Because 1TB solid state storage has been less than 100 CAD for a while, at least with older PCIe gens or SATA.
I know there's a markup on the xbox expansion drives, but I wouldn't pay more than CA$150 for 1TB of any type.

I don't even think they make 1TB SSD's for Xbox. Lowest I'm seeing is 2TB for $130 CAD. The reason why this expansion card was so expensive is because you can seamlessly play Xbox Series X|S games from the internal SSD or the expansion card without sacrificing graphics, latency, load times, or framerates

How this is different from an SSD is with an SSD on Xbox you would have to move any next gen optimized game to the internal SSD to play it. While with the expansion card you don't have to do that ans instead can play any next gen game directly from it. You can however still play backwards compatible and Xbox One games directly from an SSD on Xbox

That's pretty much the main reason it's more expensive then an external SSD. Mind you I only paid $170 ish CAD out of pocket for this since I ordered through Amazon and had a gift card left from Christmas

also, touchpad detects changes in the electrical field caused by your finger touching the surface so fingerprints don't matter xd
