the floor rn
I need a new case at some point too...this one is just awful
yeah, one sec
I can't really get a pic of it without moving everything entirely
Is there anything else I can send that might help?
nah
we can do a followUp to this after u move the case
maybe improve things or test the card paste
for now if you overheat try reducing the power limit to like 90&-80%
it's one of the options
my friend in the states needs a pc for vr and she does not know much about computers
yeah the cost is still questionable
hmmm
I paid 1800 canadian $ for mine
right now it's off for 1700$ which is 1370USD I think that's a fair price for the specs
I listed it before and after I bought it, the price is just about right
Asus B560M-A AC + Intel 10400F + UX100 cooler + Oloy 3000MHz C16 16GB + P650B PSU + MSI 3060TI Ventus 2x OCv1 LHR + Deepcool Matrexx 50 + 1TB T-Force Graphene NVME SSD
do u have a link for this?
yep let me give you
the other one as well
so this is what I bought now price seems increased https://www.newegg.ca/abs-ali559/p/N82E16883360189?Item=N82E16883360189
the same model exists in newegg us
In newegg it's all here https://www.newegg.com/ABS-Gaming-Desktops/BrandSubCat/ID-8484-3742
So that cost me 1800 at the time, went down to 1700 (canadian $) now it's more but there are other items similar for 1700 1800 by ABS
I think they sometimes use ABS to sell more of some parts they have in stock
1300$
yeah that's it
looks decent enough
but thing im worried about is the cooler
i know for a fact she will never clean it lol
the cooler's fine I thought the same then realized
the cooler + case combo just works
30 degrees on low and normal loads 50-65 max loads
case carries it
dude comparing these guys to Dell
they are like angels
Dell support was the most gaslighting experience I've ever had
These guys I said I see some dynamic lines on boot it might be something please send me cable to check, they sent me new displayport cable
yeah that's good
Then emailed it's not cable, they insisted let's replace your GPU; while Dell would say something like "it's absolutely normal"
I'm happy with the ABS choice so far, they all know decent amount of computer knowledge.
u dodged a lot of bullets going with ABS
You know I thought I'm paying 2500 for a crappy laptop
Why not get something that's actually good; even GamersNexus liked it. Saved 100$ on top of that getting rid of laptop and getting this.
this is why i always say no to laptops
That M15 R6 is a cancer
A very beautiful laptop that performs well but at 100 degrees :/
It's like a time bomb, sooner or later it'll break badly and malfunction like that.
Total tech question but how do i turn on dev mode for discord
ty i was told it was appearance settings lol
@cold elbow on a scale from 1 to 10, how worried should I be if my pc keeps making a rattling noise for a few seconds every few minutes? 🥺🤨
U should at least know what it's
Well it's prolly the pump
If its from a power supply for example u should just burn your house right now rather than waiting for it to burn
Oh how did you mounted it?
Can we see
If it's been running for a long time then the possibility of having air in the pump is highly unlikely
It's been running for a few weeks by now
If it's the pump then u dont need to worry
It wont burn your house
Make sure it's the pump ant something else
Well what else I supposed to make that noise
It sounds like you dropped a Softair ball on the floor
Like plonk plonk plonk...done
I vote for wires in the back
those are usually the ones responsible for rattling sounds
People that dont change thermal paste every 1.5 years
After some research
Its not related to bios
Its AMD being ass

Using the same paste for 4 years
Still works as new

you sure?
it wasnt garbage in the first place
i never seen thermal paste survive for more than 3 years unless on a Pentium or something lmao
not bad for the 200$ one
Looks like there's going to be no non-OEM boards with both DDR4 and DDR5 slots
i think combing them is a bad idea
DDR3-DDR4 i hated the boards that had both
alot of problems
useless slots
and shit support
yeah, but that part was so fun
reading threads of people who ignored their manual and mixed DDR3 with DDR3L and DDR4 all at the same time
seeing them only support DDR4 at 1866MHZ and occasionally 2133mhz after a BIOS update
and then Kaby Lake only supporting DDR3L and not DDR3, but the board maker insisting both were supported on their website
well yes , until blue screens , corrupted data and VRMs failing
DDR4/5 boards will probably be the H610
and maybe B660
Still barely hit 65C on full load
depends on the card / CPU
I do the same benchmarks for my pc after every major update to make sure nothing is wrong
if a cpu isnt hot in the first place it can probably run wihtout thermal paste lol
1070 TI isnt that hot but i have it run cooler
200W is not hot?
So now you are saying that thermal paste can survive 4 years
RX 580 ^
its not optimal , probably can run cooler
580 generated heat is less than a 1070 ti
Especially when my card power limit goes to 130℅
580 normal TDP 145W
most cards are 160-180W
Tested it day one and few days ago
Giving exactly the same temps
for like
Sub 1060 performance
if your 580 isnt like this , its probably at 80C
this card efficiency can be compared to a broken honda civic
Moral of the story
Your statement of thermalpaste should be replaced every 1.5 year is wrong because it depends on the running condition and the type of paste
yes i did say i change it every 1.5 years
but i said you probably shouldnt go more than 3 years without changing it
specially when you have the garbage stock thermal paste
i yet to see anyone other than gigabyte and evga to use a morally near good thermal paste on their GPUs
Statements like that is why a lot of people don't understand thermalpaste.
Making think they are fool for having a perfectly functional device
I don't see u mentioning laptops anywhere in that statement
Nobody was even talking about them.
And good night
?
That's a desktop
i was there mostly then left it and gone
And that's another one because my card is on stock paste and its msi.
bruh i was just typing
graphics card overheating
steps
if you have EGVA 10 series , change thermal pads
for the rest :
deep clean the thing
change thermal paste specially on MSI cards
if it doesnt work , then try undervoting and finding a good fan curve for your card online
when cleaning the gpu i would probably advice also to brush the back of the fans with a soft tooth brush
i have seen some MSI with shit thermal paste
their midrange is just yikes
4 slot RX 590 OC
thats now how math works
the coolest memory stick i have seen in a while , change my mind
these look way better
I prefer components without plastic pieces or branding all over it
gone are the days of ARE YOU RUNNING DUAL CHANNEL? and welcome to ARE YOU RUNNING QUAD CHANNELS
me too , it just looks so slick and smooth compared to what the hell was releasing in the past 2 years while also providing heatsinks
Threadripper and X299 users: yes
facts my guy, I especially hate it when the plaster them with tonnes of rgb
threadripper will be octa channel
bruhs
WOT ARE THOSE
my god DDR5 is sexy
cant wait in 2 years when they want to sell it so they will ad shit tone of RGB and reflection for double the price of the normal one
Im fine with brushed metal and a dimmer RGB color.
But even the latter is hard to find even on serious brand like Crucial

team group have some good cheap memory
The only one with good binning is xtreem lineup
Which looks hella fine but flies in the face of minimalistic build
Octa channel means nothing
You don't need to fill in 8 slots to get most out of it
Those separate channels are useful if you have different machines running that are so important to you that you need to have dedicated rams for them
with ddr5 its 4
each ram stick is dual channel
yes
2 sticks, quad, 4 octa
yup
well that's great!
makes sense
I still think 5900x + x570 (top models) + 6900xt is a better build than these new ones
mostly cause prices
it'll drop a little
but i do think its not worth to buy anything rn
dont forget the new I5 performs better than the 5900X
if i was buying high end
i will wait till AMD Zen4
see what intel and AMD have to offer
they need to move on DDR5 sooner or later
they did depend on a garbage architecture that was getting outdated quickly
thats why moslty 6000 series wont be DDR5 until they optimize the IF to run at DDR5
on DDR5 my guess is that they gonna move to either 5Nm or 4NM+
4NM+ is very good low effort to run the IF on high frequencies
also prices
AMD 5000 series : how to destroy your product segmentation and bad marketing
fixed discord's font
Why would you get 6600mhz @ cl 36 (36-36-36-76)? Hmmm
I still don't understand how this is a jump from ddr4
It's like putting a faster engine in a car with worse gearbox that shift slower or same gearbox and much bigger tires
Yeah but absolute times right?
potentially doubled bandwidth,yes
Interesting
So it should half up to half DDR4 medium range ram times in nano second (total)
Plus the voltage controller is on chip
sf pro text
i would less argue its like that. Its more like it now packs taller gear, and smaller engine with superchargers.

I have a technical question
I have come into posession of an older smartphone. An LG V10. I need lightweight versions of apps that will work on its old hardware
In the time that I use it over my folding one.
Discord is especially hard on it but that's ok. I'm looking for something like a better browser app, photo app, and maybe messaging app
It has LG messaging and chrome as defaults
It's not that simple
Each module sends two 32bit data to the CPU
Meanwhile, ddr4 sends one 64bit
It's good for latency i guess but again timings are doubled.
Or u can get a custom firmware?
It's a phone from 2012 I'm not sure what int can and can't do. It can't handle new internet without munching it's battery life and the keyboard stalls when I type too fast
It's a "version exclusive" and comes preloaded with all the garbage that entails
Will it still work with a Verizon sim
Will that help unload it so it runs faster and doesn't die at 45 minutes of screen on time lol
In the 40 minutes since I typed that message it's down 6%
3% was just typing the message on discord
3% in the 35 minutes since
The device i had was dead... Board was dead so ordered a new one from ali express
This phone came scary pristine. No scratches or divots.
It came with firmware from israel or something that is not even the latest and refused to update
its more stable overall and also its good for data efficiency as the RAM can just send the 32 bit that a CPU needed if the load isnt fully 100%
So i flashed another firmware
With updates it bloats tho and becomes harder to run
Yeah ik
I dont think I can ask it to go 2 days like phones do now but I'd like it to be able to like.....make it a day? And I don't think it can manage that
i usually just skip both step and go and get good phone 😎
Do I just Google "how to flash X phone"
Yeah dont do a custom firmware
I have a good phone, this is for when I go places where I dont want to flash something that screams "rob me"
Just use official first
Ok
Shake it baby
@cold elbow Out of curiosity, have you had inaccurate readings with MSI Afterburner before?
Intel 12th gen videos are out
@unreal iron Look into F-Droid after
FOSS app store, most things are designed to be as lightweight as possible
Bromite might help a lot, despite its Chromium base
Guys what's the difference between ultimate and high performance
in what context?
Need help guys I wanna get a gaming pc by December but i don’t know which one i should get any idea ?
one is slightly more of a marketing term than the other
But these are Windows power profiles @lost fossil
ultimate must be a profile created by some program
then they really don't do anything
so it might be more optimized than high performance
you can manually edit and set your own power prefs if you want, I do that with my mbp
These are default windows power profiles
