echo mural
#

for some reason my obs video quality is garbage

brave field
#

hm

#

that looks almost like the spike in CPU_Time a few other people had

#

not real performance issues, just the game deciding to randomly destroy itself for about half a second

echo mural
#

lol

#

then it does that way too often

arctic yarrow
#

Hmm, do you happen to have the game running on a HDD?

#

Or SSD?

echo mural
#

hdd

#

i don't have enough space to put the game on ssd

#

the game is on an external hdd, i could move the game to internal hdd but i dont think it makes a big difference does it? @arctic yarrow

arctic yarrow
#

I've not played any CoD titles in a while, but I know in some modern games, especially open world titles, I experience frame drops like you experience on a HDD, but not on a SSD.

main cipher
#

ssd is better

arctic yarrow
#

Are you able to move some data from your SSD to your HDD, then install it on your SSD temporarily?

arctic yarrow
#

Anyway, that might help you figure out if the problem is with an IO read bottleneck, or another component.

echo mural
#

no it's literally a 128gb ssd lol @arctic yarrow

#

best i can do is move it to the other hdd that has slightly better write and read speeds

arctic yarrow
echo mural
#

are external ssd's good

arctic yarrow
#

500gb SSDs go for around 50 USD currently.

#

Steam doesn't like external SSDs for some reason when installing games, but they run fine after they're installed.

brave field
#

The last few people with this issue have had it fixed when they upgraded from 4c8t to 6c12t, even though usage isn't nearing 100%, so I'm guessing it really is something related to how the game handles or doesn't handle HT/SMT

arctic yarrow
#

Problem is, his motherboard doesn't support more than 4c/8t

brave field
#

yeah, and with the value Intel CPUs keep on the used market, even if there was, it would cost more than new mobo + new CPU, sadly

arctic yarrow
#

I forgot, does 6th gen intel use DDR3 or DDR4?

brave field
#

6th gen is made for DDR4 but it accepts and can use DDR3L with certain boards

#

normal DDR3 is bad for the IMC

arctic yarrow
#

OK, then getting a b550 board with a midrange 3rd gen ryzen might be a good budget option.

#

The only reason why I recommend b550 if you're looking at an upgrade is due to AMD making their CPUs backwards compatible for as long as possible (Unless you're using ASUS)

#

That way, you have a path to upgrade in the future.

brave field
#

I'd try to hold out for as long as possible

#

AM4 is about to be replaced and so will LGA1200

#

9 months is a pretty long wait, but regardless of which you choose your upgrade options will be limited

arctic yarrow
#

Gotcha, AMD hit their limit on AM4?

brave field
#

Ryzen 5000 is it for AM4

arctic yarrow
#

RIP

brave field
#

unless something goes wrong and they make a Ryzen 5000+/6000 but that would just be a refresh, not a new arch

arctic yarrow
#

Makes sense tho. They've been running the same socket for 4+ years now.

echo mural
#

okay here's a fun one, it seems the frame drops are caused by discord, without discord running i hardly get drops @arctic yarrow @brave field

brave field
#

ah

#

disable hardware acceleration in Discord's settings

#

same for your web browser

#

if its off, enable it, then

echo mural
#

its off on discord

#

and on in chrome

#

should i just try with it dsiabled in disc and chrome

brave field
#

turn it on in discord then

#

whatever its at, do the other

echo mural
#

okay

brave field
#

ignore the web browser for now, set it and test performance

echo mural
#

okay

#

with acceleration on on disc it feels less frequent/worse drops , but overall performance feels worser

brave field
#

ah

#

Discord/Chrome/Firefox hardware acceleration mainly changes what is used to render the program, embedded videos, and gifs, on being GPU and off being CPU

#

I guess mess around with whichever is most comfortable

#

Do you have the Discord Overlay enabled? That hurts performance quite a bit too, even if you don't use the hotkey to open it

brave field
#

ooooh nice

#

You running this on your UnRAID system?

#

ah

#

The SWAG thing, how much ram does it use for you?

#

I was going to setup PiHole, Plex, SWAG, a backup of English Wikipedia
Yesterday I made the dumb mistake of doing my actual full OMV setup on a Raspberry pi 3a+ that I bought only for testing

#

45mb ouch

#

my 432mb of usable ram and 57% idle ram usage cringes at that

#

5-6GB of ram, how?

#

I've got loads of things running and somehow only use 200something mb

#

makes sense

#

It takes nearly 2 minutes to reload after changing any OMV settings Sadge

#

When I get some free time I'm going to try and clone everything over

#

hey uh, you have a firewall setup?

#

Software-side, with iptables or ufw or something similar?

#

ah

#

Still trying to wrap my head around the reverse proxy and VPN stuff

#

I have no firewall on the server and my router is doing its normal blocking of everything, I've heard using a VPN setup lets you connect form the outside witout using port-forwarding?

#

thought it sounded off

#

not UnRAID, OpenMediaVault, free bootleg with less easy-to-install plugins

#

I see, hm

#

I have the options to get openVPN or PiVPN and have to use SSH for configuring them or use Docker for it

#

Is UnRAID's VPN based on some other software?

#

setup guides seem... really easy?

#

install, have the port ready, scan qr code with phone?

#

The setup guide I'm reading is for OMV, the author says he wanted to make it similar to how its done with other setups are but his bash script is made in a way that makes it only work on his own PC

#

Money for convenience, a fair trade

#

Another question

#

Does SWAG interfere with other Apache/NGINX installs you have?

#

Say if I wanted a local-only website and one open to the internet, do I have to use different ports there or do the other components of swag + Cloudflare make it so I don't have to

#

ah

#

alrighty

#

only other thing I see is having double fail2ban running on my system

#

but that shouldn't hurt anything

#

I have an OMV-wide fail2ban installed but not running, yet. I have family members who routinely install malware on their systems

#

I'm probably thinking wrong but wouldn't the internet-available site be double fail2ban protected, once in Docker from SWAG and the other being OMV/server-wide?

#

hm, that explains it

#

I was surprised seeing how efficient Docker was so far, Docker on WSL2 is terrible in comparison

#

I think I'll just buy another raspberry pi and have that one be the internet-facing server

#

interesting

#

You know much about the probing bots and such online?

#

I made something in python using socket and I have an eval() statement around the packets received

#

Are they good enough to... idk, find out I have that in there and throw a rm -rf at my server?

#

thanks for the link

#

I'll try this out

tame current
#

What's an example of a ram brand which gives 32gb?

stone harbor
#

for 32 you would probably need 4x8

tame current
#

4x8?

stone harbor
#

4 sticks with 8 gb each

#

you could also get 2x16

jovial tide
#

Go 2x16

tame current
#

I was thinking of 2x32, if it exists.

jovial tide
#

you have the open slots for the future

stone harbor
#

2x32?

tame current
#

Yes

stone harbor
#

are you insane

jovial tide
#

It exists

stone harbor
#

thats so expensive

#

and unnecessary

jovial tide
#

What was your pc for again

tame current
#

Flight simulator and I'm just curious how did people get 64gb

jovial tide
#

2x32 or 4x16

jovial tide
#

Crucial ballistix 3200 c16 of 3600 c16

#

why not

#

oh

#

eh I’d rather have open slots and sometimes it’s more finnicky to get 4 sticks running with xmp

stone harbor
#

i feel even 32gb is a bit much

jovial tide
#

If he wasn’t playing that I’d say 16

stone harbor
#

yeah

#

the system (with a bunch of background stuff) uses about 3-6 gb

#

and most apps wont use more than 2 or 3

jovial tide
#

I have 32 in my system

tame current
#

1pc 32 will be bad, right?

jovial tide
arctic yarrow
jovial tide
#

Single channel especially on ryzen hurts performance

stone harbor
#

isn't it the more sticks the better

#

because load can distribute more evenly

jovial tide
#

2 is usually the best for gaming

stone harbor
#

instead of bottlenecking only 1

arctic yarrow
jovial tide
#

Most of the high end overclocking boards only have 2 lol

tame current
#

Thank you guys

#

The advantage of 2 pcs would be more vacant slots, hehe.

arctic yarrow
#

My view is if you're gaming, I would recommend 2x16. However, if you think you're going to need a serious amount of RAM in the future and can't fill it up now, go for the 1x32.

tame current
#

As of now, I think the reason why people get 64gb is either flexing or futureproofing.

brave field
#

ramdisk, caching/buffer for video, heavy VM use?

arctic yarrow
#

Only if you have quad channel memory. Otherwise 2x16 would perform identically.

#

Thanks for correcting me. I'm probably still thinking about performance back in 2014.

#

It doesn't seem to make that huge of a difference though.

tame current
#

4 pcs would be the max, right?

stone harbor
#

what if i do 16x2 and 2 dummy sticks

arctic yarrow
tame current
#

I have an idea. Pentium 1 with GPU and RAM at Pentium 1 level for Flight Simulator 2020. kek

fervent granite

is it possible to take off those rainbow things?

stone harbor

you can turn them off with a program

jovial tide
fervent granite
tame current
#

Ram card brands don't matter that much, right?

jovial tide
#

id stick with ballisitx imo

tame current
#

What would different brands do?

jovial tide
#

ive heard they are great overclockers and look nice

jovial tide
tame current
#

Oh

#

I'm curious because I found a Gskill Ripjaws DDR4 32gb ram card which seems to be cheaper than the Corsair Vengeance 32gb ram.

brave field
#

Often the brands are only in charge of aesthetics and warranty

#

Consumer ram production is still done only by Samsung, Micron, and Hynix

tame current
#

How about performance wise?

#

Do brands matter?

#

Given that we only use 1 brand.

brave field
#

If cl, rank, and mhz is the same, and people online are reporting similar die type, they're probably identical sticks underneath the plastic cover

tame current
#

Oh

#

Hmph, the RTX 3070 I see which is available is expensive, more expensive than the competitor's RTX 3080 from same brand.

tame current
#

I'm searching in online shops from our country, different, both are legit but the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 3070 available seems overpriced but hey, it's available. The ZOTAC GAMING RTX 3080 being sold in another shop is out of stock though but cheaper than the former.

jovial tide
#

the tuf 3080 non oc was like 700 but was discontinued

#

still that price i think

tame current
#

The shop which sells that overpriced GPU seems to overprice their GPUs like an RTX 3060 there would be a price of RTX 3070 in the other.

jovial tide
#

some 3060s cost more than 3070

tame current
#

Oh, but why?

jovial tide
#

manufacturers setting that price because nvidia sells them the chips for too much and because they can bc of high demand

tame current
#

Oh

tame current
#

DDR5 will be released at Q3 2021, what do you guys think about it?

silent mason
#

Meh... I'd rather stick with DDR4

tame current
#

And what does f stand for in the intel? Like 11900f?

jovial tide
tame current
#

Oh

#

So it means it's not like k so it can't be overclocked.

jovial tide
#

Why is windows update taking so long

tame current
#

DDR5 is said to be faster while using less power than DDR4.

silent mason
#

I'm still on DDR3... DDR4 is still gonna be a massive upgrade for me

brave field
#

Early DDR5 will suck, just like early DDR4 and early DDR3

brave field

So being stuck with Chroma protocol to me isn't a bad thing. I really like Chroma.

kindred temple

I dont, fuck synapse. KEKW

but yeah

#

then go for it honestly

silent mason
#

Yeah, each input can be controlled individually too which I really like.

#

If I use an Aura one, then my peripherals are snookered and if I AuraConnect it in, then well, it only shows as a single device.

#

Also, rgb.net is able to tap into Synapse too, as well as Corsair, Aura, etc.

#

Though yeah, preference for Synapse here. I have to install iCUE though so I can tell my RAM to leave it to Asus Aura to control its lighting.

#

Though will have 4 software installed for that stuff. Razer Synapse (main), Asus Aura (motherboard and GPU), Corsair iCUE (RAM, but has motherboard option), Lian Li L-Connect (case fans and rgb cables, also has ARGB header control option)

I only have 1

I can control motherboard RGB from the bios
And my fans can be controlled by the Coolermaster controller which is programable so I don't need its software installed or running

The findings have been shared with the Wi-Fi Alliance, following which firmware updates were prepared during a 9-month-long coordinated disclosure period. Microsoft, for its part, released fixes for some of the flaws (CVE-2020-24587, CVE-2020-24588, and CVE-2020-26144) as part of its Patch Tuesday update for May 2021. Vanhoef said an updated Linux kernel is in the works for actively supported distributions.

#

But the thing i wonder with this is:

According to Vanhoef, the issues stem from "widespread" programming mistakes encoded in the implementation of the standard, with some flaws dating all the way back to 1997. The vulnerabilities have to do with the way the standard fragments and aggregates frames, allowing threat actors to inject arbitrary packets and trick a victim into using a malicious DNS server, or forge the frames to siphon data.

#

Does this mean manual DNS overrides can be a fix?

brave field
#

Doesn't seem the easiest to exploit

kindred temple
#

Thats kinda my issue with most exploit news nowadays

#

its so hard to pull by script kiddies, its basically

#

"youll need to plug in the hacked up flash drive to the mainframe"

brave field
#

this demonstration video is cool, but the first attack seems very cumbersome

#

you have to infect the server, have a copy of the page ready, and get the user to connect to a clone of the network

#

If someone wants to do it, it'll get done, but it doesn't seem easy enough to warrant any sort of emergency update to fix it

#

third one is interesting and seems practical

@jovial tide I mean yea, open source softwares are the way to go these days, but even those still can be vulnerable

everything can get exploited

#

frankly speaking ,everything that is connected to internet is not safe

who knows, im sure there are many 0days actively being exploited right now, and they may not even be known for months or years, it's really hideous.

Is there a way I can tunnel traffic from my PC through an SSH server but have a custom HTTP header on the traffic between my PC and the SSH server?

strong saffron
spring condor
#

why do you need a http header for a SSH server

strong saffron
#

to get around some ISP restrictions zoom

cold elbow
#

I use a vpn that support split tunneling

strong saffron

VPNs are also not allowed monkaHmm

spring condor
#

proxy tunnel looks like a viable option, but you will need to start ssh on the server and setup redirects from 443 to 22

strong saffron
#

blocked, i guess. it's not illegal or anything

#

i have no idea. I doubt they've blocked proper VPNs because no one pays for those here. This is also not on my connection so I can't test either. They just say it's blocked

#

yeah that's pretty much what I've read as well. I'll take a look at nginx too, thanks

#

was kinda hoping to not have to pay for a VPN though wallet

cold elbow

and u can create a custom plan and pay like a dollar or two for one country of your choice

jovial tide

why it says in my friend list just ' show profile
i want to invite him to the game

cold elbow

strong saffron

How does that work? If I'm hosting a VPN, wouldn't it be also restricted because the VPN connects to the internet through the same ISP?

crisp spoke
cold elbow

depends on your use
for some of us is essential since u can control pretty much everything and Icue is a good software

crisp spoke

Yeah but i just have a corsair radiator with two fans. Should i spent on that just to control the rgb?

cold elbow
#

for me i wanted it mainly to control my fans since my mobo controls sucks

zealous pasture
#

lol

cold elbow
#

is it an AIO that supports icue? @crisp spoke

cold elbow
#

oh cool then u can control your fans with that

#

and u can get a fan with it's controller from corsair

crisp spoke
#

Let's see. Planning to get one today.

silent mason

My case fans all connect to a single hub from Lian Li, which then uses an argb header. I probably need more usb2 headers though. :(

jovial tide

Ok

#

Well thx anyway

silent mason
#

Urgh, not looking forward to having another argument with Asus Armoury Crate and Corsair iCUE

crisp spoke
silent mason
#

(and then with that Chroma controller in there, I'll also be using ChromaControl to pull from iCUE to Synapse, to have all RGB in one place)

crisp spoke
#

Well i don't think iCUE will be able to control anything which was not made by Corsair. If there's anything that can give me the same result which I'm expecting from commander pro I'll take that

#

Basically i want that just so that my radiator fan color and rear fan color syncs together and doesn't make my CPU look like a rainbow šŸ˜

silent mason
crisp spoke
silent mason
#

So things not made by Corsair aren't automatically ineligible for iCUE control. Asus partnered officially with Corsair for it, but for other brands there's probably third party solutions to drag them into iCUE.

#

For example there's ChromaControl being developed atm which will take my Asus and Corsair RGB and plug it into Razer Synapse.

crisp spoke
silent mason
#

As for your individual case, probably worth asking that in the Corsair server as there'll be people there much more knowledgeable than me on the nuances of Asus and iCUE

crisp spoke
#

Thanks for the idea. Lets see

rich people dont do stuff like that

brave field
#

it seems most of these ebay purchases are individuals who refuse to set up a bot to buy for them rather than mining farms

glass sapphire

idk ebay was always sketch

#

i usually avoid it

brave field
#

ebay is my go-to

their customer service team and it being a toxic place for sellers makes it unfairly safe for the buyer

get a bit nervous trying to sell old parts there, scamming a seller as a customer is far too easy

i mostly do business with people i know

light totem
#

that's quite concerning

cold elbow
#

my shitbox pc arrived so i can start building a server
not sure which OS to use now

brave field
#

Don't pick Windows

#

Debian-based distros (Ubuntu server, maybe?) seem to have the most support since they're both easy to install and use

cold elbow
#

@brave field i actually just downloaded popOS

#

Is that a good one since it's based on Linux

#

System came with windows 7 so im stressing now to test the thermals

brave field
#

Haven't used Pop! really, but it looks fine to me. I hear that one a lot when people talk about gaming and such, it might have a bit of extra stuff installed and running that wouldn't be useful for the server parts of your system

cold elbow
#

Yeah it's kinda more updated and more user friendly

#

Im not good with linux tbh

brave field
#

I think I'd go for something cut down a little more, they're talking about GameHub and having high-power graphics switching apps and their alternative to the Google Play Store and such on their site, and you might have some oddities with it encrypting your OS partition as part of the install process

#

Probably something like Lubuntu or Xubuntu if you don't want to start off headless and don't want to dedicate too many resources to the desktop environment. Pop's description doesn't really say much about being more user-friendly (well, it does say it, but nothing seems to say why it would be so) than those two, and those two will already feel pretty familiar to a Windows user.

cold elbow
#

Which one do u prefer
I mainly want to use it as a file server and need to setup a nextcloud
Maybe in future block ads with it and make plex server

#

Installed pop now to experiment how nextcloud even works then will probably using another distro or TrueNas

#

Since unraid cost a lot

brave field
#

Note FreeNAS/TrueNAS is based on BSD rather than the normal Linux kernel, not sure how much that will change exactly, but that could impact something

cold elbow
#

Yeah only concern that they want 8gb ram

#

That is not promising for my shitbox

brave field
#

I'm using OpenMediaVault as an alternative to TrueNAS, its not as polished but its been really nice to use

cold elbow
#

Yes I'm considering openmediavault as well

brave field
#

You can't get a huge amount of help online since they've changed drastically from OMV4 to OMV5 but you get a pretty good package overall, useful plugins, and you can control most of the same stuff you'd be using in TrueNAS

#

Its VERY lightweight

cold elbow
#

Yeah i have an i3 2100

#

And 4gb ram

brave field
#

I have it and 3 docker containers running on a Raspberry pi and its using just under 300mb of ram

cold elbow
#

Wow

brave field
#

Two websites, a wiki page, a samba share, FTP share, backups, temperature monitor web frontend, Microsoft's RDP, everything of the sort

#

It uses NOTHING and leaves your entire system to the containers and plugins and programs you want to run

cold elbow
#

That's sweet

#

Btw i found a sticker for Windows 7 serial number on it
Wrote it in my main pc and worked :pepeJam:

brave field
#

Nice, hope they never change or remove that I've activated 6 systems with Windows 7 codes

cold elbow
#

It said that it's registered to my Microsoft account now

brave field
#

any version converts to its digital license equivalent instantly, its really handy

#

here's what base XFCE looks like if you were interested

cold elbow
#

Looks fine

#

Do u know about nextcloud?

brave field
#

menus, titles, windows, all work identically to Windows 10 and LXDE, the only bloatware here is its Snap Store, Pidgin, and LibreOffice (they didn't include a partition manager, weirdly)

#

I've heard a lot about Nextcloud and almost used it

#

but I don't really know much, nah

#

but I don't really know much objectively, nah

cold elbow
#

Maybe u never needed it

#

I need something that can automatically back up my devices

#

Especially the phone

#

And i want it to back them uo in their original folders

brave field
#

I think MiXplorer can back up your phone to anything. It connects to FTP, samba, and cloud services, but I don't know what other features Nextcloud may have that makes it better to use for backups than a normal Samba share.

cold elbow
#

Im currently using syncthings on my main computer to sync these folders but it's still janky

brave field
#

Duplicati might be useful, but I don't know what client makes sense to go with it.

cold elbow
#

I want it to sync changes

#

Syncthings did that well but the GUI is not that easy

brave field
#

hm

#

Are you using a GUI to exclude certain paths or manually do backups? ~~If you have something like Git Bash or WSL installed, you might be able to have it schedule a normal Linux rsync backup in the background for you, no fiddling around with the GUI at all, for the computer.~~I misread, oops

#

rsync only cares about files that change too, so it shouldn't hurt storage either

cold elbow
#

I add the folder that i want to sync on my phone then setup permissions and recovery method

#

Then i have to approve it on the server which is my pc then specify a folder for it and setup everything

#

U have to do this for every freaking folder

#

I was hoping that it's like any sync apps on your phone that it automatically detects photos

#

Nextcloud presumably does that .... Like hosting your own cloud service

brave field
#

ah

cold elbow
#

It's how it backup is the issue

cold elbow
#

After some struggling i made nextcloud kinda works and it's doing what i want ish.... Will continue testing tomorrow

cold elbow
#

UNRAID A LOTTT

silent mason

silent mason
#

When you were saying it's stupidly expensive I was expecting like $500 a month.

cold elbow
silent mason
#

But $60 one time charge, that's no big deal to me.

cold elbow
#

Thing is
Other solutions are free like TrueNas

silent mason
#

If it beats the pants off the free solutions I don't mind paying.

cold elbow
#

Yeah im trying to justify it and settle on one solution

#

It's hard to figure out and endup up in trying them all

Alright these are the final specs for the Acer Nitro 5 for £899.99

#

My friend is also looking at a Lenovo Legion 5P with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 and AMD Ryzen 7 4th Gen

#

8GB DDR4 RAM + 256GB SSD hmmm

#

Lenovo is for £849.97 hmmm

Costs less and runs better

#

That price is almost fishy

trim pumice

It's at a discount atm from Curry's PC World

trim pumice

trim pumice
#

I can get the Acer Nitro 5 for my friend tomorrow too so

#

The Lenovo, god knows when that'll be in stock ResidentSleeper

brave field
#

I think a desktop system with these specs would be around £460 or so without the monitor, so not the worst for a laptop

#

Any others in a similar price range with an RTX GPU? A 2060 is a noticeable jump up from a GTX 1660 ti if he plays something other than GTAO/FiveM

trim pumice
#

RTX ones are the ones mainly over 1k and that's the most they want to spend atm

#

Let me look on Amazon and PC world

#

@brave field How does this look?

#

RTX 3060 PB_peepo_sweat_glare

brave field
#

Giant step up

trim pumice
#

That's for £999

#

Lenovo Legion 5

brave field
#

worth considering, though its not great compared to the 2060 one that isn't in stock right now

trim pumice
#

I'm assuming Legion over the Nitro atm? hmmm

#

There's an MSI with these

#

Ā£899.97

brave field
#

That one is a good choice

#

Its better than the nitro, and not hugely more expensive than the first Lenovo one that is out of stock

trim pumice
#

So at this point, which one do you think is the best for the price hmmm

brave field
#

Probably that MSI one purely on specs

#

The Legion's £100 increase isn't worth it for 2060->3060 and the 1660ti one costs the same while being weaker

#

It sucks that storage gets sacrificed but that's easy to upgrade or replace

trim pumice
#

Guarantee for the MSI is 1 year

#

Same for the Lenovo

#

Acer Nitro too so

brave field
#

I vote for the MSI one, unless something better turns up

trim pumice
#

@brave field Are there any key difference between intel and AMD processors?

#

Anything that would make em pick one of them over the other?

brave field
#

Nothing huge for 99% of use cases

#

Some things that do have a large difference and are much faster on Intel are PS3 emulation, Android app development, Bluestacks (which should never be used), and things that rely on AVX512. I don't know of anything that is faster on AMD processors because of a factor other than its specs.

fervent granite
#

I think those are good too but yeah I’m just not an rgb person

silent mason
#

And I need another SL140 fan because the bloody twin 120mm fans just wouldn't fit at the bottom of my case. Got stuck to the bloody cable hiding flaps...

jovial tide
#

corsair rgb is a bitch to manage but it does look pretty good in the end

silent mason
#

And yes, the back fan is a 140mm, three 140mm fans at the top, and 4 120mm fans at the front.

Me with my all black no LED build

tall dome

I think I am gonna rework my whole cable management when I get a new GPU

silent mason
#

The fans are Lian Li not Corsair

#

They're the daisy chained Unifans

jovial tide
#

when i can get some money imma pay someone to custom loop and cable manage pc

Everyday I cry

silent mason

But yeah, main PC can be up to E-ATX (but it's just ATX I have, Asus ROG C8H WiFi motherboard), secondary is ITX only.

#

But Salty, for your GPU 8 pin cables and 24 pin motherboard cables, go Strimer Plus

#

Because then RGB

Even better

tall dome

I am probably gonna fix all this when I get that 3080

silent mason
#

Maybe get an Enthoo Elite Salty lol

#

Or a Corsair 1000D

kindred temple
#

5000D @silent mason

#

🄺

#

Why that chonker

#

When you can have a beaut

silent mason
#

Well I'm using a chonky Enthoo 719 myself.

#

But he can build two systems in one if he has the Elite/1000D (he also can with the 719, but let's just go big or go home at this point)

silent mason
#

But yeah @kindred temple my case is gonna be housing an RDNA2 APU as well in the ITX section. So double computer.

kindred temple
#

Virtualization with AMD card is on crack though

#

Its mad good

silent mason
#

Unfortunately my limitations can't be solved with a simple virtualisation

#

I need more simultaneous outputs than my GPU allows

#

It's a very weird setup that I can't exactly explain, but the dual PC setup is the easiest way to make it work basically.

cold elbow
#

U obviously know nothing about that WeirdChamp

#

Sorry for being harsh but that must be fixed

@zealous pasture windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them

Tech tip: boxes are the best test bench @silent mason

silent mason
#

Because I haven't changed the case, motherboard, CPU, or BIOS, warranty is still intact. For CPU and BIOS, if I contact the company who made it, they can authorise me to update the BIOS without voiding warranty.

This is a standalone executable that contains the following: the AHK interpreter, the AHK script, and any files it has incorporated via theĀ FileInstallĀ command. Parallels crashed when it tried to boot the windows partition, so when I actually tried to boot into it I got the dreaded ā€œtemp account errorā€

Couldn’t delete my user so I thought the next best thing was to try to delete it manually from macOS KEKW

brave field
#

@fervent graniteDoes macOS have the ~ directory and do you know what its supposed to be?

#

Everywhere I've looked, people have said it just represents home or a directory above it like with Windows, but for some reason the ~ on one of my installs is blank, and I have to manually go to the home directory instead
