I think the main struggle for marathon is running with its visual style choice.
It’s new. People don’t like new. It’s down to preference. Plus they’ll make the game(mechanics) better overtime.

It’s a choice of preference.
I’ve played arc and it’s much more PvE based imo. I like it a lot, but not as much as marathon. Which feels more high stakes to me.
