The general consensus is that modern warfare is better but war zone is going to be its own spin-off thing and they're going to support Cold War until roughly November when they replace it with another cod

So if you want to level up your guns Cold War would be the way to do that

I'm guessing based on your tag here that you'd be buying it on PS4 just be aware that cross play is a thing you can turn on and off because PC players will regularly shred you. Even if cross play is turned off many PS4 players play on mouse and keyboard now too
