Doesn't look like scalping, just bad people
i bought my 50 dollar 3080 off of ebay and it was full of rocks wtf how is this possible!
vram go brrrrrrrr
Or easily: just buy boxes from prebuilt retailer and then fill it like that.
Idk dude, sucks that you now are at rock bottom
The issue is the same people who are scalping cards are also pulling this shit.
my pc still refuses to update
I just reinstalled Windows myself.
is there a way to check which Network adaptor an app is using? (Windows)
Who can say me how to fix it if i go in my moc that there is don't a black screen
read channel description
In which channel i can do it?
Tech and coding
guys im hakcing
@fervent graniteDoes macOS have the
~directory and do you know what its supposed to be?
@brave field it is supposed to be the home directory yeah
hmm
There’s no directory physically named “~” though
then I believe the OMV headless install script I used just wipes the home directory and leaves nothing left but its .deb file
I don't see why they'd go through the effort of making separate ones for headless and a setup with a de
Does the home directory existing somehow use more system resources even if nothing ever runs in them?
Well here are some of the processes running for me right now, we can obviously ignore stuff like adobe or onedrive processes
most user processes use similar amounts of resources so I don't think it simply existing would make any noticeable difference
huh
makes no sense to me why they'd nuke a home directory that consists of empty folders
I finally have my Windows 10 Pro on my new rig on the 500GB Samsung SSD
Can anyone give me tips on trading stocks just started today
I heard that crypto costs a lot though

Flex
It would be cool if Intel really cared about efficiency, but we all know the truth here
They know 12th gen will use twice as much power as 11th gen and want to do something to lessen criticism for it
I fucking hate cable management
This side of the RGB fans is usually covered by the dust filter and case, and will be done that way going forward, but how nice does it look.
either those fans are really small, or your case is tall af lol
Considering thats my height when i was born, yes
So you were the same height as my case when you were born kek
sounds about average for a case i think
It's a full tower case, not mid tower
try dism
wow
nice unifans
got some too
Already did that
whats the error code
None
Just showed me 3 progress bars at 100%
Not at my pc
oh ok
Ill do that when i get home
Whats that
just services
For now its not forcing the update, i can choose if i want to update and shut down or just shut down
this for reference
if its stopped, start it
if its not present, you might need the registry keys
Windows update error
happened with me too
it was a headache
@fallow forgetry running scanreg.exe too
also does your pc take longer to boot than before
if all else fails, download Restoro repair pc tool
For some reason, Nucleuscoop (Split screen mod) fucks up the default User Shell Folders that stored on registry.
Three 140mm at the top, one 140mm at the back, four 120mm at the front. Will be adding one 140mm at the bottom too.
that's a lot of money to spend on fans
It's got a 5900X, RTX 3070, 64GB RAM, Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi motherboard, etc
imagine using wifi
Won't always have access to ethernet so just means I can still get online.
dont have that
oh wait i have this, its running
every morning it starts updating, and at 100% it says we couldnt complete the updates and undoes that changes, then it boots in 10 seconds
do i have to download scanreg?
nvm im running restoro now
@zealous pasture ofcourse its a paid version that can fix it
smh
is it worth the 34 bucks for a year?
don't pay money
this thing looks suspicious, its GUI looks far too "clean" or user-oriented, designed
and the fact that it can't do anything without you paying makes it seem pretttty similar to all the spyware and adware disguised as system optimizer apps
Do you think those numbers match up also? ~100GB of cached things, recycle bin, update files?
ah
anything else i could do?
After the last time, did you set up your windows install so your programs and such were on a separate partition from the OS?
If so, reinstall, its quick and you don't have to redownload anything
ouch, sorry to hear
I'd probably reinstall Windows though, it just solves everything quickly
and I'd be sure to set up a reinstall-proof setup this time around
i fucking hate that windows update is so garbage you have to reinstall to fix every problem
you said something about disabling windows update, how do i do that
Head to your network options
The UWP one, not the 7 one, weirdly enough
then change connection properties
and turn on metered connection
no clue what either of those is
should be here, accessible by right clicking the tray icon with an ethernet or wifi symbol in it on your taskbar
i dont get the option to change the properties
agh, they must've moved it again
I'm using an older version, let me see if I can find a guide that lists where it is now
you don't need to set anything else now, Windows update assumes you have a data cap set somewhere and won't download new updates
hmm
I’m thinking on a nzxt h500 or nzxt h510 elite which one should I get
normal h510
h500 is not in production and costs more, h510 elite is just an h510 with a fan controller and an RGB strip
elite might be worth it if its within $5, but certainly not if the price difference is anything more than that
both shitty cases
look into the p360a
for a similar price
p400a p500a 4000d airflow etc
wouldn't go that far
The h5xx series sucks if you're running overclocked 11th gen Intel + a 3070 or higher but for something more average its temps aren't anywhere close to being problematic, and they make cable management extremely easy
id just get a better airflow case for a similar price
ive heard great things about p360a
for 70 bucks
mesh front 2 rgb fans with rgb strip etc
Those Eclipse P cases are nice, yeah
The NR600 is one to consider as well, it attempts to keep something similar to the h5x0's minimalism but replaces the front with mesh
P300A mesh is 40$-50$ 99% of the time and 60$ at street price
Its literally my new go to now
Because focus G legit looks and builds like my old PC case but with fractal logo :linuth:
Hacked again
good case when its on sale
but 60 bucks is a yikes with only one fan
legit?
@cold elbowif its okay to ask, you use password manager? 2fac?
I dunno, I don't use it, but a password manager would work on it
but I was thinking, is it possible you have something locally getting your info?
There are people with basic 1 word passes that don't get their accounts broken into
Idk a lot of my accounts keeps getting hacked
that's actually a really serious issue
ive never been hacked
Anything like one of those bootleg Ring doorbells?
Nah
It's probably because i use the same password everywhere
Well almost everywhere
screams at top of lungs FRACTAL DESIGN!
So they keep trying because probably some app accounts got leaked
multiple times though...
yeah that's something you should never do
I used to be that way but recently I've started to move over to the bitwarden passwd manager
Yeah I've moved over to Firefox Lockwise
I've been wanting to move to a password manager but they're so hard to trust
Some people suggest that i can host my own password manager on a server
I trust bitwarden although I would've loved to use icloud keychain, too bad it isn't supported on firefox or anything else that isn't apple for that matter
There is no "oops, forgot my master password" or "my config files got corrupted, can I have passwords back?" and now instead of having to guess multiple passwords, someone only needs your master to get in
Lastpass
selfhosted bitwarden at least fixes that third one if you don't make the port available to the outside world
Browser password manager is bad imo
I've never trusted browsers to store passwords, I always enter them in myself
you need 2fac on your google account then, and people are able to get your passwords easily if they have physical access to your device
they can also get your password from a compromised website that you might've used, this is why that one-password thing is dangerous
github
one file, few dependencies (forgot sqlite is used here to get them), all your passwords are gone
a few years ago while I was cleaning out my sister's laptop I could see all the stored passwords in chrome
they didn't even bother censoring them out with asterisks, it was as simple as going into settings
multiple is still strange though
Are you being targeted? Was your new password just as predictable?
Yeah that already setup
Google told me that some of my accounts got compromised
you really should do a security audit and go through each account
Yeah
^and delete old accounts you'll never use again
read their privacy policy and if you're able to, ask them to delete everything about you too
the dsi application...?
I've heard of that yeah
I had an account there but nothing really there
One got an email that someone logged it so i logged out and changed password
Few days later they logged in again

Deleted the account
evernote is terrible
employees had access to accounts and passwords were in plaintext iirc
lots of people's accounts were signed into, notes were looked at, data was leaked
maybe your stuff was leaked then, 2019-2020?
malware possibly?
something about coming across wild malware is both interesting and fucking scary man
I came across another fake jailbreak tool that was actually a trojan, thankfully it was already investigated but it's interesting that it's available for macos and windows
Nevertheless I'll archive
I'm pissed off with these Unifans right now
Shlayer, interesting
wonder why they moved to python from bash with their older variants

nicely crafted fake pages prompting to install the malware under the veil of a Flash Player update
ah yes, classic
they get pretty crafty though, the one I got was from a fake unc0ver website tool
Fake Flash updates: Destroying PCs since 1997
fake unc0ver?
Was it just tossed in with the real thing, or did you not even get unc0ver with it?
nah it's just flat out fake
the actual tool is an ipa that would be sideload, they disguised it as a pretty gui that you run on your pc with your phone connected (does absolutely nothing to boot)
Ah, I was thinking of checkra1n
that seems high-effort
just grab a basic installer template, toss the malware in there with an outdated version of the real thing, and you're good. Wouldn't target something that gets distributed as a .ipa file and write a whole GUI
especially since it wouldn't be able to do much without actually using the exploits
pretty new too: this gem popped up in my video feed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o0r9YYPSN8
Best Tutorial - How to Jailbreak iOS 14 to 14.5.1 with Cydia!
More & Download - http://download.net.ua/unc0ver_x
How to install: Download and open Unc0ver X Installer, connect device using USB and click button. Waiting process, if installing success - you will see Unc0ver icon on homescreen!
Hey friends how you all doing? This time i am back w...
oh ewww
I'll never understand these type videos
ones where the person making it isn't the malware author but they waste time staging a fake tutorial of them using fake software
How do you even find people to make videos for you like this? Offer money in their email?
Was about to say... people would need incentive to do this
My other guess would be that they are the author but he's just using different accounts
that's possible
but then I have to wonder for people who spread things like WannaCry or Seguarzo or things like that
would the authors risk using a google account, knowing one of the largest tracking companies owns the video sharing platform?
I can really only imagine them emailing this person and pretending to be legitimate and requesting a tutorial video
or malware authors are very good at changing their voices/webcams for the few videos where they show that
then again this is youtube after all, I'd imagine shit like that just goes unnoticed
I'm sure they have some sort of protection against that, especially when releasing a potentially widespread virus like wannacry
You have any idea why bash is so popular for *nix-like/based systems but Windows shell scripting always gets ignored? Why is there never .bat or .ps1 stuff floating around?
hm
guess its just weird
feels like built-in python would make distributing and executing malware EXTREMELY easy on other OSes compared to learning and using just bash
of course the human factor is important, and the main reason why you can't just give people adware.py and have them run it
but Windows stuff is always c/c++ weirdly, no shell scripts, understandably no python/java/dotnet stuff that requires a download
probably because you'd have more flexibility with c rather than shell scripts for windows
@fathom parcelnot able to use my microphone at the moment
Whats going on?
I'm in a VC typing here, sorry about this. Should've gone to a DM, it just felt it would make more sense here with more people being able to help.
Breadboard it if you can, just an entire rebuild outside of the case, one last time
@fathom parcelGo with the shop if it doesn't cost money for them to take a quick look at it. Haven't had something like that before, sorry didn't get fixed.
I scratched my case 😦
The tall EATX Full tower from the other day 😦 ?
yep
Thankfully it's just the paint on the outside that's scratched, so could probably fix it with a coat of paint
And the unifan control box is broken.
Fixed it. Whew.
The tall case no longer has built in rgb... snapped the strip by accident while cable managing the strimer cables.
unfortunate
Dead channel
What do you think the GPU performance is closest to @brave field
Since its all from ryzen
I'm thinking RX 5700
maybe some optimization tweaks
Weaker than a 2060 in realtime RT, probably around the 2070 to 5700 area in raster
And some of leftover 8 core CPUs
also the CPUs are strange
they look like a 4800h which we discussed before
but the way the OSes are means they're even less so
The OS completely reserves 1-2 cores
not shares like on a PC, but fully reserves. Games can't even access it
True that lol I have seen
So basically@brave field
Looks like a 4800h
Performs like a 4600h
All because they wanted to do all these fancy game switch techniques with the OS
I mean I guess it's fine since that way the OS won't affect performance on the rest of the system but it just seems unnecessary
Also did you guys know that GTA dose work on phone as in easer phone however you would have to run a VM so you can run windows however because a razor phone dose have a good processor it dose happen to be able to run the game around a stunning 55 FPS with the classic low refresh rate allowing it to run 55 but look like 60 in the human eye so that’s not bad however if we’re talking battery 🔋 it dose not last long and I would only recommend this if you have plans for a power support
I'd rather a good clean non CPU intensive UI and more CPU performance than a wierd advanced ui with all these features I'll never use
add in that Microsoft was encouraging developers to aim for singlecore performance because of how clocks/power is set
its bizarre, yeah, but having the option to turn it off would be bad
If it does I'm not surprised
The good news is the one plus charger happens to be around 30 what’s to 20 what’s because of the good friend USB type C so it’s a faster charge depending on the device your running
Mobile processors are pretty powerful nowadays
And GTA 5 runs on a toaster
Well not really
But 720p 60 seems achievable
Maybe slightly less than 720p
I would of course still recommend having s power block or a power case that stores extra power so the psu dose not time itself out after a limited amount of time yes razor phones are using pc CPUs however still running Android APU and because of that you would have to run a VM on top and that can burn extra power lol
lowest settings 720p
I have a few doubts
I've been saying GTA can run on mobile processors for a couple years now
VMs on Android is in a terrible state
IDK why they haven't made a port
I haven't used one in years so I wouldn't know lmao
@brave field same here because if the CPU or any one of those fans quit the phone would quit because a phone is not meant for gaming however the hardware itself is
@brave field yes they are sadly a bad state however if you have pc components in your phone there’s no reason why it won’t run however you have to think of processing power
Because that’s a load lol it’s gonna have to go somewhere
Also, x86 on ARM is pain, regardless of components right now
And on top of that the razor 🪒phone dose opt about 16 GB of ram and 4 that can be switched to storage
@brave field haha true that 😂😂😂
Is there any videos of it running on Android?
It works however it’s a pain and it has low low gameplay and nope @sinful mural not that I have found lol
It of course would have to be tweaked to run tho
If you really do have proof of GTAV on Android I'm interested in the software they're using to emulate essential parts of Windows
Same
Yes because that would be a very high amount of software because most of windows base operation dose need physical hardware
I can't even find a good VM manager fkr Android on Android yet
VMOS is it, and its extremely shady
Rosetta is dead
Is it Windows on ARM?
How would they have Windows on the iPad without it?
Didn't they get a fully working copy of windows 8 on IOS? @brave field

@sinful mural I know for a fact they ported windows xp to iOS
You get like 5 fps but it works-ish
Wonder if it'll change with the m1 iPad
It’s pretty old though, I’m sure it runs much better now
How did they get that to work?
A direct port, since chunks of XP's source were released?
some translation/emulation/virtualization stuff?
Well I guess ported was the wrong word, they basically modified an xp image and made a virtual machine app
ibox it was called
I think they made a better vm app but I forgot what it was called
The frustrating thing is finding people that actually gave enough of a shit to even attempt it
It seems like windows XP runs relatively fine
Unfortunately it seems like Ram usage will be limited to only around 30%
interesting
M1 iPad pro has 16 gigs of ram
So
Can GTA run on 4 gigs of ram
Probably not very well
Couldn’t you artificially limit it to only 4 gb?
Oh nevermind
It probably could run
If only rockstar could make gta ports
Assuming you're running singleplayer, 4gb would be semi-okay on lowest settings
Lowest settings 720-900p wouldn't look that bad on an 11 inch screen
I actually think it could pull it off
The Xbox One does it with a total of 5gb split between system ram and vram
Gta 5 on my MacBook runs at a smooth 60 on normal settings
And this is on integrated graphics
I'm thinking realistically 30fps
The M1 is certainly capable hardware-wise
Maybe 60
I doubt apple would add Rosetta 2 to the iPad though
overkill, even. We'd see the same singlecore flaw every other platform has before any part of the M1 would be a limiting factor
Rosetta 2, what state is it in?
First it was going to be put on everything, then its macOS only, then its cancelled/removed, now its region-locked?
An Nvidia 9800GT and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. Can these two play Grand Theft Auto 5? Well let's pair them with 4 gigabytes of ram and find out!
Thanks for watching :)
Assuming the performance hit isn't too hard with the VM using m1
And allocating 4gb of memory
Probably could do 720p lowest
Either 30-40fps or more
Probably not more
Probably just 30-40fps
I guess available everywhere unless copyright laws say otherwise
Somebody got windows xp to work with half life
So that's something I guess
All we need now is for somebody to install 3d mark on Windows XP on their iPad pro @brave field
@brave field 9to5mac said it could be because translation software might use proprietary x86 code
ah
…Intel threatened Microsoft by claiming that the x86 architecture has proprietary technologies and could not be emulated on other processors without permission.
Just like the original Rosetta technology, Rosetta 2 lets users run macOS apps from one platform on another — this time translating Intel apps to the ARM architecture of the M1 chip. While I don’t expect Rosetta to go away any time soon, Apple may disable it in some regions as macOS 11.3 beta codes […]
Intel threatened Microsoft... wonder how that would go with Apple
I guess apple is playing the safe game but I’m sure apple could counter it if they wanted to
On one hand, Apple pretty much called Intel out and now Intel is advertising against them frop dropping their CPUs. On the other hand, Apple's mobile devices exclusively use Intel network adapters. But this is just in the realm of selling products, not really licensing or anything software, nor their actual business relationship
@fervent graniteWhat are your thoughts on something like a "jailbroken" ipad pro?
we don't really have much info on how things would be with the M1 ones but
I am back I just flopped kids ok league of legends
I’m really thinking about playing comp for this lol
I can see some Debian-based Linux distros being awesome on it if they could get the GPU in the M1 to work with it
Honestly shits insane lol
I mean it would certainly be a killer tablet
The thing that really holds it back is iOS
Tweak devs can do some amazing stuff but at the end of the day it’s limited by the os
if it is possible could i put two 3090s in my pc?
You could, its possible
so i didnt buy the second one for nothing...
If you're thinking of using two to get better performance in something like a game, its pointless
but for 3D rendering in something like Blender or Maya its very, very useful
no i just wanna tell people i have two 3090s
It would be so, so nice
M1 ipad with a stronger frame running Manjaro
no Apple software, no slimy Windows if you don't care about games
well apple software is partly what gives apple product's their "magic"
I suppose
yeah even the newer ios vm platform which is utm wouldn't take advantage of the m1's power
it requires a jailbreak for ios 14 and it doesn't support gpu virtualisation
given that the bootloader hasn't been cracked since the iphone 2g days I don't see it happening in the future for running native linux
ios is just... painful, sorta
I get the tradeoff between simplicity and power but its just too much
Sucks enough that windows disincentives people from learning by hiding pretty much everything as an "advanced" option or putting in "ease of use" features that are hard to disable and annoy power users
but ios is designed in a way where you don't even have a choice to mess with things if you wanted
Seeing macOS and iOS as products from the same company is just shocking
but the advantage is that they "just work" because they're made for the hardware that runs it
I guess it's just that they're made for the general audience, I mean try sitting your average user in front of an arch install screen and see how far they get
I can at least give macos props for giving you the option to enable su and disable sip, but ios can be both a blessing and a curse sometimes
something that's approachable, doesn't get in the user's way, doesn't make it hard to transition from an average user to a power user, but still is somehow hard to mess up would be ideal, but sadly is probably impossible
agh, deleted the dumb rant and I can't type out my thoughts either
read it anyway :P
I guess when they're making their os's they assume that the user won't know any "advanced" features
they could learn sure, but the reality I think is that most users just don't care to
I agree with that
in basically every pc os there's nothing stopping anyone from opening the command line, it's just unless they have a reason to they won't bother to
but not hiding a useful option deep within 3 menus would at least not disincentive people from attempting to learn as much, and then having that skill is better than being completely helpless
I think I have a way to express it
simple things shouldn't be weak, they should be simple
These companies could have much more capable customers if "simple" was also powerful and safe
so what you're saying is, they should bring order to complexity?
capable customers is the opposite of what most companies want, but it would be nice to have
urh, maybe, yeah
straight from jony ive
You're going to have something not work regardless of what device you try to use
but whether you choose to have a company fix it for you or you choose to fix it manually, you shouldn't ever be forced into one option, and you shouldn't have to fight against the software you use just to fix the issue
now that makes sense
I do agree but at the same time, there's always going to be something blocking you just because the company needs to make money
One of the biggest imo is proprietary hardware/software, there's no getting around it it's just the way it is
for example, although android gives you lots of freedom you can't really do much if your device's bootloader is locked, and that's just because it was designed that way
Yes and that's trash and I hate it
But nothing can be done. Its extremely profitable
And people are very quick to let go of their money
And even if you do work towards not being helpless, you still have to deal with not having control over your device 90% of the time
Google, Apple, and Microsoft all keep their backdoors to abuse for whenever they think it would make sense
There are benefits, but there are drawbacks too, and I wish we could have the former without the latter
it's kind of alarming that faang (faamg?) basically power the internet
but yeah at some point you just have to cut your losses
Anyone know how to replace the light strip in the Phanteks Enthoo 719?
Does it look like a normal 3/4/5pin RGB strip, or are they being "fancy"/anti-consumer and using a special connector or MOLEX/SATA/USB? @silent mason
It uses a standard 3 pin ARGB connection.
But it goes from the inside of the case around to the top, and then round the front and then round the bottom.
you able to tell if there are normal strips inside the casing there?
a standard strip behind that sort of translucent plastic
Yeah it looked like a normal strip inside the case. Dunno about outside.
ah
if you're able to find how they all connect together internally, it should be easy to grab an aftermarket strip and throw it in, its just that first part that would be difficult if its not built to be opened up
Yeah, if I could find a teardown for the case that'd help but it's so hard to find.
Other option is waiting just under 3 years for the warranty on the components inside to expire and then buying a new case.
Im not racist
ayo if anybody can like private vc and help me out with gta modding in story mode I downloaded all the openiv stuff and followed the tutorial but I think I messed up
crypto is crashing hard rn
wonder how low it will go and will miners panic sell gpus
panic sell gpus xd
all the newbies to crypto mining will probably do that if it falls low enough and the coin value goes low
we will see what happens though
idgaf about crypto itself i just want gpu availability to go up
Sadge
at this point im not even sure what gpu to get if the gpu crisis ever actually calms down
hey anyone know why mask vpn is installed on my pc lol i think its a virus cuz i havent and i dont see anywhere that windows pre installs it cuz like i dont wanna uninstall anything that can break my pc lol plz just ping or reply to this msg
It's a trojan. Get rid of it.
lol what found it through my firewall and it dosent sow up in ad or remove programs lmao i guess i gtg into the drive and then deep clean it lol
done also had pnk buster installed thanks m8
OK, so I just need to find someone who can solder some electronics together.
3060ti is a good bet
me
You're also very far away lol

Yeah, gotta get my case RGB resoldered
Hmm, should I get this?
yes
brother you need to wipe that piece of glass ✨ clean
I did. It smeared everywhere.
Also that was a photo from a few days ago, when I first received the PC. So probably a couple of weeks old photo.
how do you even get the case dirty like that
touching it once
well just dont touch it
Easier said than done when you've been making a lot of modifications to the system.
@night timber Do you know how I can send a list/dict using socket easily?
nope, didn't do socket programming before
I've read some SO posts about it but the best I have so far is to encode, convert it to a string, decode, and then put it inside eval() to turn it back into a list
ah
Something about having eval() in it worries me
eval doesn't worry me
exec does
I've seen some beginners commit unforgivable sins with exec, if you know what I mean
hm
how does that send lists/dicts? I don't get it exactly
From what I've understood while reading, I can't directly send the list through socket, and it acts weird when I try
and what does it have to do with the CSRF attacks I was talking about
aaa = str(aaa).encode()
s.send(aaa)
is on the client, and
aaa = aaa.decode()
aaa = eval(aaa)
is on the server
oh uh, nothing, was just wondering if you knew an alternative
I have't researched eval enough, is it easy for someone to just throw whatever malicious stuff they want in there?
ah, right, eval can have malicious input
that's why input sanitization is important
I don't exactly know how to explain it, so just take a look at this handy post: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/661084/security-of-pythons-eval-on-untrusted-strings
that was 12 years ago, but I doubt eval changed much
You can get to os using builtin functions
so that SO answer essentially just said to open up SSH but with no auth, very nice of that user
I wanted to do things the quick and easy way but I guess I'll write a function for dealing with it
eval was just such a nice way. The string without the eval statement is literally the list but as text
something like "['1','2','3']". But if I try to have that convert to a list automatically, it makes a list out of every character
ye, taking any unsanitized input is very dangerous, I never encountered someone doing malicious stuff with eval before, but it can happen (that's why I am struggling to answer a bit)
I mean, if the user can't input stuff to eval, which means only you input stuff to it, I guess it's safe
There's no user input, but the way the server/client is set lets anything that knows the port number interfere
any other device on the LAN that can send a string to that port can use the eval
oh, how would it interfere exactly? can it send direct input to your socket?
yeah
This is REALLY primitive and basic, there's no sort of auth or checking if the devices match or anything of the sort right now
Its "Here's a port, listen to whatever ends up here and evaluate it"
the reason I'm struggling with it is because I need the receiving one to turn the string back into a list, but what the sender will send varies in length, I can't just get substrings easily without first modifying the list before its sent, and that would probably slow things down a bit
I mean, that's pretty unsafe, you should code a function to sanitize user input before you evaluate it then, since I never used sockets before I don't really know how to help any further, but the solution here is to completely dump eval and find a way to send the list as a list, I'll do some research and tell you about the solution
is this over priced? ||if it had all the ports lol||
That's a very good question by a mac user.
Look up some $3500-$4000 Windows laptops and then answer your own question
@brave field Try: https://docs.python.org/3/library/ast.html#ast.literal_eval
Safer than eval and does what you want but it can still technically be used to crash the interpreter (warning inside)
>>> ast.literal_eval("['a', 2, 'b', 4, 6, 7]")
['a', 2, 'b', 4, 6, 7]```
If you absolutely need MacOS, then no
But a similarly priced Windows laptop will perform way better
That does have some good specs though
i always found windows shitty
although windows 7 was nice to work with
If you don't like Windows but don't need MacOS apps, get a Windows laptop and use Linux

I feel like most people who buys these know what they're looking for
yeah
ipad pro is a really good tablet but it's still a bit pricy
if im buying apple laptop its gonna be a pro model
I went with a 2014 15 inch model macbook pro
I would've gone for a newer model but I need the ports, it was a high-end model in good condition and because

What pc should I buy I’m in a 2k budget
Do you have access to Microcenter?
Yea
If you don't want to fight for your GPU, there's this system at Microcenter https://www.microcenter.com/product/630675/hp-omen-30l-gaming-computer?storeid=029. Note the mobo is custom and the cooling is trash
Should be $2050 or so. If you're fine with fighting to get the GPU, you'll save a bit of money
Alr I’ll look in to it and maybe increase my budget thank you though
prices are just really bad right now
if things can improve within 8 months, you'll be saving at least $400 or so (also, a $2000 PC might be huge overkill for what you're trying to do)
How would the graphics will be with a Xbox series x and a pc?
hm, there aren't too many games with the most direct comparisons but The Series X seems to run games in the range of Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 2060/Super
If there wasn't super high demand and production shortages right now, that would be somewhere in the $750-900 range depending on how much you spend for storage and dealhunting and such
Graphics comparisons between different systems isn't really easy or linear though, there are some things PCs can do easily that the Xbox struggles with and vice versa

Right, let's see if I can make Starship WiFi work
Which if it does, will be my old desktop running as a portable hotspot to make up for the dogshit WiFi in my room
And as for why it's called Starship WiFi... mum calls my room the Starship Enterprise because of all the tech I have in here, so it's a nod to that
Yep. It's just my room I want to buff the WiFi in
Rest of the house is already effectively served by a mesh WiFi network but my room refuses to cooperate with the mesh network.
OK got it working now. The WiFi password is 50 characters long though to help protect it

https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/computer-deals-electronics-on-sale/dell-g5-gaming-desktop/spd/g-series-5000-desktop/mktgd5000 quick question do you think this desktop is good or bad?
bad
- Its Dell, and they like to do Dell things (making PCs impossible to upgrade or repair easily, intentionally slowing them down/breaking them, hidden fees, bloat)
- The prices are terrible as well
I'd avoid them
There's another version that's like 1.6k I'll tell you the components in a sec
Also, the sub-$1000 ones don't have SSDs, so its almost entirely pointless to have modern parts
10th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-10700F processor(8-Core, 16M Cache, 2.9GHz to 4.8GHz)
laptop
Windows 10 Home English
videocard

16GB, 2x8GB, DDR4, 2933Mhz
harddrive
512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

500W Chassis with Bezel and Internal Lighting + Clear Door
that's the 1.6k version
Not worth it imo
Dont u ever think about that piece of junk ,,, it's just a fucking e waste
using a bot for the 3060 ti and buying it at a $100 markup and then getting equivalent parts will cost something around $1300
you'll be able to repair it, upgrade it, resell it
Its drives won't die a month after its warranty is up
you won't need to reinstall Windows as soon as you get it
and you won't be roped into their other nonsense
And it has thermal and build issues
I was never gonna get it anyway
gotta love that slightly extended mobo for the front IO
Their PCs around 2008 weren't actually too bad
custom mobo, yeah, but everything else was usable
I'm gonna find a monitor with built in speakers real quick
Turned out the charger has a chip that handshake the laptop then starts charging
That one was messed up and u can only replace it by a charger from dell that costs 80$
@rustic cape u better off with bluetooth speaker
tbh they arent that good
they do the job, but not good
I was only gonna use the built in speakers for youtube and netflix
Yes they are usually horrible
Most of them are pretty bad even for that
You'll get better quality using an app to stream the audio to your phone's speaker
https://deals.dell.com/en-us/productdetail/8rni Is this monitor good?
A 24-inch FHD gaming monitor. The 144Hz refresh rates, 1ms response time and a new, cooling design deliver swift, responsive gameplay.
TN panel at $160, hmmm
1080p144IPS should be cheap enough now, I'd look elsewhere
This might be a dumb question but do I need anything else so I can hear my games or do I just need my headset?
Only headset
a speaker or headphones of some sort, anything that outputs audio will do
Yes, stay away from TN panels
Va is good and cheap
Ips looks amazing but more expensive
Is spectre a good monitor brand?
Most of them use Samsung or LG panels so the brand doesn't matter most of the time
Make sure it has a display port and the size u want
I'm gonna try to find a monitor that's below $200
try asus or dell
The AOC C24G1 looks interesting
the fuck a monitor for $499

Almost starting to feel like x86 raspbian is a good choice
yo guys i have 25 GB of data used (ethernet) is that bad, and doeds it cost money?
not me
25gb isnt a lot if its a pc you use daily. And it may or may not cost money. Where i live its usually that you just purchase some speed and you always pay the same no matter how much you use. But sometimes it may be that either the amount of data is capped or you pay for how much you use.
ok bc the limit is 15 but i have more
if the limit is 15 and you used more, it will either cost extra money or you will now only get slower connection.
Should I buy the rtx 3080?
Or buy a new cpu
Cause my Processor is kinda f-Ing up but my graphics in my pc is as
What do you have right now?
Amd ryzen 7. 5800x and a rtx 2800 ti
What are you using this for? For most uses, you can't get anything significantly better than the 5800x, and the 2080ti also doesn't really have much worth upgrading to
5800x is a beast
if you really want graphics upgrade next step up is a 3090 tbh since 3080 wont be worthwhile
or keep 2080t
Just wondering about the workload, some will do better with a component change but there's no way this is for playing games, surely?
Problem is with my 2800 ti it’s always over heating and it f up my pc
Just I don’t know what is the problem
I’m planning to be a graphics designer for rockstar one day lol
ah
Your 2080 ti should be throttling itself far before there are any actual overheating issues. Is your GPU getting to 100C or so and shutting off completely?
It’s keep shutting off everytime I do school work gaming, etc
grab HWiNFO64 and MSI Afterburner/EVGA XOC and monitor it
Alright what’s the cost?
Modern GPUs should NOT get hot enough to shut themselves off EVER
They're free, you don't have to pay anything
Ok ima Check them out thank you
lmao
whomvste pinged
Guys
Gta is such a big game
But the min specs aren’t even that bad
Btw is this the official server or nah
There is no official server
and yeah, the minimum specs are ps360 era, story mode runs surprisingly well on low end hardware
Ah the ol PS-360 when the console wars finally ended and they merged into the ultimate console.
its weird how bad gta scales up with better hardware but it can run on a potato no issues
It heavily favors singlethread performance, which really hasn't improved that much since 2011
The i7 2600 is still very viable for many games, only falling behind a bit the past 2 years with VK/D3D12 adoption increasing
1-2% gains each year for a decade and then maybe an 8% or so increase more recently kinda sucks
do you think it's better to get a newer, mid-range cpu or a high-end older cpu?
like for example would an 8th gen i7 be better than a 10th gen i5?
Yeah, hopefully GTA runs good on my 5900X at 2.5GHz
(It's set that low to prevent overheating until I can get my big honking Noctua NH-D15 installed)
Yes, I lowered the clock from 3.7GHz to 2.5GHz
Doesn’t it dynamically change the clock speed depending on the load?
@silent mason use Ryzen CTR
I've already got the Noctua. Just need to get my cousin to fit it
Anyone know why Whoogle keeps its Tor service running and uses 80mb of ram when not actively being used?
and mostly useless
who would pay that
wow such a good deal
i might buy one for my pc 👍
but why they gotta make it look like that though?
it's like an irl person wearing excessive bling
I NEED A MODDER PLS IM LVL 1 WITH 4K

If I entered a site and that site gave me viruses and then I deleted all the history of all the cooks, data and cache I still have problems?
At a time when my phone had 2% he said that in 30 seconds it will close TABLETA if I do not charge it
Thrvpad
Tablet! And I'm off the telef
Phone
Pls help me
Simply going to a site won't give you a virus
If you're talking about one of those fake mobile popups, just close the tab. If you didn't download anything, you're fine
Since theres still almost no ps4 emulation do u guys think a ps5 one is gonna be possible before the decade is over lol
Effectively I deleted everything possible to delete from google
But my phone was telling me the tablet was off! This tablet
What tablet
Wtf
And when I entered that site I did not allow him to give me notifications
Do you think it was bug or virus
neither
Those mobile popups are everywhere
and its normal for them to be wrong and misrepresent your device
especially if you're on Android
Okay, so it's not a virus.
LG and Motorola phones running Bromite or other Chrome forks in particular get detected as tablets, Kindle Fires, or even Android Desktop systems often
I'm from huawei
So it's okay to make mistakes once in a while? It's not virus it's buh
Bug
I think I misinterpreted this, actually
Its no issue if your phone says "plug in this tablet" when at low battery, its possible Huawei made a mistake there.
The site should not have given you any problems if you didn't download anything, still, but the charging message, if it happened outside of your web browser or app, is fine
If you DID download and install something, you'll have issues, though. You should uninstall whatever you uninstalled if that's the case.
@hearty stirrup I think PS5 emulation isn't going to progress at all until PS4 gets worked out, yeah
I didn't install anything
PS4 emulation is making some nice progress but they're getting held up working on however the OS deals with splitting that one chunk of 8gb of ram into vram and ram for the OS and ram for the main app being run. The PS5 being so close to PC hardware now is also a problem. AMD and Intel would need to improve much more than they did over the past decade by then
Oh thank you so much I was very scared
I think we'd need the sort of performance gains you'd see in the 90's for PS4 emulation to be viable even if the emulators were perfect
Yeah just a quick google search shows pretty much no actual ps4 games are emulated at all
Spine can run the Megaman collection, Orbital can run the home menu in safe mode
GPCS4 can output sound, I think
Looked up ps5 emulator for fun so many fake programs and videos
I really hate all the fakes and such
Nobody new to emulation wants to try something out and their first attempt ends in ransomware 😦
PCSX4's site needs to get destroyed
another fake, a long-standing one
Is device emulation the only way or is there another way people recode console games to pc
They can make a native or semi-native port if the source code for the game gets released
That happens with old games i assume?
Or just leaks
Heard something about projectred or whatever cyberpunk studio is called get hacked and the threat was leaking source code lol
No idea how the situation turned out
I think they restored from a backup
Source code can get out for any game
but you need the assets too
that's a bit easier for older games where you might be able to substitute things like textures from the console version's files. Mario 64 PC and GTA 3/VC PC both work this way.
But for many games you still have the issues of system-specific calls in the source code, audio being processed differently by different platforms and anything GPU-related will be incompatible. Even harder for new games where shaders have to be compiled and the GPU-related work was done in full by the original developers instead of letting the GPU driver do all the work. I don't really work on this stuff, its probably extremely tiring and annoying to deal with
Yeah and game specific whereas if device emulation works all games should
My 3200g wasnt good enough for the ps3 god of war 3 game should i even try zelda and mario for the switch
If the Zelda game you're interested in is BoTW, dump the game from a Wii U and play it on CEMU instead
PS3 emulation is insane
Yeah botw and odyssey
BoTW will have a few hiccups on a 4 core but its very, very playable. If you play the game at its native 720p30 it'll be flawless.
Playing at 1080p with the framerate unlocking packs gave me around 50-70fps on a 2200g about a year and a half ago
around 40fps at worst
Not a perfect 60 but if you have Freesync/gsync it'll be good
That is very playable in my book
considering playing it on your own switch or wii u has drops into the low 20s, yeah, its pretty good
CEMU's creators did really well, wish it was open source
God of war 3 ran at 9 fps really not playable
You really need 12+ threads for RPCS3 or Intel TSX, everything else just suffers
Last of us is also a console exclusive right
The emulation for the SPUs/PPE is going need 6 threads at least to work well
Last of Us is console-exclusive, yeah
Days Gone just got ported to PC though, so maybe it'll show up in a year?
Alright nice talking to you gonna watch resident evil village now 😂
Horizon, Detroit, Days Gone, Death Stranding, soon FF7R, lots of PS exclusives seem to be on PC now
alrighty, enjoy
Used a XP Virtual machine installed visual studio 2003 and installed Xbox Neighborhood and took these raw screenshots from my original Xbox
So yes this is tech related
Question: I'm trying to make a build for my friend, and I'm not sure which PSU to pick. They're on a limited budget of ~900£, I don't want to go for something so expensive, neither do I want the mobo and GPU to die, what do you suggest?
Depends on what components he has, but assuming 11400/f + RTX 3060-3070, the TX650M is currently on sale and worth taking a look at https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/PVzZxr/corsair-txm-gold-650w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020132-na
Looking through UK PCPP, the only other PSU that isn't a bomb in this price range or lower is the CX550M, at just 1 quid less (though, its not as good a PSU. Its build causes buzzing sounds, occasionally https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/3hkwrH/corsair-power-supply-cp9020102na)
Why a 3600x with 1660S? Is the 3600x heavily discounted right now?
They don't want to build the PC themselves, so they're doing it through a website, and that's the best CPU I could find, you don't get to choose whatever you like
ah
I wish I could've gone for a 2600x
Because I'm well over budget rn
I'll give you a link to it if you're free, you can probably make the best out of that 900, unlike myself
His is under the "Ryzen Extreme" category?
any idea on 2d vs 3d?
a program he uses, maybe?
makes a huge difference with hardware now
A 2060 is roughly 6x as fast as a 1660 super in rendering in Blender Cycles, he'll REALLY not want to miss out on that even if it requires more work and going through parts of the build process
and it should fit in this budget if we cut down on all the parts this site overcharges for, like storage, and replace them with store-bought ones
She'll be using a program called "Maya", also they want to game on the system
For 3d animating
Maya has Arnold, hm
The GPU is a bit less important there but the denoising makes the viewport much better still
I'll just act like I know what you're talking about
Uh, an RTX GPU is still very useful here but its not a make or break like it is with some other 3d animation programs
This comes out to £755 without VAT for me, did that 900 from before include VAT?
They just said they'll also use Unity
I'm not sure what you have on the site, but toss in the TX550M and swap the 3600x for a 3600
Oh I misread that, my bad
I couldn't get it under 900
and if you can, ask when they'll have 10400/f in stock again, its nearly £60 cheaper than the 10500 they offer and is cheaper than the Ryzen options too
I get it to fit under £900 by dropping to a 1TB hard drive and 256gb SSD but neither of those are great to cut down on for this, agh
You can have 100 more in that case
They just prefer to stay under 900
But their full budget is 1000
gonna go with 3600 + 1660S + B450-Plus, the 2400mhz 2x8gb kit unfortunately, 256GB SSD, 2TB Barracuda, the TX550M, and removing the wifi card and recovery media and OS license
Which SSD did you take?
Took the mystery SATA one
Great. Didn't realise they had to charge 70 just for the OS
Unity and Maya also both run very well on Linux, if she can't get ahold of a Windows 7/8 key and hates the watermark
We shall see. Thank you very much, friend!
anytime, friend
Argh, now that I've finished arguing with the Asus ROG BIOS and AiSuite, my Unifans are finally under control
Got a question. I have a cable drop comcast replaced 2 years ago that still hasn't been buried, even with us constantly calling and trying to get them to bury it, and I'm frankly sick of dodging it every time I need to mow the lawn. What would be the best way for me to bury it myself? I have some sprinkler lines I'd rather not hit that I'm unable to locate at the moment, and I'm also wondering if I should install a conduit as well.
Also, how would I locate the sprinkler lines?
Aptio setup utility 2012 in an old ASUS. Does anyone know how to solve it? Even if i press "exit", it goes back to this screen
Ping me if you know it please
@olive daggerdo you have a "Launch CSM" option?
Let me check
...i'm starting it up and it shows the asus logo instead of the screen
Did it fix itself
I've googled it and apparently closing the screen isn't permanent tho
HOLY it's started up normally, what the hell?
Seems this issue is related to secure boot, a feature that doesn't benefit the user at all while causing problems if something goes wrong
might look into disabling it if this happens again
I tried disabling it and even if i saved and left it would go back to the screen
Secure boot relies on both your OS install being good and your mobo
its possible something weird is going on with your OS, then
The only way to do it is to dig down at the sprinkler head to see which direction the line goes. Draw a diagram of your yard and plot the heads to get a picture of the layout. Sprinkler systems usually only use 90° bends and Ts, and have straight runs, so with some guesswork it shouldn't be too bad to trace back to your inlet.
If memory serves they are usually buried like 5 to 8 inches deep at max. Been a long time since I had to repair one so I could be wrong on the depth.
got it, i'll map it out using your suggestion. Should I use conduit or just simply bury the line?
no idea
so my pc takes longer to boot than before and my windows defender threat service isnt working
is there anything i can do except reinstall windows
Install a better anti virus like bit defender
And check your startup apps and services
oh well
i have 3rd party antivirus(malwarebytes) for now
and almost all my startup services except windows defender and realtek audio are disabled
When u install another anti virus windows defender gets disabled
You remember me.
the tablet will close in 30 seconds if you do not charge it
That's what he looks like to me when he's 2% left.
So it's okay? Is it a bug from huawei?
why
I think that u can get a sleeve for them
but since they're black just try to tuck them somewhere, i dont notice them a lot of builds with the same cooler
you can try to ziptie them together while keeping the microusb cable at the top so it hides the other cables a little bit
Why is it that when I put my finger above the front of the phone, my ecren actually closes and when I take it inapoo it opens?
Who's a mining nerd here, is crypto finally fuckin dying or
cryptocurrencies aren't dying and mining is still very profitable, around where things were in early February @jovial tide
F
You really aren't going to see cryptocurrencies as a whole die for a long time. If any worthwhile die in the next 3-4 years, it could really only be BTC, if the whole supply being mined causes it to become worthless, or DOGE
hardware communities are so toxic right now
i have been mining for a bit over a week now
earned like $7
thats how i got nitro
DOGE deserves a painful death though, its one of the few coins that actually don't provide anything worthwhile
$7, what are you mining?
What GPU?
